Night of the Soulless Heathens – 463

#464. The Evil God’s Messenger 5
The number of Nether’s followers who came out of Chongqing was enormous as it included not only the soldiers who were staying in Chongqing but also civilians.
Even young children who have not yet experienced secondary sexual characteristics attack as terrible monsters.
They were blocking it with the walls but in the meantime King Sebalhan of Chitai cast a new spell.
-Wood thud!
The corpses and bones scattered on the floor move and transform through Sebalhan’s magic.
A giant staircase made of human and monster corpses is created and hung on the walls of Baekho Hall.
Arrows and guns blessed by the King of Azadin fly in and hit the slope igniting it.
The flames of purification arise as the blessing of the Holy King cleanses the unclean creatures.
But regardless of whether they are alive or dead they run up the steep road and try to climb up the wall.
“Stop it!”
“Ahhhhhh!”
The soldiers of Baekho-gwan and Azadin’s army became one and fought against the Nether’s forces that were rushing in.
The battle which was truly the center of hell continued until the sun went down.
The exchange rate is overwhelming.
The weapons of the soldiers blessed by the King would emit purifying flames whenever they hit the enemy ensuring their destruction.
A single insignificant soldier fought bravely burning dozens of enemies with arrows and swords.
Taking down ten or twenty guys by yourself wasn’t even something to brag about.
But the difference in force was enormous.
and….
“Hmm.”
Azadin wiped his hand under his nose. Blood seeped out onto his glove.
“Are you okay Your Majesty?!”
Jibek asked Azadin. Currently this front was relying solely on the blessing of the King of Azadin.
Without the blessing of the King of Azadin the White Tiger Mansion would never have survived.
On the other hand the enemies keep swarming without getting tired but the humans are already exhausted and are holding on with only their energy.

While regular soldiers were able to take turns and get some rest no one could replace Azadin.
Azadin has not had a moment of rest since the battle began.
“It’s too hard to open the Book of the New Kings here without being able to obtain the throne of Chitai. I want to open the way to Sebalhan somehow but it’s not easy.”
When Azadin launches an offensive to kill Sebalhan Sebalhan summons monsters to form a thick wall.
On the other hand when Azadin protruded Sebalhan persistently targeted Azadin so Azadin could not act alone.
As the war of attrition between the armies grew the tireless Nether clans gained the upper hand.
In addition Azadin was not in good health to begin with. He was constantly maintaining powerful magic like the King’s Blessing so his stamina consumption was enormous.
“Shouldn’t we start withdrawing our troops soon?”
“however….”
Azadin knew that if he backed down from here he would suffer great losses.
The hardest part of a battle is actually withdrawing troops.
Jibek and the Inquisitors stepped forward.
“We will secure an escape route.”
Those who guard the retreat route and hold their ground until the end are no different from protecting their comrades with their own deaths.
When Jibek offered himself for that position Azadin shook his head.
“What the… nonsense. Lord Jibek. I need you. I can’t sacrifice a talent like you here!”
“Thank you for your kind words. But wouldn’t that be the least we can do to seal the back door?”
“….”
“In that case it would be better for us to….”
This time the Celestial Fires came forward.
“If you die here who will take charge of the cavalry of the army?”
As the commanders of the Azadin Army stood ready to sacrifice themselves the gatekeeper of the White Tiger Gate who had been listening stepped forward.
“I hear you are making fun of us Your Majesty Azaddin. Why don’t you tell us to block the back door?”
Until this very morning Azadin had been his sworn enemy.
A thoroughgoing enemy who can fight with his soul on fire without even exchanging a single word.
However even in such a situation Azadin willingly came in for the soldiers of Baekho-gwan and was even willing to sacrifice his own confidants to buy time for the soldiers of Baekho-gwan to escape.
No in this case the confidant volunteered to sacrifice himself…
It would be better to tell the Baekho-gwan people that this place was originally under their jurisdiction so they should embrace it and die but no one including Azadin recommends that they make a sacrifice.
It was as if the elderly and women were being rescued first from a sinking ship.
As a warrior of Chitai he could not bear to see such a sight so the gatekeeper offered himself as the sacrificial lamb.
But Azadin shook his head coldly.
“You have to survive. Then you will have credibility when you testify about the fall of King Cheetah.”
“that….”
The gatekeeper of the White Tiger Hall was speechless at Azadin’s words.
He knew very well that Azadin’s reputation was the worst. Even if the sun rose in the east no one would listen kindly so if Azadin and his confidants testified about the corruption of the three-legged king no one would even pretend to listen.
But are you saying that you’re trying to save the people of Baekho-gwan and help them escape just for that reason?
“Keep on. Anyway Your Majesty really…..”

