Night of the Soulless Heathens – 458

#459. Bamboo Growing Trend 3
Azadin having obtained the Chitai light cavalry led them forward to attack Chitai.
Although they were nomadic people they also knew the internal roads and circumstances of the Chitai people well so they became excellent guides.
Moreover the cities in the interior of Chitai were reluctant to fight the Chitai light cavalry which were their own kind anyway so the speed of the conquest did not slow down at all even though the Celestial Fire and Lord Jibek’s Inquisitor units which had been on a forced march were reorganized and rested.
With the help of their three-inch tongue they have acquired cities and troops and with their guidance they are trampling over the Chitai territory without slowing down their invasion speed.
“I must call for reinforcements from the Northern Qi.”
King Sebalhan of Chitai now realizes that he cannot stop Azadin on his own. Even the capital is no longer safe.
Clearly at first he thought he was in an advantageous position but before he knew it the enemy forces had won over most of his main force and were tightening their grip on Chitai’s heart.
If the Northern Qi reinforcements do not arrive in time there seems to be no way for them to survive.
“Does this make sense?! Does this make sense?!”
“If you think about it we’ve never fought a proper war.”
The king’s vassals said such things.
After the death of Emperor Yaeslat there were large and small disputes between the nobles and the royal family but most of them were fights that ended with arbitration.
Isn’t this where the difference between Azadin who went through life-or-death struggles to get to where he is now and Sebalhan who was born into royalty and has always fought only in advantageous situations is revealed?
Even Sebalhan’s vassals secretly acknowledged that Azadin was a superior military leader.
“Okay so shut up and call for reinforcements! It won’t be long before the enemies storm Chongqing!”

The North Jewel Cohen Lioness was in a very good mood for the first time in a while.
Cheetah has been on a winning streak advancing into Naisandhokar and even Sandhokar and the plan to throw the refugees they have painstakingly collected into Azadin’s territory has now moved beyond the conceptual stage and entered the execution stage.
Of course the task of throwing refugees onto the territory is frankly not satisfactory.
As is the case with all operations the idea is easy but execution is difficult.
In order to hand over the refugees to Azadin and make them a burden they had to somehow keep the refugees breathing until they could get over and that alone would cost a huge amount of money.
The northern kings have already completely abandoned the refugees so it is no easy task to leave them to Azadin to feed clothe and care for them again.
Now the plan to feed clothe and keep the refugees alive and then transport them on a large scale was ultimately something that only those who had been caring for and managing the refugees could do.
And in any case this is a large-scale transport operation.
It is a rugged route that would take 80 days to cross the border on foot. The plan to shorten the rugged distance to two weeks by sea is difficult even without any obstacles.

Would it work properly if you were to bring along people who have the idea of Tarasar Karasar not a single nation?
‘You made it possible. Hmm. That thunderous messenger clan guy dared to interfere and disrupt my plans but now everything will fall into place. I don’t like how arrogant the Cheetahs are but I wish I had moved Cheetah earlier.’
He picked up the goblet and clutched it. The pewter-decorated goblet made of buffalo horn dented and his handprint left behind.
He crushed the glass with such force that it seemed as if he were holding Azadin’s heart in his palm.
‘In the end things ended up like this because of that damn messenger clan.’
Through backroom dealings with the Nagas and delving deep into Nether magic the corruption of the Nether seeped into his body.
‘But after defeating Azadin I can take my time and purify myself. I will unite this continent unite the Knights Templar and the King’s Church and elevate myself as a wise god becoming a god who will be remembered in history for a long time.’
The North Jeolla Cohen Lioness was satisfied.
But then a priest walked in.
“Your Majesty I have a message from King Sebalhan of Chitai.”
“Hmm. What the heck? Did you go in too deep and end up getting hit? I thought you told me to guard the Sandokarl Line.”
“No that’s the request for reinforcements.”
“Request for reinforcements? What do you mean?”
Although Chitai is a country next to Ascendar it is connected on the map but in reality it is thousands of miles away.
You’re asking for reinforcements now? If you send them now when will they arrive?
But the priest’s expression is not normal.
“Because of King Azadin’s attack Chitai is now in jeopardy.”
“Hmm.”
The Northern Emperor clicked his tongue when he heard that.
“Wasn’t it the last report that Chitai ate Naisandhokar and then attacked Sandhokar?”
“yes.”
“And how long has it been since you sent reinforcements? Even if you recover it it will only be as big as Naisandokhar.”
“No. The Azadin Army is currently said to have crossed the Chitai Plains and crossed the Black Mountain River.”
The Heuksan River is a river that divides the border between the nomadic and settled people of Chitai.
It is a river that we are familiar with because its main stream also runs through Assanda but it is an unimaginable speed of progress to have crossed it.
“They say they are charging forward splitting the Chitai army apart like a bamboo shoot.”
“Ugh.”
North Je Cohen Lione couldn’t believe his ears.
“It seems like King Chitai was arrogant and controlling until just a short while ago but now he’s become a light in the wind?”
As King Sebalhan of Chitai continued to win victories against the Azadin army and accumulated military achievements he became arrogant and began to challenge the authority of the Northern Qi.
It was just the day before yesterday or rather not long ago and now the conversation has changed and he is begging for his life.
It was certainly a nice sight to see a haughty man begging for salvation when the situation changed but he couldn’t be overly happy if it was the work of an enemy who was a threat to him.
No rather it seemed as if the Northern Emperor Cohen Lioness was going crazy with anger.
It’s a much better situation for Sebalhan to be so proud than for Azadin to be so aggressive and split Cheetah apart.
“What the hell is that guy!?”
The person Cohen was angry with was not Sebalhan.
He was resentful of Azadin.

