“Huh? What is that?”
The Chitai army guarding the Baekho-guan fortress wall looked west in the direction of Chongqing which they were supposed to guard and panicked.
King Chitai’s direct troops were in the lead charging forward while countless people were approaching them all at once.
But the strong bloody smell carried by the wind stings your nose. Even from this far away the smell alone is enough to make you feel nauseous.
The weather has gotten colder recently so even if you excrete urine or feces it freezes right away and doesn’t smell so it’s not ordinary that it smells this bad.
“Oh no!”
The sharp-eyed spotter even used his telescope to observe and report on the situation.
“Hey undead! It’s undead!”
Not only the direct troops of Chongqing but also the residents of Chongqing and even the livestock were all transformed into bizarre monsters.
However since they were all wearing armor and moving in an orderly manner only some of their body parts were exposed so to the onlookers they looked like undead.
“What?!”
“This is a big deal!”
The soldiers of Baekho-gwan were terrified. In front of them were Azadin’s troops and behind them were the troops of Chung-gyeong who had suddenly become undead so everyone felt dizzy.
“uh?”
But something unexpected happened.
“The enemy is retreating.”
“what?”
“I heard you were holding a pear?”
As he said Azadin’s army retreated with a white flag.
“Hmm. It’s annoying but you’re so good at it.”
“yes?”
“They’re saying they’ll let us go and deal with those guys.”
“Ugh. These kids!”
“I found it under the castle walls!”
“They must be using some sort of reconnaissance magic. For now return fire! It doesn’t look like they’ll attack us now. Let’s deal with the monsters coming from Chongqing right away!”

The gatekeeper of Baekho-gwan ordered the cannons that were facing east to turn to the west.
The soldiers immediately turned their guns with all their might turned them from the Azadin army towards Chongqing and prepared to engage the approaching men.
After a while a hippogriff landed in front of them.
Sebalhan the king of the Chitai rode upon a grotesquely deformed hippogriff that breathed fire from its mouth and had feathers and scales all over its body.
As Sebalhan opened his mouth a terrible stench came out of him.
“You dare turn your firearms on me. You harbor treasonous intentions.”
“No Your Majesty. How dare we?”
“Then open the gate of Baekho-gwan immediately and let you join our army.”
Sebalhan gave the order as the king of Chitai.
If you refuse it’s considered treason but if you follow Sebalhan’s current state is not good.
“Your Majesty have you by any chance dabbled in witchcraft?”
The gatekeeper of the White Tiger Pass was also a member of the royal family of Chitai. He also knew well what it meant for Garasan to be appointed to Azadin.
The scholars of the traditional Cheongryu school recognized Azadin.
Stubborn people are indignant that a member of the Herald Clan dares to claim the throne but if you look closely no one of the people of the time has proven his worth as much as Azadin.
With many governors leaving Sebalhan and Chitai being trampled to pieces it is not hard to understand Sebalhan’s desire to turn the tide of the battle by dabbling in forbidden magic.
But if they resort to witchcraft when they are cornered where will the pride of the Yaegasu clan go?
“Do you dare to insult me?”
“A sudden eclipse is coming and a strange change is happening in the world. At this time I think it would be right to withdraw the military and gather the will of the people for a while. The enemy is also retreating at the same time so how about we wait and see for now?”
The gatekeeper of Baekho-gwan frowned at the unbearable stench emanating from Sebalhan but spoke as politely as possible.
‘You’re in a bad mood right now so calm down for a moment. Are you even human?’
I was trying to say this in the most nonchalant way possible without offending Sebalhan.
However Sebalhan was angry at the very attitude of the gatekeeper who was hesitating.
“Shut up. You must return your military title immediately. You will be dismissed!”
Sebalhan declared his dismissal.
The soldiers looked at the gatekeeper in surprise.
The king has dismissed me from office so should I obey his orders?
“That is no longer our king. Shoot!”
The Baekho Gate Guardian ordered his soldiers to fire their cannons.
But the soldiers who were supposed to fire the cannons hesitated.
In any case the opponent is their king. It is inevitable that there will be psychological resistance to firing at the king.
however….
‘Shaaaaah!’
The soldiers behind Sebalhan rushed forward.
It’s not a human race.
It runs grotesquely kicking the ground with all fours like an animal and its limb muscles and joint bones stretch and run with hideous momentum.
They ran across the ground like spiders rather than people and in an instant they clung to the Baekho Hall wall.
Amazingly they climb up the steep walls as if they were flat ground like spiders climbing up walls.

“Eek?!”
“What is that?!”
“Shoot!”
The surprised soldiers’ guns opened fire.
As the bizarrely mutated people crossed the gate the Baekho Hall soldiers began shooting with all their might.
The power of the gunpowder weapon was so great that it tore apart the grotesquely mutated humans but the torn human bodies fell to the ground and wriggled.
The severed section is filled in and the torn upper body and lower body climb up the wall again.
