Night of the Soulless Heathens – 66

#66. Assassin Salesman 3
‘As expected the difference in skill between a warrior and someone who isn’t a warrior is like heaven and earth.’
‘We were just country farmers. On the other hand the warrior nobles were literally human weapons.’
‘If you think about it that way wouldn’t it be safer to just eat this and then fall?’
‘You must have been so hungry that you thought of breaking into the Baroness’s house.’
Everyone came to their senses after being beaten by Azadin.
“I guess there’s no one else I can hire to do this job.”
Azadin put his arm around Beldon’s shoulder.
“Then please hire me.”
“Oh no what if you do this on your own? And if you’re going to give them silver coins….”
“Of course I should be paid more than that. Let’s negotiate the salary. Please introduce me to your employer.”
“uh….”
Beldon is dragged by Azadin’s power. Since their bodies are touching he can feel his immense power. If Beldon refuses here Azadin will break his spine.
“Save me…”
“So that’s why I’m offering to help you. Come on I’ll save you so let’s go.”
Azadin cheerfully dragged Beldon towards the count’s castle.
“….”
Maya and Sir Jibek looked at the sight with confusion.
‘You were the one who castrated Prince Kozel weren’t you? What are you going to do when you meet Prince Kozel again?’
Besides Azadin is the herald of the Emperor of the Herald Clan. I don’t know what he’s going to do but shouldn’t I stop him?
Sir Jibek hesitated greatly but in the meantime Azadin was already taking Beldon away.
*********
We entered with Beldon and were able to pass through the Count’s gate with ease.
“Oh Mr. Beldon who is that person?”
“That is Confucius’s guest.”
“okay.”

The castle soldiers also easily opened the way. Thanks to this Azadin was able to see the inside of the count’s castle which he had not been able to see from afar.
‘Whew great. Just seeing the inside of the castle is a huge benefit.’
Even if you try to sneak in at night you need to know the structure first. It is reckless to sneak into a completely unknown building and hope not to be caught by the soldiers even if you are the emperor’s messenger.
A thorough investigation is required to explore the target without being caught unless you kill all the soldiers you meet and rush in.
“Confucius does not meet guests easily. Please wait here for now.”
Beldon guided Azadin and his party to the reception room.
“All right.”
Azadin smiled as he waited in the reception room. A powerful black magic power was felt in Azadin’s sight.
“I have a strange feeling.”
Even Medium wondered if it wasn’t just Azadin who felt this way.
“I can smell blood strongly.”
Ismail also smelled blood.
“It seems like the Count is interested in black magic. There are also rumors that he brought in a witch so it must be true.”
“But is it okay for you to barge in like this?”
“It’s okay. This is much better than sneaking in at night. There’s so much more benefit to coming in while the sun is up. It expands your options.”
Azadin assured.
After a while servants and maids began to come in. Prince Kozel was walking supported by Beldon and supported by a cane. He was getting nervous his face torn off by Azadin and covered with a jeweled mask.
“I told you to do it yourself! Why do I need to meet you in person when you’re hiring a swordsman?”
“That’s because the price tag is high. It’s not something I can decide on my own.”
“How much are you calling me? Huh?”
“Hello Confucius.”
“What? Is it just one person? It doesn’t seem like there are many people here.”
Kozel who had been blinded by Azadin felt strangely uneasy in the reception room.
“There is no need to deploy several people to carry out an assassination. One skilled person will do. Besides what Your Majesty needs right now is not a simple assassin but a wise expert.”
“Tch. This kid. Are you trying to bargain with me right now? Jihye? What the hell are you talking about?”
“First of all let me ask you. Why do you want to capture Sir Tarki? Is it just to vent your anger? There must be more important things to do.”
“…hey.”
Prince Cozel seemed offended by those words and gestured to Beldon.
“Kill this kid here.”
“yes?”
“Right now!”
Then the soldiers waiting outside the reception room rushed in. The soldiers armed with thick body armor rushed at Azadin but…
-Papak!
Azadin somersaulted backwards into the middle of the soldiers then lightly kicked them in the head. That alone sent the helmeted soldiers flying into the fireplace and into the window frames.
“This and that.”
Azadin snatched the bardish and handed one to Ismail then thrust the other directly at Prince Kozel. The bardish’s spearhead stopped in front of Prince Kozel’s nose.
“If I were a real assassin you would have died here and now.”

