Night of the Soulless Heathens – 514
by Jessie@AFNCC
#Epilogue. And dawn….
Jibek was surprised to hear Azadin’s words.
“You will establish me as the king of Bthuma?”
“okay.”
“But I…..”
“I killed Lord Jecht.”
“That was almost the last breath. It seems like you intercepted something that Your Majesty had already finished.”
Although Zibek said so Lord Jecht who had become the Nether Avatar was a powerful being even though he had been beaten half to pieces by Azadin.
“No matter what you say. Externally it is the greatest military achievement and Btuma will continue to be the front line against the Nagas. I plan to deploy the troops of the former Chadra Plateau in Btuma and to control them I need a knight like you. If not you Legion is the next best option but frankly he is not fit to be king.”
“I understand Your Majesty’s grievance seeing as my next in line is Legion. But why not Prince Calintz?”
“Because he is the son of the Northern Emperor.”
Prince Kalintz who served as Chapter Master of the Fire Glyphs possesses outstanding skills and popularity.
However he was the son of the Northern Emperor and the people of the South were afraid to make him their king.
“I think he is a trustworthy person.”
“Then I can give you the position of prime minister. I can give you the title of count. Do whatever you want. I can’t afford to let talented people rot away.”
“Okay then.”
After hearing Azadin’s words that he could entrust Prince Kalintz with such an important task Zibek seemed determined and showed his courtesy.
“I will revive Btuma following the legacy of Darhan-Zadek son of the Golden King Manja-Zadek.”
After the death of Golden King Manja-Zadek Jibek joined the army of his son Darhan-Zadek and fought in the war against the Kurt Pantheon forces.
As he had already made a name for himself in the Btouma region the Btouma farmers were happy to welcome him as the King of Btouma.
Jibek’s statement that he would continue the legacy of the other Zadek won the favor of the Bthuma people.
In addition with the entry of Legion Kalan Selim a leading figure in the Azadin army into Btouma and Prince Kalintz assuming the position of prime minister of Btouma the Btouma revival project gained momentum.

The New Testament Church and the Knights Templar who received Azadin’s teachings grew into key forces in resolving this situation.
Their rise was inevitable as the King’s Church which used the same white magic fell.
However since the New Testament Church did not have a proper clergy system the priests and knights from the King’s Church became the most important core faction.

As a result a strange alliance was formed between the Knights Templar and the King’s Church in the name of the New Testament.
The unification of the two religious powers that the Northern Qi and others had sought to achieve was achieved through Emperor Azadin’s New Testament Church.
However the union was not yet complete and was in a precarious state where it could tear apart at any moment.
But as long as there is an emperor they will not be divided.
*********
Scott McGreen the orc necromancer and successor to Lord Sok was the man who contributed most to the Battle of Dawn.
He operated the Necro Titan on behalf of Lord Sok the leader of the Fimbul Horde or rather the Undead Brigade and while he was burning everything he had he lost his physical body despite being immortal and now only a skull remains.
“It’s okay. The body is short-lived but the intellect is great!”
Despite being left with only a head Scott McGreen showed no signs of slowing down.
Emperor Azadin gave Scott McGreen the title of Archmage and encouraged him to rebuild Banrung Academy and write for future generations.
Now that the King’s Church which valued Yaegasu’s bloodline has lost its power it may be difficult to protect humanity with only the white magic of the Suyang School and the Salvation Knights.
So Azadin decided to rebuild Banreung Academy as a systematic educational institution to train magicians.
*********
The dwarves of Banreung reconciled with the Kingdom of Arangi and benefited greatly from the reconstruction of the Academy.
As their research into red magic became more active alchemy began to gain momentum and they began to make huge profits.
Above all since Emperor Azadin’s imperial family was located in the Kingdom of Banling he was able to reap all the benefits of trade.
The Sion of Korasar the Dwarven Dynasty of Arangi the Sram of Btuma and the Jibek of Ethar Banling.
The four southern kingdoms were established by the aides of Emperor Azadin who seized the throne and set the foundation of the country right and Chitai also established the government right again by enthroning the Xianbei Garasan as king after finding the legitimate bloodline of the Northern Dynasty.
The five kingdoms including the four southern kingdoms and Chitai became steadfast allies of Azadin.
However there was a fatal flaw in this alliance: Emperor Azadin of the New Testament was becoming increasingly sleepy.
At first I slept three hours a day (six hours) but soon it became four and now I was sleeping for more than half the day.
The Emperor’s life was gradually fading away like a candle burning out.
“Fate is cruel Your Majesty.”
