    #353. The King’s Prophecy 1

There were battles taking place all along the road to Coxhall.

The main characters of the battle were the vampires and cult mutants who were followers of the blood god Ashajit and the Bree and goblin ogres who stood against them.

The monster tribes that follow the Kurt Pantheon have joined the fight against the vampires.

Normally they are monsters that I hate to look at but seeing them fight against vampires and Nether minions made me want to cheer them on.

“Bridles are good at fighting? They’re not very good against humans but I guess they’re good at it.”

Azadin was impressed by Breed’s performance against the vampires and Nether mutants.

“The Breedles are strong and agile. They have a weakness for not having metal weapons but they are dangerous unless you fight them with a cavalry regiment wearing metal armor. They will just get slaughtered by regular peasant soldiers.”

Edir was perplexed to see Azadin looking down on Bree. Since there was no Bree in the eastern Korathar region that Azadin ruled this was the first time Azadin had encountered Bree since arriving at the Knights’ Commandery.

“I see. This is really it. I really want to cheer you on.”

“What are you talking about? They are still disgusting creatures. When Breena Goblin and Ogres catch a human they are just as horrible as the Nether creatures.”

The followers of Kurt’s Pantheon were equally horrific as they would eat humans alive torture them and turn them into ornaments.

Whether it be the beings of the Nether or the Kurt Pantheon they are extremely cruel to humans so watching them with the snowflakes falling from the sky felt like witnessing the end of the human world.

“I would appreciate it if the monsters fought each other and reduced their numbers. I don’t want to interfere with their fight so let’s avoid them as much as possible. But if it’s this direction….”

“Yes. We will be arriving at Coxhall soon…”

    “I see.”

Azadin frowned as he looked at the surrounding wilderness. This was the very wilderness where Azadin had met the death knight Sir Planck.

Even then it felt like a desolate place but now that Fimbulbert has begun and the blood god Ashajit’s followers are roaming around it has turned into a horrifying hell beyond compare.

The winds blowing from the sea and the mountains meet in the wilderness and swirl together like a tornado.

This is not a joke but a tornado that can be life-threatening if you get caught in it. If you get caught in the gusts of wind that sweep away the dirt small rocks sand dry grass and snowflakes on the ground you will be thrown into the sky frozen.

And all kinds of debris thrown by the tornado rained down from the sky threatening those passing through the wilderness.

Azadin dodged the tornado’s debris and lifted Arael’s voice into the sky.

There is confusion in the vision conveyed by Arael’s voice as if the wind is filled with magic.

But in the midst of all that confusion Coxhalle’s figure is visible from afar.

The port city of Coxhall was completely destroyed.

As vampire Hendrik said Bishop Akenar of Coxhal is not in Coxhal and has probably been kidnapped by vampires.

“Would you like to go to Coxhall? If you are looking for Bishop Akenar I don’t think it is necessary to go there.”

“Let’s stop by while we’re here. We might find something else in Coxhall. And we’ll also do some supplies.”

Azadin pointed to his empty knapsack. There was still food left for the people but the horse feed was running low.

    *********

As he traveled with Azadin Edir’s mood began to lift somewhat.

Originally an absolute follower of Darhan Zadek he could not tolerate Azadin a member of the Herald Clan gaining a good reputation among the people now that Darhan Zadek was killed by the Herald Clan.

‘What kind of bastard dares to be a member of the Herald Clan and do so well? I need to see the situation with my own eyes.’

It was true that I approached it with that kind of mindset

But when I actually watched him from Azadin’s side I saw that he was not only handsome and skilled in martial arts but he also had a thoughtful and fair personality.

Even if he was a follower of a different Zadek he could not deny that Azadin was a great talent.

‘Well that’s why he was able to obtain the position of Count even though he was a member of the Herald Clan. No maybe….’

He might not be a strange person even if he were a king not a count.

That thought crossed Edir’s mind for a moment and then disappeared.

    ‘Hey that’s not it.’

However it is hard to imagine Azadin taking the throne. No if I imagine it it seems like a big problem.

‘When the righteous sit on the throne the light of the king’s flower protects the world.’

The teachings of the King’s Church may be…

    ‘No that’s too much.’

Edir frowned as he looked at the destroyed gates of Coxhal.

The stone walls of the Cox’s Gate were destroyed and the city gateposts were covered with beheaded people their corpses devoured and their entrails spilling out.

    It’s a terrible scene.

But what was even more terrifying was that my heart had become accustomed to such horrible sights and was becoming numb.

A blizzard is blowing in from the sea.

As autumn deepens the cold also deepens and the snow no longer melts.

    “That’s strange.”

Azadin frowned as he scouted Coxhal with Arael’s voice.

    “What are you talking about?”

“It looks like an outpost. A warehouse has been built and the buildings in the center of the village have been demolished to create a barrier against the sea. But there’s no sign of life.”

As Azadin saw Coxhal had become a city occupied by a sizable army.

