#379. Two Prophets 3
“Are you really going to let me go with that?”
Sram was half in doubt.
After rushing at Azadin and breaking down I thought about it and realized that he was right.
From the perspective of Prince Sram he has to confirm the book called the New Testament Declaration and report it to his superiors.
“Prince Sram. Since you are a prince you can read and write right?”
“What? This kid!”
“Okay then. Let’s do it.”
“Are you desperate?”
“This New Testament Declaration has only been produced for a short time so I do not have many copies. I am giving you the one I am giving you to read and submit as a report to the Arangi royal family. In return you should copy three copies and give them to me.”
“Are you telling me to copy heretical books with my own hands? To join you in your madness?”
If this were an ordinary book it would not be difficult to transcribe a long letter into three copies.
However this is a heretical book. If you copy and distribute a heretical book you are committing a serious religious sin.
The King’s Church would not look kindly upon Prince Sram.
Ultimately this could become a blackmail material that would shake the legitimacy and honor of Prince Sram.
“Yeah. Those are the conditions for liberation. If you don’t like it you’ll just have to get caught and have a ransom deal.”
“You ungrateful bastard! The Arangi royal family gave you the title of Margrave but I a member of the Arangi royal family….”
“You have to understand that since he came at me with a sword first I can’t do anything about it. Who told you to come at me like that? I tried to talk nicely but you came at me for no reason and the situation got worse. I owe a favor to the Arangi Kingdom so I’d like to let you go if possible but if I let the guy who pointed a sword at me go I won’t be a good example to my soldiers. I’ll have to collect a ransom so I can use that to grease the throats of my men. If you’re a prince you’ll understand my position right?”
Azadin explained his circumstances to Prince Sram.
That is absolutely true.
‘Ugh. This kid. Even if it were me I couldn’t just forgive a guy who attacked me. If I received the ransom I’d buy him a drink. But I’m the hostage so I shouldn’t be fooled by this guy’s words right?’
“So what’s the answer?”
“I would rather be arrested than copy down heretical teachings!”
“Yes yes. This is royalty without the worry of death right? The ransom must be a lot. It must be nice to be royalty.”
“This bastard! I’m not a royal who’s doing so well. I have brothers above and below me so my price is….”
“What’s the ransom?”

“I hope you don’t call me too often.”
Although his circumstances were not very good Prince Sram chose to become a hostage rather than become an enemy.
The Arangian guards were forced to watch with bated breath as Prince Sram was taken hostage.
*********
“Oh you crazy bastard. I’m really crazy. I’m a prince but I’m on the same boat as this crazy bastard.”
Prince Kalintz Chapter Master of Fireglyph the capital of the Chadra Plateau was burning inside.
In front of him was a copy of the New Testament Declaration written by Azadin.
“What are you going to do? There’s chaos in the Rescue Knights and in Assander.”
The commander of the Northern Aragasa Zan asked.
One of Prince Kalintz’s missions was to watch over and control Azadin. However it was obvious to anyone that Prince Kalintz was unable to control Azadin.
However no one blamed Prince Kalintz for his incompetence.
Because no matter who sees it Azadin is a special being.
He was from the messenger clan conquered the Chadra Plateau succeeded Sandhokar Naisandhokar and was given the title of Count of Arangi Kingdom.
And I also completed the Erantry quest albeit half-assed…
To accuse Prince Calintz of failing to restrain him was merely an accusation for the sake of an accusation.
The question now was Prince Calintz’s choice.
“It’s a really good situation to be backtracking.”
“Are you crazy? Most of the military power is held by Azadin. If I were to hit Azadin on the back of the head with just the Fire Guards of Fireglyph my head would be cut off alive. That bastard and the Chadra Ogels are no joke! And there are more than a few Azadin followers among the Fire Guards.”
Prince Kalintz was originally a man who was confident in his own skills but when he saw Azadin he couldn’t help but feel the difference in their level.
If we attack now we can force Azadin’s expeditionary force to withdraw but what about after they do?
Die without moving.
Moreover there were many people among the Fire Guard who supported Azadin so if you trusted them and attacked Azadin from behind you could be purged by your subordinates.
“Then will you remain loyal to Count Azadin without turning your back?”
“Loyalty is something that makes me his superior. Not yet…”
“I see. Wow. Your subordinate has hurled curses in front of the King’s church published heretical books and claimed to be a prophet. His superior Prince Kalintz is truly walking the path of a tyrant.”
Jeanne teased Prince Calintz.
“Oh wow. Is this someone else’s business? Don’t make fun of me. No matter what isn’t this too much? Openly publishing heretical books?”
He of course read this New Testament declaration.
Azadin declared that the source of the light of the King’s Flower is not the throne but the mission to protect all the people and that the reason the King’s Church has lost the light of the King’s Flower and become weaker up until now is because they have been obsessed with the throne and bloodline and have distanced themselves from their mission.
