Night of the Soulless Heathens – 450

“I never thought I would meet you Bishop in such a foreign land. Why did you come all this way here?”
“….”
Bohemond is the King of Carassar.
As the father of Karasaim the former king of Karasar he had a high status and often flaunted it whether secretly or openly.
But how dare you ask for an answer in front of such lowly beings.
Bohemond expressed his displeasure at Zect’s remarks.
He was getting irritated because he was not being supported by anyone who should have been looking up to him like the sky.
However Jecht was also a member of royalty and Astarte who was with Jecht was a former king.
There was no reason to bend to Bohemond.
“Please come inside first. I apologize for bringing you to such a shabby place.”
Surprisingly Astadar who couldn’t stand to watch stepped in and sorted out the situation.
Only after Bishop Bohemond had brought him into the cabin as he had wished did he open his mouth to speak.
“Sir Astarte and Sir Jecht were like the pillars of our church. So why did you turn your back on the church and join this group of Sagal? It is because of your sorrow that I have come to see you in person.”
‘I’m so happy that Sir Astarte is bending over backwards even though he’s always been a jerk.’
Zect was dumbfounded but Bohemond continued speaking.
“That wicked soulless blasphemer dared to kill the rightful Yaegas god-king Karasaim and the kingdom of Karasar was thrown into mourning. Originally I had intended to return to secular life and save the country from chaos but…”
“….”
Everyone was speechless at Bohemond’s shameless nonsense.
When Bohemond was king he massacred the inhabitants of Carasar and claiming that he did not have enough property for entertainment started excessive civil engineering work to reclaim land under the direct control of the king which resulted in tens of thousands of flood victims.
The author Bohemond tried to overcome this by attacking the neighboring country of Tarasar but was beaten like a dog and suffered repeated defeats and was eventually banished to the king’s church due to the rebellion of his own children.
‘Even if the royal family is annihilated there’s no way you’ll return to secular life and become king. What nonsense is the shame of King Yaegasu talking about now?’
But he closed his eyes and trembled as if savoring the trembling of the words he had just spoken.
There is an excessive sense of self-consciousness as if he could become king again at any time but is holding back for the sake of a greater cause.
“I would like to hear the reason why such excellent followers as you are helping under the evil heretic.”
“Ah yes. Now that the royal lineage of Korasar and Bthuma has been cut off I promised to give you the throne if you restore these two countries.”

Zect spoke immediately.
It was originally not something I should have said lightly but because I hated Bohemond I wanted to minimize the time I spent talking to him.
So I had made it clear in advance that if you don’t come up with a proposal of this level don’t even dream of negotiating.
“Hah! How dare this blasphemous man trade the throne of the great Yaegas for something like that! What a soulless piece of trash!”
Archbishop Bohemond was indignant when he heard that Azadin planned to establish two kings in two kingdoms.
“The royal lineage of Korasar and Btuma has been broken off and the people there are suffering. But isn’t it only King Azadin who has actually taken meaningful action to restore those two countries? If you don’t care when your people are being turned into refugees and people are eating each other and now you say that King Azadin has no soul what value do the souls of others who are less than him have?”
Astarte was furious when Bohemond insulted Azadin.
Bohemond also knew that Astarte was a man who could do anything when drunk so he quickly changed his attitude when Astarte became angry.
“That is precisely why we need your cooperation. We are currently seeking ships from Karasar and Tarasar to subdue the pirates and restore the royal lineage of both countries…”
Originally Bohemond had planned to become king himself and persuade Jecht and Astarte to become counts.
However given Astarte’s stubborn attitude and Jecht’s attitude of opening his hand the moment they met they are not people who can be persuaded to the extent of a count.
“So you came here to persuade us? Just to get us to leave this dangerous southern sea route which is teeming with troublemakers?”
“That’s not all.”
Bohemond smiled sinisterly.
*********
Since then Bohemond has tried to persuade Jecht and Astarte with various conditions but none of his proposals were worth listening to.
If you betray Azadin and hand over the Southern Sea Route I will give you the title of count.
This is nonsense since Azadin has already been promised the throne….
The church’s suggestion to give ridiculous titles like “King of Kings” only seems like a mean symbol of trying to manipulate people without spending a single penny.
When negotiations eventually broke down Bohemond returned to his ship in disappointment.
But that point aroused Zect’s suspicion.
“What do you think Lord Astarte?”
“Hmm. He’s still disgusting. I’m craving a drink. I tried to hold back but it’s hard to stay sober.”
Astarte an alcoholic seems to be using this as an excuse to drink again.
“Bohemond is originally a heavy-assed man with no good moves. He is just a perverted old man who likes to play with young pretty boys and live a luxurious life in a mansion. The fact that he came here is suspicious in itself. Perhaps he is trying to kill us on his way back after negotiating with us and take responsibility? Or….”
Zect frowned as he watched Bohemond’s ship return.
“I joined hands with the Naga Empire.”
It is suspicious that a person of the rank of archbishop would personally cross this rugged southern sea route given that there were not that many escort ships.
Unlike the fish-people who are the faithful servants of the Nether the Nagas who are part of the Kurt Pantheon are open to negotiation. Could it be that they have come to negotiate with the Nagas and do something?
That prediction came true.
As soon as Bohemond’s ship disappeared into the fog junks in much poorer condition appeared.
These boats were crammed with refugees on the verge of starvation struggling to cross the foggy sea.
“…….”
The kingdoms of Tarasar and Karasar loaded all the refugees who had flocked to their territories as well as their own people whom they had abandoned onto coastal ships that could be torn apart by the waves at any time and sent them to the kingdom of Azadin through the southern sea route teeming with nagas.