Medium stroked Azadin’s hair as he lay sleeping and examined his body.
Azadin rolled over and buried his head in her lap.
Looking at this it looks like he is sleeping comfortably but he is not easily awakened even by slight stimulation.
I feel like my life is fading away.
“Your Majesty. You may have already achieved what you wanted and have no regrets about life but I am different. I cannot let you go so easily. Because I am carrying your child. Shouldn’t you name the child and hold him? You must know that you who have lived as a soulless blasphemer insulted and despised have a warm soul and a child who will inherit that soul and bloodline.”
Medium whispered words into Azadin’s ear that might not even reach him.
But Azadin does not answer and remains asleep.
“Ahem.”
And it was Ismail who cleared his throat on Azaddin’s behalf.
He entered the emperor’s carriage and bowed his head.
“What’s wrong Ismail?”
“Your Majesty we have received a call from the Rescue Knights.”
“what?”
“They say that a shining feather is lying where the angel statue disappeared. And they say that all the Celestial Fires are having the same dream.”

“Same dream?”
“Yes. It is called the fourth angel’s dream.”
“The fourth angel?”
Medium was surprised by those words.
The fourth angel?
Are you referring to the angels who succeed the Archangels of the Trinity?
“What should we do? Sir Karna and Sir Ismila would like His Majesty to come to St. Mallory in person to see the scene.”
“But how can Your Majesty travel such a long distance…?”
“The Church of Mercy says they will open the door with green magic.”
“The Mother Superior? Her power could be dangerous if overused.”
She was a Shade Hag who converted to the head of the Order of Mercy and helped transport many troops during the Fimbulbert War playing a significant role in the battles.
But the price was so high that she too was on the verge of extinction.
But is she saying she will lend me her strength?
“Personally I have no need to decline. Perhaps I can save Your Majesty.”
“Okay I will tell His Majesty.”
That’s when Medium answered like that.
“Hmm.”
Azadin opened his eyes in bed.
“I’ve been sleeping a lot lately.”
“Have you coughed Your Majesty?”
“Of course Your Majesty. Shall we go to St. Mallory’s?”
“yes?”
“But is your empress okay? If you have a child you have to be careful of your health…”
Surprisingly Azadin seemed to be aware of what was happening around him even though he was asleep.
Medium shook his head in embarrassment.
“I’m a messenger. I’m much more trained than the brothel woman.”
“I don’t think it’s a matter of training. Anyway let’s go to St. Mallory.”
*********
Inside the underground passage of St. Mallory the headquarters of the Knights Templar there was a sanctuary where a statue of an angel was kept.
Originally a square in an ancient city the city ground sank and a new city was built on top turning it into an underground passage. This place was once managed by the Wisdom Order.
However when the Wisdom Order fell into corruption the terrible secret arts they were studying caused all kinds of magical creatures monsters and the corpses of fallen angels with the power of death to swarm making the name Sanctuary seem like a place closer to hell.
However after the end of the Fimbulbert War the Celestial Fire Knights began to devote their utmost efforts to subjugating all of those monsters.
The headless lich archmage Scott McGreen the blood mage Bernard Half-Vampire Niselda and the wild druid Cedrin also joined the expedition and successfully cleared the way to the Sanctuary.
So I was able to arrive at the sanctuary without any problems even though I was pregnant with Medium.
“It was once my dream to come here and see the majesty of the angels.”
Azadin walked through the sanctuary with a bitter smile.
Medium tried to support him but Azadin refused her help and shook his head.
“When I’m awake I’m not in bad shape. I don’t feel sick. As long as I don’t use any divine magic I don’t bleed.”
Just gradually weakening and slowly falling asleep and dying.
Such was Azadin’s condition.
Medium felt heartbroken when he saw Azadin like that.
Although he wanted to somehow extend Azadin’s lifespan he refused to become a vampire or undead.
It’s an absurd thing.
The great emperor who saved mankind relied on sorcery to extend his life.
“Your Majesty you have arrived.”
“Here it is.”
The commander of the Celestial Fire Knights Lord Karna and his vice-captain Lord Izmilla were delighted to welcome Azadin.
“So why did you call me?”
“I had a dream about the fourth angel.”
“So following the dream I arrived at this sanctuary and saw a feather of light…”
“Where is the feather of light?”
“We can only see it occasionally but we cannot reach it.”
“It seems to exist in a different dimension from ours like a rift in the Nether of the past.”
“It’s almost time to show you…”
As soon as Lord Karna finished speaking a dazzling light suddenly began to shine in the middle of the sanctuary.
