Night of the Soulless Heathens – 496
by Jessie@AFNCC
#497. Night of the Soulless Blasphemous 8
Empress Midiam was kidnapped but Azadin could not go to rescue her right away.
Since Medium had brought the expeditionary force to Caspar and was kidnapped by Lord Sok there were still many human troops scattered around Caspar.
Azadin had to unite them and reorganize them teaching them divine magic that would allow them to survive the cold.
It’s heartbreaking that I have to prioritize this task and not rush to Medium’s life even though it’s hanging in the balance.
“Your Majesty the Empress is in a dangerous situation. You should ignore us and go rescue her…”
“Of course I know why you are doing that but….”
The knights were worried about Azadin perhaps because they were unaware of his situation.
They also knew why Azadin was wasting his precious time training them.
Azadin had to teach them himself because they were incompetent and could not adapt as they were.
“We’re sorry. We were stupid and foolish…”
“No don’t blame yourself. Sir Zibek and Ismail said they left to rescue her. I believe them.”
“still.”
Once a defeated force now part of the Rescue Knights they hesitated as they looked at the giant ice pillar that Sok had created.
If Azadin trusts his men he has good reason to but I doubt they can handle that Sok.
The power of Lord Sok who appeared to kidnap the empress was so great that it would not be an exaggeration to call him the incarnation of black magic.
Even to those who are not familiar with magic Sir Sok’s abilities were beyond the pale.
Not that I doubt the abilities of Zibek or the other commanders but no matter how highly I rate their abilities Sir Sok had a power of a different order.
“If you’re worried about that get used to it quickly. You have to get used to it quickly so I can go rescue the empress.”
Azadin taught his soldiers how to operate the sleds and also had them practice magic to ward off the cold.
But it really doesn’t increase.
These so-called hospitalists were good at using healing magic and divine punishment magic but they were all terrible at learning new magic.
Except for a few outstanding ones the sled could not withstand the acceleration and overturned turning Azadin’s stomach upside down.
If you think about it it’s only natural.
Even one or two small boats require at least 30 hours of training to get out into the flowing river.
Moreover the strong winds that are blowing right now are so strong that it is difficult to even control one’s body. It was an unreasonable request to expect a land sled which is operated in a similar way to a yacht to handle it better in a shorter period of time.

There’s no need to say anything more about magic.
In the meantime Sok will try to turn Medium into undead…
Azadin felt a black magic lingering in the air and his teeth chattered.
Even now Sok was projecting black magic into the world freezing those frozen by Fimbulbert’s shocking cold into undead and using that power to fight against the Nether’s minions.
If Lord Sok with such immense power were to turn Medium into undead… would he be able to handle it?
What if Medium becomes undead? What if he becomes a wight or a vampire like Sedrin’s blood relatives?
My head is getting complicated.
But then another accident occurred where the trainees’ sled flipped over.
We were practicing steering the sled near the trees of Grimslow to avoid the strong winds but the speed was too fast.
Even stepping on a small protrusion on the ground would cause the sled to fly up and cause a major accident but this time the sled flipped over completely causing casualties.
But then suddenly magical powers intervened and the sled lifted into the air.
“no?!”
Azadin was surprised to realize that someone else had used magic outside of his protective magic to rescue the soldiers.
Fimbulbert was a place where any human would freeze to death in an instant outside of Azadin’s protective magic.
The one walking through the frozen air reached out and cast a spell towards the bouncing sled.
The sled stops in midair and slowly falls.
Thanks to this the trainees inside were able to land safely.
“uh….”
At least I could tell that the other side wasn’t hostile towards me.
“Your Majesty.”
The other person spoke to me. But the voice sounded familiar.
“What is this?”
It was a voice that was especially familiar to Azadin.
Arael’s voice. His sister Arael’s voice was calling him from the darkness.
“Is that a Shade Hag?”
“It’s not entirely wrong.”
The person who said that and appeared from the darkness was a black-haired beauty.
She was a tall woman with ebony hair and purple harconian eyes.
Dressed in the habit of a nun of the Order of Mercy she walked through the cold of Fimbulbert holding a girl infected with Nether cells.
“Arael…..”
Azadin groaned as he watched her approach.
The girl in her arms also looked like Arael when she was young.
A grown Arael approaches holding Arael from her childhood.
What is this?
Such were the whispers of the Shade Hags to Azadin when he was in despair and indeed he felt a strong green magic from her.
She bowed her head in front of Azadin and showed respect and her gesture was graceful.
It was a completely different dignified attitude from the Seid Hags who had been tempting and mocking Azadin.

“I am the Mother Superior of Chadra.”
“ah….”
The person who freed Niselda who was originally a vampire spawn from her mother’s bonds and is actually the head of the Chadra Convent the most powerful person in the Mercy Church has come to visit.
