    #442. Manifestation of Darkness 5

    “That’s easy to understand.”

Azadin looked back as he rode his ghost goat.

A legion of fallen Celestials are flying through the sky closing in on him.

It was as if dark red clouds were chasing Azadin across the sky.

On the other hand Azadin’s physical condition cannot be said to be good even in vain.

To approach Triodana he clung to the bottom of the ship held his breath and waited.

I had to hold my breath for about four minutes in ice-cold water having just gotten out of bed.

It wouldn’t be a problem if I was healthy but it was too dangerous to do now that I was not feeling well.

Now that Triodana’s head had been cut off the recoil was eating away at Azadin’s body.

My body trembles in the cold. As I run hanging on to the back of a ghost goat with my body soaked in water the wind against me makes my eyebrows freeze in an instant.

If this were a live Kerim goat it would probably bury itself in its fur to keep warm but the ghost goat was usually cold so it felt like its butt was freezing.

It’s the worst in the world of extreme cold.

In a rush Azadin drew his ceramite longsword Aurelia Dunn.

The blade is burning and you can feel the heat.

However it glowed and made its location clear to the enemies and the enemies pursuing it moved even faster.

    “Azadin!”

The first to fly in was Triodana who still retained her human form compared to the other Celestials.

But his wings were stained blood red and strange parasite-like things were writhing between the feathers of his wings.

Those parasites were filling the holes in Triodana’s severed body.

“The king dares to personally assassinate someone! Was he doing this out of fear of being called a blasphemer? Are you trying to tarnish the dignity of the king?!”

Triodana cast a spell on Azadin angered by the strange part.

A crimson magic bullet was fired toward Azadin.

Azadin moved his ghost goat to dodge the attack and smiled bitterly.

“Just because you’re a king doesn’t mean you can just eat and play.”

On this continent a king must be a divine and great being who embodies the protection of God on this land.

In reality most people were tyrants who wielded their powers with harsh taxes and extravagant lifestyles but even so the position of king had such meaning.

However King Azadin himself stepped in as an assassin and cut off Lord Triodana’s head thus touching on the taboo shared by the Hybris people regarding the position of king.

But it’s funny that Triodana who has fallen to the limit is indignant about that very thing.

“Is it a kingly thing to harass his subjects and covet another man’s wife and is it a dishonor for a king to personally assassinate a woman? What about you a prince becoming corrupt and drawing upon the power of the Nether?”

“This is not corruption! This is leading humanity to true wisdom!”

Triodana insisted and cast the spell.

A black sphere formed around him and shot out with a terrifying force.

Azadin dodged the attack by spinning around the rock but the sphere that hit the rock exploded ripping the rock apart like a bite of cheese.

If even solid gold and stone can be torn off so easily a human made of leather would die instantly.

However Triodana who was wielding such powerful power was getting anxious.

    ‘I can’t access it…’

Azadin’s words are annoying but the strange movements he shows the martial arts unique to the Herald Clan and the strangely specialized magic for assassination are scary.

So instead of approaching Azadin Triodana fired spells from a distance to slow him down while the other Fallen Celestials took the lead.

Azadin jumped down the cliff to avoid the attacks of those Celestials.

    Is it suicide?

No the ghostly Kerim goat of Azadin glides briskly down the cliff stepping on the rocks and trees jutting out all over the cliff.

    “goofy!”

They are much faster than those who have to crawl down cliffs but slower than the Celestials who can fly freely through the sky.

Fallen Celestials flew down the cliff blocking Azadin’s path.

It was at that very moment that the corrupted Celestials gathered together and targeted Azadin.

    “Ugh!”

The mud wall of the cliff broke and those hiding inside jumped out. That’s not all.

There were also those lying in ambush at the bottom of the cliff.

The servants of the messenger clan and Ismail were lying in ambush.

They surprised the fallen Celestials who had rushed to capture Azadin and pierced their hearts with swords and arrows.

    “no!?”

Triodana was taken aback by the sudden attack of his enemies.

At that moment a black arrow Heukgangjeon was stuck in his wing.

    “Ugh?!”

Triodana can no longer fly and falls.

“Are you okay Your Majesty!? Anyway this kind of ridiculous and reckless thing….”

It was Seraph and Indim who fired the Black Steel Shot.

They waited on the cliff and shot Triodana at a precise location.

Everyone knew that Triodana wouldn’t rush in right away when pursuing Azadin.

Since Azadin succeeded in assassinating him and decapitated him in close combat there was no way he would engage in close combat without any countermeasures.

However no matter how high it flew in the sky if Azadin fell off the cliff it knew that it would naturally lower its altitude and approach the slope to see the bottom of the cliff in order to follow Azadin’s whereabouts with its eyes.

So Indim and Seraph waited on the slope and shot Triodana the moment she approached.

This operation was possible because the assassin was Azadin.

Didn’t they chase after him to their deaths because King Azadin himself had thrown his own body as bait?

    “Don’t make me laugh!”

