#510. Night of the Soulless Unbeliever 21

“Do you really need to drag others into your perverted tendencies? There must be a way to enjoy it on your own. Even Lord Astadair succeeded in rehabilitation. Didn’t you feel a glimmer of hope when you saw that?”

“This is another special treat. I am forcing people from all over the world to become the Emperor because of my perverted nature!”

As Zect spoke this time he approached first and struck with his sword.

A center-head strike is the most obvious attack but it is an attack that is easy to block with a weapon at least as powerful as a longsword.

Azadin stepped back and parried the attack with the Blue Executioner but Jecht kicked the ground stomped his feet twisted and struck with a headbutt and diagonal slash.

Even though Azadin defends the blade passes through the defense and comes in slicing through Azadin’s leather armor and cutting his upper arm causing blood to flow.

“It’s refreshing. Your Majesty! May I borrow a sword?!”

Zect laughed at the cornered Azadin and launched a series of attacks.

“I can’t be like Lord Astarte! Everyone remembers and insults my disgrace so I try to forget my shame and become numb under the influence of alcohol and then suddenly wake up with a great awakening… I can’t be that kind of productive person! The only way to prove my fire is to stand up to and fight against the fire of others! Lord Astarte! You the Emperor! If I steal and destroy the fire of everyone in the world then that will prove my existence!”

The speech of a person who had never experienced a fever in his life without any particular crisis unfolded with restrained and refined extreme swordsmanship.

Azadin was quick to block with his short sword and retreat but ended up stepping on the bugs as he stepped out of the ground he had solidified with his ceramite longsword.

‘It’s the end. I wanted to enjoy it more but I can’t let it go. Is this it?’

Jecht was confident of victory as he watched Azadin’s feet leave the ceramite raft.

    But that was then.

“I don’t want to get caught up in the perversions of someone who can’t stand on their own two feet.”

The moment Azadin said that a golden flash of light shot up from under Jecht’s feet.

The startled Jett tried to stop it but it was just burning molten metal.

The molten ceramite covered the jet.

Surprisingly in addition to Azadin’s platform another ceramite was hidden inside the bugs and burst out to attack Jecht.

The reason Azadin was helpless against Jecht’s swordsmanship was because he split his mind and moved this ceramite longsword through the ground of insects.

    “Huh!”

Jett was caught in a burning ceramite molten mass.

The surprised Jecht tried to shake off the ceramite stuck to his body but the molten metal which moved remotely according to Azadin’s will continued to stick to Jecht’s body and would not come off.

Even the ceramites that had formed a raft moved and flew towards Jecht hitting him.

The heated metal burns Jet’s flesh and catches his body.

What if we attack Azadin then?

If Azadin has to concentrate to move this molten metal wouldn’t attacking Azadin be the solution?

However the molten metal stuck to the body hardens when necessary and impedes the movement of the jet.

So Jecht tried to move the bugs to increase the aggression of the bugs that attacked Azadin.

However the bugs that touch Azadin’s body do not bite his flesh and instead burn it away.

Azadin’s body filled with sacred white magic was burning the insects as soon as they touched it preventing them from daring to bite his body.

‘If that was possible then there was no reason to use the longsword as a stepping stone because of the bugs from the beginning… Oh was it a trap from the beginning?’

Jecht realized that Azadin had been planning this from the beginning knowing the traits of the Nether Reaper that had mutated his body.

Azadin knew from previous experience that Jecht used Nether bugs and if he were still human he would quickly eliminate him with a Herald Clan attack.

The plan was to quickly destroy the head and heart with the Black Steel Shot from the Herald Clan and deal with Jecht.

However Zect has already become a being closer to a colony of insects than a human being.

When Azadin realized this he immediately called in more reinforcements and set a trap to capture Jecht.

“I am glad that Your Majesty has prepared this for me.”

It wasn’t an empty remark Zect was genuinely happy.

It was the same when I struck him with a black steel sword and when I laid a trap using ceramite.

How could you lay the groundwork like this in that one moment?

The more Azzadin’s amazing talent determination and decisiveness shine the more the proof of Jecht’s existence shines.

Prove yourself by sabotaging Azadin’s exploits.

Azadin was tired of seeing Jecht so ecstatic.

    And I also felt regret.

“If you know how to be happy about such trivial things you should have stopped doing these things and instead enjoyed other pleasures…”

Zect didn’t answer but Azadin thought he heard him say ‘That’s absurd because it doesn’t work.’

A deformed monster who is good at swordsmanship and magic that others find difficult but is unable to properly develop the desire to live.

It was struggling to prove its existence by polluting the world.

“So? You don’t run away by turning your whole body into a bug?”

“Oh I don’t think I can maintain my identity if I do that. At least my head should remain intact.”

“So is the match over then?”

“No! You must continue to be my opponent! Your Majesty!”

This time Zect began to absorb the bugs around him.

