    #68. Infiltration 1

However Azadin and his party had already disappeared so there was no choice but to come up empty-handed.

“Baroness Nordt has been very rude. I was forced to be rude by the Count’s orders.”

The knight who led the soldiers apologized to the Countess of Nord.

“I see. I understand. If only you had come when I was kidnapped by the cultists.”

Baroness Nort had no choice but to suppress her anger by saying so to the knights and soldiers who were searching her mansion.

“Baroness have you not brought any suspicious persons here?”

“What if it’s a suspicious person?”

“The one who rescued you and defeated the Apostles of Mezeri.”

“Hmm. You call the person who defeated the Kurt Cult a suspicious person. Instead of calling him a grateful person or a hero?”

“A cockroach that eats another cockroach doesn’t make it a heroic cockroach.”

That’s when the article said so.

    “uh!?”

“Oh no we’re in big trouble!”

    “What? What’s going on?”

    “The castle is on fire!”

    “What?!”

They were surprised and came out into the garden to see that indeed flames were burning all over the Count’s castle.

    *********

Azadin did not head to the Baroness’s mansion to rescue Baroness Nort. If he went there things would go the way Derek wanted. So he headed toward the Count’s castle instead.

    “Are you going to infiltrate?”

    “okay.”

Azadin took advantage of the castle he had been watching to sneak into the soldiers’ outposts that were guarding the area. He easily knocked out two soldiers and climbed up the wall. If he hadn’t knocked out the guards they would have discovered him while he was climbing up the wall.

“Okay. So where should we focus?”

Azadin took a deep breath while wearing his falcon mask. He focused his vision to find the flow of black magic flowing through this castle.

“…There you are. It matches the information I received from the Countess.”

Azadin pointed to the backyard where the greenhouse was installed. It seems that the news is true that the Count is living with a strange witch as his lover in the backyard annex and is not allowing anyone else to approach.

“You’re not going to approach me today? You haven’t even received the deposit yet.”

Medium recalled Azadin negotiating with the Countess.

“It would be nice to get paid but our mission isn’t about money right?”

“Are you trying to save Baroness Nort?”

“That too. Well depending on the situation you always need to improvise. Medium! Ismail!”

    “yes!”

    “yes.”

“Fire arrows. Do you know how to use roses?”

Azadin could also light fire with arrows from a distance but this was an art that even Azadin himself was likely to fail at. On the other hand for Midiam and Ismail who knew how to use magic properly it was a very easy task to ignite fire with fire arrows.

    “Of course.”

“Then light a fire over there and over there.”

Azadin pointed to the storehouse the stables and the roof of the armory. As Ismail and Midiam fired their rose arrows they flew through the sky and swooped down catching fire on their own as they fell.

The arrow hit the roof and started a fire sparks falling like flower petals. Perhaps because it was dry the fire grew quickly and soon a commotion broke out in the castle.

“Wow. It’s a rose of flowers birds wind and moon.”

Azadin was amazed at the magic he could not use.

“Okay. You guys hide around and wait. I’ll sneak in. Oh and…. ”

    “yes?”

“Please shoot an arrow at the wall over there.”

    “That’s right.”

Midiam and Ismail fired arrows at the wall of the patron building as instructed by Azadin striking the wall with arrows. Some of them stuck while others fell and rolled around.

“Then shall we go? You may withdraw for your own safety. If you are confident that you can hide then hide and wait.”

Azadin took advantage of everyone’s distraction to sneak into the castle to put out the fire.

    *********

Soldiers and servants rushed in to put out the fire but with the roof on fire and embers falling it was more important to save valuables from being burned than to put out the fire.

It was easy to sneak in as everyone was busy carrying supplies and putting out the fire. Azadin moved through the shadows created by the torches and fires and lightly approached the backyard.

The mansion located between the gardens of the patrons was where the count lived his daily life. A large porcelain table was laid out in the garden and various garden trees were growing on it.

    “….”

Azadin stopped as he approached. A strong smell of blood was vibrating through the scent of orchids. A smell of blood that could not be hidden even by the smell of flowers and herbs. Lizards appeared in the midst of it.

The lizards began to move after feasting on the corpses of dogs that were originally the Count’s guard dogs. They were giant crocodiles nearly two meters long.

    -Shh!

As soon as Azadin saw the lizards he fired his arrows.

    “Cheek?!”

    “Keeek!”

The arrows fired by Azadin pierced the heads of the lizards. However the magic connected to the lizards was activated.

    ‘I got caught.’

Azadin clicked his tongue as he watched the border spell take effect. The sorcerer present in this garrison had placed lizards instead of guard dogs and cast the spell instead.

Azadin quickly kicked off the ground ran stomped on the gardener and broke through the second-floor window. The moment he entered the building a transparent film-like feeling of rejection prickled Azadin’s skin.

    “Ugh.”

A normal person would have fainted the moment they were invaded but Azadin had such a strong resistance to magic that he wasn’t affected at all.

