#260. Whereabouts of Angel’s Blood 5
“Ugh!”
Lord Hexenmayer struggled in black steel chains.
Azadin had already taken a piece of the doppelganger’s corpse and secretly switched it while cutting off the hair.
It was a child’s play but those who were infatuated with Izmilla’s angelic appearance could not help but believe that Hexenmayer was their doppelganger.
“Ugh!? These crazy guys!”
Sir Timothy saw the sight and realized what Azadin had done. He was so aggrieved and angry that he was speechless and could not speak properly.
Since becoming the captain of the Fireguard he has reigned like the king of Fireglyphs except for Lord Hexenmayer. How many times has he suffered such injustice and resentment?
Sir Timothy drew his sword in indignation at the injustice he had suffered after more than a dozen years.
“Don’t frame me! You’re the one who switched the tables…”
However it was not a good choice to draw his sword at Azadin in front of people who were already hardened by the angelic appearance of Izmilla.
“Ugh!”
Azadin closed the gap in one stride and stood before Sir Timothy. And Azadin’s ceramite longsword Aurelia Dawn ignited.
A golden flame danced under the moonlight sending Sir Timothy’s sword flying into the sky.
“ah!”
It was such a beautiful and majestic blow that everyone was speechless.
How could a child let alone a knight so cleanly and single-handedly subdue a veteran knight Sir Timothy the captain of the Fireguard?
This black-haired man of inhuman beauty looked like a hero straight out of an old tale.
In an atmosphere where people were already hardened by the angelic appearance of Izmilla it was now impossible to resist Azadin and his group.
The soldiers also lowered their weapons and held out their hands forward.
“We are not doppelgangers!”
“Please investigate. I will comply.”
“These idiots!”
Sir Timothy was furious but Azadin’s hand gently pressed against his carotid artery.
“It seems like you’re causing confusion. I’ll take the new soldier into custody for now.”
“This guy…..”

Blood flow to his brain was cut off and Sir Timothy fell forward.
“….”
However Azadin sent a sign through lip-reading to the high-ranking doppelganger who was disguised as Hexenmayer’s servant.
The high-level doppelganger hesitated whether to resist or remain silent believing Azadin’s sign but he thought about Azadin’s reputation within the messenger clan.
‘He used to be known as a fool but now he is the one who defeated the leader Hatir. And judging by his current skills he is definitely not an opponent I can handle. Even among the Aragasa there is no one as strong as him.’
In the end the superior doppelganger decided to believe in Azadin’s sign and wait.
Then Azadin stopped his search for doppelgangers and declared to the people.
“Gentlemen! The current Chapter Master of Fireglyphs Lord Hexenmayer is missing and his place has been taken by a doppelganger. The rule of Fireglyphs will be temporarily delegated to the investigators of the Order of the Knights of Wisdom! Sir Izmilla and Sir Pavel will rule Fireglyphs fairly while the investigation is completed!”
When Azadin brought Izmila forward first the people cheered.
Everyone could not help but be pleased when Izmila who appeared to be nothing more than an incarnation of an angel in front of the believers in angels was put forward to rule.
*********
“….”
“and.”
“Is this okay?”
The investigators and Fireguards who had been involved in Azadin’s actions could not believe what was happening before their eyes.
Azadin a mere platoon leader at Fort Vermillion and a member of the Herald Clan seized control of Fireglyph in just one day and usurped the authority of Chapter Master.
Who would have thought that such a smooth usurpation and rebellion would take place in just one day?
What if Lord Hexenmayer isn’t the culprit? Can you handle the aftermath?
But it was already a symbolic position.
Since things had come to this I had no choice but to follow Azadin’s lead.
Azadin checked with Lord Hexenmayer’s men to see if they were doppelgangers or not spoke with them and then gestured to the investigators and Fireguards including Lord Izmilla.
“What are you doing? Let’s go quickly. If the remnants find out what happened to Lord Hexenmayer they might destroy the evidence and run away. We have to quickly take control of Lord Hexenmayer’s office and private residence.”
Everyone came to their senses at Azadin’s words.
Although the original Wisdom Order’s investigation team was the type of people who did such things they felt like rookies in front of Azadin.
‘He’s a scary guy.’
‘Are they really the messenger clan?’
‘Thank goodness we’re not enemies.’
Everyone feared Azadin but they also felt secure in his competence and handsome appearance.
*********
Lord Hexenmayer’s private residence was filled with all sorts of luxuries no less than the mansion of a nobleman.
The annex to the mansion contained alchemical equipment purchased from Van Dyke Trading Company and it was there that the investigation team was able to find Giacomo the alchemist they had initially been looking for.
The man with half-shaven hair sullen eyes and a gloomy expression greeted the investigators without even thinking of running away.
“Guests have arrived. Judging by their appearance they don’t seem to be Hexenmayer soldiers…”
“Are you Giacomo the Alchemist?”
Azadin asked him. He already knew that the portrait on the wanted poster was a perfect match and that he had heard a statement from his superior doppelganger but he still asked to confirm.