Realizing that she had been completely fooled Triodana grew indignant and drew on the power of the Nether.

But the Black Steel War hinders his power.

The Black Steel Sword made from the scales of the mythical dragon Azahdin feared by the Aragats possessed the power of the Nether and was not inferior to the power of other Nether gods.

    “Cheongilsong!”

Indim ran as if he was flying and casted the magic of the blue and white pine tree of the flower and bird world.

Triodana’s body rises into the sky and then plummets to the ground.

At that moment Indim ran forward and grabbed Triodana’s head throwing her to the ground and hitting her head on a rock.

Triodana’s head was shattered with a terrible skull-shattering sound.

“So. You’re going to lead humanity to true wisdom? Don’t make me laugh. You became one of them because you were afraid of destruction. Someone like you is no match for Azadin who continues to fight even after seeing destruction.”

Indim laughed at Triodana but he was not dead yet.

Triodana’s arm moves to grab Indim.

    “caution!”

Seraph ran and struck Triodana’s arm with his sword.

“I didn’t let my guard down.”

“Is that so? It doesn’t seem like it to me.”

Indim and Seraph drew their swords and began swinging them at the still living Triodana.

The fierce attack of Indim and Seraph the strongest of the Herald Clan was truly terrifying and even if Triodana was a monster he was helpless when they fought at close range with their swords.

In the end Triodana was unable to regenerate and fell down completely in a mess.

“Wow it looks like you made about 200 pieces?”

“The flesh is still twitching. I can’t believe that this was the handsome prince who looked exactly like Lord Karna.”

Seraph who knew Karna’s face felt sorry for the piece of flesh that had once been Triodana.

“What good is it for a man to be handsome?”

“Indim. I am just saddened by the cruel fate. Oh Your Majesty. Are you all right?”

    “…cold.”

Azadin trembled and wrapped the blanket Ismail had brought around him.

Every part of my drenched body was frozen and no matter how much I wiped the ice and moisture with a blanket it was endless.

“What is this someone who just got out of bed…”

Ismail was concerned about Azadin’s poor health but he had no choice but to criticize him.

If Azadin hadn’t done it himself Triodana and the Celestials wouldn’t have been lured out of their home base like this.

“That’s amazing. I never thought you’d actually do it.”

The wights of the Fimbul Horde who were standing by in reserve were also shocked to see that Azadin had really managed to draw out Triodana and successfully assassinate her.

“So shall we go out and reclaim the Fireglyph?”

    “Yes? Right now?”

“Yes. Now that Triodana has been eliminated this is the chance.”

Azadin trembling gave orders to the Fimbul Horde to retake the Fire Glyph.

The Wisdom Order’s forces still remain in Fireglyph and the walls are still intact.

The troops that Azadin brought were only 20 servants of the messenger clan.

The Fimbul Horde’s forces are desperately needed to capture Fireglyph.

‘This kid treats other people’s troops as if they were his own….’

However the Wights could understand that now was the time to attack as Azadin had lured and eliminated Triodana and the corrupted Celestials.

“Understood King Azadin. I will follow your orders.”

The wights of the Fimbul Horde began to move at Azadin’s command.

    *********

With Triodana dead and a considerable number of fallen Celestials lured and killed the enemy was left without a commanding force.

Azadin borrowed the forces of the Fimbul Horde and immediately began attacking Fireglyph.

First we attacked the enemies at the docks who were trying to transport Fireglyph’s supplies.

This prevented the Whites and Wyvern Riders from raiding the docks and pillaging Fireglyph’s supplies.

    “That’s ridiculous!”

    “What about Triodana Sir?!”

The Wisdom Order’s priests were terrified when Lord Triodana who had run away in pursuit of Azadin did not return.

They tried to block it with the troops they had but the Fimbul Horde’s Wight Knights broke through their defenses with terrifying momentum and massacred them on the docks.

The surprised workers and the Wisdom Cult’s priests tried to take refuge inside the Fireglyph but the Heralds followed their movements and entered the castle.

“We must wait until Lord Triodana returns!”

    “No! Sir Triodana was murdered!”

“That can’t be true! He’s someone who won’t die even if his neck is cut off…”

The Wisdom Church priest spoke like this and was shocked by what he had just said.

If you don’t die even if your neck is cut off aren’t you a monster?

It is ridiculous to think about how I started going astray and served such a monster as my superior.

Commander Triodana may or may not be dead.

Those who had maintained some command were also met with disaster when they pursued Azadin with Triodana…

In a proper organization like this each person would just carry out their assigned role but unfortunately the Wisdom Sect had no wisdom.

As the world became corrupted by Nether magic few people had even a level of reason much less wisdom.

At that time news came that the battery in front of the castle gate had been captured.

“It’s the end. It’s shameful to call ourselves the Wisdom Sect.”

Even among the corrupted clergy who were engrossed in nether magic voices of self-mockery arose.

In the end Fireglyph Castle fell back into Azadin’s hands without much of a siege.

Azadin proved that human wisdom is greater than the power of the gods.
