    #332. Samunhoe 2

A hippogriff flew into Fireglyph’s castle.

    -Koosh!

The building shook as the hippogriff perched on its pedestal. Dust rose from the office of the Fireglyph Keep Chapter Master.

“Oh do not sit on the building by riding the Selim’s child.”

Prince Kalintz Chapter Master of the Fireglyphs stood up assuming that it was the work of Selim who was a hippogryph enthusiast by any means.

But after a while the person who came to see him was an unexpected person.

“Nice to meet you Uncle. I am Triodana of the Lioness Clan. I am your niece.”

Celestial Triodana of the Wisdom Order came to see Prince Kalintz.

Prince Kalintz frowned as he watched Triodana greet him politely.

“…Uncle? It makes me sick. Brother.”

“Hahaha. Did you know? Did Sir Azadin tell you?”

    Triodana burst into laughter.

Sir Triodana Officially he is Prince Kalintz’s nephew but in reality he is the reincarnation of Prince Tryton Prince Kalintz’s older brother.

“Where did the northern man’s spirit go and how handsome he looks like a southerner… Oh my god. How did he do that? That? They said he died fighting the ogres but was that just a rumor?”

“Shh. Birds listen to what’s said during the day and mice listen to what’s said at night. Kalintz you probably have some idea why I’m here right?”

“Well? I don’t know. I’m just a discarded stone who doesn’t even know that my family has been reincarnated as Celestials.”

“Don’t talk nonsense. Why would I reincarnate you as a Celestial when you’re perfectly fine? If you get wounded or die in battle I don’t want to just leave you to die then so I reincarnate you. Even though I say it myself this isn’t very good. My past memories and personality are like memories from a state of lucidity when you drink alcohol and your nose is twisted. I don’t feel like my identity is maintained. My memories from my past life are like things I know from reading books. Do you think it’s the life of a different person from the current me?”

In other words although Triodana is the reincarnation of Triton his personality and character are not completely identical.

Wouldn’t that be Triton’s death then?

Triodana laughed as Kalintz’s face darkened.

“Of course it is better than dying. It is much better than getting hurt old and sick so be happy. Your father will also give you another life. How can you not be happy when you think of having an extra life?”

“Ahaha. That’s really nice. So. What did you come here for? You want me to be reincarnated as a Celestial too?”

“Didn’t you understand what I said? If you don’t die or get hurt I won’t reincarnate you. I came here because of that thunderous brat named Azadin. I heard you’re pretty close with him huh?”

“She was really beautiful. If only she were a man I would have proposed to a woman like her. I heard she had a twin sister but she died. It’s such a shame.”

“It’s embarrassing to hear that as a joke.”

Triodana smiled bitterly because she could sense that Kalintz was not very friendly towards them.

“Anyway my father is interested in him. Rumor has it that he has the sword of Sir Planck the Wisdom.”

    “Aurelia Dunn right? Yes.”

    “Are you using it correctly?”

“Can a guy who can’t even use a knife become that famous?”

“No what I mean is did it catch fire? Did the ceramite flames burn?”

“I don’t know because I haven’t seen it fight directly but… it’ll burn right? Why?”

“Aurelia Dunn is on fire? Hmm. Maybe we can get him to our side from the Rescue Knights? What does he want?”

“…It’ll be tough brother. Although I hate to say it that guy is a rescuer through and through. He doesn’t seem to want much for money women or even fame.”

When Azadin a member of the herald clan said that he was a rescue knight through and through it was hard to tell whether this was true or a joke.

But Prince Kalintz’s expression was extremely serious.

“Then I guess I’ll have to get you kicked out of the Rescue Knights even if you don’t like it. I understand. That’s why I came here.”

    “….”

    “Why? Are you worried?”

“Uh. Wouldn’t it be better not to pull the eyelids of a sleeping dragon?”

Prince Kalintz looked worried after hearing Triodana’s remarks.

“Heine that woman was like that too and you are like that too. What on earth is wrong with that guy?”

“There is definitely something. How could someone with nothing do something like that? He’s really amazing. But… if you ask me what it is it’s hard to give a vague answer. But there’s definitely something about him. If possible I’d rather not touch it. No actually I feel like I want to help him a little.”

