Night of the Soulless Heathens – 313

#313. Sectarian conflict 3
“The first person I suspect is… Inquisitor Jecht.”
When Zect’s name was mentioned everyone let out a huff.
The strongest knight in the King’s Church. And a man skilled in both black magic and dark schemes.
If the scroll of consciousness of past lives had been passed on to him it would have been a great disaster not only for the Order of Wisdom but also for the entire Order of the Knights of Salvation.
“It must be him. There’s no way he wouldn’t be interested in Celestial Fire. We should contact the Northern Emperor right now and come up with a plan.”
When the Celestial Knight said that everyone was taken aback.
“No wait a minute. Sir Triodana. That seems a bit hasty.”
“It would take too long to contact the Northern Emperor now. It wouldn’t be too late to find the Scroll of Past Life with our own hands first and then report back.”
If they tell the Northern Qi about their incompetence they will be pushed back from taking the initiative and will end up becoming a complete puppet of the Northern Qi.
I wanted to avoid that situation as much as possible.
“And before you doubt Lord Jecht isn’t there another threat? A soulless blasphemer.”
“Yes just the day before yesterday Azadin of Chadra passed through the gate.”
“What was he doing?”
“There are reports of fights with wearbores outside the gate.”
“Wearbore?”
“yes. ”
“What a strange guy. What were you doing on the day of the incident?”
“On the day of the incident… I heard that he found a tour guide by asking the innkeeper at the inn. This morning it’s past midnight now so it must have been yesterday morning. He registered for a group tour course in the morning and came into contact with the Charity Church. He was taken to their interrogation room.”
Heine knew that the Wisdom Order was also following Azadin’s trail so he made it seem like he was taken to the Mercy Order’s interrogation room.
This camouflage strategy worked so well that the Wisdom Order believed that Azadin had been interrogated in the Mercy Order’s interrogation room.
“Group tour?”
“Pfft.”
At that moment the Celestial Knight burst into laughter. Everyone’s eyes were on him because he couldn’t hold back his laughter during the serious meeting but he stood tall.
“You’re an interesting person. I wonder if it’s a smokescreen or if you’re being serious… I’d like to meet you sometime.”
“We are in a meeting now Sir Triodana.”

“Oh I’m sorry.”
“So is it true that you went sightseeing?”
“Oh I’m sorry. The official name is St. Mallory Pilgrimage Guide. I paid the official fee and was in the middle of the pilgrimage when I was taken away by the Mercy Order.”
“….”
Everyone was speechless at that part.
Are you saying that a soulless blasphemous bastard was lured into a tour package targeting ordinary pilgrims and went all the way from the Chadra Plateau to here?
“Considering that the Mercy Church brought them in it seems that they may have joined hands with the Mercy Church.”
Azadin’s absurd behavior shocked them but that did not mean he was off the radar. No rather such strange behavior only made them even more wary.
“Let’s start with interrogating him. Let’s summon him. If he doesn’t respond we’ll eliminate him.”
“What should I use as an excuse?”
“He is in league with the assassin of the new king Lord Jibek. Just hiding Lord Jibek is tantamount to committing a crime of treason.”
The Wisdom Order decided to secure Azadin first. Jecht the heretic inquisitor of the King’s Church was someone they could not easily deal with so they did not give in easily but Azadin had no supporters and was a member of the Herald Clan so they did not like him from the beginning.
I was planning on punishing him if he was caught doing something wrong but I couldn’t get any better since he was a thorn in my side and was acting all around me.
“Okay then I’ll go and meet him.”
Lord Triodana a descendant of the Northern Emperor and reincarnated Celestial volunteered for the mission.
*********
Darkness has descended on the St. Mallory’s Inn a holy site for the Knights Templar where lanterns sway.
But this street refused to sleep in the darkness of the night and was doing business by chasing away the darkness with expensive candles cheap torches and the light that flickered with desire.
The inns and brothels were bustling with customers in a way that belied the solemnity of the place.
Azadin was packing his bags to leave St. Mallory at one of the inns on the street. It wasn’t much luggage but it was definitely a little more than when he first arrived.
It was a tourist souvenir from St. Mallory.
At each of the tourist sites in St. Mallory they were selling crudely made models of monuments embroidered flags and paperweights to keep them from being blown away by the wind which Azadin bought and collected.
Even though he knew the truth about the Rescue Knights and no longer had high expectations for them the reason he bought these souvenirs was because there was still a blind and wounded boy inside Azadin.
Besides that I bought some gifts to give to my subordinates.
The luggage is quite large because it contains items that are difficult to find in the big cities such as precious sweets spices that are hard to find in Chadra perfumes high-quality fabrics and rulers with luxurious seals attached to sturdy cloth.
It was when I was packing my luggage as tightly as possible and distributing it well so that I would not get tired during the long trip.
“Excuse me!”
The wooden steps began to make a bone-crunching sound as the innkeeper came up from below.
The creaking sound of an old man’s knees shook the entire inn like thunder.
“Are you Sir Azaddin? We have a guest.”
“You are a guest.”
It is difficult to escape silently from this wooden building which makes a loud noise even with just a little walking.
Even if that weren’t the case Azadin was curious about what kind of person this guest was.
So I went down the stairs… and met an unexpected person.
‘Is it Karna or someone else?’
A young man with a face that looked exactly like Karna but with a more toned-down appearance was waiting for Azadin revealing his pure white teeth.
He recognized Azadin as soon as he came down the stairs.