The new covenant that King Azadin advocates claims that the king’s holy power comes not from bloodline but from protecting and defending his people.
And to uphold that claim he fed clothed and gave jobs to people who were considered no better than livestock in other kingdoms and incorporated them into his system.

Other kings regarded Azadin’s actions as a display of reckless foolishness.
When Fimbulbert came it was clear that if they did something like that not only the lives of the common people but also the lives of the valuable beings such as the royal family nobles and clergy would be in danger.
But surprisingly there were those who immediately saw through Azadin’s sincerity and that was Nagadul.
The Naga Empire used their intelligence network to orchestrate this plan by having the priests of the King’s Church load the refugees onto shabby ships and transport them to Azadin’s territory.
At first of course it was met with opposition.
A large amount of troops and supplies had to be transported to attack Azadin directly.
It makes no sense to have to tow the ship away to send refugees when even the flimsiest ship has to be scraped together.
However Bishop Bohemond who was persuaded by the Nagas collected abandoned ships and scrap materials that were difficult to repair and gave them directly to the refugees.
The refugees repaired their own ships with the belief that they could survive if they went to Azadin’s territory and they crammed onto the flimsy boats they had built and began their deadly voyage.
Naturally the Nagas who devised this plan did not touch these ships so they safely arrived at the kingdom of Azadin through the southern sea route sometimes with the help of the Nagas.
*********
“These guys are so shameless!”
Seeing the refugees arriving on a disused wooden boat that looked like it would be difficult to cross even a calm lake Zect understood the situation at that moment.
They gathered up refugees and displaced people and sent them to the territory of the king they had blasphemed calling them soulless blasphemies.
It was clear that these guys were truly shameless.
Looking at the condition of the ship they came in it’s a miracle that they were able to cross the sea teeming with fishermen and other people.
‘Miracles don’t happen often so it’s called a miracle. These guys. They have the audacity to hold my hand even when I come out.’
Currently the Azadin army is in the process of recovering sugar plantations and other granary areas in Btouma.
In order to stop such Azadin Nagane used this super-strong weapon.
It was understandable that a timid and heavy-headed priest like Bohemond had come in person.
This guy wants to use this as a public offering to become king.
‘You came out with that heavy ass thinking you could make a fortune. What should we do? King Azadin would surely accept all those refugees. Then we’re doomed.’
Jecht was alone and confused. The others were trying to rescue the refugees because they had faith in King Azadin’s new medicine. Even Astadair was worried about the refugees.
“Let’s rescue them first. The ship is in shambles and the people are in such dire condition that they could starve to death at any moment.”
Even today you can still see people crammed into shabby junks and abandoned wooden ships only to fall into the sea unable to bear the hunger.
Astarte’s actions were worthy of being considered Azadin’s vassal.
However Jecht who understood Azadin’s management style well was different.
‘I can’t fall into this trap.’
Jecht avoided Astarte’s eyes and went behind the ship stabbing his own wrist causing a large amount of blood to spill into the sea.
A black shadow appeared in the waters of the sea.
-Bang!
A black shadow moved at a frightening speed attacking and destroying the refugee ship.
The junk ships were so fragile that even a slight touch would cause a gusher of water to shoot up and split the ship in two.
The refugees who had been starving for days and had not been able to drink water properly were practically half dead and the moment they hit the water they stopped breathing and sank to the bottom of the sea.
-pop!
-Bang!
As the water spray rose and the refugees’ boats sank one after another Astardair unable to stand by any longer stepped forward.
“What kind of people are you!”
A powerful halo of light appeared around Astarte. Astarte released the iron stakes he was carrying and they unfurled all at once rising into the orbit of his halo like the plumage of a peacock.
“Ugh!”
As Astaroth hurled the iron stakes they transformed into light bullets that flew and hit the water.
Astarte continued to attack chasing the black shadow moving through the water.
Zect clicked his tongue at the sight.
‘It really doesn’t work out. But I can’t say anything about it.’
The bizarre behavior began with Zect trying to avoid Astarte’s attacks as much as possible and attack the refugees’ ships while Astarte tried to save the refugees’ ships from Zect’s attacks.
