Night of the Soulless Heathens – 447

#448. Second Winter 4
“I’ll be able to save face in front of the other elders.”
He was hostile to Azadin but then switched to Azadin’s side.
Currently Sion Etar is under fierce attack from the elders of the Herald Clan on the pretext of impaling her cousin as queen.
He poured out criticism on the fact that he had rashly accepted Azadin a traitor from a clan that was not even a member of the Five Great Bloodlines as a member of his own clan.
But now won’t the other elders acknowledge it too?
The Northern Qi side does not particularly want the Tianling Clan and their situation is not good either.
From the perspective of the Herald Clan it may seem ugly to be reaching out to someone they were persecuting but joining hands with Azadin is the right answer.
“It looks like he’s in a meeting.”
“Then let’s wait and see. Let’s have the attendants provide alcohol and women to get information.”
Zion Etar approached the envoy’s entourage to attack them.
*********
He boils his attendants with alcohol women gambling and pleasure so information comes out easily without even asking.
Karasar and Tarasar were demanding that the Northern Qi pay them additional aid promised and that they be allowed to borrow ships so that they could participate in raids against Azadin’s forces.
Perhaps the fact that Chitai had made a huge profit by raiding Naisandhokar aroused competition among the other two kingdoms.
There is a saying that even adults can climb over someone else’s wall if they go hungry for three days but it is ridiculous to see kings who inherited the blood of gods turn into bandits when they suffer from extreme cold and famine.
But they had their own reasons.
Azadin is not the true king but a villain who has usurped the throne and is an enemy of the Church and it is the sacred duty of the kings the protectors of the Church to defeat him.
However since we are short on ships we would like to borrow the Northern Sea Fleet owned by the Northern Qi to transport troops and supplies.
It seemed like that kind of talk was going on.
“I’ll have to tell King Azadin to punish Chitai soon. Chitai has been on a roll by exploiting King Azadin so the others are starting to laugh at him and make fun of him too.”
Zion Etar was busy thinking about how to achieve good results through the information he had given to his attendants.
But then suddenly there was a commotion outside the window.
“Fire!”
“Oh my God! The embassy!”
It was at that moment that a surprised Sion Etar approached the window.

Suddenly sharp arrows flew through the window balcony.
Zion Etar who was dressed in the merchant’s attire swung the dagger and hem of his clothes that were attached to his belt in a hurry to ward off the flying arrows but these arrows were filled with terrible power.
A heaviness almost like a javelin pushed Zion Etar back.
The luxurious dagger is cracked the hem of the dress is torn and the arm is cut and bleeding.
“Huh!”
“What? I heard you’re an elder of the messenger clan but you’re still young? How can you stop this arrow? That’s amazing.”
“You guys?”
Zion Etar looked puzzled as he watched those climbing up onto the balcony.
In this vicinity were stationed servants of the Etar clan and servants chosen by the Senate.
The fact that enemies have appeared here means that the encirclement of the servants placed in that manner has been broken through….
On this continent of Hybris there is no one who can so quietly break through the siege of the Herald Clan except for one of the same Herald Clan.
“Is this the Northern Aragasa?”
“Northern Aragasa you guys must be Southern Aragasa.”
Those who climbed onto the balcony were a muscular woman larger than a man a stocky middle-aged man and a tall half-elf.
Surprisingly all three had the moon-shaped palace the symbol of Aragasa.
They openly resented the term Sion Etar used to refer to themselves as Northern Aragatha.
“We are the real Aragas and you are our fallen compatriots possessed by the Emperor’s ghost.”
“You guys are crazy. You mere slaves of the Northern Qi you think you can stand against us the once emperor’s messengers?”
The messenger clan secretly viewed the northern Aragasas as inferior to them.
The archery skills of the Northern Aragasa were similar to those of the Jeonryun clan but they did not have the magical book of flowers birds and wind.
The fact that there is magic that is naturally inherited through bloodlines and that there is not is an overwhelming difference that is difficult to follow even if you train magic postnatally.
But… then how could these guys eliminate the minions of Zion Etar so easily and arrive here?
Zion did not let down his guard and looked for something that could become a weapon.
Unfortunately he had put his weapons away while entertaining the envoy’s entourage so the only proper weapons he had were the dagger he carried on his person and the moon-shaped bow at his waist.
It was a mistake to never have dreamed that the enemy would enter such a heavily guarded place.
“The ambassador’s minions were pickled in alcohol drugs and women. This alone is excellent circumstantial evidence. How dare they assassinate the kingdom’s ambassadors.”
“You are talking nonsense Samira. We must catch that guy alive. He is the main culprit behind the massacre of the delegation.”
“….”
Sion Etar knew that they were already planning to kill the delegation and place the blame on him.
In that case I won’t kill you. I’ll have to run away and die…
“It seems I was underestimated.”
“No but he’s handsome. Don’t underestimate him. We’re just too strong.”
A woman named Samira came forward and pulled out a sword.
It wasn’t a normal crescent sword but a heavy curved sword that looked like it could cut down a bear with a single blow.
The veins on her arms bulge out.
“Against me who is as good as bare hands…”
The moment Zion Etar said that he suddenly activated his magic.

