Night of the Soulless Heathens – 365

#365. Call of the Throne 3
“…here.”
Wendigo’s followers were created from the bodies of the wounded and the dead.
Trampling on the corpse of someone who has not been buried can cause suffering to the soul of the deceased and even turning a wounded person who is not dead into a member of your household is a serious crime.
As the battle situation becomes more favorable thanks to the Wendigo’s followers the sins of the Knights Templar also become more apparent.
‘It won’t work. I’ll stop talking to Lord Karna…’
But just as Izmila was thinking that.
-Rampant lightning!
The dwarf sorcerer cast a spell.
The Wendigo’s followers have strong magical powers so they wouldn’t be much of a threat let alone their large size.
What good will that magic do if it’s effective at inflicting pain but not enough to stop a rampaging monster?
The question was soon answered.
In the dwarf defense line in addition to Ashajit’s followers there were goblins wearing slave shackles and the lightning struck them.
-Pants!
The slave goblins had hidden valuable magic stones and when lightning struck one of them it amplified the lightning and created an electric storm.
A dazzling light exploded in all directions.
“Whoa!”
Izmila was also thrown backwards unable to come to her senses due to the storm of light.
The Wendigo’s followers Ashajit’s followers and of course the slave goblins that had carried the magic stone were torn to pieces and the hallways were filled with the stench of burning flesh electrified.
“Now is the time!”
“All fire simultaneously!”
The dwarves began firing in unison.
The matchlock gun fired and made a loud noise.
Izmila collapsed bleeding.
“Izmila!”
The dwarves opened fire again as the other Celestial Fire companions pulled her from the ground.

The musketeers in the front line fall back and in the gap the second line of musketeers fires simultaneously. Then the third line opens fire again.
Many soldiers were killed by the dwarves’ barrage of fire.
however….
-Krrrrrr!
Among the dead soldiers new Wendigo followers appeared.
The souls of those who died immediately were bound to their bodies and they were immediately turned into the Nether’s servants.
“Lord Karna!”
Izmila screamed as she watched the soldiers become Wendigo’s servants with her faint vision returning.
Before there was an excuse that the Nether relic was out of control and went berserk turning people into servants.
But the current mutation feels like it has human will.
It was chosen by Karna and Triodana the sons of the Northern Emperor.
I will fight for glory in this war even if it means turning humans into servants of the Nether!
“What do you want me to do!”
Karna’s answer was heard.
Karna and the other Celestial Knights who had arrived from the rear as reinforcements pulled out the injured Celestial Knights and recovered them while the others were turned into Wendigo followers and rushed forward.
“Ugh.”
Even though Izmila was wounded she couldn’t just sit still and watch the scene.
“Lord Karna! These people have not even been buried yet! What if their souls are bound to that cold Netherstrom? Even death will not save them!”
A corpse that has not been given a funeral can still have a soul that has not yet been reincarnated and so can suffer.
Converting them to the Nether’s vassals is tantamount to casting their souls into the Nether’s abyss.
“You’re hurt Sir Izmilla! Get back to the rear and rest!”
“Lord Karna!”
“I must protect the Celestials! That’s the Order! The mission my father gave me! Can’t we afford to pay for such an obvious trap with our own blood?”
Karna declared so.
If we push the Celestials into the dwarves’ defensive line which is no different from a trap the damage will be too great so we will put in the Wendigo’s followers.
That in itself is a reasonable judgment.
But isn’t that Wendigo’s retinue made up of humans not Celestials?
It’s okay to sacrifice humans to protect the Celestials.
Karna was saying just that.
*********
“Nonsense! Me! If I were to be beaten by Sok wouldn’t I know it? But by this bloody bloody messenger!”
Griselda had run away from Azadin twice and was in a state of utterly damaged pride.
“If you think about it… it’s because of that damn Aurelia Dunn!”
Aurelia Dawn The Sword of the Sun which exerts absolute power against vampires. Even a simple touch on Azadin who holds it will cause fatal injuries.
“You should deal with something other than vampires! It would be foolish to deal with them myself!”
Fortunately the Kingdom of Banreung had been hers for a long time.
The power of Banreung had long ago belonged to the Manawidan who were addicted to the pleasures she provided and this Manawidan had a royal guard made up of Dwarf Musketeers and Dwarf Blunderbusters.

