    #295. Kingslayer Jibek 1

Fatigue weighs on Azadin. He feels an irresistible pull as if the floor were a giant magnet and his body was a lump of iron stuck to it.

But Azadin pushed the bed away and struggled to get up.

I couldn’t change my clothes so I stank all over but I didn’t have time to change clothes or wash.

Azadin came out drenched in sweat.

In the middle of the village a pot was hanging boiling beans vegetables and meat. It seemed like everyone was eating the soup by scooping it up and eating it with bread.

Azadin also approached to eat the soup.

“Oh please sit here. You are awake Sir Azadin.”

Izmila recognized Azadin and gestured to him.

She wasn’t the only one welcoming Azadin.

All the other Celestials around her were happy to see Azadin.

    “Welcome!”

    “Sir Azadin!”

    “….”

Azadin looked at the faces of the Celestials welcoming him.

They all appear to be young boys and girls in their late teens.

Seeing their youthful appearance unlike when they were wearing armor and helmets it became understandable that Aramis’ command was inexperienced.

‘But I can’t seem to get used to it. How can you make such a friendly expression?’

The Celestials welcomed Azadin as one of their own.

Azadin approached Izmila and sat down next to her accepting their hospitality.

“Ah. First of all Celestial Fire Knights. Thank you for rescuing me last night. I truly owe you my life.”

“Ah. Sir Azadin wouldn’t have died there.”

Izmila said that because she knew Azadin’s abilities well. She was completely convinced that Azadin could build himself up whenever he wanted.

“No I’m wearing a life jacket. Really. But what about Bree?”

“Bree is running away in a panic.”

Another knight spoke as he handed Azadin a bowl of soup.

As Azadin bows to her and takes the bowl her hand touches the back of his hand and then lightly hovers between his index fingers.

When Azadin paused for a moment wondering what to do she was touching Azadin’s hand looking at him with curiosity.

“Oh I’m sorry. I accidentally did it.”

    “Accidentally?”

    “Can I touch it too?”

    Another knight spoke to Azadin.

    “Touching?”

    “That’s right. I guess that’s a bit rude of a request isn’t it?”

“No I said I was wearing a life jacket so if you want to touch it then do it. But why?”

“Our brothers and sisters of course all of the Rescue Knights are brothers and sisters but besides us we have never seen anyone with such good looks and great skills. So we made a bet to see if you were really a Celestial or not. If we touch you we can tell if you are a Celestial or not.”

    “Huh? What did you say?”

    Azadin felt bewildered.

So they suspected that Azadin might be a Celestial because of his handsome appearance and outstanding skills.

    “It’s not Celestial.”

“But sometimes people don’t even know their own births?”

“Then. Would a hand be enough?”

Azadin reached out to her in confusion.

A silver-haired girl who looked to be in her late teens stroked Azadin’s hand and shook her head.

“I don’t know because of the gloves.”

    “Me too.”

Since it was time to eat anyway Azadin took off his gloves. Then she happily took Azadin’s hand and stroked it.

“Um. No. I’m still not sure. If you don’t mind can I touch your face?”

    “I didn’t wash it.”

    “Hey we couldn’t wash either.”

    “….”

It was an absurd and sometimes rude request but Azadin had told them that he had received a lifesaving gift so he had no reason to refuse.

    “You can touch it.”

    “yes.”

The silver-haired girl caressed Azadin’s cheek and looked straight into his eyes.

    “Wow.”

    “What do you think?”

“You’re not a Celestial?! How can this be? But why are you so pretty?”

    “Pretty?”

Azadin was bewildered by the girl’s absurd behavior using rhetoric that was unbecoming of a grown man.

Suddenly he looked at the gazes pouring down on him.

The boys and girls all of whom had beautiful features had the same expression on their faces. Azadin suddenly felt scared.

Ignorance and innocence when they go too far can even feel alienating. It’s like seeing another race that humans cannot understand.

‘Sir Izmila was quite a worldly person.’

Azadin found the discrepancy odd that their minds were even more youthful than their outward appearances.

    Then Izmila clapped her hands.

“What are you all doing to the guests!? Step back so I can eat.”

    “Tch.”

“Sir Izmila enjoys all the fun by herself.”

    “No.”

Izmila kicked out the other Celestial Fire members.

They all returned to their seats but they were still glancing at Azadin.

“Are you surprised? My brothers and sisters are not familiar with the ways of the world because they live only in the monastery.”

“It’s not that bad? But why is the Celestial Fire coming this way?”

“We came here to protect the grain that will be sent to Fireglyph. And recently there have been many people attacked by monsters in various places so we are also here to defeat them and win the hearts of the people.”

