    #387. Winter Entrance 7

Prince Ghislain clicked his tongue after hearing the scouts’ report.

Last night Count Azadin’s army bypassed the wide plains and went behind Prince Ghislain’s army.

While Prince Ghislain’s men were shivering and unable to move due to the blizzard Count Azadin bypassed them and subdued the supply unit in the rear.

Prince Gislain’s army now has only enough supplies left for one day.

The staff was in an uproar.

Let’s just say it was a coincidence that a sudden snowstorm blew in where Prince Ghislain was but Coxhal was still in the warm breeze.

If Prince Gislain’s army had not expected to be caught in a blizzard it would have been impossible to bypass them in this plain and strike at their rear supply units.

Could it be that Count Azadin can freely change the area protected by the light of the King’s Flower?

I couldn’t help but wonder that.

    And the question was clear:

Count Azadin is the true king chosen by the throne of Banling.

    That’s not all.

If Count Azadin can manipulate the light of the King’s Flower so freely what will become of the Yaegas Kings who have not been able to do so until now?

‘Fake kings who were born to good parents and just sat on the throne…’

Such an impious thought passed through everyone’s mind. Even Prince Ghislain found himself contemplating such an impious thought.

So Prince Ghislain lost his composure.

He could not tolerate the presence of Azadin who made him a descendant of the Yaegas have such horribly blasphemous thoughts that he should not have harbored.

    “Nonsense. Nonsense!”

    “Your Majesty…..”

“Count Azadin’s army currently deployed in the rear is not that big. Most of them have been bolstered by accepting refugees so there are few mobile units! Count Azadin is probably over there!”

Prince Ghislain saw right through Count Azadin’s army’s problems.

The cavalry with mobility were very few. They were able to attack the supply unit in the rear by making a flanking maneuver with the small number of cavalry but in order to carry out such a maneuver the commander Count Azadin would have personally joined a small number of cavalry and moved.

“Since the only ones who commanded cavalry in Count Azadin’s army were Count Ivechek and his retinue isn’t it possible that Count Ivechek and not Count Azadin is the commander of that cavalry?”

“Even so Count Ivechek is the master of Sandokar. It is a great achievement to capture him. Pursue that cavalry! Don’t let them return to the main force!”

Prince Ghislain gathered his mobile men and elite Arangian guards and immediately began to pursue the cavalry.

    *********

Azadin was slowly and leisurely returning from clearing out Prince Ghislain’s supply unit.

“Take your time. Go back without wasting any energy.”

Count Ivechek asked anxiously “Let’s go back slowly so as not to exhaust the horse’s stamina.”

“Wouldn’t it be better to return to the main force quickly? We currently have very few troops so it would be dangerous if we met the Arangi Kingdom army. With the strength of our knights they would be no match for the Arangi Kingdom army of the same number and we would be defeated by half of them.”

As Count Sandokar he knew very well how elite the Arangi Kingdom’s military was.

Even if we have twice as many enemies it’s still difficult. It’s shameful for a knight to say such a thing… Ivecheck said so coldly.

Nevertheless Azadin moved slowly as if he were expecting a pursuer to catch up.

“I said it’s okay. Can’t you trust me and follow me sometimes?”

“Of course I trust you Count but I have my own experience with how battles turn out so shouldn’t I give you some advice?”

As Count Evecheck spoke Azadin flinched as if he sensed something.

    “Ah. There’s a pursuit party.”

“Yes? You said it was okay? How is it okay that there is a pursuit team right now?”

    “That’s it…..”

    Azadin shrugged.

After a while the cavalry of the Arangi Kingdom also caught Count Ivechek’s eye.

The horses and knights who were almost as sick as the previous night’s snowstorm were pursuing them in a forced manner. Compared to the stamina of our side the enemy cavalry who were exhausted from the forced march and cold wave looked just like a group of beggars.

‘Was yesterday’s blizzard that bad? That’s surprising. It was bearable cold for us but they’re in a state of near-death.’

Count Evecheck remembered that they had not felt any cold in their quarters and realized anew why Azadin was so confident.

Azadin was truly free to manipulate the light of the King’s Flower.

    “Oh…..”

It was not only Count Ivechek who realized this fact. Cheers also erupted among the few knights of Count Ivechek who had been half-believing and half-doubting.

Even though we are being pursued by the enemy we are still maintaining our stamina while they are lying limp like wet laundry.

“Okay now let’s use all our remaining stamina. Let’s run!”

    “yes?”

    “Return in an orderly manner!”

Azadin seemed to have been waiting for the pursuers and as soon as they appeared he began to increase the speed of his formation.

    *********

Prince Ghislain felt the difference keenly the moment he discovered Count Azadin’s army.

While Prince Ghislain’s army suffered from the cold from last night’s blizzard they are clean.

The Sandokkar cavalry is still strong despite having plundered the Arangi Kingdom army and supply units which were exhausted from the blizzard and forced march.

The light of the king’s crown was a clear contrast that showed who was on his side.

‘Is this the difference between those who receive the protection of the light of the king and those who do not? Fortunately their numbers are small.’

