Night of the Soulless Heathens – 286

#286. Fimbulbert 3
It seems a coincidence that Sir Sok mentioned both elemental wailing and angel blood from Azadin’s mouth at the same time.
“The Celestials and Elemental Wailings of the Rescue Knights are said to have a close relationship. But I guess you didn’t know that.”
“…?”
“It’s not worth arguing with Fimbulbert approaching. Think about getting the Eye of Asajit from Griselda later. If the cold continues people will freeze to death so get the Wendigo bone sword back. Okay. I’ll be going now. Before those pesky eyes stick to me.”
The reason why Lord Soak criticized Giacomo’s idea as a strange idea was not because the idea was ingenious but because it clearly contained some paradox in the causal relationship.
What could it be? I wanted to hear more but judging by the mood it seemed like Sir Sok didn’t want to say anything more about it.
“Well then thank you for your hard work Sir Azadin. Let’s look forward to what you can do in that fallen knightly order when Fimbulbert approaches!”
The Whites bring in a skeletal wyvern and Lord Sok flies up on it.
“…”
Azadin felt puzzled as he watched the flight of this strange knight senior(?).
He’s clearly an evil and crazy warlock…
So far out of all the people who have joined the Rescue Knights Azadin has been the most kind and helpful truly exemplary senior aside from Bishop Akenar.
“Is the Rescue Knights really that bad? The only proper senior they have is Lord Sok…”
*********
Azadin read the spell ‘Fate to Find Weapon’ that he had received from Lord Sok.
This magic was like a mythical hero acting on fate itself to restore weapons from those with whom one had a connection.
So one day while fishing he caught a fish and cut open its stomach and found a ring he had lost a long time ago.
It is a high-level magic that consumes a lot of magical power and somehow connects vague relationships in this way but its effectiveness is questionable.
However in order to recover the Wendigo dagger lost in battle you have no choice but to rely on something like this.
“Does this really work? It’s so damn hard. And it uses blue magic?”
Even for Azadin whose magical prowess had greatly improved through his fusion with Arael this magic was quite difficult.
But it’s better than not even trying.
I guess he gave it to me because it had a sock-like effect.
Azadin groped around and tried to write the spell.
Then my head started to pound and throbbed. My magical power was quickly depleted and I felt dizzy and chills spread across my body.

“…There’s some kind of reaction. But…I don’t know. Blue magic isn’t my main magic.”
Azadin has two types of magical powers as his foundation: the colorless Flower-Bird-Pung-Moon and the white Shinwangjinseo.
Here the black necromancy that Arael studied followed while the red destruction magic and blue fate magic were weaker than the other magics.
However… since this magic mainly uses blue magic it easily tires out Azadin.
I couldn’t keep casting spells while suffering from magical exhaustion not knowing if I’d ever find the Wendigo Dagger or not.
‘This isn’t the magic that Lord Sok gave me to harm me is it? The magic itself is purely meant to weave fate.’
It was while Azadin was thinking like that.
“…hello.”
“….”
The Northern Aragatha troops appeared before Azadin.
“What? Are you an assassin?”
“No. That’s it.”
“Actually the prince ordered me to tail Sir Azadin.”
“You hid and didn’t come any closer because you were afraid of the Fimbul Horde?”
“…yes.”
“Well done.”
It may sound like I’m rambling but I’m being sincere.
If they had been caught by the Fimbul Horde and had gotten into a fight with Lord Sok Prince Kalintz would have found the corpses of his men who had been tailing Azadin brutally murdered.
It becomes strange to even say that it was a misunderstanding.
‘But these guys are really Aragasa. They’re good at ambushes. I couldn’t even spot them.’
Even the voice of Arael flying overhead and scouting seemed not to have detected their presence.
‘If you only trust Arael’s voice and neglect your surroundings you’ll be in big trouble. This has been a good lesson.’
Azadin asked the northern Aragats a question.
“What does Prince Kalintz plan to do? What do you want to gain by following me?”
“Actually the prince wants to have a good relationship with Sir Azadin.”
“Really? Tailing her? If you get more motivated you might even kidnap her?”
“Rather it seems that Sir Azadin is not interested in women or money which is why he is troubled.”
Prince Calintz was the kind of man who could not trust anyone unless he gained an upper hand in a deal through bribes or entertainment just as he would with other nobles or clergy.
For someone like him it would be difficult to deal with someone who seemed as ungreedy as Azadin.
“Tell him I like it when he gives you the information.”
“So I know that.”
“You know? But why?”
“The prince wants to be that kind of person all by himself. He wants to provide you with money and entertainment so you have to give him the information. He doesn’t want to give you the information first. That’s what he means.”
“I want to pretend to be the only one who is not a vulgar person but Sir Azadin took that spot first and he is also very handsome so I think he is very disappointed.”
The evaluation of the Northern Aragasa members is strange.
So if you listen to their evaluation of Prince Kalintz it seems like they have this sentiment: he’s a fool but he’s our fool.
If Azadin badmouths Prince Kalintz here they will be genuinely indignant.