“That’s ridiculous!”
“Oh it’s the devil!”
The soldiers saw their enemies rise again after being killed and they instinctively knew that they would die here today.
Then Sebalhan flew up riding on a hippogriff.
Sebalhan and his closest bodyguards flew up on their hippogriffs and flew into the sky above the White Tiger Hall emitting a terrible stench.
The surprised musketeers tried to raise their muskets into the air to fire anti-aircraft fire but many of their muskets were of the old-fashioned type with a powder pan ignition system. If they raised the gun too high the gunpowder would spill out of the powder pan and the gun would not fire properly.
“Huh!?”
“Oh my goodness!”
Although they could fire at a certain angle the gunpowder would spill over and cause a misfire when they got too high above their heads.
“You guys! How dare you commit treason?! You too want to become like the citizens of Chongqing!”
As Sebalhan grew angry a terrifying ink-colored aura gathered around him from the sky.
A terrible stench assails everyone’s nose.
As the Baekho-gwan soldiers were at a loss another hippogriff suddenly flew in and struck the Sebalhan hippogriff in the sky before passing by.
“Huh!?”
Azadin’s hippogriff Firewinter attacked Sebalhan’s hippogriff.
“uh?!”
“What is that?!”
“Here are reinforcements!”
The soldiers of Baekho-gwan cheered as they saw the hippogriff suddenly appear and fight against Sebalhan and his men.
But the officers looked confused for they knew that it was Azadin’s hippogriff.
The enemies they had been confronting with the resolve to die just a moment ago flew in to save them.
Azadin took up his ashwood longbow in place of the broken moonbow atop the hippogryph and fired an arrow.
Even though he was shooting from the hippogriff flying in the sky with only his foot on the saddle the arrow was so accurate that it hit the gap in the armor of the other hippogriffs in Sebalhan’s entourage.
Taking advantage of the gap between the three hippogriffs falling Azadin lowered Firewinter down and landed on the walls of the White Tiger Hall.
“Ugh?!”
“Ah King Azadin?!”
“There is no time to explain. Let’s call a ceasefire and fight together!”
Azadin said so and cast the King’s Blessing spell from the Book of the New King for everyone.
A pure white light spread out from Azadin driving away the cold and empowering the soldiers’ weapons.
“Now take up your weapons! I will fight with you!”
Then no matter how many times it was hit or how many times its body was cut in half the nether monster that would regenerate its torn body and attack me now started burning as soon as it was attacked.
“uh?!”
“What is this?!”
“Oh my God! It’s the power of the king!”
“oh my god.”
“Isn’t this the New King’s Book?!”
The soldiers of Baekho-gwan were confused.
Their king has been corrupted by terrible sorcery yet the enemy general is using the power of the rightful new king to support them.
Just a few hours ago those who had been taunting Azadin with all sorts of vulgar remarks and burning hostility toward him were now shouting “Hurrah!” without hesitation.
“Long live King Azadin!”
“You crazy bastard. What the hell are you doing!”
“Viva!”
“The true King is with us!”
The soldiers’ cheers spread like wildfire in an instant.
There is no need to ask now who is the true king.
-Bang!
Then the powder keg exploded.
Originally Baekho-gwan prepared gunpowder kegs under the city walls to block the Azadin army from invading Chongqing.
In order to sustain firepower when fighting the Azadin army expensive gunpowder was stored on the western side under the castle walls.
But the enemy had invaded from the direction of Chongqing… Now they joined hands with Azadin to lead the rushing enemy soldiers down the wall and detonate the gunpowder barrels they had stored there.
Thanks to that he was able to catch his breath for a moment. Azadin shot arrows as he crossed the wall and approached the White Tiger Gate Guardian.
“Hey! I’m going to send reinforcements can I hang up the ladder!?”
“Of course Your Majesty.”
The gatekeeper bowed his head and pounded his fist against his chest.
“Thank you.”
The Azadin army which had retreated began to place siege ladders on the walls of Baekho-gwan and bring up supplies.
Originally gunpowder and arrows were used to attack Baekho-gwan but now they are used together with Baekho-gwan’s soldiers to block the enemy.
*********
With the addition of Azadin’s army the soldiers of Baekho-gwan were able to catch their breath for a moment.
Ladders originally built for siege purposes were incorporated into the eastern side of the wall to provide a passageway for carrying supplies and removing the wounded and exhausted to the rear.
But despite these efforts it was not enough to turn the tide and corpses piled up in front of Baekho Hall.
Before I knew it the sun was setting.
Even though it was a year tainted with black sorcery the sun was still the sun. As the sun began to set cold and darkness fell over the world.
The area around Baekho Hall was filled with burning corpses and the horrible smell of corpses that even the bitter cold could not suppress.
“Is this hell?!”
I had the exhausted soldiers fight in rotation but even so their stamina quickly declined.
Still the attacks from those Nether factions are still fierce.
