Night of the Soulless Heathens – 44

#44. Curse of Service 6
“Tarki!”
“Huh? What is it? Isn’t it Bune?”
“Vine?”
“She is my half-sister.”
The woman named Viner is no less armed than Tarki and her speech is excellent but the armament of those accompanying her is poor unlike the time of Prince Kozel or Tarki. All she has is a longsword covered in hardened leather armor.
There was no horse so only Bühne was riding while the others walked and behind them was a cart that looked like it had been taken from a farmer.
‘Why do half-siblings do the same things?’
Azadin watched the reunion between the two in disbelief.
“What’s wrong Tarki? What happened to the mercenaries that were with you?”
This other bastard named Viner approached Tarki on horseback. Tarki was also riding so close that their horse heads almost touched each other.
“No that’s….”
“Did you Tarki put on some Kozel?”
“Huh? What do you mean applying Kozel?”
“Haven’t you heard? I heard Kozel just lost all his men and had his dick cut off. That’s why there’s chaos.”
“What? That’s true! Ah ah!”
Tarki was delighted by this. If Kozel the legitimate child had been castrated the inheritance would naturally pass to the next person with intact limbs. Tarki would become the heir to the family.
“Ah as they say if you live righteously blessings will come. I’ve been living diligently and my ancestors have blessed me.”
“….”
Azadin who was listening burst out laughing.
‘Are you living right? These kids have their mouths open and they just blurt out whatever they want?’
At that moment Büyük laughed.
“But where did all the mercenaries your mother gave you go and you’re the only one left?”
“That’s what I mean…..”
At that moment Bühne drew his sword. Without even waiting for Tarki’s answer he quickly drew his sword and launched a surprise attack.
Tarki was completely caught off guard by the sudden attack. But then he heard the sound of the wind cutting behind him…

-Ttang!
The boulder collided with the sword and bounced off the blade. Azadin who had been on guard against Bühne from the beginning threw the boulder and saved Tarki.
‘Why did you come so close that it was unnecessarily close?’
Azadin had a lot of luggage on his goat so he walked while holding the reins making it easy to pick up stones from the ground.
‘There’s no need to waste arrows on these idiots.’
The Heralds had a habit of using their arrows sparingly so Azadin concluded that even a single arrow was a waste for them.
“Ugh!”
Tarki stepped back in confusion.
“Been! Are you trying to kill me?”
“Come to think of it this would be better than looking for the Shinwangjinseo whose whereabouts I don’t even know.”
Bühne complained.
“shit!”
Tarki also drew his sword.
“Kids hit!”
At Bühne’s command her subordinates began to charge.
*********
Tarki was surprised that his close friend Bühne was attacking him because of his ambition.
“Been! You’re making a mistake. Do you know who I’m with right now?”
As Tarki spoke he proudly looked back at Azadin and his party. However Azadin and Midiam Ismail were just watching with their arms linked.
“What are you doing bro! I need your help!”
A terrified Tarki retreated as he was attacked by enemies coming towards him with swords.
“I wanted to see your skills.”
“Isn’t that too much?”
As Tarki spoke he was busy fending off the attacks of those who were rushing in.
Judging from the fact that he is able to avoid the attacks of four men and women and retreat alone he seems to be fighting quite well but to be honest the skills of the attackers are below par. Since the pass is not done properly Tarki is able to defend by retreating on horseback.
‘The guys who were attached to Prince Kozel and this guy were really good. Of course they might be able to show off their chins against ordinary people but compared to the Aragasa they’re too weak.’
Azadin was coldly assessing them. At that moment one of them rushed at Azadin. It seemed that he was trying to distract Tarki’s mind by attacking Azadin who was watching from behind.
However when Azadin took a light backstep the distance widened significantly. The speed difference between Azadin and I was so great that I could not possibly catch up.
“Medium Ismail. You guys do it. Don’t kill them. Let’s test your skills.”
“Huh? Don’t kill me? My opponent is swinging a real sword and rushing at me.”
“You can do that much right?”
“All right.”
Ismail leapt forward and drew his short sword.
“These kids…..”
The one who came out to strike Azadin trembled in humiliation as he saw the young boy drawing his sword at him. Ishmael made a gesture as if he was going to receive a longsword attack with his shortsword.
“This kid is ignoring me?”
The young man with the longsword was indignant at Ismail’s attempt to block his attacks with his small sword and attacked him with all his might. But that was just Ismail’s plan.

