Night of the Soulless Heathens – 395

#395. Iron Mask 7
“Oh. This is a miracle.”
“Oh my God! The rumors were true!”
People around him were amazed and unconsciously knelt down to pay their respects.
Even those who came out of curiosity to see what kind of person Azadin was could not help but show respect for his appearance.
Karna gritted his teeth as he looked at the majestic sight.
It’s clear that the upper echelons of the church who were told to deal with this guy cleverly have lost their minds.
If Karna touches Azadin carelessly the people will riot.
Doing so now with the refugees already rescued by Azadin overflowing would be like signing your own execution warrant.
But that didn’t mean Karna could back down.
He was a son who risked his life to be loyal to the Northern Emperor and that was why he was able to be reincarnated as a Celestial.
He had to live up to the trust and expectations of the Northern Qi who had trusted him and sent him here.
“You are not the only one who has manifested the light of the King’s Flower. The Northern Emperor Cohen Lioness has also….”
“Then that would be something he and I have in common. Surely it doesn’t mean that his royal light is worthy of respect while mine is not right?”
“Sir Azadin.”
Karna whispered only to Azadin so that no one else could hear.
“Despite the fact that the Northern Emperor has manifested the light of the King’s Flower his throne is intact. On the other hand in your case your throne is broken. The Knights are not speaking openly about it now but how can you have such a weakness and do this…?”
“I don’t think that’s a weakness?”
“yes?”
Karna was taken aback by Azadin’s confident words.
“When the throne was intact did the god-kings of Yaegasu protect the people? Most of them were tyrants who exploited the people in the name of religion. The act of protecting the people is important and the throne itself has no meaning.”
Karna was speechless as he watched Azadin proudly claiming that the throne was unworthy.
The words of someone who has broken the throne and says the throne is unnecessary are nothing but nonsense not worth listening to.
However Karna could be sure that Azadin was sincere.
*********
Sir Astadair had already infiltrated Banling Port with his men.

As a former king he knew well the devastation that battle would bring.
The troops created by Zect’s magic will be thrown at them as arrow cannons without any hesitation.
It will be a bloody disaster.
If Azadin is a hateful sinner there is no reason to lead an army and fight him instead of just killing him separately.
Thinking so he secretly infiltrated Banreung Port with only a minimal number of attendants.
But the moment he saw Azadin he realized he was wrong.
“Ha hahaha. This can’t be happening.”
He burst into laughter.
Azadin’s black hair and elegant bearing brought to mind an image buried deep in his memory.
“That’s ridiculous. That guy. Is he… Layla’s son?!”
The sight of Azadin riding a hippogriff reminded him of someone he knew.
The sin engraved on his soul that he wants to forget but cannot forget is something that cannot be erased.
He resembles the woman from the Jeonryeong clan who made him leak the New King’s Book.
‘I see why you can use the light of the king’s flower. That guy is my son!’
Astarte firmly believed that the messenger in front of him was his son.
‘You filthy… cursed messenger clan! Not only did you steal the Book of the New King through me but you also spilled the blood of the Yaegas clan! Ah. Astaroth you fool. Just because of such petty feelings how great a sin have you committed!’
Astarte had a strange misunderstanding(?) and hit his own head. The sinner’s iron mask took the blow instead and rang like a bell.
‘But I had a son. He was the Earl of the South the greatest hero of all time. He was very handsome. He didn’t look like me when I was younger… He looked more like his mother Layla.’
Astarte suddenly imagined himself as the king of Tarasar with a harmonious family and a son like Azadin a man who was not ashamed to be shown anywhere forming a glorious royal family and then shook his head in surprise.
In the past Astarte was just a prince who was accidentally thrown in before the succession to the throne.
He was proud of his outstanding martial arts skills and that he was not inferior to anyone but most of the princes of Yaegasu were just good-looking dogs so his fate was like a light in the wind.
Then suspicious people approached him and became his sponsors.
It was the messenger clan that approached with the aim of capturing the New King’s Book.
They demanded that Astarte swear an oath to the gods of her family and bloodline and to her destiny but Astarte secretly ridiculed their proposal.
After you become king you can just kick him away.
Breaking an oath is dishonorable but no one will condemn you for breaking the oath you have shared with your herald clan.
So Astarte decided to accept the sponsorship of the Herald Clan without much burden…
It was a misjudgment.
Leila.
This female messenger assigned by the Herald Clan to help Astarte was so beautiful and charming that Astarte fell in love with her.
Even though he knew that it was a fruit full of poisonous thorns he bit into it and when he came to his senses he had become a traitor who had leaked the New King’s Book.
Astarte enraged by his own sins began to hunt down and kill the Heralds who had controlled him and eventually drove even Layla to her death.
That’s what happened….
I still regret it.
I still missed her and yearned for her.
Perhaps she could have still had a harmonious family with a son like that?
If only he had abandoned the mission of the king and the mission of the Yaegas and run away with her…

