    #314. Sectarian Dispute 4

    “What are you doing?”

Triodana was puzzled to see Azadin’s consciousness focused on something other than himself.

Arael’s voice like the Emperor’s was a being that could only be seen and heard by the contractor Azadin if there was no physical medium but Triodana also felt the faint appearance of some magical being.

    “What is this now?”

    “I’m busy excuse me!”

Azadin quickly leapt out the window leaving Triodana behind.

There was a wooden latch on the inn window but Azadin broke it with his body and ran out.

    “Huh! Stand right there!”

Triodana also began to pursue Azadin but Triodana in her human form without revealing her Celestial wings did not dare to pursue Azadin.

However it was impossible to reveal her true colors by transforming into a Celestial within St. Mallory. While Triodana hesitated Azadin shook him off and climbed up a nearby building to activate Arael’s voice.

A spirit in the form of a transparent bird flew through the sky showing Azadin the way.

The direction Arael’s voice leads seems to be towards the distant dock…

As soon as he climbed up to the top of the building an amazing sight unfolded before Azadin’s eyes.

The sea was frozen over and ice was washing up on the shore.

    “What is this?!”

The place where St. Mallory is located is low in latitude and has a lot of sunlight so it is actually difficult for knights to move around wearing armor. The sea water is cold so it is not perceived as a tropical climate like Btuma but it is difficult to see snow even in winter.

But the sea froze over and ice came rushing in? It was an absurd event.

Azadin ran quickly towards where the gold coin petitioner was.

“Stop! Sir Azadin! Don’t run away!”

Triodana’s scream was heard from behind Azadin but Azadin pretended not to hear her and ignored her words. He ran out and asked Arael’s voice.

“Who is the petitioner? What is the petition?”

[The petitioner is Ahaji. He is an old acquaintance of yours.]

“Oh my? This is the first time I’ve heard of it.”

[The day before yesterday you rushed at me with gold coins. Is this your first time hearing about me? You’ve become lax since becoming a paladin. You should remember everything when you’re a messenger right?]

“No I’ve been making a lot of long-term plans lately and I have a lot of subordinates to manage so I don’t have the time to waste my energy on that. But that guy… is too much. Wasn’t that gold supposed to be my duel fee? And you’re going to use it to make a petition?”

[If you’re going to claim his gold coins as yours it would be a good idea to at least remember his name.]

Azadin’s heart ached as he heard Arael’s voice whining.

The Emperor’s voice was made from pieces of Emperor Yaeslat’s soul. Likewise this artificial spirit called Arael’s voice was made from a part of Arael’s soul. Its speech and tone would have Arael’s feelings but Azadin was not close to Arael so he could not understand her speech and personality.

Aside from being blood relatives Azadin and Arael are in fact no different than strangers. Despite this Arael was loyal to her bond with Azadin as blood relatives sacrificing everything she had.

I wish I had known her better. Now my heart aches at the thought of an irreversible ties with my family.

‘This freezing sea is also amazing. Hmm?’

Azadin felt the life force exploding towards him and twisted his body.

Azadin slipped on the stone pavement which was covered in white limestone as the limestone had dissolved from the stones on the floor as they cleaned the alley near the beach by spraying seawater.

The blades of the icicles passed precariously over his head.

The ice chunks each one a forearm thicker than Jang Jeong’s fired their ice blades at Azadin.

    “Ugh!”

    “Save me!”

Sailors and soldiers were fighting against icebergs that had washed in from the sea and ice golem-like creatures that had appeared on top of the ice.

    “This is…..”

Azadin took Grimthrone’s club instead of the ceramite longsword. The tree trunk transformed and the axe handle lengthened transforming into a giant halberd. The Azure Steel Blue Executioner attached itself to Grimthrone’s tree restoring its original form as a halberd.

    “Ugh!”

As Azadin rushed in and swung his spear axe the ice golem’s waist was cleanly split in two. As expected the hard ice was more effective against the sharp and hard blue executioner than against the soft ceramite longsword.

As I rushed forward swinging Azadin’s Blue Executioner the ice golems fell like fallen autumn leaves in an instant.

    “ah!”

    “It’s Ajustel?!”

    “amazing!”

The rescued sailors and residents looked at Azadin in amazement.

“Thank you. Who are you? Are you?”

“This is the apprentice knight Azadin.”

    “Azadin?!”

    “…That messenger clan?”

Even in St. Mallory rumors about Azadin had spread and everyone knew who he was just by mentioning his name. Everyone’s expressions were dark as if the rumors about him were not good.

The Knights Templar were no exception in their hatred of the Heralds and the rumors about Azadin were considered blatant spies shameless assassins but also a conspiracy in itself that had been brought in to uncover the Heralds’ plot to attack Korasar and Bthuma.

It was natural for people to be confused when the unlucky protagonist of the rumor suddenly came running to save them.

