    #302. Avengers of Vengeance 5

    “Ugh. These kids…..”

Azadin clicked his tongue as he watched the younger messengers his juniors attack.

Fierce attacks come from all directions.

Although he is inferior to Azadin he is not shameful as the Emperor’s messenger.

    however….

‘What are you doing in a place with so many civilians?’

Azadin spun Grimslow’s club axe around to ward off the incoming arrows.

As he struck back with both feet another arrow flew towards Azadin’s neck but Azadin leaned to the side and caught the arrow flying into his quiver.

The arrow was sucked into the quiver by itself.

“I guess he’s not just a simple loser.”

“Well if you don’t have the skills you wouldn’t even be a traitor!”

    “Be careful!”

One of them fell back and continued to shoot arrows to keep them at bay while the other two tightened the encirclement.

Azadin was stunned as he watched the assassins rush towards him firing arrows at him.

I knew that since I was a traitor to my clan the clan’s assassins would come for me but these kids?

    “…I will join.”

As Jibek reached for his sword Azadin stopped him.

“No take care of Scott. There might be other guys waiting behind you.”

I want to solve the problems of the messenger clan among the messenger clan members.

Thinking so Azadin unleashed his Hwa-jo-pung-wol-geom-wild spider to dodge the flying arrows and approach the nearest assassin.

    “This loser!”

The young messenger who was clearly a lower rank than Azadin spread his ground spider and closed the short distance in an instant stabbing Azadin with his sword instead.

However Azadin was able to surpass the speed of the messenger who was rushing forward by repeatedly using the Kazas Sea Spider from the Pure Magic Spider.

    “no!?”

The young messenger who had been caught from behind spun around and kicked Azadin. Sharp iron spikes were sticking out from the heels of his boots making it dangerous to get hit by the kick and even if they grazed it seemed like the flesh would fall off.

    however….

    -Pfft!

Azadin kicked the boy messenger’s hip out of the air.

The boy messenger’s body spun around like a thrown stick and crashed into the railing of the bridge sliding down and grinding against the edge of the railing. He was wearing armor so his skin didn’t get torn but the blow was enough to take away his fighting ability in an instant.

    “this guy!”

Another boy messenger armed with two daggers appeared above Azadin’s head using the magic of mistletoe and struck fiercely but Azadin did not even look at him.

    -Bam!

Grimslow’s club lifted the boy messenger’s chin.

    “no?!”

Then Azadin used his magic and a thin lightning bolt fell from the sky striking the messenger girl who was standing in the distance and knocking her down.

In an instant three young messengers were subdued by one Azadin.

“I left my clan but I’m worried about the future. Is this the level of skill you have as a messenger?”

The young and unconscious messengers had to listen to Azadin the worst dullard in the history of the messenger clan worrying about the future of the messenger clan.

    ‘This is such a shame….’

    *********

Firewinter was hit by an arrow but it was not an arrow aimed at him but rather a loose piece of arrow that had flown out during the fierce battle so he was not seriously injured.

The feather layer was so thick that even a little bird was safe.

“You must have survived because you had so much fur. If it was shedding season or if you had hair loss it could have been dangerous.”

Azadin clicked his tongue when he saw that the arrowhead was poisoned.

The Herald Clan does not use poison especially when fighting among themselves for the position of Herald.

This meant that the Heralds no longer considered Azadin as one of their own and did not recognize the Heralds’ hierarchy that Azadin held.

Before the Emperor’s voice disappeared only Azadin was recognized as a herald but the herald clan reorganized and created a hierarchy among themselves regardless of the Emperor’s choice.

“Now that I’m famous this is the problem. I’m being pursued by two organizations in one day.”

Azadin lamented as he tied up the young messengers of the Herald Clan with rope.

    Then Jibek coughed in vain.

“I don’t know if it’s an organization but it looks like another one has come.”

    “What is it this time?”

When Azadin turned his head the man carrying the sign put the sign down in front of Azadin.

The sign read ‘Paid Tarasar Saber Swordsmanship Lessons.’

“Are you the renowned messenger Sir Azadin?”

    “A messenger? I am Azadin.”

“Then please give me a hand!”

It seemed that Azadin had become too famous so he was a wandering swordsmanship teacher who came to steal his fame.

Azadin sighed. If he had become this famous the moment he entered a big city all sorts of people would surely start taunting him whether they had a grudge against him or not.

“You don’t have any particular grudge against me do you? Then I’ll accept the duel fee.”

“Huh? You mean the duel fee?”

“Yes. It is one of the Emperor’s gold coins.”

    “Isn’t that… profiteering?”

“As a member of the herald clan it is only natural that the minimum cost for me to grant someone’s request is the Emperor’s gold. If you don’t have any then go somewhere and get some. Okay that’s all for now.”

Azadin gave him the order to leave and waved his hand.

    however….

He rummaged through his pockets and took out a gold coin.

Surprisingly it was the emperor’s gold coin.

“You won’t be dissatisfied with this right?”

    “Uh… Really?”

“Well then I am the Ahalir of Tarasar! I challenge you to a fair fight!”

    -Pfft!

Azadin grabbed Ahaji by the collar swept his legs up to head height and then pinned him to the floor.