Azadin flinched at the sight of the light.
In the light someone was calling out to Azadin.
[Come here you who have liberated the Archangels of the Trinity.]
“Who is it?”
[I am Arael.]
“what?!”
Azadin was startled by the words of the being who claimed to be a familiar name. Could it be that Arael had ascended? But it wasn’t Arael’s voice?
The question was answered by the person concerned.
[He is what humans call the angel of justice.]
“….”
The names of Azadin and Arael were originally taken from the old myths of the Herald Clan. It was an old Aragasa myth in which the angel of justice Arael and the dragon of Muan Asahdin fought over the creation and destruction of the universe.
However he was claiming that the being in front of him was Arael.
“Oh in this case my name is a bit….”
Azadin’s name is taken from the dragon Asahdin the arch-rival of Arael.
[Liberator of the Trinity Archangels your help is needed. Darkness is creeping into the world and the forces of the dragon Azadin are destroying our world.]
“The Four Dragons Azadin…..”
Arael the angel of justice also called the dragon’s name in the Hybris pronunciation.
Azadin smiled bitterly when he heard that.
‘Azadin the Dragon of Destruction. My name really is in bad taste. Aren’t the messenger clan members too malicious in naming me? Oh in this case is it the work of the leader Hatir?’
“If circumstances allow I would like to help.”
[Then take my feather.. it will heal you.]
A feather that had fallen to the ground rose and flew towards Azadin.
Azadin hesitated for a moment looking at the feather that seemed within reach.
“You’re going to heal me?”
[Yes it is not enough but that feather is my blood and flesh so it will be able to relieve a significant amount of the emptiness that is gnawing at you.]
“What if I refuse to follow my mission after I am healed?”
[I will be content to heal the sick. Of course this will take a significant amount of my power away weakening me and making our world even more vulnerable to the dragon Azadin but I know you have already sacrificed so much to save Hybris. My brothers and sisters are grateful for your devotion and you deserve it.]
Azadin chuckled when he heard that.
“The angel really knows how to move people’s hearts.”
Azadin willingly accepted the feather.
When Azadin took the feather of light into his mouth it turned into a stream of blood and was sucked into Azadin’s body.
“uh.”
“Your Majesty. Are you alright?”
Medium looked at Azadin’s condition in confusion.
Azadin moved his body and looked back at Medium.
“I think it’s okay. Medium. If I do it right I can see our child.”
[You will see a child. It will be a daughter. You are to name her Arael after me.]
Arael the Archangel of Justice foresaw that Azadin and Midiam’s child would be a daughter and blessed them.
Azadin felt a sting when he heard those words.
Actually I had been thinking for a long time that if it was a daughter I would name her Arael.
But I never thought that I would receive permission for it from Arael the angel of justice the source of that name.
“Then what should I do?”
[Cross the sea and come to the home of the Aragasa. And you will have to use all your skills wisdom martial arts and courage. I tell you that I am only an angel not omniscient or omnipotent and I only wish to shed justice and mercy on the fate of mortals. My power is finite and good is hard to achieve so even though I have healed you I dare not ask for your devotion. Nevertheless I beg you come to the home of the Aragasa.]
Arael the angel of justice left those words behind and disappeared.
“It’s a miracle.”
“Oh my god.”
The knights and priests of the Order of the Salvation Lord Karna and Lord Izmila who witnessed the miracle knelt in awe at Azadin who had received the blessing directly from the Archangel.
*********
The Emperor was appointed by the Archangel of Justice.
The fact soon spread throughout the world through the mouths of the Rescue Knights.
As for Azadin he wanted to let them know later that he was leaving Hybris because of the difficult presence of the Northern Emperor Cohen but it was not easy to keep the mouth of the excited cleric and paladin shut.
“His Majesty the Emperor is leaving?!”
“Oh my goodness. Our world isn’t even stable yet!”
Somehow the emperor’s departure became a fait accompli.
Of course he is not the kind of person who would eat the part of himself that the Archangel of Justice gave him and then turn a blind eye to it.
From the moment he received it it became a foregone conclusion that Azadin would leave Hubris.
The problem is that there are a lot of things that need to be solved.
“Well we’ll try our best. It’s not like we just read the text.”
The scholar Garasan and his disciples as well as the Sion Etar and the Northern Aragasa of the Herald Clan boasted that they would manage Hybris well even without Azadin.
“We will guide you through the outer seas. Our Telvarin elves have already settled in Thracianun the home of Aragatha.”
The Telvarin elves volunteered to be Azadin’s guide as if they had been waiting for it.
