Night of the Soulless Heathens – 482

#483. Miracle Paradox 3
“What is it Your Majesty?”
Jibek noticed something strange when he saw Azadin’s complexion.
“It seems like something happened in the south… Aranggi.”
“yes?”
“The knights are using divine magic on a large scale.”
When Azadin took over the kingdom of Banling there were few knights or priests in the king’s church.
At that time only the Salvation Knights were on Azadin’s side and the sacred magic used by the priests of the Salvation Knights did not pose much of a burden to Azadin.
In the Kingdom of Arangi the priests and knights of the king’s church still remained.
This was because although Azadin made the Kingdom of Arangi a vassal state he left its royal family and church organization intact without purging them.
But now they were using divine magic one after another.
Seeing so much divine magic being used so suddenly it was clear that something had happened on the Arangi Kingdom’s side.
And that wasn’t the only change that happened.
“Your Majesty. To the front…..”
“okay.”
Azadin had been observing the surroundings by floating an artificial spirit called Arael’s Voice in the sky and was able to capture a large army moving through the harsh snowstorm.
A large army bypassing the Changgok Pass was approaching Azadin’s group.
It might not seem like it would be easy for people to go outside in such strong winds but indeed they were all grotesquely shaped monsters wearing giant fur coats.
The King of Chitai Sebalhan and his army of corrupted Nether servants appear.
“Where should I look?”
Azadin used Arael’s voice to scout out the enemy lines.
That’s a huge number of troops.
These people numbering at least ten thousand advanced without any special supplies. When they needed supplies they seemed to have eaten each other as blood and bone fragments were strewn everywhere they went.
Although the snow had fallen and covered the debris the predation was so large-scale that even the current snowstorm could not completely cover the traces.
And among these Nether creatures spiders can be seen.
A grotesquely shaped spider has latched onto a human body rooted its parasitic cords in their nervous system and taken control of them before using its Nether sorcery to bring this army of three-legged creatures here.

“There’s a strange spider attached to a human body and it’s using nether magic.”
When Azadin spoke to his subjects the elves were startled and responded.
“It must be Atra’s parasitic spider! A high-ranking apostle! It’s the work of the great mother… no of the great mother Aguilera!”
The elves who escaped the torture by Azadin were struggling to prove their loyalty to him.
“Yeah. So it’s the Telbarin Guild’s doing? I thought so.”
“Your Majesty please give us a chance to clear our names!”
“We will take the lead and destroy the enemies at all costs!”
Elf warriors volunteer to lead the vanguard.
“No if you rush out to the front line now you’ll all freeze to death… Ah….”
Azadin stopped talking and closed his mouth by pressing his temple with his hand.
In Arangi Karasar Tarasar and other places throughout the world priests of the King’s Church use miracles in the name of Azadin.
Every time Azadin suffers.
‘How did Emperor Yaeslat handle this alone?’
When Azadin asked such a question the voice of Arael within him answered.
[He didn’t do it alone. He sacrificed countless of his own blood relatives. He suppressed his enemies and exploited their life force soul and flesh while protecting his own divinity. The Herald Clan doesn’t even think about criticizing the Emperor but objectively speaking he is the one who killed his own blood relatives for his own ambitions.]
On the other hand Azadin had not yet obtained the entire throne and he placed his ideology as a member of the Knights Templar school ahead of his title as a god king.
The contradiction that plagues Azadin is that he has become a new king who hopes that everyone will save themselves through wisdom.
Of course it is big even though it is a broken body that died and came back to life.
[Use Kazas’s spell to absorb the ever-growing Shinwangjinseo. It is too much magical power for your weakened body to handle.]
‘But then the divine power will be weakened. It won’t be able to protect the people.’
[Isn’t there no need for you to sacrifice yourself to protect the believers of the King’s Church? You only need to save those who follow the New Testament and the teachings of the Suyang School as you desire.]
Arael’s voice was that of an artificial spirit left behind by the already dead Arael but like Arael when she was alive it showed hot fury without any filter when talking about the King’s Church.
‘If you abandon people because they are stupid and lacking no one will be left. If there is anyone you should blame for your shortcomings and incompetence it is only you. You should not blame others for their incompetence.’
[You’re so stubborn. Huh?]
Arael’s voice suddenly cut off as she spoke.
The Nether’s followers discovered Arael’s voice passing through their midst and began to attack.
Azadin immediately stopped channeling Arael’s voice and instead cast the magic of the New King’s Book.
“I will change the direction of the wind! Everyone fall back behind the barrier!”
As Azadin shaped the light barrier making it narrow and sharp like the entrance to a canyon a cold wind flowed at high speed and poured into the Nether’s followers.
Although they were the Nether messengers who brought this cold their retinue was naturally weak to the cold as they were made of leather.
In an instant the pillars of ice and snow froze the Nether faction at the front.
“and….”
“oh my god.”
The soldiers following Azadin were also amazed at the sight. The sight of him using magic alone to pour out cold air on enemies that could number in the hundreds thousands or tens of thousands was no exaggeration to say that he was a god king from mythology.
Azadin is clearly showing the aspect of the new king that was only spoken of in myths in the King’s Church.
“Okay then let’s go!”
Azadin withdrew the wind after sufficiently freezing his enemies with cold.