Ismail easily evaded his opponent’s attack with a switch step. He switched from a position where his right foot was in front to his left foot and lightly and nimbly deflected and escaped his opponent’s attack attacking from the side.
Since he was physically weak he couldn’t incapacitate his opponent with just a blow and he couldn’t use magic to reveal his identity so he boldly stabbed the inner thigh where his armor was shallow with a short knife. It wasn’t a fatal wound but it was an exquisite spot where he could die from blood loss if he didn’t stop the bleeding.
‘I’ve seen it before but he’s pretty good. This kid could easily be a messenger.’
Ismail is big and fast for a boy but he doesn’t have the brute strength of Azadin so he can’t incapacitate his opponent with a single blow. So he wounds them exquisitely.
If you block the wound with your hand you won’t die but it’s a wound that will make it impossible to fight anymore. If you ignore it and rush in you can fight but it’s a wound that will kill you through blood loss.
If you can leave something like this you must have quick hands a wealth of anatomical knowledge and a cool collected personality.
“That’s great.”
Azadin praised purely and looked at Medium.
“Should I do it too?”
“Yeah. I want to see your non-magical skills too.”
Medium has already demonstrated powerful magical abilities but what about the parts that don’t?
“I understand. Azadin is no longer single so I….”
“what?”
“But that’s it? If Azadin had been cursed with service he would have been in his stomach by now…”
“….”
“So you’re not leaving the fighting up to us?”
“No! What kind of horrible thoughts are you thinking of….”
At that moment Tarki’s scream was heard. Tarki had been caught in the mercenaries’ attack and had fallen from his horse.
It is a natural result of the horse continuously retreating and defending itself. It can be said that the horse that retreated so well against the advancing enemy was actually quite a good horse.
‘Are you stupid?’
The horse and armor were of the highest quality but in fact even if he had just stepped forward and passed by the man and woman armed with longswords would have been no match for Tarki. But now that he has fallen from his horse…
Azadin sighed and stepped between them.
“You’re up to here!”
“What are you!”
The angry longsword man and woman tried to swing their swords but Azadin grabbed the blades from their hands. A struggle began between the one holding the blade and the one holding the handle.
Common sense would suggest that it would be advantageous to hold the handle but when Azadin lightly twisted the sword those holding the hilt were thrown to the ground.
“Ouch!”
“eww!”
Those who have wrestled with Azadin quickly realize that their opponents have incredible strength. They also have precision and focus that they cannot match.
However those who did not directly touch Azadin looked down on him for barging in without even drawing his sword.
“Huh?”
“I wonder if this kid has learned anything?”
“We can do some swordsmanship too!”
“How much money did we give to our swordsmanship master?”
They rushed at Azadin but Azadin slammed them to the ground one by one and confiscated their longswords. Finally Azadin pinned them all to the ground.
“Oh thank you. As expected from you brother.”
Tarki stood up and thanked Azadin.
“Don’t say things like that. I’m worried that people will think you and I are close.”
“Aren’t we getting closer now?”
“No please… behave yourself.”
Azadin was fed up with the children of Count Kazel who had a habit of plundering the people.
‘How do these guys usually live like this?’
Although Azadin was a member of the soulless blasphemous messenger clan who were persecuted all over the world he honestly did not want to get involved with people who behaved like this.
“Damn it. What the hell is this guy!”
Bühne was indignant and charged his horse intending to trample down Azadin and the dismounted Tarki.
‘He’s better than Tarki at least in tactics? But…’
Azadin easily avoided the horse’s charge and grabbed Bühne’s leg. Bühne swung her sword at Azadin’s head. But Azadin pulled her foot out of the spur and pulled herself up sitting down to avoid the sword. Bühne also fell off her horse.
“evil!”
Bühne screamed as he fell from his horse with his legs split open.
“Ah… my pelvis! My pelvis….”
*********
Azadin also subdued the Bühne gang and went back up the road. He soon found a farmer crying because his cart had been taken away by the Bühne gang.
Judging by the piles of hay that were carelessly thrown on the roadside it seems that these men had confiscated and taken away the wagons that were originally used to transport hay threw away the hay and filled the wagons with loot instead.
“We’ll return the cart so let’s give back the looted goods to as many people as possible.”
As Azadin spoke the farmer kept nodding his head.
“Thank you! Thank you very much. My name is….”
“The true successor of Count Kazel. Tarki!”
“….”
Azadin glared at Tarki who had intervened beside him.
“Okay. Hey you guys. Put the hay back on the wagon.”
“Yes? Us?”
“Then should I do it or you guys? What are these guys? What kind of idiots are they?”
When Azadin asked his illegitimate child Vineh she groaned and answered.
“Yeah. They’re my friends.”
“friend?”
“They are great adventurers.”
“admiration?”
It looks like this bastard named Vineh who calls himself an adventurer has been doing ruffian things and meeting up with these rascals to have fun.
Then he was tempted by the Count’s promise that he would make him the head of the household if he came to Shinwangjinseo so he went out but Shinwangjinseo was thrown away and he was busy plundering. In the meantime it seems that he heard the news that Prince Kozel had been eliminated in the competition for the heir and went looking for Tarki.
‘You thoughtless fools. How absurd. People are already suffering due to the drought and these guys are running around looking for the New King’s Book?’
When Azadin questioned the so-called adventurers he found out that they were all children of scribes engineers lawyers and other wealthy families if not nobles and that they had run away from home with the playful Bühne in search of quick fortune.
“Okay. If you don’t move the haystack I’ll take your weapons and tie you to that tree over there. Leave your pants off.”
When Azadin threatened the faces of Büne and her adventurer companions turned pale.
