Night of the Soulless Heathens – 491

#492. Night of the Soulless Blasphemous 3
When you reach the level of a captain you have probably seen Azadin’s face.
In the Azadin Army they were considered loyal brave and had accomplished great feats. They were considered to be the ones who would demonstrate the will of humanity even as the winter of destruction approached.
But despair rusted the man.
“I should have said it from the beginning. We are fighting Fimbulbert. But you are so desperate and so eager to pursue your own selfish desires. Has despair become an excuse for you to throw away your honor?!”
“Uh… that’s it.”
The drunken captain stuttered.
I think I’m still drunk and can’t come to my senses.
“Gather all the generals under your command. Is there a supply secretary?”
“That that…..”
The commander was embarrassed. The supply officers and secretaries who managed the supply base were civil servants and seeing that they were taking out supplies without permission it was clear that they had killed the civil servants and taken them.
At that moment the sergeant major’s soldiers rushed in.
“Don’t make me laugh! Are you the emperor or something!”
“I heard that they are all sick and dying…”
There was no trace of the strict military discipline and in an instant they had degenerated into nothing more than a bunch of bandits. Instead their attacks were barbaric and ferocious.
But in this dark environment they are blind but Azadin is originally a blind being.
To Azadin darkness was no different from daylight.
The spear that had been lying on the ground bounced up at Azadin’s kick.
The moment Azadin took hold of it the spear itself became a living creature crackling and flicking its metallic tongue.
As he passed by clawing at the eyes and groins of the rushing soldiers the soldiers screamed and fell to the ground.
The sergeant major was taken aback by the screams of pain and the smell of blood from those who had fallen blinded and with damaged genitals.
It looks like the alcohol has worn off.
“Your Majesty it seems your energy has recovered.”
“okay.”
“Have you recovered from the disappearance of the light of the royal flower? Because you no longer need to bear the burden?”
“It wasn’t something I wanted to do. It just happened that way.”

Azadin was worried that the captain’s words might be misinterpreted as him throwing away his mission for his own recovery so he pointed that out.
“Then does that mean that Your Majesty can’t sit on the throne again? Ha ha ha ha.”
When the captain heard that he burst into laughter and then raised his sword and held it to his own neck.
“I’m sorry I threw away my honor in despair. But I don’t want to live any longer.”
“Stop it.”
Azadin’s spear tried to knock the sword out of the captain’s hand but the captain cut his own throat before he could.
-Crack!
The spear shattered in Azadin’s hand.
The frozen spear broke unable to withstand Azadin’s evil power.
“ha.”
Azadin turned around as he watched the captain’s body fall.
Even though Azadin killed the soldiers and the captains the wounded knights around him only gave him cold stares.
“As rumored your martial arts skills are truly incredible Emperor. We are sick and weak so how could we dare to look down on your great majesty who has unified the world with only our own blood?”
The despair and anger are so great that it is not a situation where words can be heard.
“There is still hope. I beg you all. I….”
Azadin was left speechless by the cold cynicism and despair around him.
I can’t help but be speechless.
Azadin has been managing the morale of his soldiers by being bluff even in difficult and dangerous situations.
But it wasn’t easy to bring up the words hope and faith these days.
“I won’t ask you to trust me. Just protect yourself from the cold and don’t give up hope.”
Azadin left them with a word and withdrew.
Then the knight who had been rescued by Azadin asked.
“Where are you going?”
“I must find my comrades. And then I will restore the world.”
“Even in this situation? Is it really possible?”
“It is possible if you help me.”
The people around him chuckled and laughed at Azadin’s words.
It’s not like I believe it. I’m asking you to believe it without any specific method.
“The magic of the Salvation Knights is still with you. If you uphold your honor with wisdom courage and mercy you will be reborn as beings who even help the gods. That is in the age of despair…”
Azadin said so but the more he spoke the less confident he became.
Will Azadin’s own words reach those who are in despair?
Then the knight spoke.
“Your Majesty I have heard that your generals remain in Caspar.”
“Kaspar?”
“Yes. I heard that the platoon leader here is also a subordinate of the platoon leaders.”
“I understand Kaspar. Thanks.”
Azadin bowed to the knight who had provided him with the information and retreated from the wooden barrier Grimslow had created.

