Night of the Soulless Heathens – 79

#79. Judgement Jecht 4
It was a shocking thing for Azadin. It is true that he killed Lord Gazrek but he was a criminal who killed civilians and more than anything was this the method of investigation he chose? Turning the killer into an undead and hunting him down?
“This Lord Gazrek now appears to be an evil undead. Does he cause no additional damage? He only targets his enemies and does not attack other humans?”
“Of course if you don’t have any enemies or can’t absorb blood or flesh to form your body you’ll attack anyone nearby but don’t worry about that. We’ll take good care of it.”
“Is it okay for a paladin to do something like that? Using black magic to raise the dead and use them? If you can’t control them they’ll attack other random civilians?”
Azadin asked the paladin before him a fundamental question.
“It wasn’t something I caused it was just an unfortunate accident.”
“….”
Azadin took a deep breath. It was the familiar scent of preservative fluid.
A smell very similar to the embalming liquid that Count Kasel was preparing in his palace.
The Gazrek in front of you is an undead created by removing its internal organs and marinating its body in embalming fluid. It is an undead that has been strengthened by removing rotting parts artificially and using sorcery and embalming. It is an undead that has been artificially manipulated for long-term use and did not rise up of its own accord.
And on top of that the knight in front of me used black magic and yet he has the audacity to say something like that.
“In this case I think it would be right to let Sir Gazrek rest after avenging his grudge. Above all can’t we tolerate someone as dangerous as the Heralds roaming around?”
Jecht and Azadin were bickering about what they wanted to say and babbling about other things but there was one thing that could be known at a glance when looking at this knight…
‘It’s incredibly strong.’
You can feel it just by looking at him. He is incredibly strong. Perhaps this is the Judge Jecht Lord.
Thanks to the magic he used Lord Gazrek had become very powerful. His entire body was filled with black magic making his body as hard as steel and he was wearing plate armor making him incomparably tougher than a human.
“He is the one who killed my father. He is a messenger who pretended to be a pilgrim!”
Chief Inspector Maya was glaring at Azadin from the side. Lord Jibek took a step back with an embarrassed expression and just looked at Azadin.
“How dare you kill my father in front of me and pretend not to know!”
Maya drew her sword in anger.
“Your father was a piece of trash who murdered civilians. He massacred innocent peasants.”
“Lies! You took my father’s life and now you dare to damage his honor?”
As she took a step forward in excitement Lord Jibek stopped her.
“Wait a minute. Lord Maya. You alone….”
“Let’s attack together. He’s a soulless blasphemer anyway! He doesn’t need to worry about the honor of a knight or anything like that!”

Maya was very angry. The fact that Azadin had deceived and tricked her right before her eyes seemed more troubling to her than the fact that she was using black magic as a paladin.
“First let’s give Lord Gazrek a chance to take revenge on us directly.”
As Lord Jecht spoke Lord Gazrek leapt at Azadin.
*********
As soon as Lord Gazrek saw Azadin he got excited and was about to jump in but the paladin Lord Jecht behind him was controlling him. He released the leash of control at this timing.
Sir Gazrek rushed at Azadin like a wild dog released into the open raging like an animal. His movements were beastly and completely unbecoming of the principles of swordsmanship.
A storm of strong and heavy blows rained down on Azadin enough to send a normal human flying with just a touch. However Azadin raised his sword and easily deflected the attacks.
Azadin also possessed powers that were beyond the power of ordinary humans so it wasn’t that difficult to deflect those attacks. The problem now is not this Lord Gazrek but the paladins watching from behind him.
“Wow you’re quite skilled. It would be rare to find someone who could take down Lord Gazrek so easily.”
Ject Sir drew his incense burner in his left hand and his sword in his right. Although it was a huge two-handed sword with a blade as long as a child he held it lightly with one hand and used the incense burner as a catalyst to cast a spell.
-The magic bullet of succession!
Despite being a knight he uses colorless magic. Unlike white magic which is activated by the power of prayer and wish colorless magic can only be cast after thorough study of magic itself.
In other words we must consider that Jecht Kyung-i has considerable ability as a magician.
Azadin parried the undead Lord Gazrek’s charge and reached out to grab his helmet. At the same time he turned it around with a whirlwind and easily turned Lord Gazrek’s direction hurling him with a flurry of magic bullets.
Lightly throw the rampaging undead and block its magic with his body!
That was when.
-Variation!
The magic bullets scattered like a flock of magpies then regrouped and flew towards Azadin. Azadin hurriedly spread out his cloak and swung it around striking it with a blow.
-‘The thunder of the sky the flowers the birds the wind the moon Kazas and the clouds.’
The magic bullets that came into contact with the cloak exploded all at once. Meanwhile Lord Jecht approached.
“That’s interesting. Don’t you use Hwa-jo-pung-wol? It looks similar but it’s not Hwa-jo-pung-wol at all.”
“….”
Azadin was taken aback by Lord Jecht who knew with just one look that what he was using was not magic.
The thunderbolt Kazas used by Azadin looked no different from magic at first glance so no one immediately recognized it as a martial art. However Lord Jecht immediately recognized it.
I have experience dealing with the messenger clan. I would have to say quite a lot.
‘Is he really the judge?’
Azadin glanced at the direction of Midiam and Ismail’s retreat. This side was higher ground so he could still see the children running away. If he didn’t buy more time they wouldn’t be able to escape.
Of course it would be advantageous to fight together… Azadin glared at Judge Jecht.
‘This author is dangerous. He uses white magic black magic and colorless magic and he has a keen eye for detail and above all he feels like he is an absolute powerhouse.’
Since Medium and Ismail are good at their skills it would be beneficial to give them support fire but if done wrong they could die in one shot.
For example what if Medium and Ismail are supporting them with arrows from afar and suddenly Lord Jecht or another paladin attacks them?
It becomes dangerous when the attack power exceeds the defense power. It is better to buy time alone and then run away.
It seemed that Lord Jecht was also thinking of buying time like Azadin. He was holding his sword and preventing Meiya and Zibek from coming forward.
“Oh my lord. I….”
As Maya tried to step forward with her sword and shield Lord Jecht stopped her.
“If you come within range you will be captured in one shot and taken hostage.”
“yes?”