‘You’re a powerful sorcerer. You can cast this spell throughout the entire mansion. But….’

Azadin thought back to Arael’s letter. Compared to that letter the magic surrounding this mansion was nothing.

‘What on earth are you thinking Arael? Are you going to conquer the world?’

Azadin shook his head as he pondered such nonsense. Thinking nonsense while infiltrating enemy lines.

Azadin quickly entered the second floor. Then he felt movement on the first floor. They rushed out to the rear to intercept Azadin who had shot the lizard… but they were soldiers who vibrated with a terrible smell.

    ‘It’s a mummy.’

Mummy soldiers who had their intestines dug out and treated with special drugs were wielding body shields and searching through the backrooms. Azadin checked them out the window and headed inside the building. The smell of blood was his guide.

‘It gets darker as you go down.’

As I went towards the direction where the smell of blood was strong I came to a basement but the thick door was closed.

‘I’ll get caught the moment I open it and go in.’

Peeking through the crack in the door I saw that inside was a huge operating room and surgeons wearing face masks were cutting open corpses with curved knives digging out their internal organs and creating mummies.

‘No matter what you are a descendant of the Yaegasu clan and yet you are doing something like this?’

Azadin frowned as he watched the mummy surgery taking place inside.

‘We have to deal with this quickly.’

Azadin prepared his arrows. Tradition was slowly coming to an end.

    -Thud!

As soon as he kicked open the door Azadin fired his arrows at rapid fire.

    -Shhh!

Two arrows pierced the head of the farthest sorcerer. The other two sorcerers startled turned around with their hooked swords but Azadin holding his bow in one hand charged forward and with the other hand drew the sword at his waist and cut off the sorcerer’s head.

The cervical vertebrae were cut off leaving only the skin and flesh at the back to support the head. Azadin who had decapitated the caster with a single blow turned around and stabbed another caster in the chest.

    -Push!

The blade pierces through his torso and emerges from his back. Perhaps because he had brought a particularly valuable sword from among the ones Azadin had the blade remained intact even after cutting his neck and piercing his heart.

Azadin kicked the corpse of the sorcerer away pulled out his sword swung it around and dripped blood before putting it back in its sheath. But…

    “Kurrrrrr.”

    “Kikki-kik.”

The sorcerers who were clearly knocked down slowly rise up. They rise up even if they are hit in the head with an arrow have half their neck cut off or have their heart pierced.

    “Wow!”

Azadin slung his bow on his body picked up the hooked sword that had fallen to the ground and threw it at the wizard who was furthest away.

    -Thump!

The caster’s body tore apart and a scaled hand emerged from within catching the sword thrown by Azadin.

    “It’s quite something…”

But the sorcerer could not finish his sentence because Azadin grabbed the sword with both hands and cut it upwards from bottom to top splitting the sorcerer’s head vertically.

    “100 million?!”

    -puck!

Their hooked swords were also stuck in the chests of other sorcerers.

    “Hey wait a minute!”

Before the sorcerers in human form could even complete their transformation Azadin rushed in and cut off their arms and slashed them.

    -Wood thud!

“If there is an afterlife for you you should correct your habit of transforming leisurely.”

Azadin cut down the surgeons and went further into the operating table.

    *********

The smell of blood which had been getting stronger the further I went in had now entered a realm where I couldn’t tell if what I was entering my nose was air or blood.

Deeper than the operating table there was a large bathhouse where the blood from the surgery was collected. Strangely it was a huge bathhouse filled with blood that did not harden reaching knee height. In that blood bathhouse two human males and females with strangely glowing yellow eyes were entangled.

They writhe like snakes in the bath of blood even though Azadin must have clearly heard the sound of the sorcerers being removed from outside.

    -Wedge!

Azadin fired two arrows with his bow in an attempt to eliminate the man at once. These were all the arrows Azadin had left. However the arrows were caught in a barrier of invisible power near the man…

    -pop!

It split apart like an explosion.

‘Tch. As expected you were provoking me so openly. Did you have a countermeasure against the arrows? Since it’s colorless magic I can’t see it well even with my eyesight. I should’ve brought something like Black Steel.’

Azadin clicked his tongue as the two-handed sword of conversion returned to nothing.

    “Kyaa!”

    “Char!”

When the women opened their mouths in surprise sharp fangs were revealed. It was as if a poisonous snake had opened its mouth to threaten. However the Count holding the women in his arms did not pay attention to the direction from which the arrows had come that is to Azadin and explored their bodies.

    “illustration.”

The sight was so disgusting that Azadin knocked on the door he had come through.

“Are you by any chance Count Kasel?”

“You are a rude messenger. Yes I am Count Kasel.”

The man who had been lying in the bath of blood rose up.

“Why don’t you just keep lying down without revealing that ugly thing?”

    Azadin complained to Kazel.

“You say it’s not worth looking at? What about you?”

“Your wife would propose to me.”

It sounds like a rude provocation but strangely enough it’s true.
