#406. The Age of Revelation 7

I was impressed by Azadin’s lofty intentions and immediately offered him my sword but he asked me to hand over my military authority. I didn’t feel like saying no so I complied. However it was a situation that was perfect for me to be purged.

But I can’t go back on my words now and I came here with good intentions but ended up being completely fooled.

Of course after Azadin took the military power away from Karna he asked him to select officers and horses from various places and assign them to him and train them in mounted combat to make them knights.

It was not intended to purge Karna but rather to assign him the role of cavalry instructor. However he was given the knights he had and given them newbies so it was natural for him to feel uneasy.

However Karna who had gone out trembling saw Lord Jecht being carried away by people while heading to the king’s audience room.

Karna also knew that Lord Jecht had returned from Bisen after suffering a terrible ordeal. He had probably collapsed from extreme fatigue.

    But everyone’s atmosphere is strange.

“Is it true that Lord Jecht challenged the king?”

“Is that true? But King Azadin scolded him harshly so Lord Jecht collapsed.”

“How can that be? Isn’t Lord Jecht the Inquisitor?”

“But they say that Lord Jecht committed a great sin. When King Azadin asked for his sin and ordered him to be punished as a knight of atonement Lord Jecht fell.”

    “…?”

As I listened the soldiers’ boasts grew endless.

Karna heard their words and entered the king’s audience chamber.

Azadin was waiting for him standing in the center of the audience room not on the throne.

The atmosphere was ominous as if someone might draw their sword at any moment.

Sir Jebeck was lost in thought looking in the direction in which Sir Jecht had been carried away while Bernard was casting a revitalizing spell to revive Bishop Visen who had fallen.

“I heard you called Your Majesty.”

    “Oh Lord Karna.”

“What the hell is going on? I just saw Lord Jecht being carried away.”

“It must have been because they were tired. Not only did they escape from Bissen and march but they also kidnapped the bishop.”

“Is that so? But listening to what the soldiers are saying….”

“Why? When I scolded you you vomited blood and collapsed?”

    “…yes.”

“Do you know that this is not worth arguing about? More importantly Lord Karna. In Visen Lord Jecht said he saw a Celestial with crimson wings.”

    “Crimson wings?”

“And she was even said to have been a knight of the King’s Church once under the command of Lord Jecht. Any idea?”

“Hmm. This is the first time I’ve heard of it.”

    Karna said cautiously.

“It’s probably not the Northern Qi’s doing.”

    “Why do you think so?”

“Asander and Bisen where the Northern Emperor is located would take three months to walk but it would be impossible to deploy manpower to Bisen that quickly. Even if you praise him as the King of Kings and all you don’t know how much effort and resources it would take to set up and operate an organization so far away from the kingdom. Even though we have invested a lot in the Rescue Knights isn’t Bisen outside the Rescue Knights’ sphere of influence?”

What Karna learns when he joins Azadin’s warlords is that the Northern Empire is not as impressive on the inside as it appears on the outside.

Of course it is true that he is the king of the eight kingdoms and has been given the title of King of Kings by the Church of Kings and that he has already stockpiled a huge amount of grain in preparation for Fimbulbert.

He was by no means a man to be taken lightly but like Azadin’s warlords he had many loopholes here and there as he expanded his organization in a hurry.

“Even so in order to create a Celestial with crimson wings shouldn’t there at least be a sect of the Knights Templar? That’s why I initially suspected that it was the Wisdom Sect that did it but if a knight of the King’s Church became a Celestial then the person who performed the ritual should have a position that could demand that a knight of the King’s Church sacrifice his life.”

It is impossible to create a Celestial without angel blood.

And to subjugate a paladin of the King’s Church one must have a corresponding position in the cult.

The King’s Church is a popular religion that serves the Knights Templar as a lesser god.

They acknowledge them because they have many followers who believe in them and are quite useful and they willingly bend to some extent to join in but they will never accept the Salvation Knights’ request to give them a paladin.

Who else but the Northern Cohen who has such great influence over both denominations could do such a thing?

“In that case I will try to wake up Bishop Bissen. It would be better to hear it directly from the person in question. Of course it would be bad for his health but when I think about it this author is a traitor.”

Bernard said so and increased the intensity of his blood magic.

After a while Bishop Bissen vomited a handful of vomit and opened his eyes.

    “Ugh… Where is this?”

“This is the heart of the mountain the capital of the Banreung Kingdom. Welcome Bishop Bisen. I was worried you might die from severe motion sickness.”

    “Huh… that messenger clan?!”

Bishop Bissen looked at Azadin in confusion.

“You kidnapped me? No but I definitely….”

“Ject Sir brought me here. So I have something to ask you.”

“Do you think I’ll answer a guy like you? You soulless blasphemous bastard!”

Even though Bishop Bissen said so his body could not take it when he lost his temper and he started vomiting again.

He also started coughing violently as if vomit had entered his airway.

    “Someone bring me some water.”

    “…your majesty?”

    Jibek was embarrassed.

The king’s giving of water to the captive is a declaration of his intention not to kill him. Isn’t it too hasty to give him water when he has something to say to Bishop Bissen?

