    #306. St. Mallory Underpass 4

    Orc wizards are capable.

Heine was initially dissatisfied but he had no choice but to admit that point.

Scott cast an Auracite spell while having the undead pull the boat.

It was a magic that made it easy to detect living creatures and beings moving through necromancy even in the dark.

“Oh over there what kind of wood is it?”

Scott who discovered an enemy that was impossible to distinguish with the naked eye because it was like a sludge that had accumulated at the bottom of a sewage pipe sends out the undead. Woods jumps out from the water grabs the undead and discharges electricity from his entire body to electrocute and swallow the undead.

If they were a normal living being? No matter how trained a knight or warrior was if they were sucked into the mud while paralyzed by the electric shock they would suffer the agony of burning flesh until they were digested by the ooze.

Even if Heine was confident in his skills the surprise attack by Electric Woods just now was scary to watch.

    however….

    “Bone slug!”

Scott cast the spell as if it were nothing.

Bone spearheads shot out from the entire body of the undead that had been captured by Woods tearing Woods apart.

    “Gluttony of the Ghoul!”

At Scott’s command a red aura surrounded the undead and they ran forward picked up the shattered Electric Ooz and ate them. The Electric Ooz also released digestive fluids to melt the undead and eat them and released electricity from its body to attack the undead but the undead took the blows and managed to swallow the Electric Ooz into their bodies.

    “Still great Scott.”

“Well this isn’t a big deal for a genius of all time.”

Scott said it was no big deal and continued to look ahead.

Among the sewage and garbage heaps there was an altar of the cultists and from there this time young boys suddenly appeared.

They were still young boys but they were suffering while wearing animal skins.

And behind them was a strange blood-stained altar of bones.

Are they cultists who worship an unknown god?

    Then the boys approached.

“Ugh… We just came here because we didn’t want to pay the pickpocketing fine…”

“Help me! This won’t come off!”

The boys cried and begged Azadin and his men for rescue.

It was a bizarre and pitiful sight.

    “How can I help you?”

Azadin placed his hands on Aurelia Dunn and the executioner of Qing and asked.

“If you soak this leather with your blood I think you can peel it off!”

The children instantly turn into beasts and attack Azadin and his group.

    “Oh my.”

Of course Azadin did not trust them from the beginning so as soon as they attacked he swung his sword and axe and cut off their heads.

Heine also destroyed the boys who rushed at him with the knuckle Dusk Bite of both hands. He accurately struck their vital points and burned the wounds with ceramite preventing them from regenerating.

A normal person would die instantly if their spinal cord was pierced but the beast-like boys were unable to die and instead writhed their bodies groaning in strange ways.

‘I thought that guy from the famous Jeonryeong clan would be strong but the other guys aren’t ordinary either.’

Heine was surprised again. He thought it was because Azadin was defeating his enemies with autumn leaves.

However Scott the orc necromancer and even Zebeck’s abilities were unexpected.

Jibek swings his sword slicing the necks and knees of the beasts that rush towards him then dances away.

Scott used his necromancy to subdue and secure the corpses of the cultists that Azadin and Zibek had defeated while giggling.

I had consumed a lot of corpses on my way here so I thought this would be a good opportunity to replenish them.

    ‘I have to be careful.’

Heine thought about it and carefully conveyed the situation to his mind.

[We are currently passing through blocks 2-7. This messenger clan guy and those he brought are quite powerful.]

Just as the King’s Church had been exploring underground from their parishes and drawing underground passages the Charity Order also had its own map of the underground passages. As Heine passed through the passages on the map he made mental contact with the Situation Room.

[Sir Heine. The pace is fast. Don’t overexert yourself and just wear them out.]

The situation room requested Heine not to directly participate in the battle and to cause more casualties to Azadin’s party. It seems that they thought that Heine was actively participating in the battle because the battle was progressing too quickly.

[I’m just making up the numbers. These guys are good. There seem to be more demons and alien cultists than usual…]

[Understood. Be careful Lord Heine. A surge of magical energy has been detected underground. It seems likely that the Angel of Corruption is at work.]

At that moment her telepathy with the command center was cut off.

Indeed a magical storm was observed raging within the sewer and bugs and rats were startled and moved about in unison.

    “This is…..”

“It seems like an angel of corruption.”

    Zibek offered his opinion.

“Scott! Can you tell me the direction?”

    “Of course Captain.”

Scott cast a spell on one of the undead under his control. The cultist undead raised both arms forward and spun around in a certain direction pointing in that direction.

“It’s a bit confusing underground because it points to the shortest distance but I can feel it from here.”

“Then I guess I can avoid that side.”

Azadin moved west avoiding the direction Scott’s necromancy directed him to.

However the underpass was so complexly twisted that it was impossible to avoid it.

The problem was especially the movement of the angel of corruption.

From beyond the underpass people’s screams and the sound of weapons clashing could be heard.

    “Hmm. Huh?”

At that moment Scott was surprised.

    “why?”

    “It’s gone!”

