Night of the Soulless Heathens – 488

“So what are you going to do with this? It looks like something out of the ordinary but what exactly does it do?”
Jecht sensed an unusual aura from the sword brought by the elves and nagas.
“If we destroy the Quartz Throne with this sword the connection between the Yaegas Spirits and the Hybris Continent will be severed. At least until the Spirits restore that connection the King’s Church will lose all spirituality. Then a true Jupiterian era different from the past will come. Of course the Nagas will also lose their lives in an instant as sacrifices.”
The elves spoke as if they were saying this and then held out their swords. Jecht was dumbfounded by the elves’ actions.
“Then you shouldn’t show me this sword. What are you planning to do if I take it away like this?”
Jecht picked up the sword and glared at the elves.
There was absolutely no wavering in the elves’ eyes.
“I see. This is true. Since the General has taken that sword the fate of the Nagas as well as the course of this war and the future of the Hybris Continent are in your hands.”
End the endless war and establish Azadin as a great new emperor who will be remembered in history.
Or else by cutting the quartz throne with this sword you will undermine the protection of the God-King tarnish Azadin’s great work and bring him down.
Will you become the king of Korasaar and have some or will you make it so that no one has it?
This cursed Nether Sword in Jecht’s hands was the key to deciding everything.
“Ha… hahahaha.”
Zect burst into laughter.
It is clear that the elves showed this to him and gave it to him on purpose.
What do these guys think of me!
It was tempting to think that they looked down on me but the idea of holding my entire destiny in my own hands was so appealing.
“You make me laugh. Do you really think that if I had the tools to decide the fate of this world in my hands I would willingly use them to destroy it? What good would it do to turn down the throne of Korasaar which is already in my mouth and engage in such destructive acts?”
“Climb the throne of Bthuma and thrust the sword. Then the king’s protection will be removed and you will become one of the Blessed of the Nether.”
“….”
Jecht was lost in thought as he listened to the elves’ nonsense.
This is not something a sane person would do. These elves are making fun of him.
Isn’t this a no-brainer?
Who would kick away the wealth and fame that is within their grasp and become a member of the Nether clan whose very existence is threatened?
You wouldn’t do something like that unless you had some kind of self-destructive desire.

“If I were to offer up my life as a sacrifice I would be a pretty decent follower.”
His true feelings inadvertently spilled out from Zect’s mouth.
“But you must die for mocking me.”
Zect drew his sword and swung it.
The heads of the elven merchants who brought him the swords were cleanly cut off.
The nagas disguised as elves were astonished at the miraculous swordsmanship that cut off four heads with a single blow.
“You’re not elves so it’s okay. If you kill the nagas recklessly and there’s not enough sacrifices that’s a problem too.”
Jecht killed the elves and sharpened his black sword.
“Follow me. Let us go to the throne of Bthuma.”
*********
In front of the gates of Caspar Lord Sok was waiting for Empress Midiam.
Judging by the dead people around it seems that Lord Sok’s army killed them.
Are you saying that Lord Sok and the Fimbul Horde murdered Kaspar’s soldiers and villagers?
Empress Medium herself stepped forward and went to Lord Sok.
“Lord Sok what are you doing now?”
“You sold a miracle Empress. Thanks to you true cultivation has disappeared.”
Sok’s voice echoed quietly throughout the heavens and earth.
It was a strange voice not loud but clearly audible even to the person at the end of the long line.
Sir Sok was speaking not in words but in a kind of lyricism.
“Those who long for salvation will be far from salvation. Cultivation to obtain white magic is not true cultivation. You have killed the ideology of the Salvation Knights.”
“That is a great word Sir Sok. He is truly a true knight of salvation and the only true knight. But the Order has been in shambles for a long time so what have you been doing? Is it your chivalry to cut off the hands of those who yearn for salvation in order to live rather than those who suck the blood of angels for personal gain?”
Medium’s mockery was quite sharp.
“Just because you didn’t see it doesn’t mean I didn’t do anything Empress.”
“Likewise what we did was not so simple as to say that we were simply selling miracles. You wouldn’t say that it was easy to subdue countless enemies in this bitter cold and to gather feed clothe and train the people would you?”
“….”
“Why? Could you tell me more?”
In a verbal fight Sok is pushed.
Sokdo Medium seemed embarrassed by how well he spoke.
“I have tried my best to restore the discipline of the Knights Templar. I just couldn’t do it because I lacked the strength.”
“You use your own shortcomings as a shield while demanding perfection from others. You must know that our path has not been smooth. Do you now kill the people of Kaspar just to criticize them?”
“…hmm.”
Sok remained silent for a moment as if he had nothing to say to Medium’s words.
I think I’ve been beaten up so many times with words that I can’t come to my senses.
Sokdo also knew that he was being unreasonable.
As Medium says he was just sitting there when the Knights were in chaos but now he’s picking on Azadin. He knows that it’s all wrong to demand perfection from Azadin while saying that he’s powerless.
However after seeing the situation in the south he predicted that Azadin’s army would soon unite the entire continent and seize hegemony.
When the Nagas lost Bthuma and were driven back to their own city the Soks chose to rise up.

