    #418. Tempest 7

    Azadin watched the soldiers’ reactions.

Among the soldiers half are agitated and the other half are not.

To drive a wedge into them Azadin once again persuaded the soldiers and residents of Vissen.

“Your angels are evil heretics created using the blood of tainted angels. Do not be deceived by them. If you surrender now you will be cleared of treason. However if you resist you will not be spared from punishment according to the law and order as the guardians of the royal law. Know that this is not a persuasion to overcome your walls but purely to give you a chance to be forgiven.”

In fact the walls of Bisen were in shambles destroyed here and there by the sabotage of the Herald Clan just yesterday.

Even if Azadin is a messenger clan the rebellion of Visen has lost its justification. It is difficult to gain the advantage of Mercury.

‘And if you’re not controlling and subduing the soldiers’ minds you’ll probably be feeling a lot of resentment by now.’

The Bissen Province was famous for its iron ore and iron products and such places had to make a living through trade.

However since both land and water routes were connected to Banling or Bthuma trade was cut off now that Azadin who had taken the throne of Banling had rebelled.

Even if those who are reluctant to let the Northern Qi or Azadin take over the hegemony try to fill the void it is not easy to take care of a remote place like Bisen.

Azadin was confident that the suppression of Vishen’s rebellion was almost over since he would lose control of the residents if he took his time.

But then from the Vissen side Celestials with crimson wings appeared above the castle walls.

“Shut up. Azadin of the Herald Clan. Do you think I’ll be swayed by your nonsense?”

“Our lord is only the Northern Emperor Cohen Lionaire! He is the King of Kings! He was rightfully chosen by the King’s Church! You are a usurper who dared to usurp the throne as a member of the Herald Clan!”

“We have sworn allegiance to the Northern Qi so how can we break this oath?!”

It was obvious that they were trying to restore the morale of the soldiers by selling the name of the Northern Qi.

    Azadin laughed and said.

“How dare you speak of the name of the Northern Emperor so carelessly. Lord Karna standing here now is the son of the Northern Emperor!”

    “……yes?”

Karna looked at Azadin in horror.

Originally he was the son of the Northern Emperor who was reincarnated as a Celestial and officially already dead.

It is true that he is the son of the Northern Emperor but biologically he is not the son of the Northern Emperor.

But what does that matter to the people?

“Do not tarnish the honor of the Northern Emperor. Was it Triodana Kyung who sold the name of the Northern Emperor to you? Although he is the son of the Northern Emperor he is a swindler who has a wicked and evil heart and sells his father’s name!”

    “Yeah you….”

    Bissen was also embarrassed.

As Azadin spoke on behalf of the Northern Qi as if he were their close friend their attempts to sell the name of the Northern Qi and boost their morale began to go awry.

Azadin’s subordinates just laughed behind his back at his antics.

‘For the honor of the Northern Emperor? This man lies so smoothly without even wiping his mouth…’

    The effect was very powerful.

It was truly a stroke of genius that Azaddin did not hold any hostility toward the Northern Qi but rather showed respect for them.

“It is regrettable that you have been deceived by Triodana’s lies and have tarnished the name of the Northern Qi.”

“No don’t talk nonsense! You’re the one who’s betraying His name!”

In the end Vissen’s side who had fallen for Azadin’s pace aimed for him with a cannon and shot him.

A cannonball lands far in front of Azadin then hits the ground and bounces back.

It was out of range of the cannon but luckily the shell did not hit the ground but bounced and flew low.

    But Azadin stood still.

The Kerim goat that Azadin was riding was a ghost that Arael had passed on to Azadin and the bullets would simply pass through its body.

“Shooting the envoy who advised surrender!”

    “You’re crazy! This is blasphemous!”

There was chaos among Azadin’s vassals.

It is rude and impolite to shoot an envoy urging surrender let alone a king.

The king came forward and advised surrender but he shot. Of course it was not a distance that could be reached in the first place and Bisen’s side also did it as a last resort.

This means that he has admitted that he has no chance of winning in a war of words with Azadin.

    ‘hmm?’

But the soldiers who had been agitated until just a moment ago no longer responded.

As the crimson-winged Celestials spread their wings simultaneously a dark aura flowed out from them subduing the spirits of the Visen soldiers.

They opened their mouths like carp coming up to the surface took out their crossbows and bows and muskets and got into a fighting stance.

    ‘You’re subduing the spirit.’

At that moment a group of cavalry from Bissen jumped down the collapsed wall and ran towards them.

The riders charged with a terrifying momentum running down the collapsed and tangled castle walls as if they were skilled riders racing down a cliff.

The goal is to quickly capture Azadin and end the fight.

This must be something he did knowing that Azadin’s army’s core is Azadin.

“If we just catch that guy all our problems will be solved!”

The crimson Celestials charge towards Azadin with terrifying momentum.

But Azadin watched them as if teasing them and deliberately waited for their charge… and moved the Kerim ram he was riding to the side.

    The Kerim goat jumps sideways.

The speed of the change of direction was so great that the crimson Celestial cavalry that charged on horseback were taken aback.

Originally the Kerim goat was not suitable for riding because its height changed more than that of a horse when running.

