#504. Night of the Soulless Unbeliever 15

Astarte’s Divine King’s Book was glowing with a blue-white light inside his body.

Astarte who had regained his royal qualities began to use the light of the royal flower.

“Haha. Even when he was the reigning king it wasn’t like this but now it’s like this!”

Astarte gained enlightenment upon seeing the Book of the New King which granted her even greater power than when she was active.

When he abandoned his stubbornness and emptied himself Shinwangjinseo chose him.

    “Ugh!”

The nails fly around aiming for the jet.

Jecht drained the blood from his body without hiding the power of the Nether.

Use blood magic and nether magic to extract blood and transform it into horrible insects to dodge and defend against Astartair’s attacks.

    But Astarte grabbed the sword.

    -Yaegasu’s wrath!

A spear of light shoots out from the sword striking the spikes floating in the air and aiming for Jecht.

Zect avoided Yaegas’s wrath and turned his gaze to the nails.

The iron nails moving in the air colliding with each other in a chaotic manner suddenly accelerate.

The radiant energy of Yaegas’s anger spread through the spikes resonating with each other and shaking Jecht’s body.

    “Ugh!”

The jet bounced off and crashed into the windscreen decorating the Bthuma Royal Palace.

As Astarte pursued Jecht kicked the ground and fled.

The two inquisitors traded blows as they raced through the hall of the Bthuma royal castle which was divided by partitions and windbreaks.

In every room Zect’s flesh is torn away and blood spurts out.

Even though he was using the magic of the Book of the New King blood magic necromancy and nether magic he was unable to stop even one of Astartair’s Book of the New King.

Of course Astader wasn’t unilaterally trampling on Jecht either.

His body which had been ruined by drinking too much could not withstand the extreme of this new king’s book.

And then the frozen makeshift walls and windshields were torn apart revealing the outside of the castle.

Countless corpses of soldiers were strewn about.

In his search for Astarte Jecht annihilated all the soldiers in the area.

    “ah.”

Even Astadar who was seizing the opportunity was stopped by that horrible sight.

    “Why on earth?”

Jecht and Astarte are both generals but Astarte has a higher rank in name.

However the military power itself was held by Jecht.

In other words if it was Jecht’s will to command most of the soldiers there would have been no reason to kill them.

However Jecht had come to find Astarte killing soldiers who were no different from his own people.

“I killed him because I was afraid that my heart would become dull.”

    “Hmm!”

Astarte grabbed the leather strap and swung it.

The spikes that had been floating freely in the air all returned to his leather strap and stuck themselves into it. Astarte swung the leather strap around widely and stuck seven spikes into Jecht’s body.

    -Yaegasu’s wrath!

And Yaegas’s anger was directed at the head of the largest nail.

The energy of the radiance was conducted through the spikes and burrowed into Jecht’s body burning the Nether-tainted blood within his body and burning Jecht alive.

    “Ugh!”

    Jecht screamed in excruciating pain.

His golden armor burst apart and his body was shattered into pieces scattering in all directions.

“Ject. How dare you do such a thing.”

“Ha ha ha. Then Lord Astarte. Why did you expect me to betray you? Could you tell me the reason? No matter how trivial the reason I don’t care. I want to hear it from your own mouth.”

“You don’t love only yourself like other small people. You don’t love anything. You’ve never loved before. All that exists for you is absurd suffering. But you’re talented. No matter how talented you are you still kill innocent people!”

“I see. Since I have nothing to love I thought I would betray you someday. Did you think so?”

“Yes. You don’t know happiness. If you had only pursued desires and pleasures like the small people you would have been satisfied with the promise of the throne. Neither power nor wealth nor honor will make you happy. But since you are not undead I expected that you would change someday…”

    Astarte raised her sword.

It was to hit Jecht’s head which was still burning from being impaled on a nail.

But then suddenly something strange happened.

The fire of the Book of the New King goes out inside Astarte’s body.

    That’s not all.

The light of the king’s flower suddenly began to fade.

    The sky is getting dark.

Suddenly even the stars lose their light and the whole world becomes dark.

    “no!?”

Astarte was taken aback by the sudden surge of intoxication.

He was standing up after repairing his damaged body with the power of the New King’s Book but when the power of the New King’s Book disappeared he became intoxicated even though he didn’t drink it and it paralyzed him.

And it was not a project that would miss that gap.

    -Phew!

    Jecht’s sword pierced Astarte’s chest.

    “Ugh?!”

Astarte was horrified to see that Jecht who had been torn to pieces by the nails was still alive and moving in this situation.

Both arms and legs have already been cut off.

However Jecht managed to move his body by mutating his own blood and flesh and stabbed the sword into his body.

“How long has it been since you have been able to absorb the power of the Nether to such an extent? It is because of this that your entire body….”

