Night of the Soulless Heathens – 401

#401. The Age of Revelation 2
“By the way I’d like to talk about Medium Etar.”
“Ah you mean Etar’s daughter?”
“Yes. I thought the clan would soon offer me a deal with her new recruit. But why haven’t they said anything yet?”
Now that Azadin has been declared the king of Banreung and even the church has not shown much reaction to him Azadin is now the true king of Banreung. The subordinates around him now call Azadin king and Azadin also takes it for granted.
Aren’t you actually calling him Your Majesty?
In this situation the Aragasa messenger clan that Azadin knew would naturally turn friendly to Azadin along with the Northern Qi.
Although he has been looked down upon and treated as an enemy by those who have belittled and antagonized him calling him Azaddin of Muan the mortal enemy who has destroyed the dreams of his clan and the traitor of his clan he has now achieved too much.
‘If you look closely it’s all just a one-night mirage.’
On the surface Azadin is an unprecedented hero who rose from the status of an untouchable to the throne.
“Is it possible that Medium escaped and now she is unable to trade with you as a new recruit?”
“Are you just trying to roughly poke at it now?”
Delia pretended not to notice Azadin’s words that were poking her.
“Even if Midiam Ethar escapes it’s okay. We have much to negotiate including her safety. Delia you just relay my words to the elders. I would like you to personally relay them to Sion Ethar.”
“No really. If you stab me like that I’ll be in an awkward position. The Senate is already suspecting that I’m clinging to you.”
Delia said so and sighed.
With that she essentially admitted that the new recruits of Midiam Etar were not in the Herald Clan.
The fact that she had told Azadin everything about Midiam Etar’s whereabouts was embarrassing even asking the other messengers if Midiam had escaped. That could be seen as such.
If Midiam Etar has not yet escaped and is still in the clutches of the Heralds then there is no reason for her to be embarrassed.
“There is no reason not to take a stab at it when you can gain something by just sitting still.”
Even if Azadin lightly pokes them the upper echelons of the Herald Clan begin to suspect that Delia the practitioner has betrayed them.
From Azadin’s perspective he can completely harass his opponents with just a few words without having to spend a single penny or drop of sweat.
The political position he was in now had the power to embarrass Delia with just three inches of tongue.
“You who suffered as neither a messenger nor a servant have become a king so now you enjoy harassing and squeezing the people under you. I would appreciate it if you could pay attention to the position of the workers as well.”
“So how about the meeting?”
“I’ll contact you as soon as I’m ready. But can you tell me what you’re willing to trade so I can prepare myself mentally?”

“Sunwoo’s sun.”
“That’s a bit tricky. I’ll tie you up as the last hope of the clan.”
“Wouldn’t the answer vary depending on what I propose? Let’s do that first and prepare for the meeting.”
“And you’re not asking for anything else at the meeting are you?”
Delia looked at Azadin suspiciously.
Azadin just laughed it off.

As winter approached the cold grew even more intense.
The Bisen Province was a land of Banling connected to Btuma and was famous for its warm climate all year round and especially for being extremely hot and humid in the summer. Frost even fell here.
Although the light of Azadin’s royal crown protected Banreung it could not completely stop the abnormal climate.
I wish it was snowing. It was so cold that a normal person would freeze to death because it was sleeting.
This also worked fatally against Bree and the Ogre Goblins.
The ogres who were so large that they were resistant to the cold and had high body temperatures were able to survive this cold but they went crazy from the constant hunger and began to eat their own troops the goblins and Breeds alive.
Of course no proper battle took place.
But that changed the nature of the conflict from war to plunder.
The life of the nomads who pillage and the settled people who defend them is always a loss for the settled people.
When the farms outside the walls are attacked those gathered on the farms have no choice but to take their possessions and flee to the walled city.
Then the city suffers from food shortages. They have to somehow transport the goods that they couldn’t bring in but the task is not easy in the unfamiliar cold.
Zect’s solution to this was simple.
“Would you please hand over the prisoners’ bodies?”
Jecht used Nether’s sorcery to infect the prisoners of the province of Vissen making them hosts for new parasites.
It might be an excuse to steal the bodies of those who have committed mortal sins and use them as soldiers for the innocent but many of the people who flocked to the city to escape the cold and the wild beasts were those who had been caught stealing a few loaves of bread or a sack of barley.
Jecht who had even controlled these people with the magic of the Nether was not satisfied and became greedy for more.
“I’ll just touch the grave of the unclaimed person.”
Touch the corpses in the grave with necromancy to raise them from the dead.
A terrible force was created that made it impossible to tell which side was the evil army.
With the force he had created Jecht charged into the marauders’ camp causing them to mutually destroy each other.
The ogres fought well for their size but it didn’t matter.
When the two were destroyed Jecht cast a spell on the ogre’s body and replenished his forces again.
Having eradicated most of the raiders in the Bissen Province by any means necessary Jecht appropriately expended his troops to control the numbers.
The only ones who returned to Vissen’s fortress were Jecht’s close associates and soldiers who had recently been parasitized by the vampires.
But the gates of Bissen were firmly closed.
And on the walls appeared an armed force and the Count of Wissen and the Bishop of Wissen.
*********
“Hmm? What kind of behavior is this now?”
Jecht looked at Count Vissen who had closed the gate and asked.
“Sir Jecht. I think the prank went too far.”

