“Sir Pavel. If you give in to their demands it will be entirely your responsibility later. The higher-ups would naturally like to maintain the status quo and end it with only replacing the Chapter Master. Do you think they would like the prisoners to suddenly form a committee and self-govern themselves and come out on the surface?”
“ah….”
Only then did Sir Pavel realize that clashing with them was the way to fulfill his responsibilities with the least amount of regret.
“Don’t worry too much I will repel them. Sir Pavel you can continue to act as Acting Chapter Master here in Fireglyph.”
Azadin reassured Pavel and left the office.
Izmila followed and asked.
“Are you okay Sir Azadin? I don’t think they’ll stay still.”
“Those who come looking for something to do are pretty good. The necromancer Lord Sok and the half-vampire Niselda? Aren’t they a bit more dangerous?”
“Then… isn’t that a bigger deal?”
Izmila asked in confusion.
I’m supposed to rule Fireglyph temporarily but I’m making all the lower-ranking officials rebel.
In other words it is no different from the great lord making all the minor lords under him rebel.
Even if he is a great lord this is something he cannot tolerate… What on earth is Azadin thinking?
*********
When negotiations with Azadin broke down the one who was most dissatisfied was the smuggling kingpin Chashan.
Even if Azadin refuses to negotiate the other two Hippogryph Rider Selim and Wild Druid Cedrin remain in office.
But for Chashan this situation is not the status quo.
In fact Chashan and his organization had some kind of contract with Lord Hexenmayer.
Externally Chashan says he has developed a mountain route to transport drugs there but if he does that he will never be able to achieve the same trade volume as now.
With the tacit approval of Lord Hexenmayer the Fireglyphs were used to transport supplies in the amount they currently carry and they gained the money and influence they needed to do so.
However with Sir Hexenmayer being ousted and Azadin taking his place he has been blocking the secret trade. Azadin has become an obstacle that Chashan must deal with somehow.
*********
In a shady tavern in the back alleys of Fireglyph Chashan was meeting with his men.
His smuggling organization was already established in Fireglyph so he was able to meet with Azadin immediately after finishing his meeting.
“Ugh. In the name of our ancestors! Even if it’s a tavern made from a hideout this beer is too bland. It tastes like it was made by mixing horse urine with donkey urine! Can’t you make it right?”

Chashan grumbled and wiped the beer foam from his mouth.
“What about that guy named Azadin? I don’t think we can bribe him like we did Lord Hexenmayer.”
The man who was the owner and organizer of the tavern said as he wiped the table.
“Huh? Why do you think so?”
“That’s… I saw him catching doppelgangers with an angel. What should I say? It might sound strange to say this but he looked so beautiful and majestic like an angel.”
The members of the organization who had personally experienced Azadin’s activities and his charm for people were worried about how to convey the shock of that day to Chashan.
Azadin who seemed like a true angel incarnate and a spokesman for justice was the most feared figure among criminals.
“The guy you saw seems a little different from the guy I saw.”
Chashan scoffed and took the beer he had disparaged as being like horse urine.
The Azadin he saw was an ambitious person. A person like that would not hate the overwhelming wealth that drugs bring. Even if he hated drugs themselves he would likely overlook it under the pretext that it was for his own ambition.
“Don’t worry. I have no intention of trying to persuade him. He can’t become Chapter Master anyway. There’s no need to recruit someone who’s just temporarily taking over until a Chapter Master is appointed. So get rid of him.”
“Should I hire an assassin? But ordinary assassins won’t be able to do it. They’re the soulless blasphemies of the Herald Clan.”
“Just killing that idiot and getting rid of him isn’t the only solution. If we release the griffin and attack the passing hordes who would he blame?”
“That little head of the hippogriff-loving family I guess.”
“Right? What if we release the undead and attack the merchants? What if we start a fight with the other Chadra Ogels? How can the new Chapter Master properly run Fireglyph? He’ll probably agree to form a committee. Even if he’s angry and shows his teeth won’t the sparks fly to someone other than me?”
“aha.”
“There’s no need to assassinate him directly. He’s just a temporary replacement for the Chapter Master while he’s away. Just show him that you can’t keep that position and he’ll surrender on his own….”
But that was when Chashan said that.
“This is the Fireglyph branch of the smuggling organization.”
A bright voice struck Chashan’s eardrums.
As the startled Chashan looked up he saw Azadin a tall half-elf and a large half-orc entering the entrance of their hideout.
Although it was a tavern in name only there were guards posted at the entrance but they seemed to be retreating without any real explanation.
“No way… There was no sign of being followed so how?”
“That’s because I got my hands on Lord Hexenmayer’s journal.”
Azadin said so and sat down at the table.
“You damn bastard. Oh not you Hexenmayer. A bribe-taker shouldn’t write all sorts of things in a journal.”
