Night of the Soulless Heathens – 57

#57. Darkness of Salasma 5
Azadin was evading encirclement with his back to the entrance. Although he was surrounded on three sides he had a clear escape route. Azadin also laughed as if he had read the minds of the Wear Rats.
“In this case you as the superior should set an example. You go for it.”
“Huh!”
Curven was also reluctant to approach. His broken arm and ankle when he was thrown at Azadin were not fully healed even with the Wear Rat’s regenerative powers.
In fact he is alive because he is a superior being among these wererats. If he were a normal wererat he would have died from one of Azadin’s Qingilsong.
“Keeeek!”
One of the were rats unable to stand watching pushed his comrade next to him and sent him towards Azadin. Azadin’s sword flashed and he cut off the were rat’s head once again.
However this attack broke the sword in Azadin’s hand. The wrought iron part inside was still intact but the sword was bent at a 90-degree angle.
“Okay! Now!”
“Kyaak!”
Taking advantage of the gap another wererat jumped at Azadin. A cold-blooded choice to sacrifice a comrade and create an opening in the enemy! The wererats were rather proud of this choice. They considered it their own wisdom that humans could not dare to imitate.
But if it succeeds it is wisdom and if it fails it is nothing more than a dirty act. Azadin first threw a watering can at the neck of the Were Rat that was rushing in.
-Phuk!
Azadin’s water blow instantly breaks the opponent’s neck. As the were rat’s body stiffened with the cervical vertebrae broken and he lost consciousness Azadin took hold of its body and blocked the attacks of other were rats.
“Ugh…..”
“Ugh!”
“Nonsense! We are the ones who hunt! With Mejeri’s blessing we should have become the ones who plunder….”
“You’re funny.”
Azadin kicked the torso of the Wear Rat who was staring in disbelief at the thwarted attack. The tip of Azadin’s boot was sucked into the Wear Rat’s liver.
Blood spurted out from the eyes nose mouth and ears of the were rat which had just lifted off the ground and taken two steps back.
“Kwaaaaak!”
The Wear Rats were in pain from the powerful kick that burst their livers. Sadly their regenerative powers made their suffering last longer.
Their regenerative power is not great enough to completely regenerate major organs like the liver without any damage so keeping them alive will only prolong their suffering.
The Wear Rats were surprised by Azadin’s reaction speed as he defeated them one by one even though they were surrounded.
It’s a different level. They don’t have an advantage just because they’re surrounded from the front left and right. Rather they just keep getting beaten by Azadin.

‘What the heck guy?’
‘Is this the guy Curven always talked about?’
Curven had been blaming the Herald Clan for his involvement in Mezeri.
The most inferior of the clans became the messenger simply because of the politics among the elders. So someone like himself who just quietly worked at the Korasaru Bobusaeng could not become the messenger. This is clearly a problem with the organization.
I’ve always complained like this. But when I look at Azadin’s skills isn’t it incomparable to Curven’s?
Taking advantage of the Were Rats’ confusion Azadin picked up the staff that had fallen on the floor and retreated exiting the building.
“Oh no! Chase after me!”
When Curven realized what Azadin was trying to do he panicked and gave orders to his subordinates. However everyone was half in doubt.
“It’s outside.”
“If I go out other people will….”
If you’ve already transformed into a wererat and run out into the middle of the street in broad daylight there will be witnesses. So everyone just let Azadin go out of the building but that was a mistake.
As soon as Azadin went out of the building and gained some distance he took off the moon-bow he had on his waist put it between his legs and attached the bowstring for the shotgun. Then since it was a river he put rocks that were overflowing into the shotgun and started shooting them.
-Wedge!
A stone flew at a terrifying speed passing through the entrance of the building and striking the Wear Rat inside.
“Ugh!”
“This little shit!”
However the interval between the stones being thrown was incredibly short. If you didn’t see it directly you would suspect that it was a large army continuously throwing stones.
*********
As soon as Azadin picks up rocks outside the door he starts shooting them with his bow. However all the amorphous objects like rocks are sucked into the door and attack the were rats inside the building.
“Get out of the door! Damn it! That bastard!”
When Curven was confused this time Azadin reached into his clothes and took out the arrows he had been hiding. Azadin broke the arrowheads and hung them on his bowstring. This was something even Curven had not expected.
‘What is that guy trying to do?’
At that moment Azadin unleashed his double-barreled arrows no three-barreled arrows. The three arrows struck the outer wall of the building in quick succession…
You and I started to burn. The friction between the wooden arrow shaft and you continued causing the fire to start from the heat of friction.
No matter how dry the situation was no matter how well the heralds mastered the bow it was an ‘ignition’ that could not be achieved without continuously hitting the same point with arrows.
Even if you hit it directly it won’t catch fire so you have to hit it while causing as much friction as possible… Is it possible for a person to do this?
Everyone panicked as the building began to catch fire. Because it had been dry the whole time it started to burn even faster.
“Hey! Are you doing this knowing that there are other humans here?”
Unable to stand watching Curven shouted like this. Azadin shrugged his shoulders after hearing that.
“Oh really? Sorry for being rude. Turn off the lights. I won’t bother you.”
“Huh!”
“Or you could be roasting rats inside. I looked outside and saw refugees roasting rats and eating them. By the way you guys were talking about something funny. What? You became a hunter thanks to Mejeri’s blessing? You’re a rat? What if you turn into a werewolf or a weretiger? It wouldn’t be pretty would it? Honestly.”
“…Oh no!”
“Do you know why we became Wear Rats? We also think Wear Tigers are cool…”
“Hey don’t do that!”
They were also startled when Wear Rat appeared and made a statement denying Mejeri’s blessing.
In any case the fire spreading through the dry wooden building was a serious problem.