In fact Azadin had no idea what to do about this.
Is it really possible to solve it?
I don’t know very well.
However Azadin was not allowed to stop in despair.
The world is cold and dark.
A star still shines in Azadin’s heart but it is darker and farther away than a flickering candle and it hurts his heart.
I headed towards Kaspar relying on my memory trying to calm my mind as if it was going to break. While running through the wind I found another Grimslowe’s dwelling.
Here too madness was brewing.
Desperate people fight over supplies take castles and exploit others by breaking them and turning them into slaves.
Sometimes people would eat each other and sometimes they would all commit suicide together so there were places full of ghosts and evil spirits.
Azadin’s heart ached as he looked at that sight.
I have never had such a grand task in mind.
But that’s why he didn’t know what his subordinates would think when they had the unification of the world right in front of them.
In the beginning he embraced everyone in order to grow his power too quickly.
The result was that we were always running around busily always carrying risks inside and this was the result.
Are you really not interested in Cheonha Il Tong?
If you weren’t really interested you wouldn’t have had to rush like this.
If we had been a little more careful and done a little better wouldn’t we have ended up with this result?
“No! It would have been the same even if it wasn’t me. There was no other way! Alas! While telling others not to despair I am the one blaming myself and despairing!”
Azadin tried not to regret what he had done.
But it was unreasonable to tell him not to be in pain when the results of his hard work had borne such terrible fruit.
[Ahahaha. Azadin. Azadin. So this is what happened in the end.]
Shade Hags emerged from the darkness and taunted Azadin.
They appeared and disappeared before Azadin repeatedly in the form of Medium Arael Aldis clouding Azadin’s mind.
[Okay. Give up. You owe nothing to this world anyway. Even the Aragasas your blood relatives hate you and the others even more so. You once adorned yourself with the excessive title of Emperor but you were a foreigner who was not accepted by anyone. So why continue this fight while pouring all your heart and soul into it?]
[Give up everything and come here and lie down. We will give you pleasure.]
Ignoring the temptations of the Shade Hags Azadin silently drove the sled forward.
Neither the angels nor the spirits of Yaegas answered but the Shade Hags were chattering noisily trying to dazzle Azadin.
There was only despair and suffering in the world.
How much time has passed?
Another shelter appeared before Azadin who ran through the darkness hearing only the voices of the Shade Hags.
Inside the shelter created by Grimslow’s power people’s screams could be heard.
Azadin stopped the sled and headed inside.
Inside Minotaurs were hanging people on iron hooks and treating them like meat in a butcher’s shop.
They took out the entrails and drained the blood to make the meat taste better. While dismembering humans and turning them into meat the Minotaurs were also having orgies with each other.
It was like hell full of demons with cow heads.
And among those evil spirits with small heads there was a minotaur with a broken horn.
To humans all Minotaurs look the same but Azadin could recognize the Minotaur.
Selim was one of the Chadra Ogel and a heavy infantry captain under Azadin.
*********
Selim who rescued the Minotaur clan was rewarded.
He regained his lost brothers and sisters and godmother and was acknowledged by them as the best male in the tribe.
With wives and blood relatives Selim was able to live for the first time among his own kind rather than as a stranger among men.
And then his new wife got pregnant.
As the commander of Azadin’s army only happiness and glory seemed to remain for him.
But the emperor’s protection suddenly disappeared and the sun disappeared.
As Jupiter replaced the Sun and eternal night arrived the Emperor and Empress disappeared.
Selim led his men and compatriots to seek refuge.
But then a fight broke out between the same race and humans.
There were those who quarreled with their fellow countrymen for taking good positions and good supplies.
The Minotaurs who prided themselves on being Selim’s closest associates were indignant and killed humans.
Although they did this to protect themselves they were slaves to the evil Telvarin elves.
He does not know how to interact with others except how to rule over slaves.
The refuge was immediately divided between the Minotaurs and the other races as they returned to the people the way they used to talk with whips and rule with fear.
Selim held a trial to deal with the situation and punished those involved.
However Selim’s trial which was conducted without any training in law was like a game of judgement and only produced an ending that satisfied neither the perpetrator nor the victim.
And in the meantime the gazes of his human subordinates the heavy infantry soldiers who had been loyal to Selim became as cold as the air now.
Until then it had been no problem that Selim was the Minotaur.
But now that the conflict between Minotaurs and humans has become more frequent the fact that Selim is a Minotaur has become a problem.
‘The Minotaur is a monster. It can never coexist with humans.’
Selim was hurt by the attitude of such people and the Minotaurs also felt threatened.
So they attacked people more and more and duels to kill in the name of honor became popular.
No matter how well-trained a soldier or knight was if they were to engage in a one-on-one duel with a Minotaur they would inevitably be killed.
People died in duels and duels and the Minotaurs processed the corpses of the dead people into meat.
Selim tried to punish the Minotaurs who committed murder but…
This time we face opposition from the Minotaurs.
And that was the first time I felt the power of my people and felt fear.
