Night of the Soulless Heathens – 294

#294. Celestial Fire 8
‘There’s nothing to worry about.’
Azadin set out to save the villagers.
There was no need for any other options in the first place.
If I back off here I can survive on my own but then everything I’ve lived up to now will be in vain.
Azadin ran forward to rescue the guards first.
The night watchmen who had been awake and standing guard alone in the darkness of the night were the first to be attacked by Bree and were holding them back. If they did not help maintain the defense line waves of enemies would rush in in an instant.
“Firewinter!”
When Azadin called the hippogriff responded.
The hippogriff kicked off the ground and flew up then dived down on the enemies saving the sentries.
“Ah! Sir Azadin!?”
“Stand back. Firewinter and I will hold off for a moment! While we’re at it wake up the people and get them in line!”
Azadin declared that he would stand alone in place of the sentries and hold back the enemy forces.
This is absolutely ridiculous! Even the sentries paused and looked at Azadin…
Azadin drew his ceramite longsword showing no intention of retracting his statement.
His blade was burning evaporating the falling raindrops.
“Let’s go!”
Azadin charged forward slashing at the Breedles threatening Firewinter and climbing onto Firewinter.
“jump!”
The hippogriff flies up briefly using its weight to swoop down on Breedle.
As the ranks of the Bridle crumbled under the impact Azadin leapt from his saddle and cut down the enemies with his hippogriff and when it seemed that the enemy would surround him he mounted his hippogriff again and broke away.
By repeatedly disengaging and assaulting he was turning the enemy lines into a wasteland and he was truly single-handedly holding off the enemy’s attacks.
But the rain continued to fall darkness grew thick and the enemies continued to advance. And there were still soldiers left in the village who were isolated and facing the enemies that Azadin had not been able to rescue.

“What is it Sir Azadin?”
Only after several assaults by Azadin did Aramis emerge not even properly armored.

“It’s Bree’s attack. What about the armor?!”
“First of all how did you wear the breastplate? How much is it? Huh… a lot?!”
The eyes of Aramis a Celestial lit up and pierced the darkness to confirm the number of Breedles.
‘So you should have done as I said.’
Azadin wants to nag Aramis and the other knights for ignoring his opinion but nagging them now won’t change the situation.
The only thing that changes is that their resentment is placed on Azadin.
Azadin pointed to the road beyond the watermill.
“Cross the bridge and evacuate the men over there! Then I’ll blow up the dam! The knights will mount and fight on horseback between the mill and the escape route while the soldiers will form a square on the bridge towards the mill and defend! The attendants will stand in reserve next to the soldiers guarding the flanks from enemies attacking the soldiers and supporting the knights! You’re the most senior aren’t you?”
Azadin took a senior officer in his corps and entrusted him with command of the corps.
Veterans and enlisted men alike were inwardly impressed by Azadin’s concise yet firm and purposeful instructions.
‘As expected it is a true story. It wasn’t for nothing that they swept across the Chadra Plateau.’
‘Sir Aramis is a good fighter but his command is a mess so I’m glad I met him.’
‘The problem is whether the knights are really….’
The soldiers were worried that the knights might not listen to Azadin because of his origins.
But the knights were not oblivious so they all grumbled while mounting their horses.
“Sir Azadin! And you?”
“There are still isolated sentries holding off the enemy! We must rescue them! Soldiers! Servants! Return the sentries following behind to the rear of the camp and reorganize! Those who were on sentries are exhausted so return them to the reserve and let them catch their breath for a while!”
Azadin said so and called Firewinter to join the attack on the guards with Breed.
As the hippogriffs swooped down on the bridles from above and Azadin cut down the bridles from the side like cutting grass one of the troops fled in fear even though they had attacked alone.
It has tremendous destructive power.
Thanks to this the night watchmen who were in danger were saved.
“Go to the watermill and join the servants and soldiers!”
Azadin shouted this to his sentries while he himself dealt with the enemies.
No matter how great your martial arts skills are how can two people stop an advance against a large army?
The sorcerer of Bree laughed and cast a spell.
Breed who had been running away in fear suddenly turned around as if possessed by something and rushed at Azadin foaming at the mouth.
‘I was wondering why these guys weren’t scared.’
Azadin wanted to cut off the sorcerer’s neck with an arrow but there were too many enemies and he could not put down the ceramite longsword he was swinging now.
And even Azadin was growing tired.
But then it happened.
*********
“charge!”
Suddenly a shout was heard from the south side of the road.
And then the sound of horse hooves is heard.
About 40 knights were running.
They all had angel wings spread out and they shone dazzlingly even in the darkness.
It was a sight that would make even the most devout of believers seek God. The heavenly army was descending upon the earth at this very moment galloping through the darkness of the night.