    “Disappearing?”

“It looks like someone got rid of the angel of corruption.”

    “Huh? That’s impossible.”

Heine who was listening was terrified. The reason why this underground space which was the headquarters of the Knights of Salvation had to be left to be infested with monsters was because of the Angel of Corruption. The Knights of Salvation suffered so much damage from the appearance of such powerful monsters that they simply blocked the entrance to the underground space to prevent the Angel of Corruption from coming out.

The Angel of Corruption was trapped in this labyrinth not knowing how to find his way so simply blocking the entrance would have prevented the sacrifice.

In other words the Angels of Corruption were monsters that were sealed and left alone because even with the power of the Knights Templar touching them would cause more harm than good.

So is that angel of corruption being defeated?

    *********

Inquisitor Jecht smiled bitterly and stroked his armor.

The armor with golden decorations was soaked in blood and some of it was showing signs of surface corrosion from acidic solutions emitting acrid toxic fumes.

    “Ugh…..”

Around that Zect Zect’s subordinates were scattered.

“Heal those you can save and give rest to those you cannot save. If you die here you will become a monster.”

    Zect said so and frowned.

Even those who could have been saved had lost their fighting ability. Half of the members were killed and a quarter were wounded so in military terms it could be called a total annihilation.

We haven’t even gone that far yet we’re just at the entrance and yet we’re met by the Angel of Corruption.

“By the way what on earth is this? It looks like the corpse of an angel…”

Jecht looked at the angel of corruption he had defeated. The corpse of a creature with angel wings much larger than a normal human about nine feet tall lay among the sewage.

Its body was covered in rotten decaying flesh slime and insects and although it had been incapacitated by Jecht’s sword and magic it appeared as if it had temporarily lost its power source and was asleep.

When the magic power of this underground passage becomes sufficient won’t it rise up and become active again?

When I think about it that way it’s a shame that so many of my subordinates died just to subdue this monster for a little while.

“Isn’t this itself a symbol of the corruption of the Salvation Knights? It looks like they’ve done some strange research with the corpse of an angel… If they bring this corpse back to the surface it seems like they’ll be able to prove their corruption.”

Jecht carefully examined the corpse of the Angel of Decay and used magical language to analyze the corpse.

    “ah.”

At that moment a group of people appeared from the side of the underpass.

Azadin Heine Seebeck and Scott happened to show up here and confront Jecht.

    “….”

It was a difficult situation for Jecht. He had exhausted all his energy and magic from fighting the Angel of Corruption and why did he have to meet Azadin at this time?

“Lord Jecht. What brings you here?”

    Jibek asked.

“Let me ask you something. Lord Zibek. Aren’t you wanted? Of course you didn’t really kill another Zadek but if so shouldn’t you turn yourself in to the sect and declare your innocence? Why would you turn yourself in and act with the sect?”

“Because I can’t trust the church Lord Jecht.”

“Haha. Are you saying now that you distrust the church? The doctrines and laws of the King’s Church?”

“Do not equate doctrine and law with the organization of the church Lord Jecht. Do you not know how many innocent people have been sacrificed and their voices silenced by such wordplay? Distrusting the organization of the church does not mean betraying the church’s law or justice! Isn’t it the greedy high priests who have betrayed the true doctrine law and justice!?”

“Hmm. If you say that to me then so be it.”

Zect was surprised to see Zibek protesting back at him. The Zibek he knew was not someone who would speak up for himself like this.

Is it because I’ve accumulated a lot of things? Or is it because I made bad friends(?)?

“I saw you on the way here but Sir Maya has become a wearbore. Did you know that?”

“Oh that was a sad accident.”

“As far as I can see you were the one leading Lord Maya’s new troops. But you’re neither dead nor injured and yet the young knight who followed you had such a regrettable accident? That’s really strange. As far as I know the young knights who followed you often get involved in such accidents!?”

Jibek was criticizing Jecht for deliberately allowing Maya to become a wearbore.

But Zect turned a blind eye.

“You know that the duties of a Paladin are arduous and dangerous. Isn’t the fact that they encounter many accidents proof of their sincere performance of duties?”

“Yes I suppose so. However I cannot agree with that so I will try to prove my innocence and restore my honor in my own way. If you truly believe that I am innocent please do not interfere.”

But at that moment Jecht shook his head and drew his sword.

The sound of blades slicing and chopping echoed through the subway.

“Hmm. That is difficult. If we cannot bring to trial the person suspected of being the king’s murderer how can we spread the king’s laws in the world? Therefore Lord Jibek if you trust in the justice of the sect entrust that new soldier to us….”

He was asking me to hand over the new recruits but it was clearly a threat.

“Lord Jecht. Even if you are Lord Jecht you must have been exhausted just now from defeating that monster.”

Jibek did not back down here either.

As the former master and disciple drew their swords and confronted each other Jecht’s men who were also battered and wounded hurriedly picked up their weapons.

‘Fighting the Inquisitor of the King’s Church…?’

It was a suffocating situation for Heine.
