#367. Call of the Throne 5

Everyone’s eyes were focused on the alley where the arrow had come from.

    Another golden arrow flies in.

    -Firestorm!

Griselda knew that she could not stop the arrow with her blood magic so she cast the red magic she had learned from the dwarves.

As the gust of flame hit the arrow the magical power contained in the arrow was canceled out and it fell to the ground.

‘Good. I’m ashamed of using dwarven magic but now is not the time to hide it. Considering the volume of the arrows I shot first and just shot they are not enough to make a warsword. Then there must be one more shot left.’

Griselda secretly cheered as she saw the red magic working properly.

Aurelia Dawn’s shock and fear to the vampires was so great that even she was unable to come to her senses but she had various talents beyond just blood magic.

This time the arrows are flying.

Griselda immediately intercepted the arrow with her dwarven magic.

This arrow was a normal steel arrow and it shattered as soon as it hit the magic.

“…Don’t play around with me Count Azadin! There must be another arrow made of Aurelia Dunn. Do you think I would fall for such childish tricks?”

Griselda said so and cast a spell towards the corner where Azadin was likely to be.

Although it is not visible from Griselda’s side even if it is a blind magic it has tremendous power in the narrow hallway.

In addition there are magic stones scattered all over the hallways here so if a magic stone were to detonate a huge explosion would occur.

    indeed….

A huge explosion occurred across the hallway.

“Ahahaha. You trusted Aurelia Dunn too much. What an idiot!”

Griselda burst into laughter confident of victory. Even if they were a herald clan they would not be unharmed if they were hit by a magic stone.

Finally I caught the cocky Azadin’s tail. I was so happy.

    -Pfft!

A wooden stake protruded from Griselda’s chest.

    “…no?!”

One of Griselda’s daughters stabbed a stake into her back.

    “Ugh?! You you?!”

“As expected you can’t tell your daughters apart. That’s because you’ve been covered in some blood magic.”

Niselda who had hidden her scent with Bernard’s black magic had mixed in with Griselda’s daughters and approached her stealthily.

Griselda didn’t even realize it and was only focused on Azadin in front of her which resulted in her being stabbed in the back.

    “You you dare!?”

Griselda’s other daughters and vampires were furious and launched a fierce attack on Niselda.

Niselda held out fending off attacks with two side swords.

Even though she was only focused on defense there were so many vampires attacking her that she was wounded here and there but in order to protect her a spell was cast from the rear in the direction that the dwarf guard captain Iak had run from.

    -Poisonous blood landowner blood clot!

Blood spears fly out and aim for the vampires.

It wasn’t a very fast spear so everyone was able to dodge it but the spear that fell to the ground exploded and turned into a small bloody spider.

Taking advantage of the gap Niselda quickly escaped.

“Ugh! These guys dare set a trap for me?”

Griselda pulled out the stake from her chest and threw it down in anger.

“And you dare to cast blood magic in front of me?!”

Griselda immediately intervened with her blood magic and took control of the blood spiders. Bernard was using blood magic with the help of Asajit’s Eye but Griselda was several steps ahead in terms of the sophistication of her blood magic.

Even if you have the Eye of Ashajit the skills of a skilled magician can exert more power than that. Griselda instantly took control of the Blood Spider and gave orders to her subordinates.

    “Catch that guy!”

Niselda was not called Niselda for all her daughters were also named Niselda.

But then a third golden arrow flew.

    “I knew it!”

At the same time Griselda cast a fire whirlwind spell.

He had prepared the Flame Gust magic in advance thinking that if he were Azadin he would attack right away at this moment.

“Did you think this kind of trick would work forever?!”

    “Uh. But?”

    “what?”

At that moment Griselda realized that another arrow had landed at her feet.

It was a worthless iron-tipped arrow that I had overlooked because I was so focused on Aurelia Dunn’s golden arrow.

It’s not a steel arrow it’s an iron-tipped arrow. It’s a pathetic arrow that often gets blocked even if you’re wearing thick cotton clothing.

However the arrow was imbued with powerful magic and struck one of the spiders at her feet.

Surprisingly this blood spider had a magic stone embedded in its body.

    “…ah?!”

A blood spider that has already been taken over by Griselda but cannot walk on its own legs because the magic stone it holds in its body is too heavy.

In other words it is a spider that has no choice but to set itself in the same place it first flew in on the blood spear.

-Flowers birds wind moon and a hundred cranes!

Colorless magic exploded and covered Griselda.

Griselda’s body was thrown into the sky crashed into the ceiling and then fell to the ground.