Even though he fell on his torso it must have been a huge impact since he fell straight from head height.

    “Ugh!”

“No I asked for the Emperor’s gold coin with my own mouth but I never expected it to actually come out.”

Azadin took the emperor’s gold coin from Aharajri and examined it. To his surprise it was genuine.

Azadin took it and instead took out another gold coin and gave it to Ahaji.

“Hey! Wait! That’s invalid! How dare you launch a surprise attack without even giving a signal to start? That’s cowardly!”

    “Okay. Let’s get started.”

“Okay then! This time for real!”

Ahaji drew his sword again and lunged at Azadin but Azadin snapped his fingers and a lightning bolt flew paralyzing Ahaji.

    “Kkaaaak!”

“Oh I see… So are you satisfied now?”

Azadin asked kicking Ahaji’s chin as he fell to the ground from the electric shock.

“Where is the use of magic in a poetry contest?”

“Oh it was a match? I thought it was a duel.”

“I’m doing this to defeat you and show off my swordsmanship! Of course it’s a swordsmanship match!”

“But my reputation doesn’t mean that I’m known for my great swordsmanship. If I were to use all of my abilities including magic against your swordsmanship wouldn’t your reputation as a swordsman be enhanced?”

“Ugh anyway it’s invalid! It’s invalid! You know how valuable the Emperor’s gold coins are right?”

“So out of conscience I gave you change in gold. Well I understand. If you wish to fight me with a sword.”

    Azadin heard Aurelia Dunn.

“Whew. Okay. Then recover a bit and….”

“Is this okay? Shall we begin?”

When Azadin asked the man named Ahaji who had been standing held out his hand as Azadin walked toward him.

“Wait a minute! I haven’t recovered yet! I was thrown by you and hit with magic… I haven’t recovered!”

“…It’s starting to get annoying. There are a lot of guests coming today.”

Although the Emperor’s gold coins are valuable to the messengers they are not particularly needed now that their service contracts have been terminated. They simply collect the Emperor’s gold coins out of a sense of duty.

“Ah I don’t think I’ll be able to recover in just one day. So would you mind returning the Emperor’s gold coin?”

    “….”

“If you hadn’t attacked me with surprise and magic in the first place this wouldn’t have happened!”

Then funny enough the young messengers who had been captured by Azadin grumbled.

    “That’s the truth.”

    “That’s right. That’s totally true.”

    “Did you hear that?”

As he spoke Azadin handed him the emperor’s gold coin.

“I’ll refund you. Give me the gold.”

“Oh I see. This was a surprise attack so my body isn’t in perfect condition. Hmm.”

Ahalji received the emperor’s gold coins from Azadin and gave him the gold coins he had received as change. Then the young and middle-aged messengers who were watching warned Azadin.

“Check if it’s the same gold coin.”

“The corners might have been cut.”

“You bastards! I the Ahalji of Tarasar would not do such a dirty thing!”

    “Phew.”

Azadin sighed as he looked at the young messengers and Ahaji.

“Hey guys when you attack me from now on don’t use poison arrows. Animals and other people can die as well. If you just follow that I’ll treat you as challenging a high-ranking messenger.”

“What? Don’t make me laugh. We’re trying to kill you…”

“I was going to kill you because you were an enemy of my clan! Of course I had to be fully prepared and use everything I could including poison!”

Then this time Ahaji laughed at the young messengers.

“That means they are aware that their skills are lacking. They say they will kill me even if it means poisoning me because their skills are no longer enough. They admit that they are more incompetent and go in. They really don’t know what honor is.”

“Hey why has this little punk been crawling since a while ago?”

“You little rascal who whined about losing the gold you promised how dare you insult the Herald Clan? We’re the Herald Clan! We’re called Aragasa! Don’t you know?”

“It’s ridiculous to threaten someone while tied up with rope after losing.”

“I’ll let you go but do you want to fight amongst yourselves first?”

When Azadin asked like that Ahalji became quiet. Even with his skills it was difficult to defeat these young boys and girls of the messenger clan.

Scott said something after seeing that.

“Whew. Why are humans so stupid? The tongue is a sword that cuts the body. I understand that they do stupid things because they are uneducated and lack intelligence but it’s understandable that they should have that level of wisdom if not instinct.”

    “….”

It was amazing to see Scott telling them to be careful with their mouths. Azadin untied the ropes that bound the young messengers.

“Don’t use poison. Don’t harm other creatures around you. If you do this again I’ll put out your eyes.”

    “Ugh…..”

    “Next time too?”

“Are you really going to let us live to shame us? Just kill us instead!”

The young messengers were at a loss their emotions a mixture of joy at being released and shame at being shown mercy by Azadin.

“That’s why I won’t kill you. I’ll just gouge out your eyes instead of killing you. You know how merciless the Aragasa are to the weak don’t you? If you can’t even be a messenger or a servant because you don’t have eyes how will you treat your friends who have been with you until now and even your families?”

    “….”

The young messengers were shocked to hear Azadin’s words. It was true that the Aragasa were cruel to the weak just as he said. Wasn’t Azadin the living proof of that? Thinking about that it was understandable that he hated his clan and did such things.

Although he is sparing them now Azadin is not lying when he says he will gouge out their eyes next time.
