#97. The Tribe of Arael 7

“Codanus! Summer haze at full power!”

    “yes!”

Codanus enchanted an arrow and shot it towards the ramparts of the fortress they were trying to invade. As the arrow flew and hit the fortress walls the magic of the wind and moon was broken and a warm gust of wind swept through for a moment.

Nema who had been maintaining her foresight magic nodded.

“Two sentries on the watchtower are asleep.”

The warm and languid power of the summer breeze of flowers birds and the moon put the guards at the top of the fortress to sleep. They were already exhausted and fell asleep as if they were suffocating from the heat of a hot summer day without even realizing that they were losing consciousness.

    “hmm….”

Codanus struggled for a moment perhaps because he had used a lot of magic power.

“Good. Good job Codanus. Then Codanus Nema stay here and follow Kahsan’s instructions. We’ll go up!”

Nephthy ran lightly along the furrow and reached the base of the fortress. Yaravin followed her and jumped up to the fortress wall first holding onto the cracks in the bricks with his hands and quickly began to climb as if he were running on flat ground.

The fortress walls had bay windows built into them to block climbers from below and to fire arrows and stones from low places. Yarabin grabbed the window with both hands and leaped through it in mid-air.

Nefty and Yaravin scaled the fortress walls avoiding windows that were too narrow for a person to fit through.

When they finally got over the wall there were the knights of the King’s Church wearing armor and holding swords Azadin and two of Azadin’s servants waiting for them.

“You were waiting for us? You were putting the guards to sleep and watching us from a foresight perspective. How did you know?”

“It’s the magic of the King’s Church. ‘United Will.’ Thanks to that you were able to tell when you put the guards to sleep.”

Zibek cast a ‘Unified Will’ spell on his guards allowing him to know when guards were dead or unconscious and stationed them in watchtowers and gun emplacements.

“Oh that’s pretty good. How on earth did you manage to boil the paladin?”

Nephthy was impressed. The knights of the King’s Church were mostly the remnants of nobles who had been pushed out of the inheritance competition so they were all greedy. Among the young people there were some who had not yet been exposed to the waters of the world and were clean but Jibek had dark circles under his eyes and a gloomy expression making him look older than his age.

“If you have high aspirations won’t you have comrades?”

Upon hearing this Yarabin Nephthys’ servant stepped forward before Azadin. He glared at Azadin and stuck out his chin provoking him.

“Hey you blind freak Azadin! You think your ambitions are high? You’re praising yourself while sabotaging the high ambitions of Lady Arael you’ve got an iron plate on your face!”

“What are you? You’re not a messenger are you? A servant?”

    “….”

    “You are a servant.”

When Ismail said that Medium laughed brightly.

“How dare you quarrel with a messenger while you are a servant….”

“Shut up kid! I may be a servant but I’m no less skilled than a messenger!”

    “….”

“Phew?! Did you hear that Ismail? Isn’t that what people who fall from the messenger position always say? If they really are no less than a messenger they must have become a servant. Wow I’ve never seen anyone say something like that before!”

    “Oh no this brazen….”

Yarabin’s face turned bright red when Medium laughed at him openly. He thought that he became a servant because his family was poor but it was just an excuse he always heard from others. He felt embarrassed and embarrassed when that young girl pointed it out to him.

    “Enough. Yaravin step back.”

Nefty defeats Yaravin and steps forward.

“High aspirations make allies. Good words Azadin. You the paladin are also great.”

    “Thank you for your compliments.”

Jibek nodded slightly to Nefty. Nefty smiled at Jibek looked back at Azadin and Ismail Midiam and then opened her mouth.

“I will tell you the will of Azadin Arael. Arael wants to create the country of Aragasa.”

    “country?”

“Yes. To cast off the curse of service and create a nation with our own strength! If we succeed the Hybris people will not dare to despise us as soulless. It is because Arael’s will is so high that we follow her.”

    “…!?”

    “The country?”

Midiam and Ismail were shocked to hear that but Azadin was indifferent.

“That’s a great story but without a concrete plan isn’t it just nonsense? Even if we were to abolish the contract of service with the Emperor what are we going to do about the Eight Kingdoms that view us as a thorn in their side?”

“There is a concrete plan. The copy of the Azadin New King’s Book is that concrete plan.”

“A copy of the New King’s Book?”

“Yes. If we gather them we can release the curse of service and also gain a firm upper hand over the Yaegasu Gods. Do you know that the power of the Yaegasu Gods has been weakening recently? Even though the king and nobles claim to be descendants of the gods they already have too much human blood mixed in them.”

    “How blasphemous!”

Jibek who had been listening objected.

“It’s probably something you don’t want to hear as a knight right? But that’s a fact that even Count Lantaric acknowledges. The light of the royal flower is fading. Even if the rightful king sits on the throne monsters are lurking in places where there are few people and the dead are rising from their graves and wandering. The only one who can save this world is the goddess Arael who was not born from the path of humanity.”

    “Arael?”