“I am a member of the Shade Hag Sisters. I am a remnant of an ancient goddess who comforted widows and mothers who lost their children. Inspired by the lofty purpose of the Archangel of Mercy I turned my back on my sisters and became a member of the Order of the Salvation Knights. However I was aware of the limitations of my ugly nature and held myself back so I was unable to help the Order when it was in trouble.”
As she spoke she lifted little Arael into her arms and raised her head to the level of her chest.
Then the young Arael was enveloped in light and soon turned into a bird.
The girl was the artificial spirit left behind by Arael the ‘Voice of Arael’.
“She was created by the magic of the Nether and could not withstand the onslaught of the Nether’s power. But surprisingly she sought to become your power your Emperor. Fortunately I was able to purify her despite my limited talents. Now Emperor will you accept this child as your voice?”
“Arael’s voice was with you?”
“Yes please accept it Your Majesty. It will surely be of help to you.”
“Then I will gladly.”
As Azadin responded a sphere of light flew towards him and became one with his body.
and….
[It has been a long time. Azadin. Foremost among the Hundred and Eight Heralds! You have become the Emperor? So much has happened while I was asleep. The throne of all Yaegas has become yours!]
The Emperor’s voice was revived within Azadin.
“Are you the voice of the emperor?”
[I am the voice of the Emperor and also the voice of Arael and now your voice the new Emperor.]
“That’s surprising. But the entire throne of Yaegas is mine?”
The thrones that Azadin physically came into contact with were Korsar Banrung Arangi Chitai and Assander.
Moreover it cannot necessarily be said that all of them are Azadin’s but the Emperor’s voice somehow declared that all of the Yaegas thrones were Azadin’s.
[Other kings have disappeared except for the heavenly power granted to you by the spirits of Yaegasu. What else could that be but the proof of the Emperor?]
“Ah… that.”
The spirits of Yaegasu used the Quartz Throne as a window connecting their world with this world’s continent of Hybris.
But that window was closed….
Currently the only one who possesses the power of Yaegas on this continent of Hybris is Azadin who met the spirits in person and was chosen by them.
As a result Azadin met the conditions to be recognized as emperor.
[New Emperor. Let me tell you about the treasure vault of the previous emperor. In order to stop Fimbulbert the previous emperor placed treasure vaults in various places and stockpiled power for the next generation.]
“I’ve already emptied it. Are there any other treasure chests I haven’t found?”
[…Confirmation of Treasure House opening. Confirmation of opening of all Treasure Houses from Season 1 to Season 8.]
“There were eight of them? That’s more than I opened.”
Azadin could tell from the Emperor’s voice that others had also raided the Emperor’s treasury.
The emperor’s treasury now consists of eight chambers.
However no matter how strictly they were defended such warehouses were destined to be robbed.
Since large-scale civil engineering work is needed it is inevitable that rumors will spread unless everyone involved in the civil engineering work is massacred.
[However the locations of certain relics can be tracked.]
“No don’t push yourself too hard. Before that there’s something I want to ask you. Do you have any memories of the past? When you were acting together with me?”
[Of course. My existence is based on the book of magic Flowers Birds and Wind. Even if I disappear for a moment my essence remains. I remember all the days I spent with you.]
“Then… that is the Emperor’s voice.”
Azadin felt strangely glad at the fact that the Emperor’s voice had been revived.
If you think about it even though he was just an artificial spirit created by the Emperor the Emperor’s voice had been with him ever since Azadin became the messenger.
The voice of the emperor who did not spare praise for Azadin as a true messenger even while his own people despised him.
It’s returned restored so how could we not be happy?
“Now then Your Majesty. Give orders to the Emperor’s voice. Give orders to your messengers…”
“Hmm.”
Azadin closed his eyes after hearing the Mother Superior’s words.
Sparks of magical power fly through his body like electricity instantly sweeping across the entire continent of Hybris.
The position of the Herald Clan is felt by those bound by contracts of service all over the world.
“Is this contract still not over?”
For some reason Azadin felt a little uneasy.
The Curse of Service I thought the contract was lost when the Emperor’s voice died down but it still stands.
[The contract of service itself is absolutely not a curse. It is a power that connects those who use the Flower Bird and Moon with the Emperor. Not only the messenger clan but also the northern Aragasa those who have learned the Flower Bird and Moon can become your messengers and deliver orders to them from anywhere. Isn’t that great little brother? Hurry up and deliver orders to them quickly and you must save the Empress!]
At one point the Emperor’s voice changed into Arael’s voice and gave advice to Azadin.
“I don’t really feel like it but this is not the time to be picky about the means.”
Azadin raised his magical power and gave the order.
[According to the old covenant the Emperor calls! Respond messengers!]