They should be the ones who curse and they don’t like others cursing Prince Kalintz. It was very likely that they would take it that way.
“Looking at you guys too it seems like the prince is quite lucky.”
“Yes that’s right.”
The Northern Aragasa members became excited and began to talk.
*********
Minotaur Knight Selim became a full-fledged follower of Azadin.
He was such an ardent follower that people would gossip in the tavern about how great Azadin was and who knighted him.
The 1st Lieutenant Jean passed on this information about Azadin to Prince Kalintz.
“No if it’s Sir Death Knight Plank…”
“He is the person who was the last to be knighted by His Majesty.”
“Oh you must really hate that? I think that old man is a bit obsessed with it.”
“The Minotaur is too boastful to be listened to.”
“Even taking that into account isn’t it clear that that Minotaur named Selim is loyal to Azadin? He just gave him his entire body including his gallbladder to be roasted and eaten?”
Prince Calintz looked at the glass and asked.
“If I told you to go around praising me like that would you do it? Yes?”
“You must have a pretty side.”
“You’re handsome and good at drinking? You’re good at fighting too. You’re hearty and manly.”
“It seems unmanly considering that he said it himself. And that guy Azadin is incredibly handsome. When you have a superior like that you’ll definitely want to show him off.”
“Hey. That Azadin? A man needs to have a solid taste. When you mention beauty it’s not my style.”
“But you actually managed to make that Minotaur loyal to you in a very short period of time. It wasn’t even two weeks so when did you make him so loyal…?”
“That’s really great. I want to make a lot of loyalists too.”
“Aren’t I already a loyal subject for eternity?”
“Instead of someone like you if you’re going to take a peerless beauty with you you’ll look good and she’ll be your lover.”
“I can’t help it. I’m not that type of person but if you want me to Prince I’ll have to loosen up my butt a bit. Since it’s my first time please be gentle.”
“…You are truly a loyal subject for eternity. That’s enough you brat. I’m afraid you’ll appear in my dreams.”
Prince Calintz chuckled and rested his chin on his hand.
“Are you dealing with him too?”
“Yes. A little bit.”
“A little bit of what…..”
“Don’t worry. My butt is still yours. Even if Azadin asks for it I’ll tell him it’s reserved for you.”
“That’s a strong statement. But keep it short. Okay?”
*********
Azadin was speechless as he looked at the Northern Aragasa agents who were relaying this information.
“It seems that Prince Kalintz is quite lucky.”
I had no choice but to repeat those words like a parrot.
“So what is that rich prince trying to trade by following me? My butt? If that’s the case I’m not interested so tell him to take it all.”
“Well you should meet him in person first.”
“There are a lot of people who want to see this today. Okay I understand. Show them around.”
Azadin decided to meet Prince Kalintz.
*********
Empty bottles of liquor were lined up in front of the Chapter Master’s residence in Fireglyph.
Most of the empty bottles are worth money so if you sell the bottles piled up here you can make a pretty good profit.
‘You drank a lot. What happened?’
As Azadin was admiring the door opened and a slightly haggard looking prince appeared.
“Huh? Who is this? Isn’t it Sir Azadin? What’s going on?”
“Prince Kalintz. You’ve had a lot to drink. Are you okay?”
Even from afar you can clearly smell the alcohol.
“This is how all northerners are. There’s nothing particularly unusual about it.”
“You seem upset. What happened?”
“I said there was nothing special… No. No. It happened.”
Prince Kalintz handed Azadin a piece of paper.
It was an order sent from St. Mallory the headquarters of the Order of the Rescue to the Chapter Master of Fireglyph.
“hmm?!”
Azadin frowned at the contents.
“An order to mobilize grain. But the quantity is….”
“It’s just the barley harvest season and they’re demanding all of last year’s harvest. I’m sure these guys are doing this to get rid of me.”
“Well the Chadra Plateau is a low priority for the Rescue Knights. It’s a forced labor camp so to speak. But these numbers are a bit too much. Did you send a reply asking them to reconsider?”
“Of course I sent it. But do you know who sent that letter?”
Azadin examined the signature and seal on the letter.
He melted wax next to his signature and stamped it with a signet ring.
The signature was so sloppy that it was hard to read but when I compared it with the seal I could tell that it was the name Karna.
“Karna? Who is this?”
“My nephew.”
“nephew?”
“And this is the captain of the newly formed ‘Celestial Fire’ Knights.”
Azadin was surprised.
I knew that the Rescue Knights were trying to gather Celestials and form a unit made up of only them in order to win over the people’s hearts.
But could it be that the leader is the grandson of the Northern Emperor?
‘Hey wait a minute. Wasn’t the reason the Northern Emperor didn’t know Celestial’s secret in the first place so he tried to kidnap Celestial? But what does it mean that the Northern Emperor’s grandson is a Celestial?’