In the cold wind the unfrozen Nether factions moved towards us but their numbers were quickly reduced to less than half.
Azadin’s men the Northern Aragatha and the Herald Clan fired arrows simultaneously killing anything that was still moving in the cold wind.
Ascendar elves riding reindeer instead of horses to pull sleds on the ice charged forward casting spells and dashing at their enemies who had been struck by blasts of cold air and arrows demonstrating excellent breakthrough power.
“Hmm. That’s a bit too much.”
Azadin grumbled as he watched the elves deliberately charging deep into enemy territory to compete for the ball.
Even after the Knights of Salvation joined Azadin’s army was always short on cavalry but the elven cavalry that joined this time charged without sparing their own lives.
“I guess he does that because he thinks it’s a chance to wash away his sins.”
Ismail spoke for the elves.
“If you’re a spy you can pretend to be loyal even in this situation and if you’re not a spy you should survive longer and accomplish more. I don’t understand why people take their lives so lightly.”
“That is not something your Majesty should say.”
Although it would have been rude to ask a king or emperor this question Azadin did not like such strict court etiquette.
And he fully understood why Ismail was scolding him.
“Not dead…..”
He tried to say that he was not going to die but the moment he said that blood started flowing out of Azadin’s body again.
It seems as if a half-timbered piece of wood had been placed under a stone pedestal weighing thousands of tons and it would collapse on its own unable to support the weight of the miracle.
Azadin who was surprised quickly activated Kazas’s spell and consumed the overflowing white magic.
And he casted healing magic to heal his own body.
Centered around Azadin the light of the royal flower spread high into the sky healing the wounded.
“uh?”
“Why now?”
Everyone was shocked to see Azadin using such a healing miracle even though it was only the beginning of the battle.
But the closest aides who knew the inside story kept their mouths shut.
Everyone understood that Azadin’s situation was so bad that he had to use holy magic in a fit of rage as if he was throwing a lit keg of gunpowder out the window when it caught fire.
‘That guy from the North did something useless.’
‘I should have killed him.’
‘I should have at least brought more troops. If it weren’t for Your Majesty’s miraculous power we would have faced an enemy twenty times our size in this snowy field.’
Azadin’s retainers and his escort numbered about fifty in total and the three hundred northern Aragathas who had joined them from Assander numbered one thousand eight hundred.
The Cheetah army was over twenty times larger than that but half of the troops were blown away in an instant thanks to the freezing wind that blasted them and froze them.
In a normal war even if the remaining troops of the other side are greater than this side if more than half of them are lost at once the force will collapse.
It would not be an exaggeration to call it a total annihilation but the Nether factions controlled by magic continue to attack without fear.
However Assander’s elves quickly broke through finding and slaughtering the spider sorcerers among the enemies thereby destroying their control centers.
Since it is an elf technique the elves know it well. Furthermore even if these elves leave the area protected by Azadin they can protect themselves from the cold by casting green magic spells so they are able to move their troops quite flexibly.
“Even if you take away the fact that they push themselves too hard to gain credit they’re still useful. As expected they’ve all lived long enough to have great martial arts skills.”
That’s how Zibek described the elf knights.
“But there’s definitely a spy inside.”
Ismail distrusted the elves. Even the Northern Qi Cohen was struck in the back of the head by the elves.
Even if the elves who have stood above humans and looked down on them since the days of the Naga Empire are now struggling to prove their loyalty there must still be spies among them who have joined hands with the corrupted elves.
“I know. I took that into account and accepted it. Oh shit. My nose won’t stop bleeding…”
Azadin frowned as he blocked his nosebleed with a towel. He tried not to show weakness in front of his subjects but his body was falling apart uncontrollably.
Then suddenly the ice beneath the ground cracked and a giant hand emerged from beneath Azadin’s feet.
The Nether Servants on the surface are actually bait having moved through the frozen riverbed.
Azadin’s sled was launched into the sky and Azadin’s body was lifted high along with it.
“your majesty!”
The subjects were astonished.
You came in aiming so precisely at Azadin’s location. It’s too accurate to be a coincidence.
Could it be that there was a spy?
However Azadin motioned to his subordinates to calm down even with his nose blocked with a towel.
However since it was flying high in the sky the only people who could see it were Ismail who was originally from the messenger clan with good eyesight and the northern Aragasa of Zion Etar.
“Ah! Your Majesty!”
“What the heck is this monster?!”