“Hmm. I have a bad feeling about this.”

Azadin felt a chill coming from all sides and felt uneasy. This coldness. It felt familiar somehow.

    ‘I don’t think so…. No. It can’t be.’

Azadin left behind a sense of unease and gave evacuation orders to those around him.

“Avoid the coast and evacuate inward! Don’t fight back just run away! Oh and have you seen the swordsman of Tarasar named Ahaji?”

    “I am here!”

Aharji gestured from above a warehouse that had tilted sideways as the ice rolled in. This Tarasar man was wielding a saber in one hand and a small round metal shield in the other and was using the Tarasar-style saber swordsmanship to fight the monster.

However saber swordsmanship was basically designed to deal with humans. Techniques such as deflecting an opponent’s attacks with a shield and striking the head with a sword would have been fatal to a human but to an ice golem it would only cause a single gash the size of a person’s head.

I have managed to survive until now despite all that.

Azadin rushed in and swung his Blue Executioner slicing the ice golem vertically in one stroke.

It splits cleanly in two from the head to the crown. Once the ice breaks the magic power of the Blue Executioner is activated through the crack slicing it cleanly left and right.

This weapon’s performance is maximized when striking materials that have a brittle nature.

To those who didn’t know the inside story Azadin seemed to have such incredible strength that he would split anyone he struck with.

“Oh my god! This is amazing! Oh I spent gold!”

“I know! Hey Aha-ri! Weren’t you supposed to give me that gold coin as a duel fee? I thought you were just leaving it for me because I didn’t get the change but you spent it instead.”

“Haha. Don’t be so picky. Don’t you know what they say? Just let what’s been said happen.”

The Tarasars say that what’s done is done but they are famous for being thorough in their retaliation when they are harmed. To be exact they have a custom of always retaliating for bloodshed but dealing with money or goods that are not bloodshed.

‘You finally made it to the Arangi region.’

The Arangians were obsessed with honor and considered taking even a portion of their property as a challenge to their honor. In other words they were of a nature that would inevitably see bloodshed even if they harmed a single coin or a single livestock and so they did not get along very well with the Tarasars.

It is fortunate that Tarasar and Arangi are located at the ends of the continent but this Tarasar somehow ended up in an area where Arangians are swarming.

Azadin shouted at Ahaji while dealing with the golems.

“Tell them that the petition was fulfilled because you saved my life!”

“Oh I see! The petition has been completed…”

But then a roar rang out.

From among the rushing ice strange beasts appeared instead of ice golems.

The corpses of those killed by the ice golem began to sprout hair and transform into giant yetis.

The transformed appearance was something that Azadin was familiar with.

‘It’s a Wendigo? Damn it. I had an ominous feeling all along. Could it be?’

Azadin suspected that there might be a Wendigo dagger inside these glaciers.

If so… did this iceberg come because Azadin used his magic to find weapons? Did Azadin’s lost Wendigo dagger return with a terrible disaster and storm St. Mallory?

‘Is this because of me? What the hell. I didn’t know this would happen?’

Azadin felt dizzy as he looked at the icebergs covering the entire docks and the ice golems and wendigos harming people everywhere.

The property damage and loss of life is enormous. Are you saying that this all happened because of that one order?

‘Ah this is not the time. I need to retrieve the Wendigo’s dagger….’

It was when Azadin came to his senses and was about to move forward.

    “Pay attention!”

A loud voice roared from the sky along with light.

A figure with spread angel wings was flying into the sky emitting a dazzling light. It was so dazzling that even Azadin could not look straight at it.

But Azadin could tell who he was.

    Triodana.

Celestial a member of the Order of Wisdom could not stand it any longer and spread her angel wings revealing her true form.

‘What the heck? That kid is incredibly strong. He’s on a whole other level than Izmila. He seems even stronger than Karna.’

Azadin was astonished by the power of Triodana who shone as brightly as the sun and radiated terrifying strength.

Triodana spread her angel wings in the sky and fired a barrage of terrifying fireballs at the icebergs and ice golems.

A tornado of fire descended from the sky connecting the ground and engulfing the icebergs and ice golems literally tearing them apart.

A tornado of fire struck the glacier repeatedly tearing apart the golems and wendigos above it and Triodana spun around in the air.

His body was wrapped around a giant tornado and he plummeted landing right in the middle of the iceberg.

    -Bang!

A loud noise like a meteorite hitting shook the heavens and the earth.

    -Quadduddud!

The glaciers that were pushed onto the land flow back into the sea. The icebergs that were broken by Triodana are now being pushed onto the land and are flowing back into the sea.

And Triodana picked up a huge bone dagger from the top of the iceberg.

It was the Wendigo’s dagger the source of the power that created the iceberg.

‘…Ah. That’s really it. This is a big deal.’

Azadin looked at the Wendigo’s dagger with pity.
