Night of the Soulless Heathens – 504
by Jessie@AFNCC
#505. Night of the Soulless Blasphemous 16
If public opinion had been like before if it had been revealed that they were a herald clan they would have used that as an excuse to try to steal supplies.
However when Azadin became king and declared himself emperor subdued the southern kingdoms and was recognized by the Knights Templar the status of the Heralds also rose.
Just because they are a herald clan does not mean they can be persecuted and plundered.
Also are the messenger clan really that easy to get along with?
Moreover the power and warmth conveyed by the Emperor’s voice is amazing.
It must be a power projected from afar but the ability to call messengers and convey warmth.
No one dared to make any rash moves for fear that the Emperor’s eyes and ears would be turned towards this place while using such power.
Then the emperor’s voice rang out again.
[Do not be afraid. We are passing through the deepest dawn of this night. If you are too frightened and despair you will not be able to enjoy the joy of dawn. Until the night breaks the messengers should maintain order in each area and gather and assemble the volunteers of good will. We will open the dawn with our own hands.]
The Emperor’s voice surprisingly spoke of hope even in this situation.
“Is this night which seems to have no end merely the deepest dawn?”
“Can you believe me?”
“Hmm.”
The people were confused when they heard the emperor’s voice.
It’s honestly hard to believe that this terrible cold night that seems like it will last forever will soon end.
I don’t believe it but I want to believe it.
“If we open the dawn with our own hands are you asking us to fight again?”
Someone interpreted the Emperor’s words and told us.
Yes that’s right.
Azadin gave people hope but on the other hand he was asking for people’s help.
Don’t despair.
Don’t commit suicide.
He is saying that he wants to give us hope and strength for the fight ahead.
“Don’t make me laugh!”
“You drafted so many and now you want us to fight again?!”

The residents protested.
As Azadin recruited refugees to motivate them rumors began to circulate among skeptics that Azadin was deliberately recruiting and killing refugees.
Although Azadin was the type who spared no expense in sending his soldiers into battle his distrust deepened as he a member of the herald clan went from being a count to a king and now an emperor.
“What are you doing talking like an emperor?!”
“Isn’t this the reason why this happened? Because a soulless blasphemer declared himself emperor!?”
“that’s right!”
People complained and criticized Azadin.
Derek frowned at the sight.
Not only that but all the other messenger merchants were slightly angry at what the people said.
‘So you’re saying that you just want me to rescue you without fighting?’
To the herald clan all of whom were warriors the people’s longing seemed so shameless.
Derek was never a person who liked Azadin.
He was seriously injured while opposing Arael and had to retire from his role as a messenger and he continued to be at odds with Azadin.
I also didn’t like the fact that Azadin broke the wishes of his clan and became an enemy but then reconciled with the Etar clan.
Derek had no reason to acknowledge Azadin who had the support of House Saban as he was in a position to receive support from House Ethar.
But that doesn’t mean he didn’t know the weight of what Azadin was carrying.
He’s a guy I don’t like but he’s my kind. And what other alternative is there in this situation?
But I don’t know how to convince these kids of this.
He is also a member of the messenger clan so if he gets angry at them it will only seem like they are fighting among themselves.
They have no idea what a huge concession it would be for him who has the support of House Saban to acknowledge Azadin.
‘Damn I feel like the wounds I got from Arael are stinging again. Why do I have to feel this way because of Azadin?’
But then it happened.
“Emperor Fire would never let people die so carelessly!”
A young man who appeared to be a soldier stood up.
“Hey messenger clan. Should I support you? I trust the Emperor and will fight alongside him.”
“Who are you?”
“My name is Tarki. I even know His Majesty the Emperor.”
“…okay?”
Suddenly the temperature around us became cold.
Have you ever seen such a braggart?
It was clear that everyone thought so.
“I’m not joking. I’ve met His Majesty the Emperor in person. Haven’t you?”
“yes.”
Behind the young man named Tarki was an elegant noblewoman in mourning attire.
“It is absurd to say that he is a soulless blasphemer. He is a true knight among knights with the most passionate soul.”
She was Lady Norte Tarki’s mother.
The atmosphere completely changed when the elegant lady called Azadin the knight of knights.

“Everyone! Shouldn’t we do something!? Everyone hates the Emperor for conscripting but in this situation if the Emperor says it’s okay and doesn’t conscript would anyone believe it?”
“That’s true.”
“Oh actually I have met His Majesty the Emperor in person. He saved us.”
Even those who had been rescued by Azadin simply out of his goodwill not because of the contract for the gold coins that he had saved as he passed by began to come forward and testify.
“So the messenger clan. What should we do?”
People including Tarki gathered around and asked Derek.
Those who had been at the forefront of criticizing Azadin until just now also walked over and lined up in front of Derek as the mood changed.
“under.”
Derek also smiled bitterly.
