    #72. Serpent Temple 3

This time the Count steps forward and blocks Nagaya with his body.

The moment the arrow explodes another arrow flies to the exact same spot. It is an arrow that flies almost behind the first arrow almost biting its tail. It flies in at the moment when the Count’s magic power explodes the arrow.

    ‘Nice try! But!’

The Count’s magical power gathers and the second arrow explodes.

    “Haha! Ah!?”

The Count burst into laughter but a third arrow flew into the same spot again. Before the magic barrier could fully form the arrow struck the Count in the mouth.

    “good!”

Azadin cheered but the Count rolled over and stood up.

“Hahaha. Amazing. You’re really amazing the Herald Clan. You’re amazing!”

The count’s mouth was torn open but soon a snake’s tongue appeared from within his mouth.

    -Wood thud!

His body began to break apart.

“It hurts! It hurts! If I were human I would have died!”

    “….”

The Count began to transform into a Naga with pure white scales. Meanwhile Azadin was starting to have a headache.

‘Damn. I should have gone for another Nagana.’

When the Count blocked his way he wanted to see if he could block all three shots so he fired. In the end his quiver was empty but the Count had avoided fatal wounds and was transforming. It was a monster with four arms and a much larger size than the other Nagas.

Even the upper body of the creature was as big as an ogre and its mouth had a wound left by Azadin. However while it might be fatal to a human it was nothing more than a deep wound to him.

“You hurt me. You may be happy messenger!”

The count said so and picked up the sword that was propped up against the wall.

He picked up a huge two-handed sword in one hand that seemed to be close to the limit of what a human could wield and with the other he held a bronze torch which he thrust at Azadin like a spear.

There is a huge statue so it is too high for an ordinary person to attack but the Count who has transformed into a giant Naga can still attack. Azadin dodges the Count’s attack by somersaulting over the air and shows off his skill by releasing the bowstring in midair and putting the bow on his waist.

    “Wow that’s amazing!”

The Count was excited by Azadin’s talent.

‘Oh no. I’m out of arrows. What should I do?’

Now even the new statue is not safe.

We’ve run out of arrows and the mummy soldiers are slowly rising every time the Nagas cast a spell so fighting here any longer is pointless and dangerous.

It’s time to retreat. If you go back the way you came the untrained or simple mummy soldiers won’t be able to climb that wall so you can use the terrain to shake them off.

    But then….

    ‘Refugees are dying.’

If we open this underground passage and send out troops there will be a refugee camp outside. The refugees who have been pushed into Salasma because of the drought will be killed and their blood will become their sustenance.

The blood that fell from the blood bath soaks the bodies of the mummy soldiers and strengthens them so a large amount of blood will be needed to operate the mummy soldiers.

    “There’s nothing I can do!”

Azadin jumped down from the statue and landed on the ground.

“Haha. That’s amazing! Are you planning on fighting instead of running away?”

The Count admired Azadin’s courage as he abandoned the safety of the high ground and jumped down.

“Let’s see what your skills are!”

As the Count swings his sword to attack Azadin moves his body to dodge.

-‘The flowers birds wind and moon are twilight Kazas!’

The representative illusion of the messenger clan. However Azadin used his martial arts to move while scattering several shadows and avoided the count’s sword.

-‘The land spider Kazas the flower and bird and the moon!’

And in an instant he approaches. But the Count blocks Azadin’s attack by holding up the torch.

    -visor!

The sword that Azadin swung cut through the bronze torch sending sparks flying. Azadin used that momentum to slice through the Count’s torso but he instead swung his tail to hit Azadin. Blood spurted out and Azadin’s body rose into the air.

    “her!”

The Count was impressed. He had clearly swung his tail but it was completely useless. Azadin had thrown himself to minimize the impact.

    -chuck!

Azadin did a backflip gained control of his position in the air and landed. But…

    -Sudden…

Azadin’s nose is bleeding as well. From the Count’s perspective it was almost like he had lost all feeling in his tail but from Azadin’s perspective it was like he had collided with a running buffalo. No matter how much the impact was reduced there was no way he wouldn’t have been hit.

    “hmm.”

Azadin wiped the blood from his nose with his hand and examined the sword.

    The day was dead.

He cut the bronze torch and cut the count’s torso but even though the scales were torn and bleeding it was nothing more than a scratch to the count. It was a size and depth that would be fatal to a human but it was of little consequence against that giant.

‘The sword was quite useful. But I should have brought a few more. No you can’t bring that many weapons when you go undercover.’

Azadin usually carries a lot of weapons on his Kerim goat but when infiltrating the number is limited. The problem is that if Azadin dies what good will the weapons he has stockpiled be?

    *********

While Azadin fought the Count the Naga sorcerers managed to raise about eight mummified soldiers.

    -Ugh!

    “Help the Count!”

A mummy soldier awakened by the Naga sorcerers rushes at Azadin.

The soldiers charged at Azadin swinging iron-plate swords of a savage appearance and a black mist-like aura of curses emanated from their bodies. The mummy soldiers began to move spreading the curse of weakness.