Everyone was frozen in awe at the majestic and splendid sight.
‘It’s actually cold.’
The magic of cold was being unleashed from the flag held by the rider at the front.
The magic of that cold freezes the road allowing the troops to run without their horses’ hooves sinking into the mud.
The knights raised their spears simultaneously with a loud noise that shook the heavens and earth.
They ran into the Bree army with the same force they had been running with and the Bree army which was facing the rear and side to attack the watermill was swept away helplessly like a plank fence in a flood.
The Celestial Fire Knights passed through the flank and rear of the Bree regiment. It was a scene that could be called a slaughter.
“Wow!”
“We are alive now!”
The townspeople cheered in unison. It was a charge by only about 40 knights but they cut through the Bree troop with a might that shook the heavens and the earth. The Bree troop whose ranks were thrown into disarray had been the perpetrators of violence just a moment ago but now they were the victims of violence.
The soldiers swung their spears and the cavalry charged at the shattered Bree regiments swinging their swords. It was like swinging a sword at a patient with a broken leg.
The atmosphere of the battlefield changed as the Breeds who had not come to their senses due to the Knights’ charge were mercilessly killed.
‘That’s amazing.’
Azadin was amazed by the majesty of the Celestial Fire.
The Celestial Fires cut through the enemies then turned around at the entrance to the village and charged towards Breed again.
The Breeders tried to block their charge by sending out deer bears and Bree giants but…
As the rider raised his flag and chanted the spell a beam of pure white light struck the Bree Giant.
-Crash!
The white ray that struck the giant Bree’s knee instantly sent a large icicle flying from the ground toward the sky.
The Bree giant’s knees split open sending out jagged spurts of blood and water.
The Bree giant falls helplessly and Celestial Fire rushes in behind him. In an instant they stab the stag bear with their spears then boldly discard their spears and switch to swords and dig into the rear ranks.
Once again the Celestial Fire Knights charged through the Breeds. Although they were only 40 knights they already had complete control of the battle.
As dawn broke and the rain stopped the breezes receded.
The Celestial Fire Knights finally succeeded in defeating Breedle and saving the town.

“I am Karna Lionaire the leader of the Celestial Fire and the grandson of the Northern Emperor Cohen Lionaire. First of all I would like to commend your bravery!”
The one who called himself Karna was a beautiful young man with red hair so pretty that it was hard to tell if he was a man or a woman. His fiery red hair had an unrealistic beauty as if the best court painter was depicting it with true passion under the sky where the rain had cleared and the dawn was breaking.
Not only Karna but each and every member of the Celestial Fire had such extraordinary beauty that those who had lived their entire lives as ordinary farmers wondered if they had gone to heaven after death.
“Sir Aramis! Excellent. To be honest I was worried but the battle was better than I expected. You held up well!”
“I’m embarrassed Captain. In fact it wasn’t me who commanded the troop….”
Aramis pointed to Azadin.
“Ah. The Hippogriff Knight. Great. Who are you?”
“Your Majesty he is Sir Azadin of Vermillion.”
A young female knight introduced Azadin.
Surprisingly Azadin’s old acquaintance the knight Izmila was here.
‘No what’s the surprise? Of course she’d be here. She’s a Celestial too.’
Azadin was not at all surprised. However if anything it was Izmila’s aforementioned expression that aroused some emotion in him.
She must have been deeply intoxicated by the activities of the Celestial Fire Knights. After all it would not be an exaggeration to say that their very existence was a scene from an epic heroic poem as they charged into the night raid defeated the Breeds and achieved victory at dawn.
Celestials who inherited the blood of angels proved their worth.
“I see. So you are indeed the Wonder Azadin of Chadra. I thought you were extraordinary.”
Karna said so and smiled.
“Thank you for helping Sir Aramis. You are great.”
“Thank you for your compliments. I had no choice but to survive.”
Azadin declined the offer and looked at the Celestial Fire Knights.
They had suffered some casualties in the recent battle and there were some wounded. But there were no deaths.
The fighting power of each Celestial was so strong that some fell off their horses while charging either injured or dying but even those who did suffered only minor injuries.
It’s a small loss compared to the heroic victory.
‘This is really….’
Azadin somehow tasted bitter.
I cannot help but acknowledge the skills power and beauty of the Celestial Fire Knights.
“Thanks to you I survived. Lord Karna.”
“I am more honored Sir Azadin. I am glad to see you have overwhelmed the heroes of Chadra. You must be tired from the battle so let’s rest for now and see you when the sun passes noon.”
“…Thank you for your consideration.”
Azadin bowed to Karna and withdrew.
Why are the children of the Northern Emperor Celestial? How are Celestials created?
Such questions still lingered in Azadin’s heart but he also wondered what was the use of them all.
The forces of evil are gradually growing stronger so what’s the point of having unnecessary suspicions and digging into such things?
While other knights ignore and despise Azadin don’t the Celestials belonging to the Celestial Fire treat Azadin kindly?
Fascination takes hold of Azadin.
Fatigue engulfed Azadin as his will to find out and uncover the truth dulled.
Azadin entered the cabin assigned to him and collapsed into a dead sleep.