-The flowers birds wind and moon at dusk!
Sion Etar cast a spell of flowers birds wind and moon leaping out of the window and onto the roof of the elven mansion where embers were flying from the burning embassy.
As Samira leapt after him Sion Etar hastily drew two arrows from his bow and cast a spell.
-Two cranes!
He fires arrows using the magic of the white and yellow cranes. The two arrows draw different trajectories gathering magic and momentum as they fly towards Samira but…
-The flowers birds wind and moon at dusk!
Surprisingly Samira also used the Flower-Bird-Pung-Wol technique to quickly close the distance to Zion Etar.
‘What is this?’
A surprised Sion Ethar tried to kick the roof tiles but Samira swung her greatsword and struck Sion Ethar in the side with such force that it cut him off.
Zion Etar barely managed to avoid the blow by twisting his body but his side was cut in a long shallow way causing blood to spurt out.
The roof tiles that Zion had thrown were powerful enough to break the skulls of most humans but Samira instead caught them with her headbutt and broke them in midair.
Even though her skin was torn and bleeding profusely she grinned and stuck her tongue out.
“Okay. You’re really annoying. You’re excited.”
“You guys. How did you get to Kazas….”
Zion Etar stopped talking and used the magic of the Blue Pine this time.
This colorless magic that lifts the opponent into the sky for a moment is a surprise attack and cannot be resisted making it the best magic for knocking the enemy down or changing direction to create an opening.
But Samira smiled and flew away.
This time she charged forward with an explosion of magical power using the power of Kazas’s sword and in an instant she dug into Zion Etar’s arms and struck him with the Great Curve Sword.
-Kang!
Surprisingly the one who blocked the great valley was a half-elf who was Samira’s companion.
He intervened between Zion and Samira blocked the Great Curve with his scythe and clicked his tongue.
“Are you going to kill me Samira?”
“I can’t stand seeing a handsome man get stabbed by my sword and get covered in blood?! I won’t kill him. I’ll just taste him a little…”
“Huh?!”
Zion Etar was embarrassed when his enemies toyed with him instead.
Even though I don’t have any proper weapons to disguise myself as a merchant the enemies are too strong.
‘Is it because I’m an elder and have fallen behind in the military? No even when I was on active duty there were guys like this….’
Zion Etar drew on his magic power to somehow escape but a cold chill ran down his spine.
Another short northern Aragasa was already behind him.
“I was thinking of letting Samira and I fight alone. Done. You don’t have to see it.”
“what!?”
At that moment a spider web rose from the ground and instantly enveloped Zion Etar.
“This is the elder of the messenger clan? He’s weak. As expected they started a civil war and most of them went bad. I guess it’s true.”
“Hey I wasn’t that weak. I didn’t even have a weapon. If he’s weak what will happen to me if I get covered in blood?”
“Samira you’re the one who’s in trouble because you like bleeding too much.”
“What about the rest of the messenger clan? There must be some that we haven’t caught yet. Hmm. It seems like the subordinates have seen a lot of blood. See? I told you they’re not easy.”
“Let them live for a while. We need to warn the enemy. There’s no need for us to fight for our lives with the messenger clan and increase the number of our agents’ casualties.”
“Hmm I see.”
The Northern Aragats disappeared into the darkness leaving the burning embassy behind carrying Zion Etar with them.
*********
News spread that King Azadin had mobilized his heralds to murder the envoys of Tarasar and Karasar.
It was Azadin who was already suspected of assassinating the kings of Chitai and Karasar.
This time another assassination was carried out and the capture of Sion Etar an elder of the Herald Clan as the perpetrator was considered decisive evidence.
Of course Azadin denied the charges.
‘There is someone who benefits from assassination so there is no reason to assassinate them just for the sake of it.’
‘Zion Etar is just an ordinary merchant so let him go.’
‘If the season changes to winter now we won’t be able to fight and we’ll all freeze to death. Come to your senses. This is not the time for us to fight among ourselves. A king is someone who protects his people.’
Everyone felt disgusted at the sight of a criminal who dared to assassinate a king and then preach to kings what it means to be a king.
Azadin ignored them and checked the southern route.
He released Jecht Lord Astarte and Xibek who were former Inquisitors and devoted himself to subjugating the fish-people and reclaiming Btuma and Korasaar which had become the territories of the Nagas.
The Cheetahs appeared to have no interest in entering Naisandhokar taking over the land and building outposts to breach the Sandhokar Gate.
The northern kings felt insulted by the attitude of the kings who seemed to not even want to deal with them.
At this the Northern Emperor Cohen Lionaire could no longer tolerate it and declared that he would form an expeditionary force to subdue the unscrupulous Azadin.
Northern Qi formed an alliance with Tarasar and Karasar Chitai and was appointed commander-in-chief of the expeditionary force.
As commander-in-chief the Northern Emperor took responsibility for transporting military supplies and soldiers and mobilized the Northern Sea Fleet to transport the troops from Karasar and Tarasar to the south.
It was the prelude to another war.