Prince Ghislain felt a sense of relief when he realized that Count Azadin’s cavalry was outnumbered.

But the staff grabbed the hem of Prince Ghislain’s cloak.

“Your Majesty the enemy is aware of our approach.”

“That’s right. He must have used foresight magic.”

Prince Ghislain also used his foresight magic to find Count Azadin’s cavalry from the sky.

The enemy would naturally be able to use the magic of foresight and it was natural that they would be easily discovered in this flat area with little cover.

“Our troops are exhausted and the enemy is in good condition so it’s dangerous. Here we should wait until the main force arrives or withdraw the troops to the rear.”

“If you do something like that you will be branded a failure by your father. It would be a waste of time to reunite with the main force.”

    “However….”

“Even though we are more tired… we are the more elite soldiers! Charge!”

Prince Ghislain who had finally managed to capture the enemy’s rear became enraged by his staff’s words telling him to give up and declared a charge.

Of course Prince Ghislain is by no means a fool.

He knew very well that his staff was a hundred percent right. But yesterday’s victory and the enemy’s commander-in-chief’s presence before his eyes clouded his vision.

And doesn’t he have an Arangian Guard too!?

Prince Ghislain grabbed the spear and started running leading the way himself.

But Count Azadin and his men begin to escape.

As if taking medicine I got away from them but their horses were not affected by the cold wave and had some stamina left.

    “shit!”

Prince Ghislain felt his heart burn as he looked at the sight. If he fails to capture Azadin it will be a great disaster for the entire kingdom.

It must not be known to the whole world that a soulless blasphemous king-slayer and unforgivable foreigner has been chosen to the throne and is handling the light of the king’s fire!

If we do not arrest and kill him right here and now his unholy teachings will spread throughout the world!

Prince Ghislain cast a spell of vitality on all of his troops and began to pursue Count Azadin.

    *********

“You are Prince Ghislain. To use all the vitality spells against that number of people is truly remarkable.”

Count Evecheck recognized the prince of Arangi Gislain who had been pursuing them at the forefront of the enemy forces.

It is obvious that the opponent’s horse is tired so he casts a magic spell of vitality and instantly increases his speed to chase after him.

Just chasing after a teammate with full stamina was an impressive feat.

“Yes. Is Prince Ghislain the author?”

Azadin also kept an eye on Prince Ghislain.

Prince Ghislain and his cavalry formed a small formation and charged forward like a wedge.

The goal is a frontal breakthrough.

There is a hint of greed to quickly capture Azadin and end this battle.

    “Saseonjin!”

    “yes!”

At the signal of Count Ivechek who heard Azadin’s order the cavalry formed a diagonal line and formed an advanced formation.

It is a formation that is good for absorbing the shock of young people and slipping.

‘It’s a standard reaction but isn’t this a reckless formation against the Arangi Kingdom’s army? If you think about it this is also Count Azadin’s first proper battle….’

Count Ivechek suspected that Azadin was simply repeating the same mistakes that a novice general would make.

    however….

    “Then let’s run. Firewinter!”

Azadin leapt out from the vanguard aboard his hippogriff Fire Winter.

It is a blatant act of inducing enemies.

Normally he wouldn’t take this bait but… Prince Ghislain wanted to catch Azadin and win by any means necessary.

The winner of the previous day’s battle was Prince Ghislain but he wanted to turn the situation around in one blow by learning that Azadin was wielding the Light of the King’s Flower and by dealing with the crippled troops who were devastated by the cold wave and snowstorm.

Since we have to catch Azadin somehow we can’t help but be lured by Azadin himself throwing himself out as bait.

“Ignore the others! Charge at that hippogriff and don’t let him get up!”

Prince Ghislain takes the lead and charges directly at Azadin.

As the young Jin focused on Azadin the flanks of the Arangi cavalry were naturally exposed to Count Ivechek’s cavalry.

    “Now is the time!”

Under the command of Count Ivechek Sandokar’s cavalry formed an oblique formation and attacked the flank of the Arangi Kingdom army which had formed a young formation.

The Arangi Kingdom army and Count Ivechek’s knights clashed on the frontal flank.

    and….

    “Ugh!”

    “Eww!”

Count Ivechek’s knights fell from their horses.

    “….”

The Arangi cavalrymen exhausted from the blizzard and dying withstood the charge of Count Ivechek’s knights on the left side of the shield-raising side.

It is good for defense when attacked from the left side while holding the shield but it is difficult to counterattack when facing an enemy from the side while riding a horse.

In this case it is difficult to deal with even if you receive it with your shield. In a frontal cavalry battle on the side you will usually be trampled unilaterally.

But the Arangians twisted their shields to deflect the incoming weapons planted their feet on one of their spurs and lightly turned their bodies to counterattack with terrifying force.

This side was hit by the opponent’s flank and the knights fell off their horses one-sidedly.

    Azadin questioned Count Ivechek.

“The opponent was hit in the side right before he died and yet this is how much he lost? Even twice as much would be impossible.”
