Chen Sanjin’s expression changed drastically. Actually, if the entire Chen family had fallen, as long as he was still standing, Baoxin Group could still hold its ground. But if something happened to him, the Chen family’s flag would really come crashing down.

“I hope the Temple can help the Chen family get through this crisis.”

“That’s a given. The karmic debts left by our ancestors must be carried on by us. Otherwise, that would be heresy, wouldn’t it?”

“You’ve been in a high position for so long, controlling unimaginable wealth and people. Over time, you’ve naturally accumulated a kind of power that ordinary people don’t have. Under normal circumstances, such things wouldn’t happen to you. So, your family was the first to suffer. But over time, you can’t avoid being consumed, and eventually, it would happen—it’s just a matter of time.” Xiang Que said, with a slight frown, “This is really a slap in the face to our Gujing Temple. Who’s the one causing all this trouble?”

He Jinzhong, a high-achieving graduate from Harvard Business School, was a bit confused. He swore he understood the conversation but couldn’t grasp its meaning, feeling like his brain was short-circuiting.

“So…” Chen Sanjin weighed his words. “Sir, do you know where the problem is?”

Xiang Que grinned, “Yeah, it’s just what you think.”

… A day later, the three of them descended Mount Zhongnan and got into the three off-road vehicles waiting at the foot of the mountain. They then headed straight to Tangshan, driving at high speeds. A day and a half later, they entered the city and crossed through it, heading to the northeastern outskirts of Tangshan.

There was a small mountain in the suburbs, much bigger than the hill where Gujing Temple stood. A double-lane, four-car road had been built from the foot of the mountain to the top, lined with towering trees. When these trees were planted, the people of Tangshan had come to watch. There were rumors that the value of these trees alone could buy a three-bedroom apartment within the third ring road of Beijing.

At the top of the mountain stood several buildings. The largest one was, at least by Tangshan’s current standards, larger than any villa in the area.

After the house was completed, workers had said it wasn’t a villa, but a private garden.

In front of the house, at the entrance of the courtyard, stood an archway with two characters carved on it: “Chen Shi.”

At the foot of the mountain, a line of cars was parked by the side of the road leading up the mountain. A crowd stood around, including Chen family relatives and Baoxin Group’s senior staff, eagerly awaiting the return of the Baoxin boss.

Without Chen Sanjin, they had no anchor.

When the anchor returned, it seemed like there might be a clue as to what was going wrong with the Chen family.

The three off-road vehicles stopped, but Xiang Que didn’t get out.

Chen Sanjin, irritated, rolled down the window and stuck his head out. “Get the hell out of here. What, you all got nothing better to do? Get as far away as you can, and if you don’t disappear, you can just vanish forever. Damn.”

At that moment, Chen Sanjin regained the strong, commanding presence he had in Baoxin Group, and his usual street-smart attitude came back.

This was the old Chen Sanjin!

The crowd outside, upon hearing Chen Sanjin’s shout, didn’t hesitate for even a second. In the blink of an eye, they scattered like birds and beasts, disappearing without a trace. Not a single car drove up the mountain. They all drove out of the mountain instead.

In Baoxin Group and the Chen family estate, when Chen Sanjin farted, anyone who heard it had to treat it like an imperial edict!