    “Huh!”

Azadin slid across the ground dodging the attacks of the rushing mummy soldier and cutting through its torso with his sword. However it only felt like he was cutting through a sandbag and the mummy soldier turned around despite having his side cut off.

The amputated parts were filled with absorbed blood. The reason they made the blood bath was to use it for the mummy soldiers.

    ‘Damn it! The knife….’

Azadin was mindful of the sword in his hand when he saw another mummy soldier rushing towards him. There was no time to dodge. He kicked the mummy soldier who was approaching him with a hasty kick.

When he comes into contact with the one who emits the curse from his body black magic seeps into Azadin’s body.

    -Ouch!

It was a terrifying force that almost ripped out the neck of the mummy soldier. However Azadin also suffered a blow.

    “Ugh!”

Fortunately Azadin has very high magic resistance so he doesn’t take much damage but even so it’s foolish to engage in close combat with the mummy soldiers.

    “Hmm!”

The Count had no choice but to take a step back so as not to touch the mummy soldiers he had painstakingly created. Now that he had become a giant naga it was obvious that if he were to intervene in the fight between the mummy soldiers and Azadin the mummy soldiers would be crushed under his body.

Meanwhile Nagane continues to awaken the mummy soldiers.

    ‘The drinker must be subdued…’

Azadin approached Naga to avoid the rushing mummy soldiers. However Naga transformed into a snake and dodged between the mummy soldiers and continued to cast spells to wake the soldiers.

‘It’s too dangerous to fight here any longer. But it’s also too dangerous to run away…’

Azadin looked up at the wall he had come from. It would be faster for the enlarged count to strike Azadin with his torch or greatsword than it would be for him to climb up the wall.

As the mummy soldiers slowly surrounded Azadin the Count began to growl. He must have now completely subdued Azadin.

“Haha. Now do you want to talk to me messenger? How do you feel? Do you want to serve me? Is your heart still the same?”

“Ahem. Serve you? Kill people with these mummies? And what in return? Feed me nice food? Sleep with women? That doesn’t sound like a very appealing proposition does it?”

“Then why didn’t you run away and fight here?”

    “To prevent civilian casualties.”

“Civilians? You mean refugees? Those scumbags? Why? Do they have any value?”

“I don’t want my world to be filled only with undead.”

    “Even though it’s not yours?”

“You only feel like something is yours when you conquer it and get it in your hands. What a shallow and narrow-minded worldview.”

    “you?”

The Count noticed that Azadin was seeing himself as someone else he knew.

“I don’t have to conquer the world but I call it my world.”

“That’s funny. That’s just the self-consolation of a loser who has conquered nothing. Hmm?”

The Count saw Azadin pick up his bow again and string it even though he had no arrows left.

“What do you plan to do?”

“I regained some stamina after talking to you for a bit. I’m going to do this!”

At that moment Azadin hung the sword he was holding on the bowstring and fired backwards without even looking.

    -Two pucks!

The sword pierced the chest of the Naga magician who had been letting his guard down.

    “Whoa!”

    “Hey sis!”

As Naga screamed the other Naga magicians were shocked. Even though the blade was dull the sword flew with a frightening momentum and pierced Naga’s chest causing a fatal wound.

Even more surprising was Azadin’s bow which fired swords that were much heavier than arrows at a frightening speed and Azadin’s uncanny archery skills which allowed him to fire irregular swords with such accuracy.

    “How dare this guy!”

The Count was furious. In his lust for Azadin he had caused his lover the Naga woman to be seriously injured. It was at that moment that the enraged Count lunged at Azadin.

    “think!”

An arrow flew from above and struck the Count in the head. A blonde girl was hanging upside down on a rope descending from the blood bath into the underpass and shooting arrows backwards.

    “Are you alive Azadin?”

“Yeah! I told you not to come here…”

    “Thanks for coming right?”

    “Thank you! Damn it!”

Azadin was grateful for Medium’s support. He had told him to wait outside but he came after him without permission. However thanks to him he had a clue to counterattack.

    “How cheeky!”

Medium’s arrows fly towards the count but her bow cannot pierce his thick scales.

    “Medium! It’s arrow feedback!”

    “yes!”

After hearing Azadin’s words Medium changed his target and shot an arrow at Azadin.

    “Are you crazy?”

The indignant count also stared at the sight momentarily lost in thought. However Azadin snatched the arrow fired by Midiam from the air hooked it to his bow and shot it backward.

An arrow flew out with much greater speed and force than when Medium had shot it and struck the sorcerer.

    “Whoa!”

    “Rapid fire!”

    “Can I really get it?!”

As Midiam questioned he fired a barrage of arrows at Azadin. Azadin kicked the first arrow with his foot caught the second shot it back at Naga then caught the arrow he had kicked and shot it again.

The arrow that broke the head of the rushing mummy soldier was also struck by the naga sorcerer. Azadin was focusing on the naga sorcerer who was raising the mummy soldiers.