In other words these Celestial Fires were envoys requesting food supplies from the Fireglyphs.

But on the way he defeats monsters and saves the residents. Although from Fireglyph’s perspective there are no heroes as great as the tax collectors and residents who collect ridiculous taxes.

We will make the existence of Celestials clear to the people and instill loyalty to the Order.

“So Sir Azadin would you like to join us?”

    “Together? I’m not a Celestial?”

“That’s not what I meant. As you can see we are using a mass cavalry operation system. But then there would be no one to command the infantry or archers.”

Cavalry only become meaningful as a fast and tactical group when they are grouped together.

The problem then is that we need a commander to lead the infantry… and that’s what we’re asking Azadin to do.

“Are you telling me to become a servant?”

“You become the leader of the sect.”

“You’re not suggesting that to me?”

“Oh of course it hasn’t been decided. It’s up to the commander Lord Karna to decide not me. But isn’t the reputation of the soldiers extraordinary?”

The soldiers here clearly watched Azadin rescue the soldiers who were on guard duty and fight bravely single-handedly holding off the initial offensive.

What impressed the townspeople the most were the Celestial Fires that spread their angel wings and charged but the soldiers remembered the figure of Azadin who risked his life to save them.

“So would you mind if I recommended you to the captain?”

“Hmm? The leader of the Celestial Fire corps.”

From a political standpoint it was a groundbreaking proposal that there was no reason to refuse.

The world’s attention and praise will be focused on the Celestials who have the blood of angels and the wings of angels but the position in charge of the infantry formations consisting of archers infantry and hoplites will effectively be the second-in-command position after the captain.

It’s obvious that the real power of the Salvation Knights who have the support and admiration of the people will all go to Celestial Fire so you’re asking me to take on the important task of Celestial Fire?

    “ha ha ha.”

    Then laughter was heard.

“Sir Izmilla. You have a short temper.”

Karna the leader of the Celestial Fire was approaching.

The townspeople were startled and rose from their seats to bow their heads to him but he simply waved his hand once and walked along comfortably accepting their respect. It was as if he were a king inspecting the progress of his people.

But can it really fit like this?

“Sir Azadin. As Sir Ismilla has mentioned I would like to offer you the position of Chief of the Order. Will you accept?”

“Are you sure it’s okay? As you know my birth status is….”

“I have heard from the soldiers that you commanded them in times of crisis. If it weren’t for the warning lines you installed they wouldn’t have survived the enemy’s night attack. Your command of the right time and place according to the situation is all your merit. To be honest I was a bit uneasy as a commander even though Sir Aramis was a warrior but you filled that void. You were great.”

    “Ha… you are flattering me.”

    Azadin sighed.

The Karna in front of you is a young man with fiery red hair and is impeccable.

He has a friendly personality and doesn’t question Azadin’s origins.

He is aware of his high status and secretly treats others poorly but isn’t his actual status actually royalty?

Azadin who was not very respectful to others was secretly respectful to Karna.

Perhaps it is because he himself admits that he was rescued by him.

‘But why do I feel such strong rejection?’

Azadin didn’t like the concept of Celestials from the beginning.

The belief of the Salvation Knights is that… if you maintain virtue you will be saved.

But if a being with angel wings stands in front of people and rescues them the virtues of each individual lose their meaning.

The reason the Knights Templar have been a laughing stock to others up until now is not only because their knights are weaker than those of the King’s Church but also because they neglect virtue.

But the existence of the Celestial Fire Knights is such that their power beautiful appearance and noble bloodline that they deserve to be worshipped only suppress their mission of virtue and call for only worship.

That’s why Azadin feels aversion towards the Celestial Fire Knights.

An organization deliberately created to arouse the worship of men. When the glory of victory is added to this the individual human being disappears and only the worship of the sacred blood remains.

Azadin’s involvement here was a betrayal of his beliefs.

‘But I wonder if I’m being stubborn under the pretext of my beliefs.’

As Azadin hesitated Karna smiled bitterly.

“Well I guess it’s difficult to answer because it’s a question of where to go?”

“Yes. It’s a bit difficult to answer right here…”

    That’s when Azadin said that.

Suddenly there was a commotion in the southeast.

    “Catch him!”

    “No what is it?!”

When Azadin turned his head to see the soldiers’ uproar he saw a disc of bluish light flying towards him.

    “uh?”

As Azadin reflexively stretched out his arm the disc stopped spinning and was sucked into Azadin’s hand.

It was… the head of an axe made of Azuresteel.

The head of the Azuresteel axe has a deformed wooden handle filled with sap attached to it.

The executioner’s club and Grimslow’s club that Azadin had previously used had combined to form a large axe and that axe was flying at Azadin.
