#501. Night of the Soulless Blasphemous 12

Jibek uses divine magic to subdue the undead.

A powerful blow radiates around Zibek breaking his neck causing bones to jut out and his spine to bend.

Also the earth elemental summoned by the wild druid Cedrin swings its fist made of stone to strike down the approaching giant living dead.

The undead that were rushing in fell like autumn leaves.

However the black magic emanating from the Black Ice Citadel resurrects the fallen undead.

    Immortal as the name suggests.

Compared to undead that rise again and again no matter how many times they are killed humans accumulate fatigue even when using magic or swinging weapons.

Just the road to the castle was a forced march that would have made it not strange to die from overwork.

Even if you fight while forgetting your fatigue due to the excitement of battle you will naturally lose your energy when you see the undead that keep rising no matter how many times you kill them.

“Everyone just hold on a little longer!”

In this situation what actually worked well was Scott’s command skills.

Scott cast a spell called ‘Black Frenzy’ that confused the undead causing them to attack anyone in the area especially their own comrades breaking the enemy’s ranks.

And during that gap Ismail was seen coming down to rescue the empress.

“The Empress has been rescued! Retreat!”

    “No! That’s impossible!”

Dahlia an elven white knight cast a spell to revive the undead that had fallen into a black frenzy.

“I’m sorry but your skills aren’t even close to mine.”

Scott said so but other white knights joined Dahlia in casting spells.

If the precision of the order is low the plan is to overwhelm it with quantity.

    “…uh?”

Indeed one by one the undead escape from the black frenzy.

A panicked Scott cast his black frenzy again but more undead had already rushed towards the empress and Ismail was unable to escape with the empress due to the undead piled up in front of him.

    “dahlia!”

Sedrin stepped forward to kill Dahlia but Dahlia retreated every time and tried to surround Sedrin who was digging deeper.

    “Is the poem serious?”

Medium was confused as he watched the situation.

Although those who came to rescue were the elite of Azadin’s generals Lord Sok’s Fimbul Horde was also an undefeated force worthy of its reputation.

It seems that they came simply out of loyalty to Azadin without any troops due to the extreme cold of Fimbulbert. Is this really okay?

It was a time when I wondered if I would be able to get out alive.

    -Pfft!

    “Ugh!”

A long rapier struck Ismail in the thigh.

    “Ismail?!”

Before they knew it a group of masked handsome men and beautiful women had gathered behind them.

Vampires belonging to the Fimbul Horde have appeared.

The vampires wearing masks like participants in a ball were looking this way holding dueling rapiers.

    “shit!”

Ismail clicked his tongue at their distance.

The opponents were the elite vampires of the Fimbul Horde but when their concentration was fully intact they would never be ambushed from this distance.

Ismail had expended so much physical and mental energy getting here that he ended up getting stabbed a fatal injury for an escapee.

The vampires snicker and circle around Ismail. They are not in a hurry to hurt Ismail. The longer they delay the more they know the situation is in their favor.

“Lord Jibek! Please take care of the Empress!”

Ismail threw the handcuffed Midiam onto the stair railing.

Throwing the empress down the stairs with her hands tied!

However the empress also held down the handcuffs of the messenger family Medium and slid down the stairs to maintain her balance.

    “Ismail!”

Ismail ignored the attacks from vampires flying in from all directions and looked at Medium.

If it was the last time I saw someone alive I wanted to see them in Medium.

    however….

[According to the old covenant the Emperor calls! Respond messengers!]

Suddenly the emperor’s voice was heard.

    “what?”

At that moment suddenly objects around you appear to be moving slowly.

Ismail was shocked as he watched the vampires’ swords slowly stabbing towards him.

Dying from exhaustion while saving Midiam was the death he had been longing for.

But being stabbed to death by such a slow sword was suicide.

If you take it slow enough you won’t get tired and have to take it. If you take it slow like this you won’t be able to take it.

It might have seemed like he died because he wanted to die rather than because he sacrificed himself for the medium.

Without thinking Ismail kicked the ground dodging their attacks and swinging his sword.

The vampire’s torso is easily cut open by the sword.

Ismail dodged the flying rapiers with a width of a paper thin line and slashed at the vampires.

He is clearly too exhausted to move a single finger but even though his legs are completely bruised from being stabbed with a sword he miraculously moves.

    “Ugh?!”

    “Why all of a sudden!?”

The vampires were taken aback by Ismail’s sudden display of incredible power.

    Ismail was also embarrassed.

    It’s full of power.

Is it because of the Emperor’s call?

Inside his body the magic book of flowers birds wind and moon was emitting powerful power.

I got stabbed in the leg but I didn’t feel any pain. I couldn’t help but feel dizzy.

    “Isn’t that so fast?”

“I’ve come through the bitter cold of Fimbulbert and I still have this much energy left?!”

The vampires were shocked to see Ismail’s suddenly revived energy.

Ismail who had been exhausted suddenly regained his energy and it wasn’t a bluff.

The vampires retreated with such force that there was no room to even insert a needle.

