    #330. Banreung Expedition 9

“There is no such thing as kinship so please burn it with the flames of ceramite. I will gladly enjoy watching it burn to death before my eyes.”

Vampires struck by Aurelia Dawn the ceramite sword wielded by Azadin the Flame of Ceramite suffered terrible pain.

It was so horrible that Azadin had to pick them up halfway through and euthanize them.

It is unclear whether all ceramite longswords are this vulnerable or whether the Aurelia Dawn used by Azadin is particularly stronger than the others but seeing the horrific sight made Azadin decide not to use it as much as possible.

But Niselda was suggesting that her own mother her own flesh and blood be burned in that terrible flame.

Is it a bluff or does he really hate his mother that much?

Either way the enemy numbers are large and the momentum is dangerous. The vampires here now are of a higher rank than the vampire spawns that just recently became vampires.

We can’t let our guard down with the storm of Elemental Wailing raging.

    “good.”

Azadin combined a ceramite longsword with Grimthrown’s club.

The wooden club grew and transformed biting the ceramite longsword and transforming into a large spear.

Azadin hung the spear on his bow. No matter how strong the Moonbow of the Herald Clan was the projectile was too heavy. However as the wooden part of Grimsloun’s club began to glow its weight diminished.

Azadin fired ceramite arrows a combination of Aurelia Dunn and Grimthrown’s club at the vampires blocking his path.

    “ha ha ha!”

    “You idiot! That’s a weapon too…”

The dwarf vampires laughed at Azadin as he tried to fire the ridiculous spear from his bow.

The bow is small but the arrows are shot from something as big as a javelin so it is extremely reckless. The dwarf vampires thought that Azadin’s attacks would not dare to come near them so they ignored them and cast spells. As sorcerers of Banreung Academy they attacked Azadin by casting a flame destruction arrow spell but…

The arrow fired by Azadin twisted in the air and changed its speed and angle rapidly like a fish swimming against the current and warded off the incoming magic.

    No I destroyed it.

-Garura of flowers birds wind and moon!

    Golden lightning dances.

A single beam of light pierced through the vampires slaughtering soldiers on the walls of the Sandokar Gate.

    “uh?!”

The vampires were taken aback by the incredible speed and change in orbit. What was even more surprising was that this attack did not target their weak points but only cut through parts of their skin such as the flesh on their arms thighs and waists.

What kind of stupid attack is this? Such a shallow wound would not have been a big deal even when they were dwarves not vampires.

Did you apply poison? Most poisons don’t work on vampires and even if there were there would be no effect if you wounded this many vampires without replenishing their venom.

    The vampires laughed.

    however….

Flames burst out from the wounds where their ceramite arrows had grazed their backs.

    “Whoaaah?!”

    “uh?!”

    “Keuuuuuu!”

The vampires were terrified by the flames that began to burn their bodies.

I lay down on the floor to put out the fire but it was like laying flat on a hot plate. It was even hotter and more painful.

The flames continue to burn and scorch my skin and the ground is hot and painful like lava.

“Ahhh! What the heck is this!”

    “This guy!”

    Some vampires began to transform.

A transformation ability that can be used by high-ranking vampires is to release their bloodthirsty true form and transform into a monstrous form called a Bloodletter.

Even though they transformed into this form much larger than a normal human and revealing sharp teeth and claws they were unable to shake off the flames.

    “You son of a bitch!”

The vampires maddened by the pain of being burned in the flames rushed at Azadin but Azadin’s subordinates Xebec and Niselda blocked their path.

And then the arrows flew again from behind them.

The ceramite arrows which moved freely as if they were living creatures of their own pierced the wings sprouting from Bloodletter’s back.

    “Kkaaaak!”

    “Kwaa!”

Bloodletter’s wings catch fire and burn.

And what awaited them was a miserable fate.

“Why won’t this thing turn off! Turn it off!”

    “Ugh…..”

The vampires went crazy from the constant burning pain. At first the wounds were small so they were able to ignore them and move on in the excitement or rage of battle but as the fire penetrated deeper and began to burn deep into their bones they could no longer ignore them.

There were vampires who had escaped the flames by tearing off their flesh or cutting off their arms but they were hit by the arrows of Garuda of the Flower Bird and Wind.

Even if it’s an arrow it’s a weapon greater than a spear since it uses a longsword as an arrowhead. If such a weapon moves that fast it could kill instantly if it hits directly… But Azadin moved this ceramite arrow well so that it only caused wounds.

    This was more vicious.

    “…Hey this guy!”

Prince Kalzmati unable to stand by any longer activated the Elemental Wailing.

A gust of evil power pours down targeting Azadin.

But at that moment Azadin was finally able to understand the true nature of the Elemental Wailing.

    ‘It was nether magic.’