We must use the Dwarf Royal Guard and Ashajit’s followers to steal Ashajit’s eyes from Azadin.
however…
“uh?”
Griselda and the vampires were startled.
The throne hall where the quartz throne created by the Yaegas gods in Banreung is located has changed significantly.
Long blood vessels run along the floor and wall pillars wriggling and supplying blood.
And every time the quartz throne emits a pale light.
“Are you here Griselda?”
On the quartz throne sat Manawidan the king of the dwarves.
He was two heads taller than other dwarves and was by no means small even among humans. However his shoulders were even larger than that making him look like a dwarf statue scaled up to human size.
He was sitting on the throne welcoming Griselda.
“Your Majesty you are awake.”
-Kurururung….
The earth shakes and rocks rain down from the ceiling.
Every time the blood vessels tremble and light flickers on the throne and the body of the Mana-widan.
‘What happened? Didn’t they all die?’
When the magic of wishing was activated Manawidan the king of the dwarves collapsed in shock.
He wasn’t dead but he wouldn’t wake up in the future. That’s what I thought but somehow Manawidan was up and even handling the throne of Yaegas.
“It looks like you failed to get Asajit’s eyes back. I’m disappointed Griselda.”
Manawidan saw Griselda fleeing after being defeated by Azadin and criticized her.
“Your Majesty I am sorry but the opponent has the holy sword of Lord Planck. The blade will burn endlessly when it touches the vampires and it will be difficult for me to handle. I deserve to die a hundred times over due to my incompetence but I ask that you please consider my devotion and affection so far and lend me your guard.”
Griselda pleaded in a sorrowful voice.
It was Manawidan who put in special effort to bring in human beauties as concubines.
He was so busy courting Griselda that wouldn’t his cold gaze melt away if he heard her plea?
Despite such expectations Manawidan coldly rejected Griselda’s pleas as if he had changed people.
“Impossible. The Rescue Knights are destroying the fortress cannons at the heart of the mountain and rushing in.”
“yes?”
“Cohen Lionaire and the Rescue Knights have done some really fun things. The Celestial and the Wendigo… Those hypocrites who pretended to be noble on the outside have finally revealed their true colors.”
Manawidan smiled bitterly.
“I may be presumptuous but if that is the case shouldn’t we restore Ashajit’s eyes even faster?”
When Griselda asked the dwarf king Manawidan glared at her as if he were being shameless. Even Griselda who had been through a lot was startled by the cold gaze like an ice blade cutting through her heart and was so careful about her words and actions.
“Wasn’t it your job to repair that Griselda?”
“Yes. I am sorry. However the scar with the eyes of Ashajit holds a weapon that is deadly to vampires so it is forbidden in military strategy to hit the weak against the strong. Please take that into consideration…”
We need to deploy vampires on the side where the Rescue Knights are coming from and send elite dwarf units and Ashajit’s followers to Azadin’s group.
however….
“We have thought about it too. But is that Count Azadin of Naisandokhar? He has been avoiding the guards.”
“ah….”
The only one who can sense the exact location of Asajit’s eyes is Griselda a vampire. If anyone else tries to capture Azadin and his party they will simply dodge.
Azadin’s party is very small in number making it extremely difficult to find them in the heart of the mountain where caves and grottos wind and contain secret passages of all kinds.
The secret passages that the dwarves boasted about instead allowed Azadin and his party to pick and choose their pursuers.
“So I give you the military power….”
“No. We will mobilize all our capabilities and destroy the Rescue Knights first. Griselda! Your subordinates will also deal with the Rescue Knights!”
“But Your Majesty. The villain is targeting Your Majesty!”
“Khuh. Khuh khuh khuh.”
At that moment Manawidan burst into laughter.
“Do you think I’ll be affected by something as trivial as that?”
“Of course Your Majesty who is skilled in both civil and military affairs would be threatened by a soulless blasphemer. However Your Majesty has only just woken up so I wonder if there is anything wrong with your body….”
“Don’t worry. I’m stronger now than I’ve ever been.”
As Manawidan spoke the throne flashed with light again and pale power radiated in all directions.
Asajit’s followers and other vampires besides Griselda fell into a state of ecstasy the moment they received the power. Griselda also felt her body heating up but she was able to channel the power away because she controlled her body with blood magic.
“As expected you’re quite the talent Griselda. What a shame. That talent… Hmm. That’s enough talking. From now on you will be under the command of Captain Iak. Go.”
“….”
Griselda trembled in humiliation.
She was infamous throughout the world as a master of necromancy and blood magic along with Sok the leader of the Fimbul Horde.
Although she serves as a vassal of King Manawidan she was not originally loyal to the dwarven dynasty.
As she was just staying in Banreung she was the type that recognized the king’s authority but these dwarves were an arrogant people and treated her like a beggar who had come to beg.
‘You were so absorbed in the pleasures and delights I provided! What is this attitude you have now? You want to put me under the command of a dwarf soldier?’
Captain Iak of the Guard is a man who would gladly throw Griselda and her daughters into the water to save his own men.
It’s no different from being told to become a dart catcher and a sword catcher for the guards.
But the king had told him to step down so he couldn’t step down now. Even if he killed the king here he wouldn’t be able to take control of the Banreung Kingdom’s system.
The dwarves’ skills wealth and power are benefits she can only enjoy when she enjoys the king’s favor.
“I will obey your orders.”
Griselda rose from her seat chewing on the humiliation.