By keeping the mission the light of the King’s Flower will return. And when that happens the light of the King’s Flower will no longer be bound by the tangible relic of the throne nor by the legacy of the Yaegas bloodline.
That is the core of the New Testament Declaration.
It was full of truly upright and heart-wrenching remarks.
The problem of course is that this isn’t the first time.
“How come this kid is a Suyang School? He transplanted the teachings of the Suyang School of the Knights Templar into the King’s Church. There’s no way the King’s Church would tolerate something that undermines the authority of the royal family and nobles. Aren’t you openly cursing that you are incompetent and corrupt that the light of the King’s flower has gone out and that the world is in this state?”
“Isn’t that true?”
Zan answered calmly.
From his perspective which had no respect for the King’s Church this New Testament declaration was absolutely correct.

“Right and wrong don’t matter! If the right words were effective the Suyang School would have taken control of the entire Salvation Knights! What’s more they’re dealing with the King’s Church! They even hunted down the Emperor’s followers as heretics so how can we just ignore this?”
The Emperor’s followers who acknowledged the authority of the Yaegasu clan’s bloodline also punished the King’s Church. The Emperor’s followers’ core theory was that there were too many royal nobles who did not meet the standards of the King’s Church and this was a heresy that the King’s Church could not tolerate.
Azadin’s declaration of the New Testament was even more radical than that of the emperor’s followers.
“So. What’s the reaction? Oh well most people are ignorant so even if I spread this there won’t be a reaction but the people involved must have seen it right? What are the reactions of other people?”
“Well this area was originally favorable to Count Azadin so everyone seemed to like it. The Chadra Ogul guys were thrilled. They were stuck in the countryside and when Count Azadin came they had a good time. Count Azadin is not the type to enjoy pleasures or have strong selfish desires so I wondered if he would really go all the way but he showed such great ambition so I was really happy.”
“No even if those guys like Chadra Ogel do you think other people like them too? The Suyang School?”
The public perception of the Knights Templar was that they were a bunch of show-off eunuchs.
But why is this New Testament Declaration by Azadin which directly transplanted the teachings of the Suyang School so popular among the people?
“Is it because Azadin is handsome?”
“Hey how can something like that work? Just reading the text? To be exact no one is interested in the Suyang School part.”
“Really?! Then what do you like?”
“It was a miraculous experience.”
“miracle”
“Yes. I like the part where he meets the spirits of Yaegas. It’s a story of miracles. The nobles have been praising Count Azadin’s miracles so even if he says he’s encountered a miracle the people will find it very reasonable. Maybe his previous antics were a stepping stone to this.”
The New Testament also contains an account of Azadin’s experience of meeting the spirit of Yaegas and the people all liked this passage.
Although the descendants of King Yaegasu had not been very good the public basically loved miracles heroic tales and strange events.
The person who met the spirit of Yaegasu and received revelations is actually a person who performed all sorts of miracle-like things? The public cannot help but be confused.
The scary thing about Azadin’s New Testament Declaration was that it included the best of both worlds so that the knowledgeable would be drawn to the teachings of the Suyang school and the unknowing would be drawn to miracles and revelations.
“That’s a bit too far-fetched. He was just a weird guy to begin with. It was just by chance that he achieved success after success that he developed his current reputation.”
“Isn’t that even more amazing? Even if it’s a coincidence if you keep succeeding like that it’s inevitable and a miracle.”
“But how do you know the reaction of the common people?”
“I gathered the scribes and copyists and had them transcribe it. While I was transcribing it my friends who read it were all amazed.”
“What? Hey. You crazy bastard. Even though you’re a northern Aragasara you spent money to do this?”
“Aren’t you going to have to send it out as a report anyway? You’ll probably need it too.”
“Hey this is a heretical book! The King’s Church will be in trouble just for spreading it.”
“Isn’t it too late for the King’s Church to be making a fuss? Honestly.”
“….”
Indeed the King’s Church has been weak lately. It has been unable to take the initiative in responding to the changes occurring all over the world and has been dragged along.
On the other hand the Salvation Knights were gaining attention as the Celestial Fire Knights and were raising their reputation by successfully solving the Banreung Kingdom incident.
So as a last resort the King’s Church clung to the Northern Qi and gave it the childish title of King of Kings.
“The time has come for you to choose a side Prince. Have you made up your mind?”
“Hmm. That’s right.”
“Where did you decide to go?”
“No originally I chose Count Azadin. I have nothing to lose but my pitiful life and much to gain.”
“…….”
“But I’m a bit skeptical about following Azadin because he’s doing such crazy things. I only have a little to gain but I have my precious life to lose.”
“What I told you earlier contradicts what I said.”
Jeanne burst into laughter at Prince Calintz’s words.