You have to show him that you can kill him at any time before he confesses the truth.

But the king commanded so the servant brought water and filled a basin with it.

The bishop rinsed his mouth with trembling hands. His hands began to tremble and he threw the washbasin down.

A brass washbasin rolled on the floor making a loud clanking noise.

    “How dare you!”

Although outraged by the bishop’s actions that mocked the mercy of the King of Zibek Azadin stopped Zibek.

“Why are you so angry Bishop?”

The Bishop of Vissen was strangely angry.

The province of Bissen is a land that has no proper port and must trade mainly through land and inland waterways.

Although they had been demoted to a province by the Banling Kingdom and harbored resentment towards the Banling Kingdom now that Btuma has fallen there is no future if they become enemies with the Banling Kingdom.

In this land it is a thoughtless act to set a trap and commit treason not only against Azadin the king of Banreung but also against his general Jecht.

It is a kind of suicidal act that is difficult to commit unless there is a big backer behind you or a strong motive that is willing to risk your life.

And Azadin saw just that strong motivation in Bishop Vissen.

“If you’re going to kill me then kill me! You arrogant bastard! There’s no way the spirit of Yaegasu would have chosen someone like you.”

    “…What does that mean?”

“Your evil tricks may fool the Northern Qi and others but they cannot fool me. Ugh…..”

And then the bishop started vomiting.

A horrible liquid mixed with blood gastric juice and bile pours out like a waterfall.

It is clearly an amount that exceeds the volume of a human being.

    “your majesty?!”

    “….”

Azadin stood back silently watching the Bishop of Vissen pour out everything in his heart.

The Bishop of Vissen fell prostrate on his own vomit.

“Ahhhhh. Is that so! Oh my god! I understand! Ahahahahaha!”

The Bishop of Bissen suddenly began to laugh alone in a voice full of emotion.

And his back was torn open and blood spurted out.

Wings dyed in crimson light extended from the Bishop of Vissen.

“As expected waking up the bishop clears up all my doubts.”

    Azadin said to Bernard jokingly.

Even Bernard who was normally calm was flustered by the unexpected turn of events.

“I did use blood magic on the bishop but it was just magic to boost his vitality. This is…..”

The Bishop of Vissen who had become a Celestial with crimson wings sang a hymn of joy.

A distorted twilight-like halo formed around him and radiated powerful energy in all directions forcing Azadin and the others to retreat.

“The true God has chosen me and the revelation has come down! You soulless blasphemer! There is no way that someone like you could be chosen by the gods! This is the power of the true messenger of God!”

    “Yeah yeah. I guess so.”

As Azadin gestured guards appeared from the back of the king’s audience chamber.

The dwarf Blunderbuss soldiers began firing at Bishop Vissen all at once.

It wasn’t a blunderbuss but something closer to a numerical cannon that tore Bishop Bissen apart in an instant.

    “Kwaaak!”

“I originally planned to use it against Jecht Kyung but I’m glad it wasn’t a wasted effort.”

Azadin rushed at Bishop Vissen who was reduced to a rag by the gunshot.

A stream of crimson blood shot out from Bishop Bissen’s body aiming at Azadin.

Even in this situation Bishop Bissen chose to counterattack Azadin.

However Azadin immediately unfurled his ground spider to dodge the blood stream and turned to the right slicing through Bishop Vissen’s torso with his ceramite longsword.

    “This false prophet!”

The enraged Bishop Visen turned his gaze to follow Azadin but at that moment Azadin somersaulted and leapt over Bishop Visen.

Bishop Bissen turned around to chase the man who had hit him and turned back but he was still bitten on the back…

    -Phuk!

The ceramite longsword pierced through Bishop Vissen’s ribcage.

Azadin twisted his sword and slashed it horizontally across the diaphragm and the base of the lung widening the wound and pulling it out.

    “Ugh…..”

Blood poured out along with the bishop’s scream.

“Well. I tried not to kill the priests if possible.”

But the current situation was not an easy one.

    *********

“It’s surprising that the rivers in the southern region freeze over in the winter.”

An elegant blonde-haired woman who looked to be in her late teens held onto the railing of the boat and looked out.

There was black ice in shallow areas of rivers and waterways designed for inland water transport.

Although there was no problem at all with the navigation of the ship it was a terrible disaster for the people of the southern inland region who had never experienced the cold before as they could have frozen to death.

“Don’t say anything my lady. At least this place is better because we have King Azadin’s protection.”

“Are you talking about the king from the messenger clan? What kind of person is he?”

“Oh my how dare I speak against the king?”

“From what you say it seems like you recognize him as king?”

“How could I not acknowledge it when the light of the King Flower has truly reached me?”

The sailor spoke like this and then looked around his voice quiet.

“Until now when the dwarven kings were on the throne not only was there no light from the crown but vampires and ogres would roam the streets every night and take people. I really hope that other kingdoms and clergy can talk to the current king. Honestly the elders don’t like it when the herald clan takes the throne but from our perspective it’s better to have him rule.”

    “Is that so?”

The woman smiled as she listened to the sailor’s words.

At that moment a masked figure with a hunched posture appeared next to her.
