    #355. The King’s Prophecy 3

    Indim’s attack targets Azadin’s neck.

    -Boom!

But surprisingly Jibek jumped between the two and blocked Indim’s attack with his shield.

Indim flew up onto Xibek’s shield and tried to cut his neck with his dagger but Xibek caught the dagger with his helmet and deftly deflected the blade.

Niselda chases after Indim. Indim’s speed was truly incredible as expected of a top-tier messenger of the messenger clan but Niselda’s speed was also beyond human.

In addition Niselda an assassin from the Mercy Cult had swordsmanship similar to that of the Herald Clan so she was not easily defeated by Indim.

Even though Niselda took damage every time they clashed as a half-vampire she regenerated her wounds and clung tenaciously to Indim.

    “That’s amazing.”

    “You too.”

Dimia tried to protect Indim with magic but Bernard was blocking her magic with a counterspell.

But then Azadin lifted Aurelia Dunn up.

    -Divine intervention!

A dazzling white magical power penetrated everyone’s bodies.

It is a magic of mediation that forcibly releases a combat state and no one has ever experienced such a powerful and wide-ranging activation.

Indim and Niselda who had been running wild lost speed and staggered.

    “What…what is this?!”

    “oh my god.”

The magic of Dimia and Bernard which had been sharply intertwined and the bowstring of Zenith which had been aiming an arrow at Azadin had lost its elasticity and stretched.

    ‘The King’s Magic?!’

Everyone present was shocked that Azadin was using powerful divine magic that only a king could use.

Azadin who was actually the one who used the magic took a nonchalant attitude. Seeing that there were no side effects such as tiring out from using up a lot of magic power or getting hurt by the recoil it was clear that Azadin was destined to take over a throne right away.

“Okay stop. Stop doing useless things. Are you going to swing your knife at a joke?”

“You call that a joke… Are you kidding me you punk?”

“I think it was more plausible than the joke you told?”

Indim’s mouth was shut. Strictly speaking it was Azadin who gave the joke room but the more we delve into it the more it ends up poking Indim’s wounds at him.

Azadin who had silenced Indim with such shock therapy took advantage of the silence that had finally come and continued speaking.

“First of all I think everyone is misunderstanding this but I don’t hate power. Of course I think the human mind is made to not be able to handle power… but if necessary I don’t hesitate to seize power. That’s why I became a count.”

“If you really don’t hate power you wouldn’t be able to handle it like you do. You’re just desperate to grab it! Your words just now prove that you’re not fit to be in power!”

Indim spat at Azadin’s words and replied angrily.

“Ah that’s right. Just as you can’t become powerful by loving power there are those who can become powerful even without loving it. Look at me! Indim! I am the Margrave of Naisandokhar! And inside my body the Book of the New Kings that Arael and I collected lives! The Eye of Harconia proves that the Emperor’s blood is mixed in my veins and one of the holy swords of the Knights of the Salvation Order is in my hand! The prophecy that was handed down to Sir Planck of Wisdom is also in my possession.”

    “…….”

“As a rival of the Northern Qi I will demand the throne of the Emperor. The Northern Qi is a man who cannot be trusted!”

    “No then… why?”

If you were going to aim for the emperor’s position anyway why did you provoke Indim with such nonsense? Zenith and Dimia wondered.

“Because what I truly desire is not power! I want to create a world where wisdom courage mercy and justice are valued above the bloodline of a god or an angel! But if someone like me or the Northern Emperor becomes the emperor those teachings will fade and the worship of the bloodline of a god will continue. Someone needs to step up and lead this world and if I become that person I will end up destroying the ideals of the Knights of Salvation with my own hands.”

“Are you trying to create a paradise on earth? That’s impossible since all humans are bastards. You’re just running towards a goal that you can never reach.”

Indim argued that Azadin’s ideals were nothing more than an unattainable dream.

“A squirrel rolling on a wheel with no destination is better than a squirrel sitting still and getting fatter. And it’s certainly not meaningless. Just by existing independently the Northern Emperor will live with the awareness that there is an alternative to him. And if it really can’t be helped I have no choice but to eliminate the Northern Emperor and take the throne for myself.”

    “…….”

“That is truly an arrogant statement. Even though I am an excommunicated knight isn’t that an impious statement that gives me goosebumps just hearing it?”

    Jibek smiled hollowly.

From the perspective of a knight of the King’s Church Azadin’s words are not just blasphemous.

He spoke of the position of king or emperor as if it were a dirty but unavoidable burden.

Some people are burning their own souls to obtain it but Azadin the so-called soulless blasphemer treats it like trash.

“It’s an irreverent story but I like it so much that I think I’m really suited to being a journalist.”

“That’s crazy… They say the person who has no interest in power is the one who is most obsessed with power.”

Edir could not believe Azadin’s words.