Even if you run just a little bit the rider will bounce up and down.

However if you are a herald you can hang on to a Kerim ram and the Kerim ram can easily shake off the horses with its amazing jumping and turning ability.

Although horses have better straight-line running ability it is difficult for horses to keep up with Kerim goats which are excellent at turning.

The red-and-black Celestials that had been charging hurriedly turned their horses’ heads. As the number of cavalrymen changed direction abruptly the turning radius naturally increased.

It’s amazing just to be able to change direction without getting entangled with each other.

    “Wow that’s amazing.”

Azadin turned and watched the Celestials chasing him in pure admiration.

Of course from the Celestials’ point of view it seemed like Azadin was making fun of them.

If he had run farther away he might have given up on Azadin and used his breakthrough power to attack other soldiers.

But Azadin is still waiting for them in a space that seems within arm’s reach.

The crimson-winged Celestials charged towards Azadin once again and Azadin dodged their attacks by sidestepping with his Kerim ram once again.

‘You can run away easily but you might also run into soldiers…’

Azadin deliberately decided to lure these crimson Celestials by staying close to them as much as possible rather than running away at full speed.

Then a young woman among the crimson Celestials ran straight towards Azadin.

“Die! You enemy of my father!”

Lord Maya. A knight of the King’s Church whose father was murdered by Azadin in the region of Korasarr Salasma.

“You won’t say that you’ve forgotten my father Sir Gareth will you!?”

“Of course I forgot. Excuse me who are you?”

    Of course Azadin remembered her.

Sir Gareth a knight and his daughter Sir Meiya who killed civilians in the County of Salasma by accident and then killed more people to silence them.

But he pretended not to know and picked up Grimslow’s club to deliberately provoke his opponent.

The club grew and transformed itself into a long spear at the end of which was attached a blue executioner’s axe-head made of Azure Steel making a long halberd.

Azadin took out Maya’s attack with this halberd….

    -Cheek!

An unexpectedly great force pushed Azadin back. Even the Kerim goat was pushed back and had to take a few steps to the side.

    “It’s strong. Isn’t it surprising?”

Originally Lord Maya was a knight of the King’s Church but he was closer to a civil official than a military officer and his skills were somewhat lacking.

But now she is swaying Azadin with a frightening momentum.

Although his swordsmanship was crude his tremendous strength and speed which transcended humans made up for his crude swordsmanship.

Azadin blocked her attacks with his halberd and slowly dodged to the side.

    “Don’t run away!”

Maya is annoyed. Even though she tries to chase after Azadin her horsemanship is not able to keep up with his movements.

Instead she supported the horse’s movements by spreading her wings and fluttering them in the air.

    “Wow! That’s impressive!”

    “shut up!”

Maya was furious at Azadin and chased after him flapping her wings.

Azadin’s halberd and her sword clashed several times in the air sending sparks flying.

“So. Why aren’t you back home and are you here? Lord Maya?”

“The gods took pity on me who was toyed with by you and Jecht and gave me this power!”

    “So what kind of god?”

“Profit! Shut up! If you really want to hear it try to beat me!”

Maya became enraged and stabbed Azadin in the back of his neck with her sword.

    however….

    -Kang!

Azadin’s halberd shattered Meiya’s crimson ceramite longsword.

Blood spurts from the cross-section of the sword. Amazingly this crimson ceramite longsword bleeds as if it were a living thing.

Azadin reversed his halberd and caught Maya’s hilt with the pike sinking her into the ground.

Maya tried to counter the force by stepping on the saddle’s stirrup but her horse fell to its knees and bowed to the ground.

    “Ugh?!”

And Azadin holds that position with only one hand while with the other he grabs the hilt of his other weapon Aurelia Dunn which he carries on his back.

As for Maya she is in a situation where she can’t do anything.

Other crimson Celestials unable to stand by and watch rushed to her aid but arrows rained down on them all at once.

“Support Your Majesty! This is not an honorable duel! They dared to fire at Your Majesty who offered to surrender first!”

At Midiam’s shout the messengers began to fire arrows.

    and….

    -Pfft!

As Celestial approached Maya and Azadin an iron stake protruded from his chest.

“The King himself is acting as bait. What’s the point of just watching this?”

“How many should we kill and how many should we keep alive?”

Lord Jecht and Lord Astarte appeared on either side of the Celestials.

    *********

The battle soon came to an end as the Heralds rained down arrows and former Inquisitors Jecht and Astartair cut off the retreat.

Half of the Celestials with Crimson Wings were killed and the other half were taken prisoner.

As Azadin defeated the crimson-winged Celestials in one fell swoop the governor and officials of Visen quickly rushed in front of Azadin and bowed their heads.

“I’m sorry. We were being manipulated by them.”

“Evil magic has taken over our minds and clouded our eyes. Now that we have come to see the light we are like a blind man opening his eyes to the light of the King’s Flower.”

So he started to claim that he was just being manipulated by magic and that it wasn’t his true intentions.

“Whether it’s true or not will be revealed when we investigate. So? How did you become an angel with these crimson wings?”

In response to Azadin’s question the surviving Celestials with crimson wings held out a small glass vial.

It was the blood of angels.