“I never thought I would come to regard that cheeky brat as my real master.”
“What can I do? The situation is what it is.”
“And why listen to those Whibris guys talking about whether or not they have souls?”
“Then let’s get to work. Unpack everything. Feed the people and let’s go!”
Derek unpacked the supplies from the peddler’s shop and distributed them to those who volunteered.
Then those who had fallen into despair and tried to commit suicide by eating the fruit of the Grimslow tree changed their minds and regained their will to live.
I really hope that this night will end and dawn will come.
*********
“Wow! I can’t eat this!”
Scott’s voice echoed.
Scott who was entrusted with the Necro Titan by Sok felt his lack of ability.
The Necro Titan’s movements are slower than when operated by Sok.
Scott a self-proclaimed genius was also known as ‘Well he’s unlucky but he’s a genius.’
However his predecessor Sok was also an orc wizard known for his intelligence.
In terms of skill Sok was actually more outstanding.
Rather we should praise Scott for taking on the role of successor to Sok and establishing a minimal defense line.
But the situation was getting worse.
As thunder and lightning crackle in the distance and gusts of wind rise additional monsters appear as if they were originally there.
Monsters from another dimension appear leading giant bodies that seem to reach the sky.
This one is also making a Necro Titan but it is one that takes a long time to make.
In addition to the monsters human-sized Netherlings were also coming.
“Fimbul Horde! Assemble!”
The wights and vampires who had been Azadin’s enemies until just now each carrying their own flags descended in front of the ice citadel.
The undead swarm around their flag and immediately form a line.
“This is the master’s final command! Let us protect the future of the living with our immortality!”
The vampires snickered at Dahlia’s scream.
“Huh. I don’t know about that!”
“Your Majesty the Emperor! Order!”
The vampires asked Azadin to give them orders.
This means that they will not recognize Dahlia the White Knight as their leader.
It looks like there was a feud between the wights and vampires in the Fimbul Horde.
Azadin divided the authority with a bitter smile.
“Vampires with fast movement speed form a special force. Dahlia! I leave the regular undead to you.”
“yes!”
He divided the command of the main force of the Fimbul Horde into two units the vampires and the White Knight Dahlia who gave them orders.
“Fimbul Horde! Advance on foot! Vampires flank left!”
The Fimbul Horde advances at Azadin’s command.
The Netherbound are fearsome monsters but the Fimbul Horde are also undead. They charge fearlessly into the Netherbound swinging their weapons.
A massive flesh-heavy beast smashes through the ranks of the Fimbul Horde smashing undead soldiers with incredible force.
However the flesh-like monster that had broken through was buried in the thick lines of the Fimbul Horde. As soon as the breakthrough was over it was torn to pieces by ghouls that came at it from all sides.
That’s not all. Commander Dahlia and her Wight Knights cast green magic to create ice spikes that take away the Nether Force’s ability to break through and charge their troops at them.
The Fimbul Horde achieved decent results by dealing with the Nether factions who rushed in without any specific tactics and relying on their individual fighting power using their military power and organizational skills.
The flying wyvern undead and wraiths also attacked simultaneously effectively repelling the Nether faction.
“It really makes me realize that the Fimbul Horde’s reputation is not in vain.”
The elf druid Cedrin had a complicated expression on his face.
Although her hatred for the Soks who trampled on her bloodline still persists the fighting prowess of the Fimbul Horde that the Soks created was clearly the best shield for the living.
Dahlia rode an undead wyvern and cast spells on the giant monsters that flew overhead and attacked the Necro Titans completely turning the tide of the battle in her favor.
Moreover the corpses of the Nether Tribe killed by the Fimbul Horde were absorbed by the Necro Titan restoring its body to corpses and black ice.
“Yaaaah!”
As Scott shouted the Necro Titan was seen swinging its ice fist slowly.
The sight of the giant giant swinging its fist seemed incredibly slow when viewed from a distance but seeing the flesh of the monster hit explode and its body tear apart made one feel that it had tremendous power.
In fact after about 4 seconds a tremendous roar shook everyone’s ears. This is the sound of a fist colliding.
“Okay! It’s pretty much sorted out!”
The Fimbul Horde surprisingly succeeded in defeating the Netherlings who approached the citadel en masse.
But the world was suddenly engulfed in darkness.
And then in a flash of lightning a greater number of Nether hordes and monsters than ever before appeared.
“no?!”
A giant monster appeared right next to Dahlia who was flying on her wyvern.
It was an unspeakable unholy monster its entire body made of insects and chunks of flesh.
On its shoulders was a knight in golden armor above his head hovering a bizarre two-dimensional halo of crimson color.
It was an ominous halo as if space had been torn apart and a terrible gaze was being cast upon it from another world.
“Could it be Lord Jecht!”
Dahlia was excited at the sight of that ominous sight.
Her white face becomes hideously mutated and sharp teeth sprout.