‘A person who says he has no interest in power is crazy. He must have lied to the people around him that he has no interest in power so they let their guard down… But in the first place weren’t these people so dangerous that they stabbed Azadin when he said he would not aim for the emperor’s seat?’

Most of these people are people who sincerely want Azadin to aim for the emperor’s seat. Telling them that you have no interest in power? If it’s a trick isn’t it a really stupid trick?

‘You kid. Are you serious? Since there’s really no other option since the Northern Emperor is not satisfied I’ll sit down. Are you thinking like that?’

Edhir was confused doubting Azadin’s sincerity.

    *********

Even though he had gone back and forth Indim Dimia Zenith was secretly satisfied after confirming Azadin’s vision and his ambitious declaration that he would also aim for the throne.

If it was typical of Azadin not to show off his ambitions it would be typical of Azadin but everyone here knew that that was his original personality.

    Here Indim began his confession.

“To be honest I don’t know if the Northern Qi’s proposal is still valid since it was two years ago. At that time Northern Qi had not yet grown to its current size and Lady Arael was also present.”

    Zenith also nodded.

“The Northern Aragasas are running wild and running wild and I don’t know what kind of empty promises the Northern Emperor has been issuing by bringing in various forces. I wondered if the scattered Arael tribe now that Lady Arael is gone would be given the sweet position of the Emperor’s messenger.”

“Azadin if you become the emperor you are much more trustworthy than the Northern Emperor. Furthermore you a young man who resembles Lady Arael are more suitable to my aesthetic than the bold old man type of the Northern Emperor.”

Dimia complimented Azadin’s appearance. Zenith nodded.

“I don’t dislike the old man type at all. I’m also on Arael’s side. Just thinking about His Majesty the Emperor with Arael’s eyes is so exciting.”

“…Why does it seem like most of the reasons you support me are because of Arael’s appearance?”

“Well I’ve only tasted your face so far. If you show me more than just your face I don’t think I’ll refuse.”

“Actually the guys who failed the messenger selection are different from us who have been on the elite course from the beginning. We are also higher in the class right? If it weren’t for Arael-nim we wouldn’t be like you….”

“Okay enough of this useless talk. Let’s have a productive conversation.”

Azadin spoke to the men of the former tribe of Arael.

“You guys go under the Northern Qi. If you can.”

“Yes? No Count Azadin. Don’t you need talented people to develop your county? It’s embarrassing for us to say this but I don’t think there’s anyone as talented as us.”

“That’s right. They were called heroes of the Chadra Plateau and all but they weren’t anything special.”

Indim said this while looking at Jibek and Niselda.

“Of course it is amazing that a mere servant of a count was able to block my attack.”

    “Tch!”

Niselda lifted the veil covering her face and spat out blood-tinged saliva. She had suffered minor injuries when she clashed with Indim. Indim was clearly superior to Niselda.

    “I’m sorry for disappointing you!”

“Disappointed? What are you talking about? You did too well. I originally planned to kill you in one blow. You don’t need to be disappointed by losing to me vampire. I’m the strongest among the messengers so you should be proud that you were able to hold out against me that much.”

Indim said so calmly. Scott the orc necromancer used to surprise those around him with his arrogance and Indim seemed to be similar to Scott.

“…I apologize instead. Indim wasn’t originally like this but he ended up like this because of the harsh training he received as a child.”

    Dimia apologized to Niselda instead.

“Our clan trains their children too harshly from a young age. It’s not uncommon for them to die or become disabled. Please understand Niselda.”

“If you say it like that it makes me sound like an idiot.”

    “…He’s not dead is he?”

    “….”

Indim kept his mouth shut to try to understand the meaning behind Azadin’s words.

‘It’s common for people to die or become disabled but you didn’t die. Is that what you’re saying?’

“It is an undeniable fact that we need talented people.”

Azadin silenced Indim and headed to the stables of the nearby barracks. The horses were all gone empty but there was plenty of forage and hay. Azadin continued unloading the hay into the trough.

“The dagger stuck in the enemy’s lower abdomen is more useful than the sword in my hand. Of course if the Northern Emperor says he doesn’t need it then I can come back.”

    “…….”

Try to get hired by the Northern Emperor and if that doesn’t work out you can come back and get hired by me. That’s what Azadin was saying. It was a statement that hurt the pride of those called the Four of the Flower Bird and Moon but it was also a remark that was considerate enough to make them angry.

“I will try to get hired by the Northern Emperor. However depending on the situation I may be loyal to him and become your enemy Azadin…”

“That’s what I want. Choose rationally. If you really think that the Northern Emperor will be a better master than me then you should choose him.”

    “….”

It is a great confidence. Even in the presence of a man who has already become the leader of the Northern Alliance and has been given the strange title of King of Kings by the Church of the King Azadin calmly says that he will become a better person.

    “Of course that won’t happen.”