“And Captain if you go to a new area the only thing humanity can rely on is a sharp intellect and a brilliant flame. Here coincidentally there is a darling of humanity’s intellect that is easy to carry around?”
Scott McGreen is still talking like a skeleton. Now known as Demi Lich Scott McGreen has volunteered to accompany Azadin.
Scott wasn’t the only one who volunteered to accompany Azadin.
“I will follow you too.”
Ismail stepped forward.
“If the Empress goes I can’t not go.”
“Hmm. In your case Ismail.”
“I would like to accompany Your Majesty and the unborn daughter. Please allow me to accompany you.”
“I might never be able to return home. Above all else…”
If you keep following the empress won’t you never be able to get married?
Azadin was concerned about Ismail’s situation but Ismail was surprised to see Azadin trailing off thinking that he was displeased and tried hard to appeal for his loyalty.
“Wherever Your Majesty and the Empress are that is my hometown.”
“Okay I understand.”
Azaddin worried about Ismail’s future could not bring himself to cast him out and accepted him.
“If it is the call of Arael the Archangel of Justice our tribe of Arael cannot be left out.”
The three members of Hwajopungwol Indim and Seraph Dimia also volunteered to go with Azadin.
“Isn’t that Arael?”
“It doesn’t matter. I’ve already decided to go. Oh and since Dimia takes good care of the Empress she’ll be needed anyway. Wouldn’t it be more convenient to have some women in the group?”
Indim insisted. Azadin looked at Empress Medium and she nodded.
“Sister Dimia is a great help.”
It seems like we’ve become quite close since she even calls me “sister”.
“It’s the hometown of Aragasa. We really want to go there too. If it’s a fight against the dragon Azadin wouldn’t we need strong and skilled people? Our skills are not lacking.”
“That’s true.”
Azadin also allowed the three members of Hwajopungwol to follow him.
“Then Your Majesty I have completed the Qing executioner’s hilt.”
The dwarves made the Blue Executioner’s Handle an Azuresteel spear axe used by Azadin for him as he left the continent of Hybris.
This metal handle made of Azure Steel can be transformed into anything from a short hatchet to a long halberd replacing the job of Grimthrown’s club.
“Your Majesty wherever you go I wish you good luck. We will always be waiting for your triumphant return with justice.”
The dwarves gave him the Blue Executioner and the Azuresteel Longsword.
Here Azadin boarded the ship carrying the Wendigo’s dagger and a bow full of Azuresteel arrows.
The Salvage Knights even offered to give up their flagship the Nislav but Azadin strongly refused to take the Nislav.
“Such a precious ship will be needed more by the Rescue Knights in the future. Since there aren’t many people anyway the elf ship will suffice.”
On the day Emperor Azadin departed people from all over the world gathered at the port of St. Mallory creating a sea of people.
“Your Majesty after accomplishing everything you are leaving again. You were insulted and despised as a soulless blasphemer and now that you have finally found your place don’t you regret leaving again on a long journey without being able to enjoy any happiness?”
Medium asked with a playful face.
“I have a lovely and loving wife and vassals who follow me so I am not completely empty-handed. And the Archangel of Justice gave his life regardless of whether he was betrayed or not so how could I not be happy in responding to that?”
“But isn’t it a shame to leave behind what you have? And your hometown? You might never see your hometown again.”
“Someday I will miss Huebris. And when that time comes there will come a day when I can bring my child here and introduce this place as my mom and dad’s hometown.”
“Haha. That would be great.”
“But the angel of justice Arael and the dragon Azadin. Hmm. No matter how I think about it the clans were too much for me?”
“Yes that’s right.”
Even Medium failed to defend the clan in that regard.
“I’m upset. So let’s go when I’m feeling down. Now that I’m feeling down I’ll feel less homesick. Come on let’s weigh anchor! Let’s go to Aragasa’s hometown!”
Azadin gave orders to the sailors and led Medium to his cabin to prepare for any possible seasickness.
*********
As the Emperor left Hybris his story became legend.
In legend people say:
The Emperor was chosen by the gods and angels to save the world from evil win the battle against the endless night and finally achieve dawn.
The name of Azadin the Emperor of Dawn remained in this land with immortal status.
But the worldly bards also sing:
The emperor was originally an untouchable a soulless impious person and was persecuted even among them.
Nevertheless it is said that he was able to accomplish such a great feat not only because of the protection of angels and gods but also because he held a star in his heart.
That star represented a longing for people a desire for virtue and a desire to empathize with others.
And one day when darkness falls upon this land again the Emperor will surely return.