Then unexpected people came forward.
“Then let us do it. If we block their escape route won’t we be able to atone for our sins even if only a little?”
This time the nomadic soldiers of Chitai volunteered.
The nomadic soldiers of Chitai and the responsible leaders of each tribe who had been serving in the Baekui Army for plundering kidnapping and murdering helpless people stepped forward to defend the White Tiger Pass.
“We are prisoners anyway so if Your Majesty wants us to rush in to atone for our sins we will gladly do so. There is no need to waste talented people like Celestial Fire and Lord Jibek.”
“Then you will surely die. Are you volunteering knowing that?”
Azadin felt sorry for those who volunteered for the mission.
But they were sincere.
“Actually when they plundered and raped the people I didn’t think they were doing anything particularly bad. The settled peoples did bad things to us too. And in war these kinds of things are commonplace so I thought is it a big deal?”
“….”
“And even now I think that what has passed cannot be changed. However seeing Your Majesty so angry I think I vaguely know that this is wrong.”
“Your Majesty risked his life to save the people of Baekho-gwan who were enemies until just a moment ago. If you value the lives of your enemies how much more so must you value your own people? I honestly admire the fact that such a person does not hate us even when we are sent to Baekui.”
“It was only after seeing Your Majesty that I understood why other kings in the past were unable to properly use the New King’s Book.”
“….”
When Azadin personally climbed up the wall to rescue the soldiers of the enemy White Tiger Pass the nomadic soldiers from Chitai were deeply moved.
“Our king values the lives of those who were his enemies until recently. And yet you have harmed his people…”
“You are not a hypocrite.”
So they chose to stay behind to protect Azadin.
“Of course we are not willing to sacrifice ourselves for nothing Your Majesty. Half of us will stay here to atone for our sins so please make the other half your true subordinates not just your servants.”
“Yes. Please allow our descendants to proudly stand tall within the order Your Majesty is creating.”
“Okay then do that.”
Azadin allowed the Chitai nomadic soldiers to guard the retreat route.
At the same time blood gushed out. As Azadin staggered and fell Jibek supported him.
“This can’t be happening!”
My body is as cold as ice.
But Azadin remained unconscious.
If he loses consciousness the king’s blessing will disappear and the devotion of the nomad troops who set out to guard the retreat will become useless.
“Let us go with His Majesty!”
Zibek the Inquisitors and the Celestials helped Azadin out of the White Tiger Hall.
*********
“no!?”
Sebalhan was confused when he saw the enemy’s momentum change.
The enemy had been holding out very well so far replacing soldiers whenever the health of the defenders on the wall decreased.
However all of those deployed this time are Chitai nomads.
The rest of the troops went down to the east wall of Baekho-gwan and prepared to escape.
“You kids! Are you planning on running away?! Don’t make me laugh!”
Sebalhan was indignant.
He felt a maddening rage as he watched Azadin fight on equal terms with his army using the power of the New King’s Book.
Why does this guy perform such miracles?
When he tried to study and use the Book of the New King he could only use a few magic spells using his own blood as a medium and was unable to create large-scale miracles.
Why did the spirits of Yaegas choose Azadin and not his descendant?
If the gods had chosen him and if he had been able to use these miraculous powers he would have solidified his position as a divine king and gone further.
As of now I could live proudly as a member of the Yaegas Shin-Kings without being corrupted by the witchcraft of the Nether.
‘I was corrupted because that guy put me in that situation!’
In order not to be pushed by Azadin he pursued power and turned to Nether’s sorcery.
This grimoire containing the magic of the Nether was not just a simple grimoire but contained a part of the reaper trapped in the Netherstrom.
It instantly burned and captured Sebalhan’s ego.
Sebalhan became a slave to the book of magic and was resentful of the Northern Emperor who had handed over the book to him and of Azadin who had put him in this situation.
And now you’re withdrawing?
And leaving the Cheetahs as cannon fodder?
“Don’t make me laugh! Hit me! Keep hitting me!”
Sebalhan himself came forward and cast a spell to create a siege tower of death and placed it on the wall. The battlement collapsed under the weight.
However the Chitai nomad soldiers counterattacked by storming the walls with bows and curved swords and the weapons with the king’s blessing were still showing off their ferocity as they burned Nether’s followers.
“You fools! Do you bare your teeth to me the King of Chitai for the sake of a foreign king?! Surrender! You are Chitai!”
“What did you say?”
“Haha. Our Chitai Kingdom is a country ruled by the descendants of the great Yaegasu gods! How dare a zombie-like member of the Nether claim to be the king of Chitai?!”
The chieftain of the nomadic tribe mocked Sebalhan.
“That messenger guy threw you as arrow shields and escaped! Are you going to challenge me the king for the sake of someone like that?”
Sebalhan shouted in anger.
“I became like this to protect my country from that bastard! You should know shame for insulting the people and clinging to the villains!”
“I am here because I know the shame Your Majesty.”
The chieftain of the nomadic tribe said with a bitter smile.
“I am here to wash away the shame.”
“You guys!”
Sebalhan’s army surged into Baekho-gwan like a tidal wave.
