Night of the Soulless Heathens – 307

#308. Miracle Leader 1
The Archangels of the Trinity were originally higher-dimensional beings who did not have material bodies.
However they came down to earth to save humans who were suffering from the ancient gods on this land and created a body for him.
And when that flesh reached its limit the three archangels were no longer able to exert influence in this world and were banished.
If that happens it is clear that the power of the Salvation Knights who receive the power of miracles from the angels and the power of white magic will be broken. With the powerful Nether monsters still remaining losing that power would be no different from telling the Salvation Knights to die.
Therefore the three archangels as higher-dimensional beings resolved to be bound to this world and petrified what little flesh they had left sealing their existence within it.
The divine beings chose to sacrifice themselves solely for humans leaving behind the teaching that the power of white magic would never be broken as long as the doctrine of the three virtues was maintained.
The place where the angels petrified and sealed their bodies that had reached their limits was St. Mallory’s Fortress. In the basement of the fortress there were stone statues of the three archangels and it was said that only the knights who had performed the greatest deeds were given the honor of meeting the statues once a year.
However there were also some common angels who followed the Archangels of the Trinity who chose to be petrified.
And their stone statues were formed here and there around the archangels of the Trinity… but later as Fort St. Mallory grew into a large city it became an obstacle to the expansion of the city and eventually it became necessary to move the angel statues.
So the Order of Wisdom gathered as many stone angels as they could near the Archangels of the Trinity.
The angel statues that were not allowed to be near the Archangels of the Trinity were taken to their own religious order.
However as the petrified angel statues were moved they inevitably ended up getting damaged.
Who would dare to blasphemously destroy the statue of an angel? But when moving stone objects the thin parts would inevitably break and crack.
Blood flowed out from the broken cross-section of the angel statue.
The pious priests and paladins were startled and tried to close the wound but there was no way to stop the blood from flowing from the stone tooth.
But a miracle happened: the wounds of those who touched the blood of the angel were healed and their amputated arms and fingers grew back.
Angel’s blood has mysterious properties.
I found out that fact.
*********
You must not shed the blood of angels.
The Knights of Mercy and Courage were ashamed of the blood of the angels flowing in their veins and wanted to atone for their sins but their abilities were insufficient to restore the stone statues.
The Knights of Wisdom wanted to study this angel blood and a fierce dispute arose between the three knights to the point of sword fighting.
‘We have already committed the sin of defiling the statues of angels but a greater and graver sin is to defile the very idea of angels! To waste the blood that is flowing is an act of treason that defiles the sacrifice of the noble angels!’
The Knights of Wisdom made such claims and studied the blood of angels bringing about various advancements in magic.
And they figured out the recipe for ceramite.

Originally the metal ceramite which burned with holy power was a sword created and given to humans by the three archangels.
The sacred flame had the power to make even the powerful forces of the King’s Church and the Eight Kings Clans not dare to ignore the Knights Templar.
The image of the paladins defeating monsters and protecting humans with their holy sword impressed upon the people that they were truly holy and righteous beings.
Even though I was able to create that ceramite longsword it would be bad if it was known that it came from angel blood and especially from the blood of a damaged angel statue.
Eventually the Order of Courage and Mercy agreed to share the ceramite fairly instead of condoning the actions of the Order of Wisdom.
Everything is for the justice of the church.
But… now Celestials half-human half-angel beings that are not Ceramite have begun to be created.
This was an act of disrespect that the Mercy Order could not possibly tolerate.
In fact it was strange that the production of ceramite weapons continued to be maintained.
The Mercy Order suspected that the Wisdom Order was intentionally damaging the statues of angels in order to obtain their blood.
But what about Celestial?
At first the Wisdom Cult shamelessly claimed that Celestials were born through a ritual of sacred virgin conception.
However after the initial Celestial research was completed the number of Celestials began to increase simultaneously.
‘It is a terrible act of blasphemy to intentionally damage an angel statue for the sake of a ceramite longsword but Celestial….’
Heine shuddered as he imagined the ugly truth of the Wisdom Cult unfolding before his eyes.
We must do everything we can to prevent this from leaking to outsiders.
Jecht Zibek that fucking orc and Azadin too.
Although Azadin was a member of the Salvation Knights in name only… Heine decided that he would eventually have to deal with Azadin as well.
But Azadin was now opening the locked door with his back turned to Heine.
“It’s locked… with magic and chains. Normally it can’t be opened here.”
Azadin checked the status of the inquiry and quietly concentrated his thoughts.
Arael’s voice materialized according to Azadin’s consciousness releasing the magic from the lock and separating the chains inside the door.
Azadin who had neutralized all magical and mechanical devices including the physical locks and chains was able to easily open the door.
Although the magic of the Wisdom Cult was quite precise it was not difficult for Azadin who had inherited the abilities of Arael one of the strongest magicians of the Herald Clan.
“Amazing Sir Azadin. Your magical skills are truly outstanding and precise. To have achieved such progress in such a short period of time without the help of the New King’s Book you are truly an outstanding magician. All the magicians in the world will pale in comparison to your talents.”
Jecht grumbled behind him. It was Jecht’s grumbling that Azadin had taken a copy of the New King’s Book but Azadin laughed it off.
“If you’ve read the Book of the New King you’ll know. Was there a magic to open doors in the Book of the New King? Oh but isn’t Lord Jecht’s power derived from necromancy and nether magic?”
“Captain. I know it’s a bit odd for me to say this but how about you both just shut up? Even if humans are just beasts that are swayed by emotions shouldn’t you be able to tell when they’re talking and when they’re not?”
Scott scolded Azadin and Jecht.
That was absolutely right so they both kept their mouths shut.
Entering inside a wide underground warehouse appeared. It seemed as if a new building was being built on top of the original giant-era building and a lot of stone foundations were piled up and various miscellaneous items that could get wet were stored in the gaps created by the foundations.
And there’s blood on the floor.
There were traces of people dragging bloody lives along the road perhaps to throw away experimental creatures for magical research.
And there was also a strong smell of beast secretions and excrement.
‘It smells not much different from the research labs of socialites.’
Azadin frowned and stepped forward in a muffled voice.

