#81. The Brass Knight 1
Azadin’s party then marched west for a day. When they reached a high hill Azadin had Midiam and Ismail use their foresight magic while he himself climbed a tree to watch the rear.
There was no one to appear as a pursuer as the Judge had managed to shake off the Jett.
“Whew. Okay.”
Azadin sighed in relief after confirming that there was no pursuit from behind.
“It looks like the exorcist doll is working properly.”
“So what are you going to do now?”
“First let’s chase after the Naga who escaped from the Count’s territory. He must have a considerable amount of the Shinwangjinseo.”
“You needed time to recover and time to bicker with that knight and by then you should have run away long ago.”
Ismail folded his fingers.
“You’ve wasted four days recovering. Four days is a huge difference. Do you still think you have a chance?”
“I admit that the possibility is slim. But other than chasing Naga there’s no other way to find out information about the Shinwangjinseo copy. If we go further we might get some more information so let’s chase Naga’s tracks.”
Azadin decided to follow Naga without much expectation.
“Try Ismail’s Bone Wand.”
“Yes? Right now?”
“okay.”
“It probably won’t be of much use.”
There are many means of evading detection magic and the Nagas who fled from Count Salasma’s palace had already used them.
Even if I try to use it now it won’t be detected and I’ll just be wasting the Bone Wand’s magic power. Ismail said that and used the Bone Wand but…
“uh?”
It was indicated that there was a copy of the Shinwangjinseo nearby.
“What is this?”
“also.”
Azadin smiled in satisfaction.
“We are not the only ones who suffer from unexpected accidents.”

The Nagas were a proud race. From the human perspective they were a cruel and horrific race that raised humans as livestock and held blood festivals every day but from the Nagas perspective they were proud to have ended the rule of the Nether and established the first civilized nation in the land of Hybris.
Just as humans worship the Yaegas gods who ended the rule of the Nagas the Nagas worship their own empire that ended the rule of the Nether the alien gods who had previously dominated the continent of Hybris.
As one of those Nagas Sister Ortesia became a subordinate of Count Kazel in order to make Nagas the main force of this land again no matter what sacrifices she had to make. She did this in order to obtain a copy of the Shinwangshinsho reveal the secret of the power of the Yaegasu Divine Tribe and rebuild the Nagashura Empire.
However Count Kasel was killed by the messenger of the hated emperor and two of the Ortesia sisters who assisted him were also killed. The youngest of the Ortesia sisters Shati escaped the collapsing castle of the count with a copy of the New King’s Book.
But why is she in a damp basement now?
“This is…..”
Shati looked at the iron bars in front of her and wondered. The rusty iron bars were embedded in the walls of the shabby basement cell but they were thick and strong making it impossible for human beings to escape. Her head hurt.
“What happened?”
When I open my mouth gastric acid comes up.
“Is it a drug?”
Only then did my memory return. I clearly remember having eaten the food provided at the inn last night and falling asleep but when I came to I was in prison.
“These piece of trash…..”
Shati gritted her teeth realizing that she had been caught in the trap of human villains. Normally she would rather not eat food given to her by others. However since this area was suffering from a drought and she had to flee so suddenly she had no choice but to accept food and ended up like this.
“You damn warm-blooded monkeys! As soon as I get out….”
She gathered all her strength to break the iron bars. But then.
-bang!
A commotion began to arise.
“Eww! What the heck? What is this!”
“Damn it! It’s a demon!”
“Krrrrrr!”
There was a commotion in the basement. It seemed that the Naga agents who had escaped with Shati were fighting with the humans.
“Martin?!”
Shati struggled to break the iron bars calling out the agent’s name.
When she managed to break through the bars and come out the entire basement had already become quiet. When she came out of the prison in a panic she saw a large slaughterhouse set up there with human corpses hanging on the walls.
“town!”
These innkeepers were raiding fellow humans selling the women and killing the men to make meat. It was clear that all the people caught were men and most of them had been slaughtered for meat.
In the middle of the slaughterhouse there was a corpse of a Naga who had been hit by a spear and around it were dead innkeepers. Perhaps these guys had left the Shati women alone to sell them as slaves and had planned to slaughter the male agents for meat.
In his haste the agent revealed his true form but he was unable to fight properly because of the chains the humans had bound him with. In this way the fight between the armed cannibals and the Naga who fought with their bare hands ended with both of them dying.
“Oh my god.”
Shati frowned and looked around. She soon found her bag in the closet. Fortunately the copy of the New King’s Book was safely inside.
“These damned warm-blooded monkeys… huh?”
But when she came out of the basement there was a crowd of armed robbers there.
“uh?!”
“Wasn’t this woman in prison?”
“shit!”