“The author is strong. Don’t approach him unless you have a weapon like a spear.”
It was an insulting remark but it was the judge’s. Unable to disobey Maya stepped back.
“What should I do?”
Jibek was secretly embarrassed.
He is an old acquaintance of Azadin. When he first met him Azadin was an enemy that he had to kill on sight as a knight of the church of the King of the Suspicious Herald Clan. However after seeing what Azadin did he could not help but acknowledge him.
But he turned the corpse of his fellow paladin into a monster and chased after him. However he could not ignore the King’s Church and side with Azadin so he stood back and watched from afar neither doing this nor that.
“Sir Zibek please step aside. Sir Gazrek please step aside. Our non-commissioned officers will arrive soon so wait until then. I will keep Iza tied up for now.”
Azadin wants to buy time for Midiam and Ismail to escape while Lord Jecht wants to buy time for the NCOs to arrive. They both agree on buying time.
Azadin readjusted his sword.
“Are you Judge Jecht?”
“Yes messenger. And you?”
“The Emperor’s Messenger 108th Commander Azadin.”
“108th rank? With that level of skill? I thought it would be higher?”
Ject tilted his head.
“Well I don’t know much about the internal workings of your organization. Well let’s get started. After all you won’t spit out a copy of the Shinwangjinseo before you die.”
The tip of Ject’s sword began to shake. Although his face was invisible beyond the helmet Azadin felt that he was smiling.
Without saying who would go first Azadin and Jecht moved at the same time.
The Ject Lord delivered a clean stab. It was a textbook example of stabbing. It was a precise stab that felt like the sword was extended without any preparatory movement.
A ghostly strike that leaves no trace until the stab is triggered sending chills down the spines of those watching!
Azadin parried the attack by placing his hand on the blade and raising his sword.
‘Huh? Stop this?’
Jecht smiled and swung the censer. Before Azadin could fight back the censer flew into his face.
‘hmm?!’
Azadin is wearing a helmet right now so it would be okay for him to get hit by something like an incense burner but this is a catalyst that Lord Jecht uses when using magic. Indeed Lord Jecht cast the magic bullet of chains.
Too close to avoid!
As the magic bullets of the ring continued to hit his body Azadin swung his sword horizontally and struck Jecht.
An exchange of swords and magic! However Lord Jecht blocked Azadin’s attack with his own sword. Lord Jecht’s body was pushed to the side unable to withstand Azadin’s great strength. However this clearly shows that Azadin is at a loss.
“That’s amazing.”
“Ject said stepping back.
“You got hit by my magic and didn’t take much damage.”
Azadin survived six shots from a magic bullet that would kill an average person with just one shot.
“Tch!”
Azadin threw the sword he was holding at Lord Jecht.
-Wedge!
The sword flew away with the sound of the wind cutting through and Jecht easily kicked it away with his own sword. The sword thrown by Azadin broke into two pieces. It had already been broken by Jecht’s sword when he struck him.
-Crack!
The debris flew towards Maya and Gazrek who had taken refuge behind the Jecht.
-puck!
Gazrek was hit in the head with a sword and flew towards Maya where Lord Jibek struck him down with his sword.
“Oh thank you Lord Jibek.”
“Focus! When dealing with the Herald Clan your life will be lost if you let your guard down for even a moment.”
As Sir Jibek spoke Azadin leapt backwards and mounted the Kerim ram.
“Let’s go! Sweater!”
The Kerim goat starts running.
“I plan on running away…..”
At that moment Azadin drew his new sword and threw it at Lord Jecht. This time Lord Jecht simply raised his sword to block it but Azadin took advantage of the gap to unstrap his bow and draw the string.
“Oh no! This is a big problem.”
Jecht frowned as he watched Azadin change his weapon to a bow.
-Wedge!
Azadin took an arrow from his saddle and shot it with his bow. One arrow danced like a snake and passed over the neck of the horse led by Sir Zibek and Sir Meiya.
“what?!”
“ah!”
The horse starts to buck in surprise. While the knights panic and try to control their horses Azadin keeps his distance and fires another arrow. This time the arrow is aimed at piercing Lord Jecht’s neck.