Cohen Lionaire had no doubt that he was the Chosen One until the existence of Azadin came to light.
Although he was hated by his father and became a monk to join the Knights Templar he stood out in the Knights Templar for his martial arts and magic skills that were superior to those of anyone else.
The fact that the academic magical and martial arts skills that were so easy for him were achievements that others would have a hard time achieving even if they spent their entire lives honing them made him believe without a doubt that this was proof that he was the chosen one.
And the occasional vision of destruction.
The hand of the gods of the Nether is felt in the approaching Age of Jupiter.
Cohen who possessed strong magical powers and magical sensitivity realized that whenever he looked at the night sky beyond the black sky embroidered with starlight other dimensional beings were looking at this place and he knew that the age of Jupiter would come when the very thin protective barrier that separated this world from them would disappear.
Nevertheless Cohen was glad of it and saw it as an opportunity for him to become a great hero.
‘I will overcome the crisis of destruction unite this continent of Hybris and become the one who will lead the world to a higher level.’
‘I will achieve a unity of faith that even Emperor Yaeslat could not achieve and I will go beyond Netherstrom to the outer continent and become a wise god who will be remembered in history.’
It was a thorough self-affirmation and ambition.
So in order to receive the prophecy of the Knights Templar that was given to his master Sir Planck he assassinated him planted his spies in the Knights Templar and each kingdom and conquered Northern Aragasa and lived without regard to the means to accomplish his great cause.
He had worked so hard his whole life but now some random asshole came out of nowhere and took away the glory he had planned.
Even the Northern Qi began to negotiate behind the scenes with the Naga Empire in order to counter him and even linked hands with cultists that they would normally ignore.
He himself dabbled in Nether magic and felt the power of corruption eating away at his soul with every passing moment.
‘It’s because of him. If it weren’t for him I could have become a great saint king or rather a wise god who saves humanity.’
The Northern Qing Dynasty unfamiliar with inferiority complex abandoned and changed many things in order to overcome it.
However Azadin survived until the end and now threatens Chitai. When asked how they were able to defeat Chitai so quickly with such a small number of people Chitai’s envoy reluctantly explains the situation and the content is astonishing.
“You’re recruiting that enemy and making him join your army?”
“Yes. It is said that the Chitai light cavalry was originally punished for the crime of massacre on the battlefield but they are repaying their sin by standing at the forefront and fighting hard. They know the way well and are all Chitai so the march is said to be very easy and smooth.”
“That’s ridiculous. Are you saying that you’re a subject of the king?”
Cohen Lionaire also prided himself on not falling behind in military strategy.
However if you told him to recruit Chitai’s soldiers and have them charge at their current lord he would have shook his head.
“The problem is that if we want to send reinforcements to save Chitai we need ships. Ships are currently being prepared to send refugees to Aranggi and Banreung.”
The Northern Qi was trying to destroy Azadin’s cause by gathering refugees from various countries.
Even those who detest Azadin feel a sense of moral obligation to him for taking in refugees as Azadin’s cause is to feed and support them.
So the idea of sending refugees to Azadin and sinking him at that cost is diabolical.
However if we want to send reinforcements to Chitai we have to stop that plan.
The Northern Qi now had to choose.
Should we use our transport power to dump refugees or should we use our transport power to urgently send reinforcements to Chitai?
It’s a situation where there is no choice.
“Let’s abandon the refugee transport plan and turn the ship around to send reinforcements to Chitai.”
“But it will take three weeks just to return the fleet we sent to Tarasar. And do you think the Tarasar guys will return the ships they borrowed so easily?”
“I’m telling you to turn back the ships that have already been sent as well as the ships that are currently being built. Let’s immediately stop the ships that were originally sent to Tarasar and Karasar and use them to reinforce the Chitai army. Estimate the supplies manpower and costs required for the operation.”
As soon as Cohen’s order was given the excellent officials and staff of the Northern Qi Cohen immediately got to work and first calculated the approximate cost and manpower.
The ridiculously high cost made Bukje Cohen frown.
Just having to hastily return the transport force that had been sent to Tarasar was incredibly tiring and some of the escort ships that had been sent there were even captured by Azadin’s southern sea route fleet.
‘Looking at the figures the act of throwing refugees has not had much effect. Rather it has helped me get cursed at by the educated class. And it has cost me a lot of money.’
‘But my instincts tell me that this is the most painful attack on Azadin.’
‘But if we focus on this and lose Cheetah that would be absurd.’
‘It would be a disaster if the throne of Chitai were taken away by Azadin.’
Even though the Northern Emperor was confident that he had accurately identified Azadin’s weakness he had no choice but to stop his attacks by throwing refugees at him.
If we don’t first reconcile the Cheetahs who are being torn apart like a bamboo shoot we won’t be able to prevent Azadin’s bridgehead from being created in the north.