“….”
“Of course I won’t harm you.”
Azadin retrieved the body again.
“What the hell is this kid doing? Did he just dispose of the soldiers empty-handed?”
Kozel who had no eyes asked Beldon in puzzlement as a cold air passed in front of his nose.
“Yes. He was no match for us. Seriously this guy is… really strong. If he hadn’t stopped just now we wouldn’t have been able to stop him.”
If you offend Azadin right now everyone in this room will be killed. Beldon who realized this naturally started speaking politely.
“Hmm is that so?”
As Beldon showed a more polite attitude Kozel also changed his mind. If he provoked someone who could kill him right now he would be lying in a coffin. He could gain an advantage over Azadin only if he continued to maintain the relationship between employer and employee.
“So what do you want? It doesn’t seem like you just want money. How much do you want?”
“I would like about 50 gold coins.”
“Ha! Are you crazy? I could buy a manor with that kind of money.”
Prince Kozel laughed at Azadin for demanding such an absurd amount of money. But Azadin laughed and said
“I am sure the Countess will be willing to pay you more than that if she wants more than a raid on the Baroness’s private residence.”
“what?”
“Eek?”
Beldon Confucius’s younger brother and stepbrother was terrified when he heard Azadin’s words. Perhaps because he was a Seodong who had been used to being picky he immediately understood what Azadin meant.
“Hey what are you talking about kid?”
“Your Majesty what this assassin is saying is….”
“What is it?”
“If something happens to the Count now the Countess will take over as regent. Then there is no need for the Countess to send her son to the religious order…”
Beldon spoke indirectly.
‘Hire me to assassinate the Count!’
Can’t you say that he said that?
*********
‘amazing.’
Medium was amazed at Azadin’s quick thinking. Prince Kozel was just trying to take out his anger on Tarki. The injured fool was having a fit before the power and money were out of his hands.
However Azadin took what he had only seen briefly on the street as an opportunity to sneak into the castle and even boldly expanded the matter to assassinate the Count.
The relationship between the countess and the count I already knew the information about the count’s successors from Baroness Nort but how could you do something like this in such a short time with that information? That’s amazing quick thinking.
“You’re crazy. So you want me to introduce you to my mother? To assassinate my father?”
“If you are going to take on a job shouldn’t you play in bigger waters? This will be better for you too.”
Prince Kozel who was castrated and blinded is still a nobleman. From the count’s perspective he is a completely useless person so it is advantageous to get rid of him somehow but if the countess takes the regency there will be a need for someone to use as a caretaker or an official. The only way for him to remain in Salasma without becoming a monk is if the countess becomes the regent.
“He’s really crazy. But I like him. He seems to have both skill and guts.”
Prince Kozel looked back at Beldon.
“Hey get that guy out.”
“yes?”
“Hey I’ll contact you later. For that time let’s stay at the ‘Blue Rose House.’ Beldon! Give these guys a room at the Blue Rose House!”
“Oh I understand.”
Although he said that Prince Kozel seemed to be reluctant to accept Azadin’s proposal.
*********
The Blue Rose Hall was a luxurious hall. It was a place where nobles and the wealthy came and went and there was a private room that Prince Cozel had rented for a large sum of money. Beldon guided Azadin and his party there.
Judging from the fact that he’s waiting in such a secret place it’s safe to assume that Kozel has already gotten over it even though he’s grumbling in front of him.
“That’s amazing.”
Although Ismail had no good feelings toward Azadin he couldn’t help but admire him.
“What? An inn here? Well at Kozel’s age renting something like this for a long term is like spending money on water…”
“Oh no. I mean your improvisation.”
Although all members of the Herald Clan are trained in espionage information manipulation and assassination most of it is superficial training. However what Azadin had just shown was incredible improvisation.
As Azadin returned with Beldon he took another look at the outline of the Count’s castle and although he was not sure if it was going well he also opened up a line of communication with the Countess through Prince Cozel.
In addition when he parted ways with Seodong he also requested the same information regarding the work arrangements of the castle’s servants. However Azadin was not satisfied.
“We can’t rest easy yet. From Confucius’s perspective if he were to confront me in the reception room within the castle his own head would fall off. So he might be moving to an inn he knows and then releasing his soldiers. If he fought in the reception room his own life would be in danger but if he fought here only the soldiers’ lives would be in danger. Besides there might be some kind of secret device here that would make it easy to subdue us.”
Azadin said and looked around. He was checking the entrance and exit of the building. He was nervous because there was no voice from the Emperor to warn him about the ambush.
Azadin looked outside the building his nerves growing tense as soldiers passed by.
“Oh damn it. Ever since I became a messenger I’ve been relying too much on the Emperor’s voice. When the Emperor’s voice is present the spirits would know who was approaching. But when it’s not there it’s obvious.”
“The Emperor’s voice seems to be very useful. It seems that he has put a lot of effort into it.”
Ismail said so and made a foresight and flew it.
“you.”
“yes?”
“Foresight is probably a pretty difficult spell but you can use it at that age?”
“You know a lot. Even though you can’t use magic.”
Ismail seemed to be laughing.