They demolish existing buildings to create facilities needed for combat and garrisoning but people are nowhere to be seen.

“You say there’s no sign of people?”

    “Yeah. It’s empty…”

    “What? You guys?”

At that moment the figure standing on the gatepost discovered Azadin and his party and revealed himself.

The dwarves stood looking in this direction from the broken gate holding firearms.

    “….”

    Arael’s voice made excuses.

The dwarves inside the building were so small that they were difficult to detect even with Arael’s voice.

    Things are not going well.

Blunderbusses and matchlock guns had absolute power and accuracy out to about 15 yards which is exactly the distance we have now.

Even though Azadin and his party are elite warriors with a history of hundreds of battles it is not good to encounter matchlock gunners at this distance.

But then the dwarves started coughing.

“Ugh. Excuse me. Are you Griselda’s daughter?”

Fortunately the dwarves recognized Niselda as Griselda’s daughter.

Judging by their attitude towards Niselda and the dried blood on the dwarves’ beards these guys are probably vampires too.

    “…Can I come in?”

“Of course. You are welcome. If you are Griselda’s daughter.”

The dwarf vampires welcomed Niselda with open greed but were stopped by someone who appeared to be their commander.

“Wait a minute! You idiots. You’re just drunk on blood and pleasure and can’t come to your senses!”

The dwarf commander stopped Azadin’s party from entering and asked.

“First of all I know you are Griselda’s daughter. But what about those guys you came with? They don’t look like blood relatives. And one of them is a knight of the King’s Church.”

“I am a captive who has been charmed.”

When Niselda answered like that the dwarf commander clicked his tongue.

“Are you prisoners of the Arangi Kingdom? Why did you bring so many?”

“To suck out a little of your warm blood. And do you not know what the daughters of Griselda delight in? Is it possible to satisfy my hunger with a mere human male or two?”

    “Oh I see. Okay. Hehehe.”

The dwarf commander who had been on high alert for a moment imagined what Niselda meant and smiled sinisterly.

“Okay. Come in! I want to hear the story of the Arangi Kingdom front!”

The dwarf vampires lured Azadin and his party into the gate without any suspicion.

    *********

As we enter the shattered rubble the firing angle of the matchlock gun is no longer visible.

At that moment Azadin signaled to his companions and quickly moved himself.

First he struck the neck of the nearest dwarf vampire with the Blue Executioner. At the same time he made a stake with Grimthrown’s club and pierced the heart of the vampire behind him.

    “What?!”

    “Oh it’s a trap!”

The dwarf vampires tried to fight back but Niselda attacked them and Bernard cast a spell to create blood spiders that attached themselves to the vampires.

Jibek also swung his sword and cut off the limbs of the dwarf vampires rendering them immobile.

    “Ugh! These kids!”

However the dwarf commander was a dwarf sorcerer even before becoming a vampire so he used the shadow leap spell to quickly move about 10 steps and escape.

“Intruder! Intruder! Alarm! Sound the alarm….”

But at that moment an arrow struck the dwarf commander’s head.

    “hmm?!”

Azadin raised his bow towards the dwarf commander and was startled.

Because it wasn’t an arrow he shot.

-Flowers birds wind moon yellow cranes!

The arrow exploded with magical power shattering the dwarf commander’s head like a rock-blasted watermelon.

And that’s not the end of it. Another arrow flies towards Niselda.

    “stop!”

Azadin caught the flying arrow in mid-air and stopped it.

“She’s on our side. Don’t attack her!”

“Is that so? I just thought you were a vampire.”

The one who had carried out the arrow attack revealed himself. It was the Herald Clan who had been hiding in the rubble of the demolished building.

A young woman with a moon-shaped bow behind her and a bow on her finger emerges with an elegant figure her movements so smooth that it looks more like some kind of mollusk moving and forming a human figure than a person walking.

    “Zenith?”

    “That messenger clan?!”

Edir was startled when the heralds appeared and tried to draw his sword but Zibek stopped him.

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen you Azadin. I’ve heard of your fame. I heard you were recently made the Margrave of Naisandhokar?”

Former 24th Corps Herald Zenith younger sister of Flower Dimia formerly Arael’s subordinate.

She bowed politely to Azadin and smiled at Azadin’s colleagues.

“You are the incarnation of our master Arael. He told me to treat you as he would treat Arael. You are my master’s younger brother so I will give you the respect you deserve. Count Azadin.”

“Who said to treat me like Arael?”

As Zenith silently pointed in a direction the building collapsed and vampires were seen running out of it.

But a red beam of light pierced the vampires’ backs.

    “Ugh?!”

Bloody butterflies began to rise from the vampire’s body.

    “Oh blood magic…..”

Bernard recognized the magic and was amazed.

This is a considerable amount of blood magic. Otherwise the blood butterflies wouldn’t be able to bloom from the vampires’ bodies.

The butterfly tore at the vampire’s body as if it were a cocoon and flew up.

“My sister. She just happened to be here with me.”