Astarte looked in horror as she saw the Jecht piercing her chest.

“That was great Lord Astarte. If only I had done just a little more I could have killed you. As expected of the new king. As expected of Lord Astarte. But I guess I was overconfident in my own abilities.”

Zect turned to Astarte and praised her broken bodies.

The flesh from his arms and legs that had fallen to the ground became countless martens swarming around his body and entangling themselves.

The foxes all come together and transform into Zect once again.

    “Ject…..”

Astarte was struck in the chest with a sword and fell to her knees on the ground.

The cold air from the bluestone floor chilled Astadair’s bleeding body.

But even in the cold air Astarte remained conscious and looked at Jecht.

A soft halo began to glow from Zect’s head.

A halo of light symbolizing divinity appeared to Jecht at this moment.

But this light was a feast of ominous reds and purples.

The power of the Nether was granting divinity to Jecht.

“I can’t believe I’m opening the era of Jupiter with my own hands. Even though I’m a person who has no love and is indifferent I’m still a little moved at this moment.”

    “…I’m sorry.”

Astarte closed her eyes apologizing to someone she didn’t know.

Zect approached Astarte and grabbed the sword he had stuck in his chest pulling it out.

Astarte’s body fell limply blood spurting out.

    *********

    “Are you okay Sir Jecht?”

“What the heck!? How did you do this?”

    The Telvarin elves approached Jecht.

But Zect waved his hand and rejected their approach.

“You need not be so surprised. Before entering the castle I split my body and hid it underground. Then the moment Lord Astarte came out after me I was able to safely insert my sword into the quartz throne.”

Jecht split off part of his body and gave him the Sword of the Nether which he placed in the Quartz Throne.

Of course if he did that Astarte who was sitting on the throne would notice so he picked a fight with him and pushed him away from the throne.

Astarte could never have imagined that there would be such a terrible relic that could open the Age of Jupiter simply by touching the throne so what happened to him at the hands of Jecht was inevitable.

    “Still it was great.”

Zect walked through the broken castle of Btuma staggering.

Although he was victorious he was also mortally wounded.

The wounds that Astarte had inflicted on him were so horrific that they would have killed a normal person ten times over.

In particular the wounds inflicted by the sacred power of the Shinwangjinseo were burning even more intensely now that he had become a member of the Nether.

Even though Jecht’s entire body had been transformed into a Nether monster when he closed his eyes and looked at his own body he saw the spikes that Astarte had driven into him eating away at his body like burning lumps of coal.

“Then I must concentrate on restoring this body. Lord Astarte. Your fight was not in vain. In this age of destruction you may be considered the one who has shown the most kingly actions except for King Azadin.”

It was the highest compliment Zect could give.

    *********

    The endless night continued.

Grimsworn the god of the Nether loves humans and protects them by creating shelters with his trees but the mercy of Grimsworn an otherworldly god is so twisted that it cannot be fully expected.

When food runs out and they are isolated they eat the fruit from the trees in their shelter and are protected by Grimslow and transformed into his followers.

With terrible words that turn you into a living tree.

But who can hope when the night continues the cold seems eternal and the Nether giants roam the mountains and fields in the distance?

“Don’t eat this fruit! If you eat this fruit you’ll turn into a monster!”

“Shut up! We’re finished anyway! Let me eat!”

“If you eat to death at least your clothes will look pretty!”

Those controlling the shelter were preventing people from eating the Grimslow fruit but the hungry were running wild trying to eat the fruit.

“You crazy bastards! If you eat it you won’t be the only ones who turn into monsters! That monster will kill the remaining survivors! I don’t understand why you’re stopping me!?”

“Then give us food! If we put food in our mouths will we go crazy and become monsters too?!”

Eventually a fight breaks out among the survivors over what little supplies remain.

But then suddenly a warm energy emanated from in front of them.

A warm atmosphere spread among the merchants of the Korasaru Bobusang Guild.

And at that moment everyone heard a voice.

[According to the old covenant the Emperor calls! Respond messengers!]

    The emperor’s voice rang out.

    The bewildered merchant looked around.

    “Hey me?”

    “I can hear it too.”

The same merchant asked in confusion.

    “Mr. Derek?!”

    “Hmm.”

Derek a former herald and current executive of the Peddler’s Guild was startled by the sudden sound of the Emperor’s voice.

The Emperor’s voice would have faded and disappeared and furthermore this was not just a simple transmission of words.

Through them he was speaking to all the people.

‘We are trying to communicate with the people by resonating with the grimoire within us.’

    Derek watched people’s reactions.

When they realized that they were a herald clan people’s expressions changed.

“Are you a spy? You’re going around acting like a merchant.”

“I have quite a bit of food and supplies.”

    “But the messenger clan…..”

People hesitated their gazes mixed with greed fear and bewilderment.