“What are you talking about? He’s becoming a hindrance to Father’s plans. You must know how much effort our Father put into preparing this.”

    “Is that so?”

“If you have any personal feelings throw them away. You must carry out your father’s will.”

Prince Kalintz now realized that he was at a crossroads.

Will you follow the will of your father the Northern Emperor Cohen Lionaire or will you side with Azadin?

“What on earth are you trying to do?”

“Open a meeting of the four councils.”

“The council? At St. Mallory’s? Then I’m not going?”

Kalintz informed Triodana that he would exercise his veto if Azadin were to appear at St. Mallory.

“I thought that would happen anyway. That’s why Bishop Sehnath himself will come here to Fireglyph.”

    “…The bishop himself?”

“Yes. I had been expecting that messenger clan guy to join the Salvation Knights without much resistance. I had a hard time stopping Bishop Sehnath from doing anything rash.”

    “…”

It seemed as though they would do anything to get Azadin involved in the council.

    *********

A messenger from Fireglyph arrived for Azadin who was reinforcing the fortress at the Sandokar Gate.

‘The investigation team that departed from St. Mallory has arrived at Fireglyph. So Apprentice Knight Azadin please report to Fireglyph and respond to the inquiry.’

If the vampires had attacked Sandokar and were engaged in combat Azadin could have bought time by requesting a postponement of the council.

However at the time when the council members had come to Fireglyph in person and there was no fighting with the dwarves or vampires they had no right to postpone it.

“It’s faster than I expected. On the other hand… the vampires aren’t attacking.”

In the end Azadin had no choice but to return to Fireglyph with only a small force leaving the reinforcement work and defense of Sandokar to his subordinates.

    *********

Triodana of the Wisdom Order and Gareth of the Courage Order originally intended to conduct only investigations.

However Bishop Sehnat insisted on holding a synod and the church considered removing Azadin.

“It is rare for someone to be so talented as to avoid the angels and come out. And didn’t he even protect the transport ships against the Aragasa? He has already been summoned to the Samunhoe so it is unnatural for him to be assassinated. I think it would be okay to punish him after thoroughly investigating the pros and cons.”

Gareth opposed the bishop’s plan to assassinate Azadin. Bishop Sehnath then turned a blind eye.

“I was just assuming a possible outcome. Do you think I’m some kind of thug?”

“Yes.” The answer rose and fell in Sir Gareth’s throat.

At that moment a messenger informed them that Azadin had arrived.

    “That’s fast.”

“Because I came flying in on a hippogriff.”

“I guess I should start getting ready soon.”

“Hmm. What would the Church of Mercy do at a time like this….”

Triodana expressed her discontent at the failure of the Mercy Church’s investigative team to arrive and headed to the Fireglyph meeting hall where the upcoming meeting was to be held.

    *********

When Azadin arrived at the council chamber it was heavily guarded. Sir Gareth’s Tercio soldiers were lined up armed with firearms and pikes.

The smell of loaded gunpowder stings the nose. Even if he were Azadin he wouldn’t be able to survive if all these Tercio soldiers fired their gunpowder weapons at once.

‘The Order of Courage won’t try to kill me.’

Azadin was calmly calculating the sect’s reaction.

If anyone wanted to harm Azadin it would be the Northern Qi faction within the Wisdom Order which has strong influence over the Northern Qi.

Although the Wisdom Order suffered humiliation at the hands of Azadin Azadin later helped the Celestial Fire Knights bring the transport ship back safely.

In other words Azadin has personally proven that it is to their advantage to have him in the Knights Templar. If they are trying to purge Azadin despite this it is either because of their excessive hostility towards Azadin or because of the Northern Qi’s ambition to easily privatize the Knights Templar.

‘I guess I should prepare just in case.’

Azadin entered the council chamber cautiously and looked around. The Wisdom Order was attended by Sir Triodana and the Courage Order by Sir Gareth. Prince Kalintz was also seated in the vice-principal’s seat.

In the center of the council chamber in the judge’s seat a skinny man who looked more like an undead than a human was wearing an ornate bishop’s robe and was looking at Azadin with contempt.

    Bishop Sehnat.

It seemed that the corrupt priest who had joined hands with the Northern Emperor was the very same leader of the sect who had summoned Azadin.