“Damn it! You’re really not going to attack are you?”
Curven ordered his men to put out the fire. The dry dried-out huts were burning in an instant and the embers continued to fall and spread inside the building but it wasn’t difficult once the Wear Rats set their minds to putting it out.
They put out the fire by kicking away the burning bushes.
“Phew. It’s off.”
“But… where did that guy go?”
If Azadin had attacked while I was putting out the fire I would have been helpless. However Azadin really didn’t touch the Were Rats while putting out the fire.
That’s good but… I can’t see it.
“Wow really?”
“Are you already inside?”
It was when the Wear Rats were panicking and checking the inner entrance.
“Hmm. So now that the lights are out shall we start again?”
Azadin who had been behind them muttered.
“Ugh!”
“This kid?”
In Azadin’s hand was the head of the halberd. He was holding the pike part of the halberd detached from the hilt like a tonfa.
“Ugh!”
As Azadin swings it the Wear Rat’s jaw breaks.
The were rats tried to scratch Azadin with their claws. With just one scratch they would tear human flesh and infect with poison and bacteria leading to death. If you were unlucky you could receive Mejeri’s blessing and become infected with were rats. This was a terrible claw attack.
But when Azadin swings his halberd his fingers and all are cut off.
“Keeeek!”
Wear Rat disguised as a paladin drew his sword and charged at Azadin. However Azadin simply blocked the blade with the head of his halberd slipped it away and closed the gap to kick him. This time it was a soy sauce kick.
“Ugh!”
As the were rats staggered Azadin snatched his sword and swung it at the other were rats. The were rats’ limbs were blown off and their heads were cut off a tragedy unfolding.
‘You’re too strong! What is this? This is Azadin? This isn’t the 108th spirit or anything?’
It is by no means the skill of a lower-level messenger. With just his own strength he can be said to be a top-level messenger. Kurven was horrified as he watched Azadin sweep away the Were Rats like autumn leaves.
“Ugh. Wait a minute! Azadin!”
“Why? Are you trying to leave a will?”
“I I’m going to run away. Let me go!”
“Why should I listen to you? If you’ve become a member of Kurt’s family you should know that there’s no reason for me to keep you alive.”
“Ugh… There’s something called childhood love right?”
Azadin burst into laughter for a moment.
‘Has this guy gone crazy? Is this the love of childhood?’
But it seemed that Curven interpreted Azadin’s laughter differently.
“Aren’t we from the same neighborhood living together and eating from the same pot? We trained together! You could call us friends from the same town! Right?”
“Don’t you remember what tormented me?”
“That was just a little prank I played when I was little. And you know what? Everyone is bullying you and if you don’t do something you’ll get bullied too! I had to do it to survive. You have to understand that!”
“So in order to survive you somehow became a were rat?”
“It’s the district chief! He sent me to investigate missing people and I got attacked by wererats and I became one too. I didn’t want to be one. So just let me run! Okay?”
“ha.”
Azadin was bewildered by Kirven’s self-centered remarks. He was originally an unlucky guy but it seemed that he had become even more self-centered after becoming a were rat.
‘After transforming into a wererat wouldn’t your intelligence be lower than when you were human?’
Azadin nodded.
“Okay run away.”
“Oh really? Thank you. Hehe.”
“But before that give me the information. Is Baroness Nort inside? She should have gone missing yesterday.”
“Oh that noblewoman? Of course there is.”
“What are you going to do with that woman?”
“I knew there was a copy of the Shinwangjinseo nearby… but it didn’t manifest. The Shinwangjinseo copy as a book of magic also has a self-defense function so it can’t just fall into our hands. So I was working on a task where I was told that if I harassed and abused people a copy of the Shinwangjinseo would manifest. I also needed nobles. Humans with Yaegasu blood in their veins make great sacrifices.”
Is it because it is the King’s Grimoire that it responds to people’s calls and desires?
“Is this advanced information? This is information that only the high-ranking magicians of the Kurt Clan know. Then I’ll go.”
Curven backed away from Azadin and as the distance between them grew he started to run away.