Everyone was hyper-vigilant and aimed their spears at Shati. They seemed to be comrades of the bandits who had died in the basement a moment ago.
When a man who was thought to be human turned into a Naga and fought the woman in the group guessed that he was also a Naga and called for reinforcements. Not knowing this Shati thought that all the villains in the inn were dead and escaped the basement defenselessly…

“Ugh…..”
Shati was taken aback by the gazes of the group of bandits glaring at her.
There were too many of them. And the lustful look in their eyes was unbearable and repulsive.
‘My sisters had no choice but to give up their bodies to roast a bastard named Count Kazel. But it was for the sake of obtaining a copy of the New King’s Book. These dirty ugly warm-blooded monkeys… How dare they look down on me without even considering the copy of the New King’s Book?’
However there were too many opponents and long weapons like spears and quarterstaffs were terrifying weapons even in the hands of those without martial arts training.
“This woman is really pretty. Is she really a monster?”
“Or what?”
“It’s too precious to kill…”
“Hey! Don’t make fun of Naga. I told you that he killed a man by spitting venom out of his mouth even though his arms were tied together just a little while ago.”
Perhaps because they had already fought other Nagas they approached Shati without letting their guard down and surrounded her. Then the one who seemed to be their leader spoke to Shati.
“Hey surrender get out woman.”
“yes?”
“What are you thinking boss?”
“Lord Lantarik will live there at a high price. Rather than you the woman who goes out and becomes a skewer here wouldn’t you have a better chance of running away?”
“….”
“What do you think? If you surrender take this sword.”
The bandit leader said this and held out a wooden restraint reinforced with iron. It was a restraint that required one’s neck and one hand to be placed within the same plank.
“You want me to drive it myself?”
“Yes. It’ll be convenient because once you fill it in the lock will automatically lock and won’t come off by itself.”
“….”
Shati sighed and grabbed her bag. It was enchanted with protection to protect it from any magic that might seek to track down the copy of the New King’s Book.
In normal circumstances there would be no reason to lift this protective spell and attract flies that are after the New King’s Book. However in a situation like this wouldn’t it be better to attract anyone?
‘I have to lure in those who are after the New King’s Book and make them fight these bandits. I have some energy left right now. Rather than fight and die I have no choice but to surrender for now and wait for an opportunity later.’
Shati removed the protective magic from the bag and handed it over to the thieves.
“Okay I’ll put the knife on.”
Only when Shati took up the sword herself did the bandits feel relieved.
“Wow as expected from a boss. You’re amazing.”
“No. It’s not something I like. Seeing you complying with this makes me think you have some other ulterior motive.”
“But what should I do with this dead body?”
“Oh it looks scary. Should I stuff it?”
“If we say we caught Naga the other guys won’t believe us… I want to leave something behind to brag about.”
“No it’s written with meat.”
“yes?”
The thieves were surprised and so was Shati.
“You uncivilized warm-blooded monkeys. What are you saying? Are you going to eat Martin?”
“okay.”
The thieves hesitated and asked each other.
“Is that edible?”
“It’s a monster that eats humans.”
“Humans were also made into meat and sold but now they are leaving…”
“Oh the problem isn’t eating it but what if it’s poisonous?”
“If it’s snake venom it’s okay if you boil it and eat it. Even poisonous snakes are boiled and eaten like that so what?”
The cannibalistic bandits who killed people and sold them for their meat were thinking of eating them even after they left. It was a farce that made Shati so angry that she couldn’t stand it.
The descendants of the glorious Nagashura Empire are being eaten by these warm-blooded monkeys!
“Ugh. You dirty warm-blooded monkeys!”
Shati was indignant at the sight.
“Be quiet young lady. The reason we sacrificed this guy in the first place… was because of you. I thought we could sell off a pretty girl but I never thought she’d get away. We’re also going to suffer a lot.”
The bandit leader said this and gestured to his men.
“Prepare the iron wagon. We must sell the slaves quickly.”
*********
Shati arrived at the warehouse where the slaves were stored sword in hand.
In the warehouse women were locked up but none of them had a knife to their neck like her and they were all chained to each other and chained to their ankles.
“Oh I didn’t eat any of these. Eat them when you feed them. If they get sick their commercial value will drop.”
The thieves clicked their tongues as they saw the porridge still in the porridge bowl in the warehouse. But it was no ordinary porridge.
“Are you planning on feeding humans to humans? You’re out of your minds. You bastards!”
“You’re going out aren’t you? You’re eating humans.”
“I’ll tell you in advance it’s an old tradition. Young Nagas these days don’t like eating humans very much. You guys are a kind of disgusting food!”
“Hahahaha.”
The thieves burst into laughter at Shati’s reaction.