“What do you mean a joke? Is it because of the Nether’s witchcraft? Let’s be honest. If we were ordinary soldiers we would have frozen to death just marching.”
“The King’s Church has excommunicated Count Azadin whom you have chosen to follow. Those who remain loyal to him are also heretics and traitors and you Lord Jecht will also lose your position as Inquisitor and be excommunicated.”
Zect’s prediction was wrong.
What they were saying to Jecht was not because Jecht had used sorcery but because they had decided to betray Azadin and Jecht according to the will of the King’s Church.
‘Yes. It was a shallow loyalty from the beginning. But it’s unexpected. The King’s Church is showing such decisiveness.’
Zect asked just in case.
“Hmm. Does that also apply to King Karnago IV of Arangi?”
As Jecht approached the wall asking this question Vissen’s crossbowmen and musketeers took aim at Jecht.
“Don’t come near me. I fear your magic and I don’t know what you might do.”
Perhaps because it is a province of the Kingdom of Banreung there are quite a few musketeers and crossbowmen.
Zect stopped when he saw the number.
“Then please answer my question Bishop. Was King Carnago IV of Arangi also excommunicated?”
“That is… of course someone in that position has a great influence on the people so you can’t just excommunicate them. Shouldn’t you educate them sufficiently and give them a chance to correct their mistakes?”
Excommunicating a king is not an easy task. Since King Arangi has recognized Azadin as his adopted son the political burden that the king’s church must shoulder is too great to excommunicate Azadin’s associates.
Did you do it with that in mind?
“Then what about me?”
“If Lord Jecht corrects his mistakes and becomes loyal to the Order again I would welcome it. Is that all? If Lord Jecht helps wouldn’t we be able to let down our guard and easily deal with our enemy Azadin?”
“Hmm. That’s unexpected. I thought by now you would acknowledge Count Azadin or rather King Azadin and seek peace. Who knows what will happen when Fimbulbert becomes harsh? Would it be okay for the humans to be divided and fight among themselves first? We might even have to excommunicate King Arangi.”
Jecht who knew the physiology of the church well realized that the atmosphere of the church had changed due to an unexpected variable that occurred.
Originally the knights of the King’s Church although individually outstanding in military force were not very useful in war.
Although he is excellent as a knight he does not have the ability to lead a war because war costs a lot of money.
Until now the King’s Church has taken the honor while passing the cost of this war on to the barons and kings.
So I thought I wouldn’t be able to directly confront Azadin who had established his own warlord and usurped the throne…
‘Something happened. What happened? What on earth happened that made a small-time person from Bissen treat me like a joke and do such things? Even Bishop Bissen the author used to be afraid of me and couldn’t even look me in the eye no matter what I did. When did he become so brave?’
The fact that Jecht was an inquisitor of the King’s Church and openly used sorcery was also to instill his fear in others.
But the bishop of Bissen with whom he had previously been unable to even make eye contact was not afraid of him and instead showed hostility towards him.
The wounded Jecht questioned the bishop.
“No matter what you could have said something nice. Do you really need to strike me in the back of the head while I’m away fighting the looters in this sleet for Bissen to protect the honor of the church?”
“Wasn’t it those damned messenger clans who broke the order first! A soulless blasphemer as king! I can’t accept that! Not to mention that blasphemer! How dare he revise the scriptures and call them the New Testament!”
“It seems like you’re misunderstanding something.”
Zect smiled.
“What I’m angry about is that they gave King Arangi a chance even though he didn’t want it but then hit me in the back of the head. It’s always been like this. Just because I was born a few months later. Just because I look bad. Just like other brothers become kings while others become monks against their will. And now even these scumbags are looking down on me and discriminating against me…”
The eyes of Zect’s troops began to glow.
Although the number has been reduced in order to enter the castle it is still sufficient to conquer Bisen Castle.
Yellow flames burst out from their bloodshot eyes. These flames actually burn with a heat like brimstone and begin to burn their bodies.
Zect’s army charged towards the walls of Vissen.