“Don’t push yourself too hard! Time is on our side! The Master’s protection is protecting us in this fortress! It’s just more vigorous than you’d expect but we can take our time and conquer it! Drink Asajit’s blood and recover!”

The vampires that were hit by Ismail’s sword headed to the fountain of blood to recover from their wounds while other vampires took their place and tried to surround Ismail.

But then a dazzling light burst forth from in front of the Sandokar Gate.

A man with a flaming sword appeared in front of the Sandokar Ice Citadel.

Azadin who should have been thousands of miles away somehow appeared in front of the Sandokar Ice Citadel.

He began to climb the steps of the ice citadel carrying the blazing Aurelia Dawn.

    “Your Majesty.”

Everyone was surprised to see that he looked much better than expected.

The image of Azadin remembered by all the ministers who had come here not just Midiam or Ismail was that of him carrying the world on his back and slowly dying.

But now Azadin was walking proudly holding a blazing ceramite longsword.

His previous weakness seemed to be fading away but instead he was burning with energy and a faint halo on his head was clearly visible from afar.

Divine power was emanating from Azadin’s body.

Even though the light of the King’s Flower has disappeared the sacred white magic is still there. It feels like it has become stronger than before.

    “Sir Sok! Stop fighting!”

Azadin called out Lord Sok’s name.

At that moment the Necro Titans fighting far to the east stopped.

Perhaps Lord Sok who was moving the Necro Titan was agitated.

The fish-man monster took advantage of the gap and unleashed a terrifying torrent of water blowing off the Necro Titan’s head.

The head of the Necro Titan made of black magic ice and charcoal is slowly shattered by a high-pressure jet of water.

But it was like an avalanche seen from afar and the moment the head of the approaching Necro Titan hit the ground an earth-shaking impact and loud noise engulfed Sok’s undead army.

But Sok paid no attention to it and looked at Azadin.

“How surprising Emperor. You have returned to the throne alive?”

Sok who had been manipulating the Necro Titan from the top of the Ice Spire let go and turned around.

As he kicked the ground black magic enveloped his body and he appeared in front of Azadin.

Whites and vampires stood beside Sok and surrounded Azadin.

Countless undead surrounded Azadin but Azadin only had eyes for Sok.

“Wonderful Emperor. I have suffered as I watched the Knights lose faith lose strength and become corrupt. I have only waited hoping that one day someone with both virtue and faith would rise up and restore the value of the Knights. But I never thought that not only from within the Knights but from outside and that you a member of the Herald Clan would show up with the faith of the Knights!”

    Sok praised Azadin.

For Sok who had been a member of the Knights Templar for many years and had watched the order become corrupt lose faith and lose power Azadin appearing outside the Knights Templar with the Knights’ beliefs felt like a revelation.

“Lord Sok. Do you still want to turn humanity into the undead?”

“Your Majesty I have always thought only of that. If I did not do so I would not be able to protect this world.”

A whirlwind of conflict began to brew between Azadin and Sok.

A cold icy whirlwind sweeps through and thunder and lightning light up the world.

In the darkness of Fimbulbert where the sun had not yet risen only the light from the thunderbolt and Azadin’s sword illuminated the two.

    “If you trust me?”

“Emperor. I offer you my praise. But do you know why the emperor before you Yaeslat united the continent and disappeared? You are the same. You may be fine now but your life is burning even at this moment.”

Azadin smiled bitterly at Sir Sok’s words.

“If this continues you will die. Just as Emperor Yaeslat before you did. The empire you have built will be scattered and your beliefs faith and virtue will fade.”

Azadin’s physical condition is now better than ever but that is because he was freed from terrible pain.

Just as Yaeslat died without leaving a proper successor causing the Eight Kingdoms to split once again Azadin also died.

“Emperor accept immortality. Extend your life and protect virtue. Join me in protecting the world and the Knights Templar will gain an eternal guardian of virtue.”

Sok advised Azadin to remain alive and achieve greater things and to do so he became undead.

    “That can’t be.”

“Why? Your Majesty. Do you hate being undead?”

“Sir Sok. I was the lowest of the heralds and someone who took pity on me gave me the Fables of the Order of the Salvation. My faith is not something I was born with but rather a mirror reflecting the light I received from others. I cannot monopolize it as if I had realized it alone from the beginning as if I had gained it from my relationships with others.”

Azadin smiled as he reminisced about his childhood with Aldis.

Even in this apocalyptic world where the sun never rises and only the howling winds and thunderstorms roar thinking of Aldis makes me laugh.

“Even if millions of people despise and insult me the kindness and virtue she showed me still brings me joy. This is my miracle. Compared to this the white magic I use is just magic.”

Objectively speaking Azadin’s childhood was hardly a happy one.

However people are beings who can forget painful moments and recall only happy memories.

Azadin returned to his boyish state of waiting for Aldis.

Although I have lost Aldis whenever I reminisce I find myself smiling because I feel more joy than sadness.

    “ah.”

Azadin’s subjects the whites the vampires and even the Soks were shocked to see Azadin’s smile.

Even in this darkness where there was nothing but despair even in the midst of this terrible night he was shining with pure joy.