“He seemed to believe that his position as Chapter Master would last forever until he gave it up of his own volition.”
Azadin responded nonchalantly.
In fact Lord Hexenmayer as was natural never wrote a word about bribery or backroom dealings in his official journals.
Although he kept a secret ledger and recorded it separately Azadin was able to find Chashan only because he followed her with Arael’s voice.
But there is no reason to tell you what Azadin can and cannot do. It would be better to leave it to your own misunderstanding.
Chashan gulped down his beer tossed his empty vest to the bartender and looked back at Azadin.
“You came to me anyway. What are your intentions?”
As the tattoos on Chashan’s body glow a red light rises from his eyes like sulfurous vapor.
Chashan a powerful sorcerer was ready to burn Azadin with magical fire at any moment. However Azadin did not blink an eye at Chashan’s blatant threatening actions and asked.
“Aren’t you thinking of setting up a real business and running it instead of just smuggling?”
At that moment Sir Braham Chashan’s subordinate was startled.

Azadin’s proposal was out of the ordinary.
Proposing a legal and formal association for smugglers? But isn’t this against the policies of the Knights Templar?
‘I thought he was just a crazy guy who got lucky and killed Lord Hexenmayer… but I guess not. There’s a bigger picture.’
Contrary to Sir Braham’s surprise Chashan did not seem to think much about Azadin’s proposal.
“Oh? Are you out of your mind? We are criminals. The Knights Templar don’t want us to leave the plateau and exert our power. That would be against the Knights’ policy.”
“I know that too. But we can’t fight against the coming destruction if we continue like this.”
“Haha. Are you also a market madman who predicts the age of Jupiter?”
“If necessary I will be willing to be treated like a madman.”
“Are you in your right mind?”
Chashan snorted.
“What else can you do without drugs? Nothing is more profitable than drugs. They are hard to transport and the profits are not that great. Sugar is about as profitable as drugs but it grows well in hot and rainy climates so even if the Chadra Plateau is fertile you can’t make sugar.”
“Food and Weapons Wool Fur Cloth Healing Ointment.”
Braham clicked his tongue as he listened to the products Azadin spoke of.
They are heavier and cheaper than drugs making them unattractive to smugglers who mostly cover transportation costs.
But if war breaks out and the Age of Jupiter approaches these are invaluable materials.
‘Do you really believe that the age of Jupiter is coming?’
Suddenly I felt an eerie feeling.
If that’s true then the guy in front of you is a fanatic.
An opponent who is impossible to communicate with and who cannot be threatened or intimidated. This means that the violence threats intimidation and bribery that Chashan has wielded so far are ineffective against this opponent.
‘Do you really believe in the Age of Jupiter? If so….’
Sir Braham suddenly felt his heart pounding.
It was a heart that had grown old and corrupted and no longer beat. Of course as a member of the violent and savage Chashan organization heart-stopping moments were commonplace. But it had been a long time since I had a heart that truly beat.
Unlike Sir Braham who was thrilled by the vision Azadin portrayed Chashan underestimated Azadin.
“That’s crazy. There’s no need to say more. How am I going to get the Dwarven Arrow back by selling something like that? This drug isn’t just a simple cigarette or something fancy. It’s the power to control and rule over humans. Even if the Age of Jupiter is real and we have to produce food and weapons it’s the same. No it’s better. The guys who threw me in this remote corner will all be destroyed.”
“What I’m worried about is Chashan.”
Azadin glared at Chashan with a cold gaze.
“I don’t know whether it is better to keep you alive or to kill you.”
“What?!”
“Are you serious about what you’re saying now? Or are you afraid that if you don’t prove your courage through your own deviation someone will look down on you?”
“You’ve crossed the line you punk!”
At that moment the tattoos on Chashan’s body burst into flames. Chashan’s eyes were not just threatening.
-Burning gaze!
Pure red magic radiated from Chashan’s eyes and engulfed Azadin. It was Chashan’s magic that had killed countless opponents.
Sir Braham Chashan’s subordinate recalled how Chashan had attacked the senior knight with that burning gaze.
Sir Braham was supposed to be one of Chashan’s henchmen ever since he saw the noble knight in plate armor cut down by a blazing beam of fire leaving only his lower body cut off.
But Azadin was different.
-A series of paintings of flowers birds wind and moon!
Countless magic bullets poured down in front of Azadin clashing with his burning gaze. As the gaze and magic bullets exploded Azadin moved to the chair next to him.
As if he was leaning back in his rocking chair a kick struck Chashan’s jaw.
Rather than kicking it looked like he was sitting on the chair in an arrogant and flashy manner and Chashan was sent flying backwards and fell out.
“Ugh!”
Chashan’s jaw is shattered and bleeding.
The founder of the Dwarven Arrow the mad Dwarven sorcerer Chashan was left completely wounded by the young man’s kick.