He covers the ceramite that binds his body while protecting his head with countless insects.

But at the same time Azadin’s halo of light also began to glow.

Wings of light emerge from the halo striking a fuse and a terrible force gathering at the tips of the wings.

This is the very technique that Azadin used to cut down Nether monsters all at once.

How can he display the power that was used to cut down mountains and dismember giants from afar so close up?

Jecht tried to stop Azadin but he was captured by Ceramite and there was nothing he could do.

“Hahaha. Aren’t you using a slaughter knife to catch a chicken? Your Majesty. That’s a bit….”

    “perhaps….”

    “yes?”

“Perhaps there is a way to salvation for you too Jecht. If you put in enough attention and effort.”

    “…….”

Zect made a subtle expression. It is blasphemous to talk about salvation to someone who does not want it. It is like saying that you are wrong and in need of salvation.

However Azadin had no intention of insulting him and even though Jecht himself could not emotionally empathize he could objectively understand what Azadin meant by that.

“Your sins are too great and I don’t have the time. I don’t have the luxury of caring for you or giving you any effort. Jecht. I’m sorry but please disappear.”

“Haha. That’s good. It’s a much more trivial emotion than hatred or pity….”

At that moment two beams of holy light were released towards Jecht capable of splitting even monsters in two with a single blow and even cutting down mountains.

Even if it didn’t hit directly it was a blinding light that set bugs on fire and blinded those around them.

Although Jecht created a dimensional rift to protect himself a beam of light poured into the dimensional rift burning the beings beyond the second dimension at once.

The entire body of the Zect burns with just the heat and indirect light radiating to the surroundings. In addition the moment the ceramite receives the indirect light of this brilliance it burns even hotter.

The sacred energy was resonating with the ceramite made from angel blood erasing Jecht’s unclean body.

The light emitted by Azadin faded.

The light that illuminated the whole world disappeared and darkness came.

    *********

The entire mountain of bugs was burned to charcoal and collapsed and Azadin landed on the ground.

    “Tch.”

    Azadin spat out blood-tinged saliva.

My whole body aches as if it’s going to break. My joints creak and my ligaments squeak inside me like old rope.

    “It’s over. Phew. I guess I can’t be a complete saint. I don’t even want to be.”

If he were a saint would he have saved a human as broken as Jecht? But Azadin has no time.

When considering efficiency it is right to throw away a human who is as damaged as a jet.

Even if you think about the mistakes he made it’s not justifiable to abandon someone for the sake of efficiency.

Since good exists in different forms for each person any good deed or decision inevitably contains absurdity.

“Even if the same opportunity came a hundred times I would kill them all. After all I am no saint. Even the emperor seems a bit too much. People’s expectations are too high so I’m sorry.”

Azadin lifted his empty sword hilt as he watched Jecht’s body disappear without a trace and the halo of the dimensional rift he left in the sky grow smaller.

The ceramite flowed in and fixed itself into the shape of a longsword again.

    “Cough cough…”

Azadin stumbled and coughed as he restored Aurelia Dunn blood spewing from his mouth.

Azadin staggered and turned around. The sky was still dark and dawn was nowhere to be seen.

“It seems that defeating Jecht Lord won’t solve the problem right away. The Age of Jupiter….”

The night was not over yet. Azadin felt it and moved.

    however…

    “No not yet!”

A black shadow covered Azadin’s back.

Azadin staggered and dodged the shadow’s attack but the black shadow grabbed Azadin’s ankle.

Zect who had only half of his upper body left captured Azadin.

It was clearly all burnt down to ashes but Jecht who had been resurrected from the ashes was holding onto Azadin’s ankle.

    “You’re persistent Jecht.”

“Yes! At least I’ve decided to end up with you!! Resisting you proves my existence…..”

    “I guess I should decline.”

    “yes?”

“You can’t do anything on your own so you’re just trying to cling to other people’s achievements right? Even if an angel clung to you you’d reject him if he had such impure intentions. How much less so when he’s a man whose whole body is a mass of bugs….”

    -Crack!

    Zect’s hand pierced Azadin’s leg.

Azadin lifted Aurelia Dunn but his hands were shaking just from the recoil from using divine magic just moments ago.

“You’ve grown weak. Yes that’s right. You’ve always been dying! What a pity. A person with both strength and will like you who has been caught up in such absurdity and has not achieved his goal!”

Zect enjoyed poking at Azadin’s wounds.

While Jecht held Azadin the Netherlings approached. Wendigo yetis deep-sea octopus-like beings made of tentacles and unspeakable monstrosities made of bones blades and melted flesh were gradually approaching.

But suddenly an explosion occurred between them.

A mana bomb made from the elemental wailing’s magic stone explodes sweeping away the Netherlings.

And then a sword swung down on Zect’s head.

Jibek took a knife and cut off Jecht’s head.

    “Are you alright Your Majesty!?”

Azadin’s men have arrived with reinforcements.