If you don’t punish me now for selling miracles to the Emperor and defiling the ideals of the Knights Templar you will never be able to punish me in the future.
So I raised an army… but it seems I wasn’t the only one who thought that way.
“There seems to be some misunderstanding. Those who are dead here were not killed by us but rather their corpses were collected.”
“You brought the bodies together?”
“Yes. I just sorted out the corpses brought in by the nomads and nomadic tribes. I subdued the already dead and some of the refusals not the innocent people.”
‘You mean they killed him? Kaspar’s men and soldiers couldn’t have stayed still when Lord Sok showed up. And they were definitely going to rebel against the Emperor and Empress at first. But for some reason they withdrew their rebellion. Is that what you’re saying?’
Ismail could tell from Sok’s reaction that he had suddenly changed his mind.
“So why are you here Sir Sok?”
“If the Emperor is victorious and the world is at peace soon who will blame the Emperor? I came because I thought now was the only time to hold him accountable for damaging the ideals of the Knights of Salvation. But things have changed.”
Sok pointed to the sky.
“The light of the King’s Flower has disappeared. It seems that I am not the only one who has been waiting for this moment.”
“yes?”
“Yaegasu’s protection has disappeared. Scott!”
“yes!”
One of the orc necromancers behind Lord Sok took out his staff and cast a spell.
The magic was cast on the people who were stuck on the cartwheels on the roadside.
“What are you doing!”
The Etar Bloodline archers the Empress’s bodyguards fired arrows at the wizard and Sok all at once.
However undead wyverns and wraiths appeared and dropped arrows from the air.
“Tsk tsk. Even though I said I didn’t mean to hurt you you still do that.”
At the same time a cold wind descended from the sky.
But the black aura of necromancy emanated from the corpses lined up on the roadside and they began to resist the pouring cold air.
Although the aura of the necromancy itself was dark and cold this degree of coldness was actually warm in the current situation.
Surprisingly this orc warlock used magic to protect humans from the cold instead of the light of the king’s fire.
“Ha. I’m a genius after all. Sigh. What kind of grave crime did I commit to become a lich and not be able to leave these genius genes to future generations?”
The orc warlock who had successfully cast the spell looked back with regret. His eyes were burning with blue irises.
“…Scott McGreen.”
“Yes. It’s been a while. Wow. Thank you for your hard work. Thinking about how you all must have struggled to fill the void left by a genius magician like me tears well up in my dry eyes.”
“What the heck is this….”
“In the south Lord Jecht rebelled. The Nagas were pushed back and it seemed like the end was near but it turns out that Lord Sok wasn’t the only one who thought of stealing the table that was set for him at the last minute.”
“….”
Sir Sok looked dumbfounded at Scott’s open criticism of him.
He is the master who made Scott into a lich and taught him various magic but Scott says whatever he wants without any regard for the ups and downs like a thunderbolt.
Sok himself had rebelled because of the ideological issues of the Knights Templar but he felt it was unfair to be treated like someone who tried to usurp the task of unifying the world like Jecht.
But that’s my position and from the medium’s point of view they are both the same in that they both rebelled when the unification of the world was imminent.
“You’re saying that Lord Jecht rebelled?”
“Yes. I don’t know what they did but they extinguished the light of the King’s Flower. It’s certain because the light of the King’s Flower is disappearing from the south.”
“….”
“So I will leave the act of selling miracles unpunished. Those who were swayed by miracles without properly training themselves will face trials again.”
Sir Sok saw that when the light of the King’s Flower faded the faith of the hastily assembled Knights Templar led by the miracle would be shaken again.
That’s something that even Medium can relate to to some extent….
“Are you saying we should pretend the rebellion never happened? Because it hasn’t even started yet.”
This is truly absurd.
How dare you ignore the fact that he is a traitor. It would be unpleasant to even suggest a deal so what kind of reciprocal attitude is this?
Of course Sok is not in a position to be loyal to Azadin.
Although externally Sok was Azadin’s vassal Azadin and Sok were not in a vassal relationship but rather in an alliance.
However when he tried to start a rebellion and got his leader taken away he changed his attitude like turning the palm of his hand and started acting like he was the spirit of the Knights Templar which really annoyed me.
He is arrogant and presumptuous fearing that someone might call him an orc.
Scott is a somewhat funny and cheerful person but if you take away all of Scott’s composure and humor he would become Sir Soak.
‘It’s annoying but there’s nothing I can do about it. I have to accept it.’
Medium was indignant at Sok’s arrogant attitude but he could not be hostile to Sok now.
however….
“It is a wise choice. Then Your Majesty would you like to become an undead to set an example for others?”
