    #312. Sectarian conflict 2

Azadin managed to reach a smooth agreement with the Inquisitor Jecht.

Jecht grasps the influence of the Northern Qi forces within the King’s Church and thoroughly disciplines the church by informing it of the secrets of the Celestials.

Azadin himself restrains himself from allowing Celestial Fire to gain control within the Rescue Knights.

It was a loose alliance but one of great value simply because the Inquisitor Jecht did not rush to kill the soulless blasphemer Azadin.

“However there is nothing we can do about the fact that Lord Jibek is wanted and that Lord Maya has lost her reason after becoming a wearbore. Is that okay?”

“…Well there’s nothing I can do about it. That’s it.”

“Then is there any more information to share? If not I’ll just get up. I’m going to be even busier from now on.”

“I wish you continued success Lord Jecht.”

“Yes. I hope you too have good luck.”

Zect looked at Zibek with a smile.

    “Sir Jibek.”

    “yes.”

“Please take good care of him. Well I’m not in a position to say that.”

    “All right.”

Jibek nodded bewildered by Zect’s words. He didn’t know why the sinister and self-centered Zect had changed his attitude so suddenly.

Judging by the sudden change in Heine’s attitude it seems like Azadin did something…

“Then I will leave now… Sir Azadin. You should also get out of here quickly. The Wisdom Order is not stupid.”

    “but.”

Azadin left no trace or identity in the Wisdom Order. However Azadin entered St. Mallory just yesterday. And if an accident suddenly occurred in the depths of the Wisdom Order then naturally the eyes of suspicion would be directed at Azadin.

Even without evidence Azadin will be suspected based on circumstantial evidence alone and he is a target that will not suffer any repercussions even if stirred up based on suspicion alone.

Azadin’s supporter who does not belong to any religious order is the divorced Bishop Akenar who entered the religious order. She is a pure priest who does not belong to any of the three religious orders so she is not a very good shield for Azadin.

“I wanted to see more of St. Mallory. I guess I have no choice but to go back to Chadra.”

“Oh Lord Azadin. Would you grant me the honor of standing by your side?”

Heine was embarrassed just by bringing up the subject and he didn’t dare to look her in the eye. Azadin could guess the reason for her sudden change in attitude.

    ‘That’s why I didn’t like it.’

The more Azadin performs miracles the more his goal becomes distant.

Of course when necessary he would use people’s perceptions by saying things like he was the Emperor’s bloodline but he wanted to be reborn as a true Knights Templar who would be followed by people who would uphold virtue on their own.

But most people prioritize the worship of the individual. Sir Heine is not a fool. He himself must know that what he is doing now is counterproductive to Azadin but he is too emotional to control himself.

If even the Sabbath-bringers of the Mercy Order trained as assassins are like this how much more so must others be.

“Of course I know that Lord Azadin has no reason to trust me. How can I prove my loyalty?”

“There is no need for that Sir Heine. I trust you. That is why I want you to remain within the Order of Mercy.”

From Azadin’s perspective it would have been much better if there had been someone within the Mercy Church who would sympathize with him.

“Oh I know. But it’s too bad. I wanted to be with you.”

Heine also knew in his head that his presence in the Order of Mercy would be of greater help to Azadin. But apart from that Heine wanted to be with Azadin right now.

“It’s okay. Even if I can’t see it I won’t forget your devotion.”

“I’m not asking for a public address Sir Azadin. I just… ah I don’t know.”

Heine was at a loss as to what to call the feeling he had for Azadin.

At that moment Azadin grabbed Heine’s hand.

“Sir Heine please keep it a secret that I have laid the Angels of Corruption to rest. I know that as a member of the Order of the Merciful you have a duty to report to your superiors but I cannot help it for the greater good.”

    “Yes sir Azadin. Then ah.”

Then the bell began to ring.

It was the sound of a bell ringing to close the gates.

“Lord Azadin. I will do my best to stop the Mercy Cult but the Wisdom Cult will also be suspicious of you. The fact that the wanted Lord Jibek is with you is already known to all the sects. You should have left the city gates today…”

Heine was genuinely worried about Azadin and asked with great determination.

“If it’s okay with you can I tell you a secret passage that will allow you to get out of the castle gates at night?”

“Thank you Sir Heine. But that’s okay. Allowing me to use the secret passages of the Mercy Church will cause you trouble later.”

Azadin knew what Heine meant. She was offering Azadin a secret passage for the agents of their Order of Mercy.

But that would mean risking Lord Heine’s own life. If it were discovered that Azadin and his party had used the secret passage of the Mercy Church the Church would realize that there was a traitor among them and would immediately punish her.

I don’t want it to be like that.

‘This is so awkward. This is why I didn’t like it.’

