Night of the Soulless Heathens – 311

#311. Sectarian Dispute 1
‘That’s ridiculous. He is a messenger… a soulless blasphemer! A foreigner who committed the great sin of murdering the King! But.’
The word miracle lingered in her mouth.
It’s a word that would cause great trouble if you uttered it.
A knight who performs miracles.
The one who performs miracles under the guidance of angels.
A miracle leader who unites the three separate Orders of the Knights of Salvation.
There was a prophecy that one day a great leader would emerge from the Knights Templar who would unite the three sects into one.
And people now considered Karna the leader of the Celestial Fire to be the leader of this miracle.
Although it was a fact that the Mercy Order could not acknowledge the trend was flowing undeniably in favor of Karna and the Wisdom Order.
But now someone has appeared who can turn that table upside down.
‘No that’s not the problem. This is.’
Heine felt his heart thump.
She actually lost her faith a long time ago.
No it’s not just her.
All the other knights worshipped the blood of angels more than virtue. They turned a blind eye to the reality of the knights losing their divine power and began to become even more obsessed with the blood of angels.
Even the prophecy of the great leader who would bring about great unification was just nonsense to deceive the people. The Wisdom Sect used sorcery to create Karna and the Mercy Sect was trying to turn the tables and seize power for themselves through assassination and conspiracy.
As a member of the Charity Order Heine had lost his faith in virtue and was merely carrying out his assigned duties as a faithful tool of the organization.
But in her heart true faith was sprouting.
‘Ah how cunning. Faith that comes only after seeing a miracle. But really….’
Heine shivered from the ecstasy that welled up from the depths of his chest.

Azadin joined Jet Scott in front of the Van Dyke Chamber of Commerce.
“Gasp… gasp gasp. Ugh. Captain. I need some sugar!”
Scott was suffering from hypoglycemic shock possibly because he had run on his own legs to escape.
But Azadin scoffed.

“You think I’m an idiot. How long has it been since I arrived? If you’re alive now there’s no need to supplement your sugar. It’s another matter if you want to eat something.”
“No Captain. I almost died.”
Orcs whose bodies seemed to be favored by the god of muscle had to risk their lives by sprinting.
Because they have so much muscle their oxygen demand is high and even if their lung capacity can handle it and supply a lot of oxygen hypoglycemic shock sets in next.
Such a life-threatening event from a full-out sprint comes suddenly… so the fact that Scott is alive now means that he has recovered.
“Okay. Here.”
Azadin threw Scott a caramel. With the sugar trade disrupted by the devastation of Btooma the prices of sugar-related products were skyrocketing. This caramel was something Azadin had acquired while he was active in Btooma.
It was a very precious treasure but considering Scott’s activities I didn’t mind giving it to him. Of course I gave it to Zibek as well as Scott.
“Have you achieved your goal Lord Azadin? What happened to Lord Jecht?”
Jibek asked Azadin while receiving the caramel. Instead of answering Azadin took out a spell scroll from his bosom.
“What is this?”
“That’s right. Oh someone just happened to be here.”
Surprisingly the person who appeared in front of the Vandyke Company was the golden-armored knight Sir Jecht.
Zect walked over alone without any subordinates and sat down on the stone wall of the fountain in front of the Van Dyke Company.
“Is it caramel? Can I have one too?”
“….”
Azadin handed it over to Jecht showing a look of regret.
Jibek smiled bitterly.
“You keep your promise Lord Azadin. Do you intend to share the information with Lord Jecht?”
“What happened in the underpass wasn’t my intention. Lord Maya was out of my control.”
Zect stated that the encounter underground was not of his own free will.
Scott laughed.
“You were trying to capture us weren’t you? Are the Yaegasu Shinzou half-human and have short-term memory loss? Oh my. What a pitiful race. How stupid they must be.”
Zect was secretly upset by Scott’s rude words.
“Maya is my disciple and subordinate. I wanted to isolate you so that there would be no casualties from clashing with you.”
“You should lie with your mouth shut Lord Jecht. If you are of noble blood you should keep your dignity.”
Jebeck also complained to Jecht.
“Then would you like to tell me what happened inside?”
“One more.”
As soon as Azadin spoke Heine of the Order of Mercy appeared. She was approaching in her usual form her face covered by a black veil and her robes over steamweave chainmail but her body was shaking for some reason.
“Sir Azaddin I am glad you are safe and well. I am so glad to hear that you are in good health.”
“hmm?”
Azadin was puzzled by Heine’s remarks that spoke highly of his own body.
But soon I dismissed it as just her typical whining.
“I’m running away because I have a bone to pick with. Okay shall we talk?”
Azadin unfolded the scroll explaining the ritual by which the Wisdom Order created the angel’s egg.
The scroll contained spells to reincarnate Count Detre’s soul into an angel’s egg.