Azadin was dumbfounded when he heard that. To him Arael was nothing more than a hateful brother but Nephthy who was his superior was worshipped as if she were a goddess.

While Azadin blames her for being born with the curse of service Arael finds it to be the basis for her extraordinary birth. Some people denigrate her others praise her and the discrimination is so blatant that it is annoying.

“So? Arael has such great power why did she have to join hands with that trash count who kills people?”

“Ahahaha! Azadin you are talking foolishly unlike a herald. Your heart of caring for the people of Hybris is not bad but that is only a virtue in times of peace. In war isn’t it the rule to destroy the enemy’s supplies first? If we spare the Hybris people because we feel sorry for them and they later become a force that oppresses the country we are creating then that would be betraying the cause because of personal feelings.”

“You want to create discord in this world and establish a country in the midst of it? Your imagination is very bad.”

“Delusion? How dare you call Arael-nim’s will a delusion?”

Yarabin who had been listening became angry.

“Azadin you said that if your will is high you will have comrades right? I don’t know if you consider Arael’s will to be a delusion but it seems like your servants want to become our comrades.”

    “Oh no! What nonsense!”

Midiam denied it but Ismail neither denied nor confirmed it.

‘The country of Aragasa…. If there was no way to implement it it would be nonsense but if there was no basis a capable messenger like Nephthy would not have sided with Arael. Judging from the fact that many messengers have changed Arael definitely has the ability to make what she says come true.’

“How about Azadin? Isn’t Arael-sama’s will to establish the nation of Aragasa lofty? If you want to become my comrade tell me now. Arael-sama will always open the gates of the military for you.”

“Hahahaha. That’s a really nice story.”

    Azadin burst into laughter.

“If it’s Aragasa then this is a proposal that would make your blood boil. And seeing so many people on Arael’s side it seems like there’s a solid plan and credibility that goes beyond mere delusion.”

    “yes?”

Nephthy was delighted when Azadin spoke highly of Arael’s vision.

    “Azadin welcome.”

Nefty extended his hand for a handshake.

‘It seems like you’re not an incompetent person who only believes that you’re Arael’s younger sibling so it’ll be a great help.’

Nefty welcomed Azadin wholeheartedly but Azadin shook his head.

“I appreciate the welcome but I still have to decline.”

    “what?”

    “You little brat!”

Yarabin who was watching became indignant.

“Aren’t you Aragasa? You can’t jump right in and start creating a country for your persecuted compatriots so why are you picking a fight over every little thing?”

“No calm down calm down. Oh really. You get excited too easily. That’s why I sincerely want to join you and work hard together.”

    “But why?”

“But if I am persuaded that easily wouldn’t Count Lantaric be too easy?”

    “What? What is that….”

“Don’t do that go and tell Count Lantaric. I can’t convince you unless you guarantee the safety of the civilians. And I am Arael’s only blood relative so fighting or killing me is out of the question. If you are serious about forming an alliance with Arael then let those people go.”

The moment he heard Azadin’s joke Jibek burst into laughter.

    “That sounds plausible.”

Jibek doesn’t know much about the messenger clan Aragasa. However he can see how much Azadin’s servants Midiam and Ismail desire it when they hear the words ‘the land of Aragasa’.

Aren’t these people persecuted beings who are called soulless blasphemies?

Even Azadin was not without his temper. Nevertheless he persisted in this stubbornness.

    Nephthys burst into laughter.

“What? So you’re telling us to conspire with you to get the Count to give in?”

“Yes. Isn’t that a pretty reasonable suggestion? If the Count thinks of me as Arael’s blood relative then I’m sure he would take my suggestion seriously.”

“I’m sorry but that’s impossible. There’s no way that such stubbornness will work. Count Lantaric….”

“Are you in a position where you have to kill people indiscriminately to study black magic?”

When Azadin said that Nephthy flinched.

    “you?”

    “This kid!”

Yaravin and Nefty frowned realizing that Azadin had already said that.

“Nephthys! This kid is playing with us! From the beginning I had no intention of joining Arael’s cause!”

“So you’re going to have to use force in the end.”

Nephthys also drew his sword. But Azadin did not draw his sword.

“Stop it. I don’t want to kill you guys.”

    “…what?”

“Are you out of your mind Azadin? I know you’re injured. And do you think your servants will support you? The only ones who will definitely be on your side are the paladins and the soldiers here but no matter how many soldiers there are you know full well that they’re no match for us.”

Although it was a small fortress there were about 20 soldiers stationed there but Nephthy the messenger treated that number of soldiers as mere scarecrows.

    ‘But it must be true.’

Jibek had seen the power of the messengers so he knew that their words were not empty words. Jibek was confident in his own abilities but after seeing Azadin he felt that he had to give it his all if he was to take on one of the messenger clans.

But what if the servants turn away?

‘There are artificial spirits flying in the sky and I can feel their murderous aura making my skin tingle. The messenger clan that approached below will probably be reinforced at any time.’

In this situation Azadin jokingly says ‘I don’t want to kill you.’

‘What is this guy going to do?’

    Ismail also became curious.