“Wow. You look so innocent. I thought you’d have horns and fangs just because you’re from the Herald Clan but you’re actually this handsome. Oh I’m Triodana a hospitalist from the Wisdom Cult.”
“Azadin Lord Triodana. It is a pleasure to meet you. But what brings you here at this hour?”
“That’s strange. I know you met Karna on your way here but you didn’t say a word about my resemblance to Karna. Are you wary of me?”
The knight who introduced himself as Triodana was well aware that Azadin had already made contact with Karna.
However he found it suspicious that Azadin was acting like he was seeing him for the first time and was acting like it was the first time he had seen him. However Azadin’s answer was beyond his imagination.
“I said it was rude to bring up something that happened when we first met.”
When Azadin started to babble the other knights who came with Triodana were startled. Azadin’s words were ultimately intended to criticize Triodana for talking badly about her appearance when they first met.
“Um so you’re saying that you were offended by the fact that I said this and that about your appearance when we first met?”
“No. If you’re going to be offended by things like talking about appearance it’ll be hard to live as a messenger. There are so many people who are so rude that you’ll just have to get used to it.”
Azadin deftly accepted Triodana’s words.
“Um… Okay. Let me get straight to the point. You’ll have to go somewhere with us.”
“Where?”
“There are those who wish to meet Lord Azadin without being noticed by other sects. I am trying to arrange a meeting with them.”
“Who exactly are they?”
“This is Sir Durio Chapter Master of the Order of St. Mallory of the Wisdom Order.”
Sir Durio the leader of the Order of the Stronghold who protects the Order of Wisdom at St. Mallory wanted to see Azadin. It was no different from threatening to have him come into their investigation room.
Azadin looked embarrassed. He had not expected his opponent to stab him so blatantly.
Judging from Triodana’s attitude and reaction it doesn’t seem like they know that Azadin is the real culprit and are acting this way. However they believe that even if Azadin stabs them they can treat him carelessly regardless of whether he is the culprit or not and so they are acting this way without any consequences.
Since there would be no problem even if they attacked the Wisdom Sect decided to secure Azadin and keep him captive.
If you listen to them and get caught they will keep you locked up and tormenting you until they get the results they want.
“I’m busy. Can we do it later? Is it important?”
“That might be a bit difficult. You took the time out of your busy schedule. Is there something else you need to do?”
“I was just packing to go back after a long absence from the Chadra Plateau. How long will it take?”
“Don’t worry. Even if it takes a long time I’m sure they won’t detain you for no reason or anything like that.”
“Please tell me first what is going on.”
“Yes. In fact the Wisdom Order is currently experiencing something strange. Just this afternoon there was an inappropriate break-in at our Order’s headquarters and the intruders stole important items from our Order.”
“So you’re doubting me?”
“Rather we need your cooperation Lord Azadin. Of course it’s not like you have any reason to help us but….”
It won’t be fun if you refuse. Is that what you’re trying to say? Azadin smiled bitterly.
“What exactly was stolen? Treasure?”
“It’s a magic scroll. It’s a scroll that contains a powerful spell but it was stolen by an intruder.”
“What is this scroll used for? Do you have any idea where it might be?”
“If we were to guess where to go it would be the King’s Church. Sir Azadin. You know the Inquisitor Lord Jecht right? I understand you’ve met with him recently. In any case it would be a bit strange to discuss matters involving the King’s Church in a crowded inn would it? So would you please follow us?”
Trioda skillfully created a situation where they had no choice but to go. They cannot speak in public that would slander the King’s Church. So come into the interrogation room at the headquarters of the Wisdom Order. This is how they laid the groundwork.
Of course Azadin refused knowing full well that if he was dragged away like this it would be the end.
“That’s a bit difficult.”
“Why is that?”
“I think it will take too long. I have to return to the Chadra Plateau tomorrow.”
“I’ll send it to you before the gates open. I just ask for your light cooperation.”
“….”
Of course Triodana had no intention of sending Azadin back at that time.
Once they bring them in they just put them in their interrogation room and that’s it.
No one would blame him for breaking his promise and keeping him captive and even if Azadin had the talent to fly and crawl it would be nearly impossible for him to escape from the headquarters of the Knights of Wisdom.
‘Ugh. These guys. They’re persistent. They commit such a crime and still have the audacity to do it. Should I just kill them?’
Azadin was also furious at the Wisdom Order for destroying the statues of angels and reincarnating powerful people into Celestials. But they were trying to force him into their investigation room…
Should I just deal with the guys in front of me without thinking about the consequences? I was feeling that temptation.
But then it happened.
[The Emperor’s gold coin has been used. Azadin. The petitioner’s life is now in danger.]
Suddenly Arael’s voice announced that the Emperor’s gold had been used that is that someone had petitioned the Emperor’s messenger.