The true name of Baron Dert is written on it and it is sealed with a seal so the true name cannot be read until the seal is broken.
But the power flowing from the seal and the power engraved in the letters that wrote the true name were truths that could not be forged.
In other words the signatures or recognition used in these reincarnation spells cannot be falsified.
Anyone who looked at it could see that it was clear evidence that Baron Dert and the Northern Emperor were involved.
“It has the seal of Count Detr and the seal of the Northern Emperor. It’s a magic scroll to reincarnate Count Detr with the magic of the Northern Emperor…”
Jibek groaned.
I knew the Northern Qi was involved in this but I didn’t know they were so deeply involved.
“Yes. And perhaps Karna is the son of the Northern Emperor…”
“You must be a reincarnated Celestial.”
“I guess so.”
Everyone was shocked by the gravity of the situation.
The fame of the Celestial Fire Knights is spreading across the world even at this moment gathering worship from the masses.
But that leader is not a simple child of the Northern Emperor but a reincarnated Celestial?
The fact that the Knights had angel wings and divine powers would already give them control over the common people but the fact that they could also reincarnate humans into Celestials was a tremendous advantage.
“Hmm. In this case if we were to make this fact known wouldn’t people be more likely to join the Northern Qi? Even the nobles of the Yaegas New Royal Family the backbone of the King’s Church will eventually grow old get sick and die. I can’t say for sure that there aren’t some among them who want to be reincarnated as Celestials.”
Zect reached out to Azadin.
“Sir Azadin hand over the scroll. The King’s Church cannot tolerate such a thing. If what is written in the scroll is true we may be able to start a holy war.”
The promise to reincarnate as an angel would undermine the unity of the Yaegas clan and is a clear betrayal of the King’s Church.
It is a temptation of evil heresy that the King’s Church must deal with with all its might.
Zect declared that if the scroll was handed over he would inform the king’s church and proclaim a holy war.
“….”
Heine who insisted that such a thing should never happen and that the dirty deeds of the Knights Templar should be hidden looked at Azadin silently.
“Hmm? Sir Heine? Don’t you have anything to say at this time?”
“Oh yes? Sir Azadin?”
“Do you have anything to say?”
“Oh no.”
“There’s no way you wouldn’t have something to say right?”
Originally Lord Heine was not the type of person to just sit still when Jecht asked him to hand over the scroll.
In the underground sewer she even showed signs of attacking Azadin to steal the scroll. But now she…
I touched Azadin’s hand.
She was touching Azadin’s hand as if she were a worshipper touching an icon of a saint who is said to cure illnesses.
“I saw it…..”
Azadin was no fool and he realized why Lord Heine was acting like this towards him.
“Oh I’m so sorry Lord Azadin. I lost my mind…”
“What does Lord Heine think?”
“I will follow the will of Lord Azadin.”
“No I want you to give your opinion. As a member of the Mercy Order I want to hear what you think.”
“Of course you should not hand over the scroll. Why should you give the hilt of the sword to the King’s Church? Lord Azadin please take hold of the hilt and punish the impious. And lead the wicked and foolish to salvation.”
“That’s not the position of the Mercy Church is it?”
Zibek and Scott blinked not knowing what was going on.
They couldn’t see very well because of the black veil covering his face but they could tell that Heine’s attitude toward Azadin had changed drastically.
‘What on earth happened?’
‘Did the captain use a charm spell? A knight like you wouldn’t be easily affected by a charm spell. Did you fall for the captain because he’s handsome?’
Seebeck and Scott were taken aback by Heine’s sudden change.
Azadin rolled the scroll again.
“Well I’ll take care of this scroll. I feel sorry for Lord Jecht but I think it would be pointless for the two sects to start a holy war right now.”
“If you neglect the Celestial Fire they will grow stronger and gain the worship of the common people. Lord Azadin will you be able to restore your virtues when that time comes?”
“I am not correcting virtue. If I did that I would be no different from the King’s Church. Angels should not save people but people should help angels save angels and save themselves with the power of virtue.”
“Ha. This is an even more disgusting doctrine Lord Azadin. Telling such foolish people to save themselves and even the angels. I understand that you want to believe it but you have no sense of reality.”
Born as a member of the Yaegas tribe Jecht does not usually trust humans. Therefore the doctrine of the virtues of the Salvation Knights that Azadin speaks of is nothing more than an idealism without a solution.
To begin with wasn’t Azadin a being with the Emperor’s blood mixed in?
In addition there is now a great leader chosen by angels.
What is said and what is reality have been separate from the start.
“But you can’t start an internal conflict before that. What I want from you is to crack down on things within your own religious order. As you can see there must be some among the kings and ministers of the eight kingdoms of the Yaegas clan who have been persuaded by the Northern Qi. Investigate them and deal with them as you wish.”
“….”
Zect smiled bitterly at Azadin’s words.
Azadin a soulless blasphemous messenger clan that was looked down upon by all the people of Hybris not just the King’s Church was demanding that Jecht a Yaegas deity respond as a collaborator within the King’s Church.
There’s no reason for Zect to listen to that. He has his own ambitions and plans.
If I had that scroll it would certainly be of great help to my ambitions and plans…
‘…It’s foolish to fight someone chosen by angels. Even if you fight it’s better to fight someone other than me.’
Now that he has learned Azadin’s true identity Jecht has given up on antagonizing Azadin.
“I understand Sir Azadin. Your path will be more difficult than mine. May the scroll be your weapon…”
Zect no longer asked Azadin for the scroll.