“That’s right. But….”
He looked at Bernard who had come in behind the investigators.

“Bernard. You were here too.”
“Did you know each other?”
Azadin asked Bernard.
“We are alumni. We studied at the same Banreung Academy.”
“Surprise me? Why didn’t you tell me when you were looking for Giacomo?”
“Because even if I tell you there’s not much I can do to help you. I can’t give you any information so I thought it would only be a hassle to tell you that I’m an acquaintance of a wanted criminal.”
“Are you saying that you pretended not to know because you had nothing to say? But I hope you will talk to me next time.”
“If only the captain had been there without the investigators I would have spoken. Kolok….”
Bernard answered sarcastically and coughed.
“That’s fortunate by the way.”
“Lord Hexenmayer really is a traitor!”
The investigators breathed a sigh of relief at having discovered the alchemist Giacomo.
They were the ones who committed the audacity of framing Lord Hexenmayer as a doppelganger and arresting him.
Of course it was Azadin who actually committed the crime but since they participated in Azadin’s atrocities they could not say they were completely unaware of them.
But what if Lord Hexenmayer is innocent?
I can’t even imagine the aftermath.
But now that Giacomo has been discovered here it is now certain that Lord Hexenmayer is a traitor to the Order.
“Alchemist Giacomo. You are currently accused of murdering a member of the Geological Survey. Do you admit the charge?”
“Hmm… You killed the geological survey team and ran away? Yes I killed them.”
“Why?”
“That’s why. Half of it was forced on me and the other half was my own free will.”
“Who forced you to do this?”
“I can’t say that. It’s under a ban.”
Giacomo said this and stuck out his tongue.
His tongue was branded with a black brand as if burned by fire.
Just looking at it made me shudder as I imagined how painful it must have been to be branded.
“Ugh.”
Izmila shuddered at the sight.
“You seem to have a weak stomach Sir Izmilla.”
Azadin watched the scene as if he found it amusing.
“Yes. In fact I’m the type of person who faints at the sight of blood. I know I’m not good enough as a knight but I can’t seem to fix it.”
“In any case it is true that you killed the investigation team. Just accept the order!”
Sir Pavel tried to arrest Giacomo without any hesitation.
Azadin stopped Sir Pavel.
“Wait a minute. That mark is Nether script. It’s dangerous to touch it now.”
“Then what do you want me to do?”
“Let me hear your story first.”
Azadin said so and asked Giacomo.
“Giacomo. Is there anything you could ask me?”
“ask?”
“It may be difficult to tell those who branded you with that name and put a ban on you but I don’t think they can even forbid you from speaking your wishes. If there’s anything you want just tell me. I’ll do my best.”
“Huh. The promise of the Knights. It’s all new.”
Giacomo seemed unimpressed by Azadine’s words.
But then Bernard stepped in.
“This person is a bit different from other articles.”
“Everyone says that. Well Bernard you’re different from other guys because you’re with me but how are you different?”
“This person is a trainee knight of the Rescue Knights…”
“Huh. Just a trainee knight? I thought you were a Celestial just by looking at your appearance.”
“You’re not a Celestial. Maybe. Are you?”
Bernard asked Azadin just in case.
“No.”
Azadin shook his head.
“So what’s different?”
“This person is also the emperor’s messenger.”
“…Oh you’re a messenger clan?”
“And the sword she uses is none other than the Ceramite Aurelia Dawn. It was recovered from the Death Knight Sir Planck whom the Salvage Knights had abandoned long ago. She drove the Shade Hags out of Fort Vermilion.”
“…omg?”
The investigators who were listening were also surprised by Azadin’s performance.
Solve the problem of Death Knight Sir Plank and drive back the legendary Shade Hags?
“If someone else had told you that you’d think he was bluffing but Bernard you’re not the type to brag are you?”
Everything Bernard said was nonsense but the Bernard Giacomo knew was never one to say anything rash.
“So does that mean the Salvation Knights accepted the Herald Clan?”
“Rather than that this person chose the Rescue Knights. So if there are any circumstances please tell me.”
“i get it.”
Giacomo searched through his pockets and took out a bloody vial.
It was a well-made crystal vial containing a bloody liquid.
“Please give this medicine to my daughter.”
“daughter?”
“Yes. My daughter is an elemental wailing patient.”
“….”
Elemental Wailing was an incurable magical disaster that caused human bodies to mutate into magical stones due to an explosion of magical power.
What makes the treatment of this disease even more difficult is that as the patient mutates into magic stones their body gradually breaks down and these magic stones are the highest quality alchemical materials.
Most researchers studying Elemental Wailing have been trying to figure out how to spread the disease to others at will but none have tried to cure it.
“Can this cure elemental wailing?”
“I don’t know. But it’s the best I can do. Anyway… both I and my daughter will die if we continue like this.”
“Where is your daughter?”
“Banreung Academy. If you’re still alive….”
Giacomo seemed to have lost the will to resist and tried to surrender by handing over the vial.
But Sir Pavel who had remained silent until now stopped them.