Azadin and Heine can move silently but sadly Seebeck and Jecht make a sound whenever they move.
“You guys wait here.”
“What kind of stupid things are you talking about…?”
Zect refused to obey Azadin’s orders.
“I am working with you to see the secrets of the Rescue Knights.”
“If you want to see that secret it might be better not to have to squeak around here and there.”
“If you guys just go and see each other and keep your mouths shut….”
“Let’s be honest Lord Jecht. You and I both have a rough idea of what the Rescue Knights are going to do right?”
When Azadin asked that Jecht flinched.
“Even if you see it with your own eyes there’s no solid evidence if the Knights Templar deny it. If something truly blasphemous and terrible is being done the Knights Templar will never admit it without some kind of evidence. Right?”
“What are you trying to say?”
“What I’m looking for is a link to the Northern Qi. There’s no reason not to share that information with you. Do you understand what I mean?”
I will not cooperate with Zect in finding a weakness that could destroy the Rescue Knights. Finding such a weakness is realistically impossible anyway.
On the other hand how do the Wisdom Sect and the Northern Qi cooperate how far are they connected and how strong is that connection?
There is no reason why such diverse information related to the Northern Qi should not be shared.
That’s what Azadin was saying.
Sadly what Azadin said was quite reasonable.
“Okay. Then I’ll wait here.”
“No but before that Captain. There’s a very high chance that Lord Jecht will take us hostage. And that human is a necromancer too. He could kill us or try to grind the psychic offering.”
“I won’t do that.”
As Zect said that Azadin smiled.
“Is that so?”
“I can’t believe it.”
“So will you promise me on your honor?”
Zect frowned.
“It may vary depending on the situation but at least today we will not use Sir Azadin’s absence to bind or subdue them.”
“A promise to not cause harm and to actively cooperate in common missions.”
“….”
Is this orc making fun of me the inquisitor of the King’s Church?
Zect wanted to say that but… it was a shame.
In fact he didn’t know that he would make it this far safely. After fighting the Angel of Corruption when he heard another Angel of Corruption howling underground he also had a gut feeling that his mission was a failure.
I didn’t expect that we would make it to the heart of the Rescue Knights without much damage. I had to make the most of this situation. I couldn’t mess things up by fighting with the orcs here.
“I swear.”
“If that’s the case.”
Azadin sneaked inside with Heine.
There were locked doors everywhere he went and even the doors were locked so that they could only open on one side but Azadin opened them with magic and cautiously stepped inside. No matter how great a locksmith he was he couldn’t open a locked door so usually if they were locked or sealed with chains people would let their guard down so there were no special guards inside.
“Sir Azadin. Wait a minute…..”
“what?”
“Are you really going to reveal the Knights’ corruption in front of Lord Jecht? Even if the matter becomes known shouldn’t it be resolved within the Knights?”
“Oh really…?”
Azadin smiled bitterly.
“You’re already thinking about the future when you haven’t even achieved anything yet.”
“Of course I know that this is a mistake like counting the price of furs while looking at the forest. But it is also arrogant and foolish to do something without looking far ahead. Lord Jecht will have a hard time dealing with it. He fought the Angel of Decay and was not injured or greatly exhausted.”
The Jecht Lord is a tough opponent to handle. That’s what Heine was saying.
But then Azadin covered her mouth.
The sound of a newborn baby crying could be heard from far away.
‘What is this?’
Heine asked writing on Azadin’s palm.
‘I think we came to the right place.’
Azadin wrote on her palm and carefully headed towards the sound of the child’s cries.
