    #358. Grim Reaper Runaway 2

“Are you okay? If you feel any discomfort please use blood magic…”

Bernard has been anxious to use blood magic since he got his hands on Asajit’s eye. He said there was not enough forage to feed his horses.

‘How about mixing some blood magic-made prophetic words into your feed? It might help reduce the consumption of maize beans and oats.’

    He presented an opinion called

    ‘That’s a bit….’

‘I don’t want to ride a vampire horse. Isn’t that turning me into a vampire?’

‘Isn’t that what comes out of Ashajit’s eyes? Isn’t that the blood of the Nether?’

‘Even if he is my father by bloodline please keep your common sense and manners in mind. I am ashamed as your daughter.’

For this reason even though I was stopped by everyone I still haven’t come to my senses.

“I’m just organizing the Shinwangjinseo. You don’t have to worry about it.”

    “Is that so?”

When Azadin mentioned the New King’s Book Bernard did not pursue the issue any further.

Azadin has acquired a copy of the Book of the New King which grants him the power of the New King and the right to claim the throne.

That fact must have been so hopeful to Bernard that he moved forward without fear even as the shadow of Ashajit loomed before his eyes and a fierce snowstorm raged.

    *********

Thanks to Bernard’s blood magic Azadin and his party entered the direct territory of the United Royal Family without much difficulty.

In front of me I could see the capital of the Banreung Kingdom the heart of the mountain. And along the seashore near the great mining city in the Banreung region there were fortresses with the flags of the Knights of the Rescue Order flying.

The elite of the Salvation Knights the Celestial Fire Knights had arrived.

“Hmm… I will release the blood magic. This magic will make us appear to those around us as the followers of the Blood God Ashajit.”

Bernard was surprised to find a fortress with the banner of the Celestial Fire Knights flying so he dispelled his blood magic.

Because if you’re not careful you might be mistaken for a sorcerer by the Celestial Fire Knights.

‘No he’s using blood magic so he’s a sorcerer.’

There was no need to do anything that would put me in an awkward position.

As the blood magic was released the fortress’s gate opened a moment later and Celestial Fire Knights on horseback approached Azadin’s carriage.

Two knights and four attendants rode up and surrounded Azadin’s carriage. Surprisingly the knight leading them was Sir Aramis whom I had seen before.

He was the captain of the detachment that was present when Azadin first encountered the Celestial Fire Knights as they set out for St. Mallory’s after receiving passage from Prince Calintz.

    “Huh? Sir Azadin?”

As he lifted the visor of his helmet the face of a young girl was revealed. The blonde blue-eyed beauty looked innocently at Azadin.

“Ah it’s been a long time Sir Aramis. Well it hasn’t been that long has it?”

    “What’s going on here? Here….”

“I received the Erantry quest. Rescue Bishop Akenar of Coxhal.”

“Ah. You mean the Erantry quest? I’m jealous.”

“Huh? Jealous? What do you mean by that?”

“You seem like the protagonist of a knightly tale from an old tale. I envy you. We don’t have much experience as apprentice knights but we’ve all become hospitalists.”

    “….”

Some people start out as apprentices and are given ridiculous missions while others become hospitalists simply because they were born Celestial.

Even though the Order blatantly discriminated against people based on their bloodline and birth Aramis envied Azadin.

Since they have lived a life full of kindness and without any twists and turns they may not understand what it means to be discriminated against and persecuted and may seem like they are just preparing for trials like heroes in old stories.

‘This kid… doesn’t have any malicious intent? Maybe Celestial’s reincarnation ritual failed and he became an adult in body but with a child’s mind?’

Azadin noticed that the Celestial Reincarnation Ritual had been continuously being revised and supplemented as he observed the condition of Sir Aramis.

“I would change it if I could.”

“Yes. I can’t handle it. Sir Azadin. Didn’t Sir Azadin conquer the Chadra Plateau?”

“And now I have been asked to be the guardian of Count Sandokar the Margrave of Naisandokar. Count Azadin you see.”

Zebeck was annoyed that Sir Aramis kept calling Azadin simply “Sir” so he made it clear that Azadin had become a count.

“Ah. So you’ve become Count Azadin. If it’s Naisandhokar and Sandhokar… isn’t that a vast land?”

“It’s just a wasteland with no crops to harvest and only a few more mouths to feed. It’s full of people who have run away from taxes and people who are like bandits who conform to drug trafficking organizations.”

“But it is a glorious thing.”

“Is there any information on Bishop Coxhal Akenar? What is the situation here with the Celestial Fire Knights?”

“Not good. There have been casualties.”

    “Warrior?”

“Yes. It’s embarrassing but up until now the Celestial Fire Knights have been solving missions in various places without a single knight dying even if their servants and soldiers died. Up until now we were able to deal with it with our own skills and the heavenly power we inherited from the angels. However in Banreung… there was a cannon.”

It seems that the Celestial Fire Knights as usual believed in their own abilities and the power given to them by their birth as Celestials and rushed in but were hit by Ban-Ryung’s firepower and suffered great losses.

When he spoke of Celestial’s death Azadin did not miss the darkening expressions on the faces of both Sir Aramis and the Celestial knights who were with him.

“Even the Arangian guards couldn’t capture Banreung.”