And only then did Azadin and Zibek appear.

Zibek destroyed all the blood spiders that had fallen under Griselda’s control with the magic of the Holy Mace.

Azadin then rushed in and cut off Griselda’s legs with a Qing executioner’s hammer and drove another stake into her chest.

    “Whoa?!”

The other vampires turned and started to run away even though Griselda was in danger.

“Master of Aurelia Dunn! It’s Count Azadin!”

    “I have to run away!”

Although they were vampires who called Griselda their mother they were not so devoted(?) as to risk burning Aurelia Dawn.

Bernard and Niselda were on their way but they all gave up the fight and fled.

In the end only Griselda remained.

“Wouldn’t it be the best revenge to take the life and soldiers of my enemy into my own hands? Rather than simply killing him.”

    “I agree Count.”

    Niselda nodded happily.

But then again a pale power pulses from where the throne is.

The corpses of fallen vampires squirm blood vessels bulging through their skin.

Vampires and corpses began to transform into Ashajit’s followers.

“…The Lord of the Throne has become completely corrupt.”

Azadin made a stake from the sap he had collected from Grimsloan’s club and drove it back into Griselda’s lower abdomen.

Griselda whose heart lower abdomen and thigh were pierced with a stake trembled in pain anger and shame.

    “You bastards! Kill me!”

“What did the Kingdom of Banreung plan to do? What was the ultimate purpose of the wish magic used by the dwarves?”

Niselda thrust her sword at Griselda and questioned her but Griselda only laughed.

“Haha. You think I’m a fool. Do you think I’m going to say that now? Count Azadin you can defeat me but you can’t make me submit!”

“Is that so? The Dwarf King has abandoned you and yet you remain loyal to him?”

    “what?”

Griselda bristled at the question of whether she was loyal to the Dwarf King.

“I had Bernard and Niselda as my subordinates so I was able to subdue you but honestly I respect you as an enemy. Griselda. You are beautiful and ambitious. But the only reason I was able to win was because I inherited Aurelia Dawn and that is too fatal for vampires right? If we had met in different relationships and different positions we might not have become enemies.”

“Ha. Don’t make me laugh. You bastard…”

“I am sincere. I have provoked you all this time not because I am sincere but because I wanted to disturb your composure as you are an enemy that cannot be ignored. It was to repay Bernard and Niselda’s devotion. Even though we have become enemies I want to respect you until the end as an enemy.”

    “…….”

“Tell me about the Dwarf King’s ambition. You have nothing left to lose. The Dwarf King and I are enemies to you. So wouldn’t it be better to give strength to the enemy who is a little less numerous and weaker and induce the two to fight?”

“If the Dwarf King and his men capture and kill you I might have a chance to escape.”

“Do you think Niselda and Bernard would tolerate that? And above all I…”

Azadin pulled Aurelia Dunn out of her scabbard. That alone startled Griselda who had been feeling so proud.

“I will not let you go alive because I recognize that you are too dangerous to be considered an enemy.”

“Huh? You call that persuasion now?”

“I can’t hand over the life of a deadly Queen of the Night like you to those dwarves.”

    “….”

    “….”

Griselda’s and Azadin’s group’s expressions hardened as they listened to the story.

‘Wow. How can you tell such a shameless lie?’

    Edir was secretly impressed.

    ‘How scary. The messenger clan.’

‘You can say that because you are a messenger?’

‘It’s acting right? It’s acting right?’

Zibek and Niselda Bernard also grew tired of seeing Azadin speak with such a sincere expression without any smile.

Everyone felt fear at Azadin’s words which seemed to genuinely pity Griselda’s beauty and ambition.

“Well you’re a bit cuter than Manawidan.”

Griselda was taken in by Azadin’s words. She was not without her suspicions about Azadin but when she thought about it calmly she realized that there was no way she could survive here on her own.

At least Azadin won’t torture you while you’re talking about the Dwarf King as long as you speak respectfully.

And there is some truth to what Azadin said.

If both are enemies anyway it is better to provide information to the one with fewer numbers and induce them to destroy each other.

“What kind of wish spell did the dwarves use? What did they wish for?”

“To merge with the Yaegasu gods and become a race superior to them.”

“What is superiority? What defines superiority?”

The magic of wishes is an incredibly advanced magic that we may or may not know exists.

But apart from that the magic of wishes that appears in countless folktales and fairy tales can turn into terrible destruction if the term is simply misdefined.

Isn’t the term ‘becoming a superior being’ a wish that is too open to misinterpretation?

But Griselda’s answer was too concise.

    “Tall!”

    “…….”
