Night of the Soulless Heathens – 489

#490. Night of the Soulless Blasphemous 1
“hmm?!”
Azadin opened his eyes in surprise at the cold air.
Originally his health was so poor that he couldn’t even feel the cold properly.
But then suddenly my physical condition improved to the point where I felt cold.
‘Why is it so cold all of a sudden? But my body feels full of energy. What on earth is going on?’
He looked around and saw that everything was dark and quiet. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness he saw that he was sitting on a throne in a dark dark room with the lights off and strangely there was no one around him.
‘Why is there no one?’
When Azadin touched the quartz throne he found that it had turned into just an ordinary stone.
“What’s going on?”
When Azadin raised his voice it was hoarse in his throat which was parched from not being able to drink water and losing blood.
“Tsk tsk.”
For a while I had to struggle to keep my lips and throat moist by drooling.
The connection with the spirits of Yaegasu was cut off. Maybe that was why the pain that had always plagued his body was disappearing.
The pain that had been tormenting his body like fate disappeared and the power of the fiery Shinwangjinseo that had been boiling inside his body also disappeared.
The king’s power is gone.
But thanks to that Azadin is now in better condition than ever.
Is it because my physical condition has improved? I was extremely hungry.
“Hey. Is anyone there?”
Azadin rose from his throne and looked around.
There are no people.
Since ascending to the throne as the King of Banreung he has always been accompanied by guards and servants but now for some reason everything around him is quiet.
Looking at the dark and cold palace of Chongqing Azadin absentmindedly searched through his arms.
Azadin’s weapons were handed over to Midiam as a token of his request for military authority.
All that was left to Azadin now was a small dagger for sharpening arrows a quiver of iron-tipped moonbows and a quiver of arrows.
“Is there no one? What the…!”

Azadin called out to Arael’s voice.
But Arael’s voice is not heard.
“How long have I been down there? Hmm. I’m hungry.”
As my body which had always felt sick regains its energy I feel a strong hunger.
Hunger thirst and curiosity about his surroundings made Azadin cautiously lower himself and pass through the castle.
I feel an unusual cold. My breath freezes.
‘An ordinary person wouldn’t be able to endure this cold.’
Azadin opened the royal chamber door. It was a woman’s chamber and there were incense bags hanging there tea sets tea tables and elegant embroidery frames.
Azadin absentmindedly looked at the leather clothes hanging on the hanger.
It was an expensive item made of sable leather but when Azadin touched it the ice frozen on the outside began to evaporate and emit steam.
If it were raccoon skin it would be the best winter product but its surface is completely frozen.
Azadin shook off the outer ice wrapped it around his body and looked around.
There were sweets and food on the tea table but these were also completely frozen.
Azadin broke it picked it up between his hands and concentrated his energy.
Frozen food is thawing. Fortunately it doesn’t seem to have gone bad because it’s frozen.
Azadin ate it and took some away looking around.
At that moment the sliding door beyond the bedroom burst open.
It was a paper-covered door but the paper was frozen and crumbled like a cookie.
“Ahh… Your Majesty the Emperor!”
“You’re awake! Thank goodness thank goodness.”
Azadin kept his mouth shut as he looked at the condition of the soldiers who had come to welcome him.
The face was clearly human but an elongated neck like a giraffe was attached to the human body.
Others are soldiers fused together with human faces on their palms walking with enlarged fingers and multiple feet raised into the sky and wiggling.
The feet became hands and the fingers became toes.
“What happened?”
“Your Majesty fell asleep and Jupiter woke up.”
“The light of the WaWaWangHwa faded… and the night continued.”
“I don’t even know the passage of time.”
Clearly Azadin had subdued the Northern Qi Dynasty and was now on the verge of unifying the country.
But the light of the king’s flower disappeared and this is what happened.
“Why have you abandoned us?”
A soldier with his hands and feet turned upside down raised his club.
Instead of answering Azadin picked up the candlestick that decorated the room and held it in his hand.
“I’m sorry but I didn’t mean to throw it away.”
“Because of you we had vain hopes! That good and justice might triumph when evil is so great!”
“I can’t wait!”
Choosing justice because you will win is not true justice.