Azadin cited the example of the Arangian Guards. It was a subtle criticism of the Celestial Fire Knights for ignoring the lessons learned during the Syphilis War between the Kingdom of Arangi and Banrung.

‘It looks like you’ve been doing well with your innate angelic powers so far but now you’re struggling due to your lack of experience. This is really… Aren’t the upper echelons of the Celestial Fire Knights all sons of the Northern Emperor? They must have some military experience but why are they like this?’

Moreover I did not like the attitude of being relieved that there were no deaths of Celestials.

When Azadin first took action with the Celestial Fire Knights he took considerable casualties among his soldiers and servants when fighting against the Bree forces.

In order to raise the status of the Celestial Fire Knights the Rescue Knights selected elite troops from various places and provided them with them but the Celestial Fire Knights misused their troops and drove their servants and soldiers into danger.

Such sacrifices were not considered very important but now that they have occurred among the Celestials they are taking it seriously.

‘Is it a problem that guys who are polite to me are so twisted in their balls?’

Azadin smiled bitterly as he watched Aramis being polite to him.

“Oh no please come to our fortress.”

    “How is the fortress?”

“We attacked Nisraf with cannons and captured it and it is now our bridgehead. There are coastal batteries installed inside Banreung Harbor so if you go in even Nisraf will be in danger.”

    “Really? That’s good.”

    “yes?”

“No I was afraid that if I went in Nisraph would be in danger.”

Azadin was thankful that the Nisraff a time-honored relic of the Knights Templar had not been hit by Banling’s coastal batteries and sunk.

“That’s right! It’s a shame that we can’t leave behind a masterpiece like Nisraph for future generations. Fortunately it’s intact without a single scratch!”

Aramis was delighted and delighted to see Azadin cherishing Nisraph.

    “….”

    “Why are you doing that?”

    “Oh no that’s a bit.”

Azadin suddenly thought that Aramis was quite cute. Would this be how he would feel if he had a younger brother?

‘That guy Ismail wasn’t very cute.’

    Suddenly Ismail came to mind.

    *********

The coastal fortress controlled by the Celestial Fire Knights was the first coastal artillery fortress blocking the entrance to Banreung Harbor and was not a good place to station many soldiers.

However Celestial Fire mounted a cannon on Nisraph and silenced the fortress with it before unloading supplies and making a camp there.

Oddly enough soldiers and servants were stationed inside the fortress while knights stayed outside.

    “What is this?”

“Ah Celestials are less susceptible to the cold. We placed people inside to avoid the sea breeze.”

    “okay?”

Also seeing things like this it seems that the Celestials aren’t fundamentally bad. Knights usually don’t have the concept of giving up their comfortable positions for their subordinates or soldiers.

Azadin suddenly asked upon seeing that sight.

“What about the North Je Cohen Lioness?”

“Oh he is the guardian of our knights. He will provide us with supplies funds and weapons.”

As expected the members of the Celestial Fire Knights were friendly to the Northern Emperor.

But it doesn’t look like the Northern Emperor himself came here.

Then another Celestial Knight approached Azadin.

    It was Izmila.

“Sir Azadin! It’s so nice to see you here!”

    “Oh Sir Izmila.”

“What brings you here? Do you think you know we’re stuck and want to help us…?”

“Hmm. It’s because of the Erantry quest.”

    “Ah Erantry Quest!”

    Izmila was amazed.

“Wonderful. As expected of Sir Azadin.”

    “….”

Izmila also longed for the Erantry quest.

Not only her but other Celestials also admired Azadin.

    “Ah it’s Sir Azadin.”

“That guy? He’s handsome. He’s a lot younger than I thought.”

The curious gazes pouring in from all sides tickled Azadin’s skin. Everyone was looking at him with favor. Although Azadin was born to the Herald Clan most of the Celestial Fire Knights were blank slates born when their previous life consciousness was not yet complete.

Since they were indoctrinated with the pure ideology of the Knights Templar from a young age under the guidance of high-ranking priests they do not discriminate against Azadin and simply look at him with curiosity.

But there were also hostile gazes among them… These were the children of the Northern Qi who were born after their previous life consciousness had become relatively stable.

“Sir Azadin or rather Count Azadin the Margrave of Naisandhokar.”

Triodana and Karna walked out of the barracks. Karna the leader of the Celestial Fire and Triodana a Celestial of the Wisdom Order are twins who look almost the same except for their skin color.

Both are Celestials born after the consciousness of their previous lives stabilized in the latter half of the story. These two people who were created to project the will of the Northern Emperor onto the Knights of Salvation were wary of Azadin who had gained fame independently against the Northern Emperor’s wishes and formed a large force within the Knights of Salvation.

“Oh Sir Azadin is the Count?”

    “Where is Naisandokhar?”

Although it was a border region that had been abandoned by the Arangi Kingdom for those who do not know the geography well the fact that Azadin became a count is all that is important.

    “amazing!”

“It is a great honor for our Rescue Knights.”

The Celestial Knights were impressed by the fact that Azadin was a trainee knight of the Salvation Knights became a count and received the Erantry quest.

Isn’t this a true tale of a hero who achieved success through hard work?

‘No I didn’t expect this kind of reaction.’

Triodana was puzzled by the Celestials’ friendly reactions to Azadin.