It was at the very moment when Azadin defeated the Wendigo in Korathar that he was chosen by the angels. However from then until now he kept the fact that he was chosen by the angels a secret because he was afraid that something like this would happen…

Azadin’s greatest fears came true in a strange way.

“You need not worry about my safety Sir Azadin. Please….”

“No you don’t have to worry too much. I have my own thoughts too. Just accept my heart.”

    “Is that so?”

“Yeah. So speak comfortably. You’ve been using extremely polite language since a while ago. I don’t like that.”

“I am ashamed. But how dare I?”

“The more you do that the harder it becomes to keep them around. Look. When someone who never used to be polite to you suddenly starts using polite language everyone looks at you strangely right?”

Azadin pointed to the suspicious gazes of Zibek and Scott.

“I see. They don’t know about your great mission.”

“I told you not to say that. So Sir Heine keep this a secret.”

“Of course. I will keep this secret with my life.”

“Don’t risk your life. Then go. The Mercy Church will eagerly await your report.”

    “Okay then.”

Heine bowed his head in front of Azadin and left with a look of regret.

“What on earth did you do Captain? Did you cast some kind of charm?”

    Scott asked bewildered.

“She just agrees with my cause.”

“It seems more like a personal worship and passion than agreement with the cause.”

    Jibek couldn’t help but nag.

“There was something that convinced her of my cause. Well I’ll tell you about it later so let’s keep it a secret for now.”

“I understand. However my presence is causing trouble to Lord Azadin.”

“No don’t worry too much about it. Strictly speaking it’s because I’m Aragasa. What? The Knights Templar have never caught anyone who has left the King’s Church.”

Has the Knights Templar ever zealously captured apostate monks or apostate knights of the King’s Church?

    Absolutely not.

Although the King’s Church and the Knights Templar recognize each other as legitimate that is their official position and they both secretly want the other to fall so there is no reason to sweat and shed blood to catch a traitor from the King’s Church.

However it is not Xibek’s fault that he is targeting Azadin’s weakness.

    “So what I’m saying is….”

Azadin took out the gold coins and handed them to Zibek and Scott.

“Buy as many things as you need before you go. We leave tomorrow.”

    “Not now but tomorrow?”

“Anyway the sun has set now and the gates are closed. We should leave tomorrow. I hope nothing happens until then. If anything happens I would like to meet you once. I would also like to establish a relationship with the Order of Wisdom. If possible I would also like to see the Order of Courage.”

Azadin was half anxious and half expectant about how the Wisdom Sect would react.

    *********

The Wisdom Order whose most important Celestial Reincarnation Ceremony site was invaded by mysterious attackers immediately gathered high-ranking priests and paladins to hold a countermeasure meeting.

Grinding the statues of angels to extract their blood reincarnating the Yaegas gods of the Eight Kings who had reached the end of their lives into angel eggs any one of these was something that would cause great criticism.

Moreover not only was his consciousness invaded but clear physical evidence was also taken away.

    The scroll of reincarnation consciousness.

The scroll that was written by the magic master Bukje Cohen Lionaire was stolen.

The high-ranking officers of the Knights of Wisdom gathered at their order’s headquarters the Academy of St. Mallory and began a meeting.

“I told you so. No matter how great the Angel of Corruption is we cannot guarantee our safety with something we cannot control! I have told you this over and over again.”

A senior priest a scholar at the Academy criticized the research team’s security design which attempted to keep secrets by using the angel of corruption and the monsters of the giant’s underground passage as shields.

“Shut up. How dare you say such things when you’ve already cut the budget of the Knights of the Stronghold? We used the Flame of the Dead to utilize the Angels of Corruption because you cut the budget! It’s not enough to praise us for saving on security costs with our magic but you’re mocking us for cutting the budget!”

“The Knights of the Stronghold? I would rather waste my money on those who have never lifted a sword in their entire lives and who only do housework.”

“Okay. Calm down both of you. Why are you arguing with your mouths when you two knights can have a good duel? Later you two can fight each other hard and resolve the issue at hand.”

A young paladin spoke with a broad smile on his face. Surprisingly he looked similar to the leader of the Celestial Fire Karna but with darker skin and darker reddish brown hair.

The bloodline of the Northern Emperor was reincarnated as a Celestial.

He is a Celestial and a descendant of the Northern Emperor just like Karna.

“You said the person who stole the scroll escaped through the underpass? What’s the condition of the underpass? Are the monsters quiet?”

This Celestial Knight asked the Knights of Wisdom who explored the Underground.

“Yes surprisingly even the angels of corruption were silenced.”

The underground passage teeming with angels of corruption and various evil spirits was an impenetrable labyrinth that no one had been able to penetrate until now.

However the enemy surprisingly broke into the underground passage and escaped into the underground passage.

It means that there are people who have the ability to handle the angel of corruption. And such people are extremely limited.

    “Who could be the culprit?”

When the scholar of the Academy asked the knights answered.