‘Oh no. That is a sin. Oh spirits of Yaegasu look down on me.’
Then the halberds closed in front of him blocking his way.
Was it because he had been advancing little by little without even realizing it? As Astadair approached Azadin the guards blocked his path.
“Step back.”
“you are….”
Astarte clicked his tongue as he looked at the soldiers blocking his way.
A creaking noise brought him back to reality.
Yes. No matter how much you regret the past you can’t take it back.
Feeling the cold iron mask against his skin Astarte decided to do what he had to do.
“Step back. I am Astarte the heretic of the King’s Church. I seek to punish the evildoers who spread false doctrines. Anyone who stands in my way will face the wrath of the King’s Church!”
“This heretic inquisitor?!”
As Astarte stepped forward the soldiers retreated in surprise.
Astarte’s attendants rushed out all at once pulling out their buckles from their bosoms and striking them with the sides of their swords making a loud noise.
“This is the procession of Essar III the former king of Tarasar!”
Essar is the name of the king of Tarasar. When Astarte was king Essar III was king. The current king of Tarasar is Essar IV.
Astarte has abdicated the throne so it is wrong to call him Essar III. It is a name that can only be written in history books not spoken aloud by humans.
But nothing can convince the ignorant people like this.
It is impossible to explain all these complicated royal etiquette to the people.
“Hmm.”
Azadin smiled as he looked at the revealed Inquisitor Astarte.
‘Is this not a war but a one-man showdown? That’s wise. Yes. There’s no reason to make the soldiers attack and draw blood. The Rescue Knights also respect the King’s Church so if you’re confident in your abilities it’s better to just come. The problem is that he’s a former king so how strong is he?’
At that moment Jibek blocked Azadin’s path.
“Sir Azadin. Let us talk first.”
“conversation?”
“Yes. Is there really no need to fight? Lord Astarte is the former King of Tarasar. Harming him would not be good for the people’s feelings.”
“How cheeky. Are you worried that you’ll hurt me?”
Astadair scoffed at the thought that Xibek was taking Azadin’s victory for granted.
Astarte untied the leather straps that were wrapped around her body and there was a stonemason’s tool hanging from the straps.
As Astadair grabbed the leather strap and swung it over his head like a sling the spirits hanging from the leather strap broke free and flew towards Azadin.
There were still many onlookers but Astarte attacked them indiscriminately regardless of whether or not it caused any damage.
“this!”
Jibek left the flying iron spears to Azadin while he used his shield to catch the iron spears flying at the nearby onlookers.
Since it was obvious that it would break through if he simply blocked it he used an angle to receive it and bounced the iron spike into the sky. The force applied to the iron spike was so strong that Jibek’s knees buckled and his boots slid off the ground.
‘Ugh!?’
Selim stepped forward and struck down the flying iron spear towards Azadin’s hippogryph Fire Winter with his axe.
Selim’s axe was bent the handle broke and Selim was covered in blood.
“Ugh!”
Azadin simply avoided the iron fist and smiled bitterly.
“Do you not care at all about civilian casualties?”
“Those who listen to your nonsense are heretics. Azadin! They are dying because of you.”
Astarte said and swung the leather strap in the air again.
The iron nails that were clearly tied to leather straps were just thrown?
But new iron balls are flying in again.
‘This can’t be happening.’
Jibek was shocked to see the iron spike he had just blocked with his shield disappear into thin air.
So it seems that the iron bullet that Astaroth emits flies away attacks the target and then returns to the leather strap.
Are there any weapons that can be thrown infinitely each with such great power?
‘But the accuracy is low.’
Azadin flinched as he tried to dodge the iron arrows flying at him.
This was because the iron spear which had been flying in a straight line changed direction in the air and chased after Azadin.
The first throw was just a straight line and the second was a tracking throw deliberately making the opponent let their guard down.
The initial less precise attack was a ploy to lull Azadin into a state of carelessness.
“town!”
Azadin held Aurelia Dawn the holy sword of Sir Planck short like a bayonet with both hands and slashed away the flying iron spikes.
-Thud!
As the soft ceramite blade exploded sparks flew in all directions like sparks flying from a hot iron.
The ceramite sword shattered as if in an explosion.
‘Did you get hurt?’
Karna who was watching this fight had sweaty palms.
Should we really call him the Inquisitor?
Astarte’s fighting power is incredible.
As the former King of Tarasar he carried out fearsome attacks befitting his title of Inquisitor.
Even though it is a soft ceramite longsword it can continuously attack with such force that the metal sword explodes.
Each and every shot of the iron fist is so powerful that it reminds one of a cannonball.
If that iron fist had been pointed at him would he have survived?
Astarte’s attack made even Karna who was watching sweaty palms.