Azadin wanted to say that but he held back.
The reality is already too harsh.
It is too cruel to ask the powerless common people to defend their cause even if it means losing dying or living in eternal pain worse than death.
“Not only that there are those who cry out that the light of the king has disappeared because of you! The messenger clan has become the emperor!”
“Do you think so?”
“I don’t know! But!”
“Blood blood smell. I’m hungry yaaa!”
The soldiers having lost their minds rushed at Azadin.
At that moment Azadin lightly kicked the ground and disappeared but before he knew it he was back behind the soldiers.
Surprisingly in this situation Azadin’s body is light nimble and even strong.
Azadin stabbed the large soldier from behind with a bronze candlestick instantly shattering his spine and sending the bronze candlestick piercing through the soldier’s torso.
Compared to the steel weapon it was a soft bronze but it pierced through the torso of a soldier as thick as a log and not a single decoration on the candle holder was bent.
“your majesty!”
“I’m sorry!”
Azadin pulled out the arming sword from the waist of the disabled soldier who had been struck by the bronze candlestick. He then launched himself and landed behind another soldier who was slamming into him.
-Snap!
As Azadin landed on the ground and snapped his sword with his fingers the soldier’s head was cut off in response to the sound.
The swordsmanship was so fast and accurate that even if he cut off a soldier’s head it would still be attached to his body for a while.
“Dodododo is back…”
The soldier who could not speak properly spoke to Azadin opened his mouth and poured out green sap.
‘Is it digestive fluid?’
Azadin dodges the liquid but it freezes for a moment and the digestive fluid falls to the ground rolling around without being able to melt the surroundings.
‘How cold is it? The digestive juices coming out of my body are freezing.’
Azadin laughed and swung his arming sword decapitating this soldier as well.
Azadin cut down the soldiers and took the necessary weapons from their luggage.
I was able to bring along a halberd a longsword and extra arrows as well as an Ashwood Longbow in case the Frozen Moonbow breaks.
There was emergency food though…
“It’s a human arm.”
Azadin threw away the severed arm of the salted man and went outside the castle.
Outside the Chongqing royal palace barricades were set up and countless corpses of monsters and dead Arangian guards could be seen in front of them.
Some of the Arangian Guard left here as the Emperor’s personal guard seemed to have died after losing all their strength while trying to block the attacks of the mutated soldiers and enemy villagers by setting up a barricade.
“For some reason a disaster occurred and the loyal subjects stayed behind to fight until they lost all their strength and died. Like this.”
Azadin prepared to salute the Arangian guards who had piled up countless corpses while they stood guard until they died.
Because of their struggles Azadin himself was able to remain on the throne without any problems.
however…
[Your Majesty are you awake?]
The corpses of the Arangian guards opened their eyes. Blue flames burned within their eyes.
The ghosts of the Arangian guards were pulled out of the corpses and walked out.
[Thank goodness you have guaranteed my safety. We were so weak that we ended up allowing the invasion of the castle.]
“They say you are the strongest unit in Hybris. Indeed. Their reputation is not in vain. You performed admirably. I fear that there is no way to repay your loyalty.”
Azadin counting the number of fallen Arangian Guards and mutants they had defeated realized how hard they had fought and praised their efforts.
[Thank you for your compliments. You are being too complimentary.]
“So what happened?”
[His Majesty lost consciousness and the Empress Dowager appointed the refugees as knights and departed for the south.]
[It was truly a magnificent and magnificent sight. The people rejoiced and were filled with pride at the miracles he had performed. However after that the Naga and the elves persuaded Lord Jecht to kill Lord Astarteer and perform a ritual in Bthuma to call upon the gods of the Nether.]
[As the light of the King’s Flower faded Jupiter awoke and the forces of the Nether engulfed humanity.]
The dead Arangian guards were clearly explaining things they would not have known while alive.
“Where’s the medium? Is the empress safe?”
[We don’t know that either.]
“I see. I understand. Thank you. Your service was so great that I could never repay it with my own incompetence. Now rest in peace.”
[Understood Your Majesty.]
[You intend to continue fighting. Be careful Your Majesty.]
[I hope you have good luck.]
[We have completed our mission so there is no need to hold a funeral for us. Please take care of yourself in this cold weather and do what you have to do.]
The ghosts of the Arangian Guard wished Azadin good luck and disappeared.
Azadin who was about to hold a funeral for the Arangian Guards smiled bitterly when he heard them refuse to even hold a funeral.
“You even take such care of me. I truly have more subordinates than I deserve. It is an honor to receive your loyalty.”
Azadin prayed for the souls of the dead bodies and went out into the world where the blizzard was swirling.
*********
The sun does not rise and the wind blows fiercely.
In the total darkness Azadin took a deep breath and used his special eyesight.
Azadin’s eyes piercing through the darkness look around.
The world has become desolate.
Even though Chungking was swept away by the Nether clans it was still a useful port so there would have been a constant flow of goods and people but it was completely covered in snow and ice and the nearby roads were deserted.
The only things roaming around are mutants and zombies that have become the servants of the Nether and you won’t see goblins or Bree or anything like that.
Azadin found a small sled nearby. It seemed to be made for soldiers to use but he saw dead people lying around it.
Their bodies were found frozen to death either from the cold or from taking off their clothes.
When sudden cold freezes the brain people feel hotter take off their clothes and freeze to death.
Perhaps that was why he took off his clothes.
“….”
Will people survive in this situation? Is humanity doomed?
Even Azadin feels despair.
but….
“I must do what I must do. Find Medium… Ah Arael. Arael what should I do?”
Azadin called Arael’s name. Arael’s voice disappeared.
Of course the current Azadin can easily use the magic of the Foresight Guardian so the reconnaissance function that Arael’s voice performed can be replaced with the magic of the Foresight Guardian.
But the loss of Arael’s legacy tormented Azadin.
I feel like my heart is going to break.
Well it would be strange if it didn’t break in this situation.
But Azadin mounted the sled threw away the anchor and spread the sail.
The sled began to roll across the snow as the strong wind blew.