A giant hand of death descends from the sky aiming for Azadin. Azadin’s vision is that of the Eyeless Azadin who sees through all magic and objects so the hand is seen very clearly in this vision.

To others around him it appeared as if a gust of wind was rising accompanied by a subtle harbinger of power but Azadin dodged them by precisely following the hand of the Reaper.

    “No how?!”

Prince Kalzmati who was attacking was confused when he saw Azadin dodging his attack.

His men tried to protect him with their bodies but a huge spear with a ceramite longsword as its tip flew towards them. As Azadin gestured towards the air the ceramite longsword that was flying towards them caught fire on its own spewing out flames like lava.

    “Ugh?!”

A spear of flame passed between the vampires.

    -Whew!

The spear shot up like golden lightning ripping the air at a right angle then split into many branches and struck down again.

    “Oh no!”

Prince Kalzmati and his high-ranking vampire subordinates tried to escape but the speed of the Flower Bird and Moon Garuda was beyond imagination.

Prince Kalzmati’s head was left with a large wound and flames.

    “Ugh?!”

I felt like I was going to faint from the excruciating pain. What was even more terrifying was that my hair and beard were burning away and disappearing.

    “Ugh… This eeeeeeeeeek!”

Prince Kalzmati rolled around clawing at the ground like an animal.

It wasn’t just him. Other vampires also rolled around unable to bear the pain.

Azadin reached out to the golden lightning dancing across the sky.

This golden lightning created by combining Aurelia Dunn and Grimthrown’s club changed back into a longsword and club and returned to Azadin’s hands.

Azadin took Aurelia Dunn and approached the writhing vampires.

“That’s ridiculous. We’re vampires. We’re predators of the night and you’re just prey… What the….”

“Ceramite has this kind of power?”

There were only a few vampires who could speak and they were all in agony struggling. Unfortunately for them the higher-ranking vampires had even stronger vitality and could not easily commit suicide.

Another problem was that there was no weapon that could deliver a massive blow at once like the Blunderbuss.

Prince Kalzmati was self-harming clawing at his own head with his claws splitting his scalp and even his skull but despite this his body healed again.

    And then it burns again.

    “…Niselda. Is your mother here?”

    “There isn’t any.”

    “then….”

Azadin mutated Grimthrown’s club into a wooden stake which he used to pierce the hearts of vampires thus easing their suffering.

    *********

    The sun began to rise.

The clouds summoned by the Elemental Wailing’s magic disappear and the sun rises normally.

Below a nobleman wearing steel armor walked up and stood in front of Azadin.

“Are you Sir Azadin the knight from the Herald Clan?”

    “Yes. You?”

“I am Count Sandokar Ivechek. Sir Azadin. I wish to leave the kingdom of Banrung and join your service. Will you accept my sword?”

    “…….”

A noble from the kingdom of Banreung offered his sword to Azadin the soulless blasphemer and murderer of the king. It was an absurd act.

When you think about what would happen next it would be a terrible and sacrilegious act that would make the traditional nobles curse every single brick of Count Sandokar’s house.

Of course beyond the gossip and jealous stares of such people Sandhokar was an important area.

It is the border between the Salvation Knights and the Banreung Kingdom Arangi Kingdom so its value is indescribable. From Azadin’s perspective it is like a pumpkin rolling in with a vine. So Azadin was curious whether the Count was being sincere right now.

“I appreciate your intentions but what are you going to do about the aftermath?”

“I saw the prince of the kingdom I served turn into a vampire and slaughter his people and now I’m afraid of being talked about by other people so I’m told to continue serving the kingdom of Banreung? That’s ridiculous.”

“But there are others besides me. How about the Kingdom of Arangi? They would gladly accept your loyalty.”

“What kind of a bloody test is this? Don’t make me talk too much. Sir Azadin. My eyes are not slits. If Banryeong is a termite that grows anywhere and eats everything and Arangian is a wolf then you are… a dragon. If you are going to entrust me with my sword you should go under a dragon. Either accept my sword or watch those bloody dwarven vampires annihilate my people and my family.”

    “…….”

He’s a strange person who threatens with his own life and Youngmin’s life.

“The prince died in our territory anyway so if you don’t accept him he will soon become food for vampires.”

“Understood. I will accept it. No it wasn’t you who asked it was I who forced it. If you don’t want to die Count Sandokar Ivechek. Come join my army.”

“Hahahahaha! This is really something. What an amazing knight. Who would have thought that in a world where chivalry has become a laughing stock someone like this would come from the Herald Clan!”

Count Sandokar Ivchek was impressed by Azadin’s painting of him submitting to threats and coercion so as not to burden him and knelt before him.

“Sandokar’s Evechek asks for the courtesy of the king.”

Azadin sighed and took the sword from Ivchek spinning it twice over his head before handing the hilt back to him.

The bizarre picture of a single apprentice knight of the Rescue Knights having a count under him was completed.
